Everybody who got himself a Smoky: congratz! :)
-
I really couldn 't care less about these so called farmers. They may level fast but they forget the most important thing: you got to really play the game to learn how to play well. Skills just don 't come for free. It results in pure noobs with a much too high rank for their own playing-level: they have turned themselves into ideal cannon fodder! Conclusion: the more of these "farmers" the better! :D

With your rank and assuming this is your first account I wouldn 't yet go for Wasp/Smoky. It can be awesome, but you need "awesome" driving skills too, to make it work. If you don 't move the hull, and move it well: you are dead... So it 's a choice between Hunter or Hornet I guess. The Hunter M0 is ok, it 's moderate in all aspects so it is easy to handle. Though if you got some driving skills already I would advice you to switch to the Hornet M0. It has more speed and again if you think you can handle that, than the Hornet M0 is fine for you. The armour is a bit less than the Hunter but not that much (12 HP). The speed of the Hornet is 9.5 vs the 7.2 from the Hunter. That 's a difference that counts! If you like the Hornet M0 you can rank straight towards the Hornet M1 (WO2) with it. (the Wasp M1 stays always a possibility if you really feel confident with quick manoeuvres) After the Hornet M1 the Hunter M1 (WO4) could be just the hull for you, very versatile and because it 's a late upgrade it 's very strong. Good luck!

Agreed if both are M3. Underneath M3: always Titan
-
Man, that 's a relief! For a moment, just a moment I thought it was one of the new upcoming TO Unity Maps.

Hi Trom, Smoky M2 is also great on the Hunter M2 (especially a Hunter M2 with a fairly micro-upgraded HP ) and the Wasp M2. On the Wasp the Smoky M2 is IMO a bit more effective than the Thunder M2 due to the zero self-damage, which you can 't always avoid. (I know you will disagree with the latter ;) ) Only if you are planning to do a lot of DM 's or CTF-defence I would say get the Titan M2. It 's made for those jobs IMO and does them very well. If you continue to play (attack/flagcape) CTF 's and some TDM 's you will be fine with your two hulls. Maybe it 's even possible for you to "skip" the Thunder M2, than first get the Smoky M2 at Colonel and than ofcourse the Thunder M3 at Brigadier? If your really lucky and get such a big 70% Thunder discount at that time... My two cents: Smoky

If it has to be between Hornet and Viking: Viking M3 In XP you can continue with your Hornet M2. It is a small handicap compared to a Hornet M3 for sure: but it will work. In time you can still get a M3. In DM 's you will start to suffer against the Viking M3 's and other heavier M3 hulls. Especially the ones with micro-upgraded damage/HP. So there 's definitely IMO more need to get a M3 here. That leaves parkour. And I 'm a parkour-noob. I guess you need the HP of an Hornet M3 to survive some tricks: but I leave this to somebody else. Still, I do feel that the Viking M3 is more essential for you.
-
Well, really choose whatever you like. It always works! For example put it on Wasp and you 've got a vulnerable but also an extremely fast and great CTF-attack and flagcape combo. If you put the Smoky on a Mammoth (hmm...better a Titan ;) ) and you 've got a great CTF-defender and a hard-to-kill Deathmatch combo. Or choose something in between and get yourself one of the three medium hulls.

Ah mooi! Bedankt allebei voor je hulp!
-
In your case I would continue XP till Colonel and get the Smoky M2. Great fun, very engaging gameplay and you can fully use the skills you have developed during playing XP 's. This is a lot less so with the Firebird IMO. Smoky M2 is great on the Hunter M2 and later on also very nice on the Hornet M3, I assume you will get. Really, Smoky M2 is all about good aiming skills and that 's why it 's deadly in the hands of a good Railer! Than again if you really like Firebird than ofcourse you should go for it! :)

Switch to Thunder M2, can 't go wrong with that one.
-
Inderdaad een aanrader die Action Mirrilis. (Sony Vegas ken ik niet)
-
Een vraag (nogal nooby): weet iemand hoe je de naam van een speler in een post kan plaatsen? (ik bedoel dan met de gele rang en de groene naam)
-
Desert micro-upgraded to 42% is all you need IMO. Use paint- and MU-discounts and you got yourself a cheap and simply great Rico-paint. The maths: Desert full price 23000+48300= 71300 crystals for 42% Rico Spark full price 79500+22053= 101553 crystals for 42% Rico

get Thunder M2...
-
^^ why even mention...no need for that The Smoky M2 also does the job in a Polygon DM. Three Rico 's roaming around...so I made them unhappy with my paintchange to Desert. It has a fully micro-upgraded 42% Rico-protection. Works like a charm. That means no need for the more expensive Spark and you almost got yourself a Golden hull: ...ok, with a lot of fantasy that is... Great fight, later joined by a fellow Smoky M2: well, lets say that two Smoky 's targetting the same hull at the same time should be forbidden. :)

