Let's discuss increased HP for heavy and medium tanks
AbsoluteZero replied to semyonkirov in News Archive
I have all the hulls and they're all m4 and I don't like this update because it doesn't seem to be thought out and that's not a knee-jerk reaction. Just because Hornet is popular doesn't mean you increase protection of everything else. Ever thought about just changing the Hornet? But so what if it's popular anyway? It's popular because Hunter drives like a house brick and the other bigger hulls are just too slow that players die of boredom trying to get anywhere - are we there yet? People prefer a little bit of excitement than boredom. Now we can shoot at each other a bit longer before being destroyed. Can't wait - well you have to actually! The game balance is messed up not because of Hornet's popularity but because of the 2 additional turrets we got recently, was 9 now 11. That's an increase of 22% in ways to be destroyed. The answer is not to increase protection for everyone but the light hulls, it is to speed up the some of the slower hulls and to add more protections to the paints. At all levels, paints need to be better. There should not be any paints now with just 1 protection. There should be a minimum of 3 protections and some paints even having as many as 5. And now you've gone and messed up Wiki again haven't you because most of the hulls MU tables are now wrong. Sales on Sunday and nobody knows in advance of what they can afford and are unable to plan for it. Have you ever considered that people try and plan ahead? Get them updated before Sunday please because while I don't need that info, other players do. -
I reported him and he won't receive a punishment. I was not given a proper explanation why. It's like some players have immunity or some hacks are acceptable in certain circumstances. I would like some answers on how TO servers deal with lag because I see HACKER in that video all day long. If he fell off the edge and wobbled for a bit and then somehow jumped onto the ramp without turning the turret and firing then I would have left it alone. I would have said that is the server extrapolating and then reversing time once data came in for that player. But we see him turn his turret and fire first so this can't just be lag. There is hacking here. Not just that - the movement of this players hull jumping up is entirely consistent with what we know of the hacks that are out there. Does tanki have a policy of giving leniency or immunity to some players who use hacks are or they always punished for cheating?
-
Here is a player blaming lag for what looks like an attempted cheat. In this case, if this was indeed lag, how do you explain what I see? What techniques does the TO server employ for lag? Does it extrapolate, do nothing and wait for data, rewind time - what? How can I see this player turn his turret, fire and then end up on the ramp? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4iOCBT_bq0

It doesn't have to be exact. An average will do just to prove these players are not lagging. If the player averages 20 over the last 5 seconds then we can categorically say there is no lag.
-
It won't help find them but it will help stop them from hiding behind the lag excuse when they are reported. Too many hackers and cheats evade punishment because of this lag excuse and if it can be proven that they had a good connection then they are more likely to get a punishment. Here is an example of a player who in my opinion cheated but is currently evading punishment because lag can't be discounted. The more tools we have, the cleaner and fairer this game will be. That has to be a good thing right?

What in particular?

Ping can be good at <20 ms or extremely bad at over 1 second, (we see that as 999). It can be all over the place. The greater the ping, the more twitches we see in gameplay because the server does not know exactly where a player is due to delayed data.
-
No. example, I see something on my screen that looks like a hack but it could also be the server compensating for a player's bad connection. I might be inclined to report this player for cheating. If the ping of this player is bad then the violator mod will be able to dismiss any report I make because he or she will simply say the player was possibly lagging. This idea actually helps those with bad connections!
-
I doubt that but even if there was then privacy policies can be amended.
-
No it doesn't. It's meaningless only to those who are not needing it so an option to display it is for those who want it.
-
I find the opposite.
-
It might explain some behaviour if we know that the player is experiencing graphics lag. The ping has another value and that is to show you if it is worth playing in that battle. If I knew players in the battle were lagging, doesn't matter which side, I'd probably find another battle. It would also let the laggers know that their connection is poor compared to the rest and they maybe inclined to do something about it. I'm sure it would incentivise some to get a better setup.

valid Show all players' fps and ping
AbsoluteZero replied to AbsoluteZero in Show all players' fps and ping Ideas and Suggestions
The game seems to be seeing an increase of hackers lately and the way we currently tackle these cheats is to record the violation and then submit it to the game violation section of the forum. Sometimes cheats evade punishment because the evidence is insufficient or explained away as possible lag. Therefore, to help stop players hiding behind the lag excuse, extra information is needed about the player in question and this can be presented on the scoreboard when you press tab. It will show every player's frames per second and ping. The value for the ping could be an average over the last number of seconds, 5s for example. It does not have to be presented on the scoreboard but I think that is preferable to pressing another key. There might be others who don't want to see this information clutter the scoreboard so a check box option can be added in settings for those who want to view this information. This suggestion harms only cheats and hackers and is harmless to honest players so if you take exception to this then you are either a hacker or you are someone who likes to let hackers off the hook. Make this idea a reality and help keep tanki clean and fair for everyone because with this in place, hackers with good connections would not be able to hide behind the lag excuse any longer! [intf] -
SAADFHAD attempted to hack but blamed it on lag as they all do. This was not any lag I ever seen. delete

I think you've taken a stand and made point. You've engaged lots of forum goers and it seems that the vast majority who visited this topic want something done about the injustices in this game which cause frustration to so many.
-
Then you're not looking. Here is one I reported this morning. "Mult on opposite side using viking picasso twins helping my side win. Their final scoreboard 0 points, 0 destroyed, 59 lost (6m53s)" and yes, generalissimos can also be mults. I could report 10 a day if I could be bothered.

No you can't read the video maker's name. As I said, it's been cropped. Rule: "Name of the player that made the screenshot or the video must match the topic starter's nickname. Edited screenshots/video are not allowed. Quality of screenshots or videos must allow moderators to easily understand nicknames and ranks of all the players." I do care to report players for bans because mults and cheats are rife at the moment and many games are being spoiled by them. There is no alternative solution. You either fight them using the rules or put up with them.
-
This video is useless anyway. It's been cropped and you can't see the username at the top. I didn't watch all of it but you need a scoreboard too. Pity, the flyhacker could have been blocked for cheating. You could have scored one for the good honest guys - never mind.
-
This shouldn't happen but it can when everyone is pushing. It looks odd but it's not one I'd report. This is a youtube clip of me getting gold where I magically rise up in a mammoth due to the pushing.
-
They already have in the youtube comments. There wasn't any lag. I will be taking this futher soon if no reply from staff. I'm sick of cheaters spoiling games for honest players. There is no valid explanation for this manoeuvre.

That seems to be his thunder going off after he went belly up, which cannot flip you back upright in the way it did. But the motion in which he returned to upright tells me hack and I have it at 30fps, no frames missing or jumping, each frame showing forward motion at normal speed, with no evidence of lag, & my ping was Excellent at 16. The timings between shots is between 2.3 and 2.4 seconds indicating he has 0 micro upgrades on the reload time. Seems like this is easy to verify. I still firmly believe hack. Even if he had it fully micro upgraded on reload time, then the angle of his tank 2 seconds after his first shot is such that it would be in an unrecoverable position.
-
This is what a hack look likes but this player doesn't get a ban. This evidence is "insufficient"! This was blatant and 100% NOT lag. There is no other explanation for this. I need to know which hacks are allowed and which hacks are not. I'd appreciate advice to help me save my time and that of tanki staff. video:

2 from me. 2 shots from the other rail wearing irbis. at least 3 smoky shots before the critical hit and at least 4 seconds of freeze. all of these m3. Players like this one seemingly are waltzing in and taking flags at will. Gone are the days when our turrets used to actually do something.
