Well, my suggestion for you, dodubird, would be to do two rounds of M2 buying. Start with an earlier unlocking M2 combo around Major, most of which are affordable. Then use that combo to earn cry to buy Wasp and Smoky, as those M2s last a long way down the line into M3 territory.

Hunter/Rail or Hunter/Shaft fit your style well.

DYKT is absolutely right. There's no point in taking full damage from most guns, but just squeaking out alive from a single average popularity one.

It depends upon your plans and your distaste for certain turrets. However, I'd say get Jaguar over Swash, as it's more focused in protections. Patience, young grasshopper.

I really hate Rail and Thunder. Not many paints offer protection from both, so does anyone have suggestions for my future choices? Other turret protections I'd like would be Twins and Firebird, but those are secondary bonuses.

Yes, Hunter's the clear choice, IMO. You have one light hull already, plus Thunder - and I think Isida - are better with Hunter than Wasp.

Thunder. It's good for that short range fire, but without getting too close. It also goes well with Viking.