Firebird doesn 't last long. It 's cheap allright, but it 's also soon weaker than the other weapons you encounter. So in that case you better save for the Ricochet M1, which is a lot stronger than the Firebird at your rank. Your only M1 for now is the Mammoth and Ricochet will combine with it. Fairly good combination for CTF-defense and in DeathMatches. Personally i would advice you to get the Smoky M1. Not because it 's on sale: http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=229648&do=findComment&comment=4049909 though that 's pretty nice for your crystal stack.... Nope, it 's a very good weapon to kickstart your further "Tankicarreer". IMO it 's the best basic gun that you can get that teaches you a lot more than others because it 's easy to handle, but not that easy that you wouldn 't learn a lot like for example with Twins. Not that Twins is a bad weapon, but it simply won 't teach you real aiming skills. You also don 't need to learn about using something like Splash damage with Thunder. Which btw. is a great weapon after your done with the Smoky M1. And in comparison with the Railgun which is also a great "skill teacher" you can shoot much, much more because of the fast reload, so your aimingskills will grow very fast! You already had the Smoky M0, well forget about that Smoky: the Smoky M1 is another story and a lot stronger! It can be fitted on every hull, from Wasp till Mammoth and will always do a good job: the fast rotation of the turret is very helpful on especially slower heavier hulls. With time you will also learn to use the very useful impact force to shoot your opponents off aim and rocking/tipping your shots with the Smoky is just awesome! Yep, great small gun! And those Criticals... :)

True, Freeze is the most effective weapon for this technique. Still it can be applied to Firebird and Isida too. At least Tankers should try to drive in irregular ways, instead of bumping straight into the enemy who will consequently get the change to inflict as much damage as possible.
-
Don 't worry. A decent Railer will simply have very good developed aiming skills and even more so than with any other weapon: a great sense of timing! Also you know well when to take cover and when it 's time to attack. (with Smoky, also depending on the hull, you will have more attack time) I suppose you know how to rock/tip your hull, because that 's also an essential skill with Smoky. The perfect preferation for the Smoky M2 is.... the Smoky M1 ;): but the Railgun comes in second. The Rail is harder to master and the skills you developed with it will always come in handy!
-
^ second that. Both weapons (including Isida) can and should be used in a similar fashion. Unfortunately you do see a vast majority of straight-forward attacks, a bit more common I guess with Firebird which weapon is more forgiving if wrongly used, because of the quick huge damage it inflicts. Though the Firebird itself isn 't "unskilled", the driver is: simply a lack of driving skills. Use a faster hull and circle/strafe around your enemy if that 's possible. Than you will have a good chance of surviving. This basic technique applies very well to all three close-range weapons. So indeed if a Tanker doesn 't seem to care of being killed: they are still unskilled.

Nice battle yesterday. Though I prefer to go into similar or high-ranked battles I couldn 't let this one pass. Long 999 battles can have great funds! The battlefund of this one was already close to 40000 crystals when I entered. Also the battle was already half way so it wouldn 't take ages...I used to do a lot of these in my earlier Tanki days, and than I did them right from the start. Looong sessions... :) Used a lot of DP 's, they make the already strong Smoky M2 simply amazing! Even at long-range it becomes dangerous. Without Double Power you better solely use the Smoky at close- to mid-range, otherwise you 'll be wasting precious shots. Had a very nice teaming with ASDS5, a very skillful Wasp M1/Rico M2 player. (happen to know another one too... ;) ) He hardly used supplies, besides the pick-ups, so he actually did an amazing job with his vulnerable combo! Great guy, complete trust right from the start. Helped each other where we could and it was really one of the best teaming ups I had. Lots of :-) in the chat. Makes DM 's so much more interesting and fun!

Dictator M2 is a good hull, but it 's quite an exceptional hull. Though it might be the better choice if you want to continue with only Rail. If you plan to take another weapon than the Railgun: the Hunter M2 might be a good choice. A nice hull with especially the Ricochet M2: Hunter M2/Rico M2 is an OP combo at your rank! Hunter is also great with the Smoky M2 but that 's only at Colonel 's rank. ( if possible micro-upgrade the HP of the Hunter M2: worthwhile or even needed ) Hunter is also good in combination with Thunder, but in that case I would personally choose the Viking M2. Not so much info to "work" with: so I hope it 's a helpful advice.
-
^second that, also the part that there should be a (crazy) high amount of Goldboxes. Otherwise we don 't get a clue of what this change in actual gameplay will mean. Besides it 's nice to catch Golds: even virtual ones! :) Thanks for this post about the way this new kind of Goldbox drop will work: makes it more clear. Curious about it, we 'll soon be able to find out in open testing.

Agree with ^Snow.HD, only I would definitely recommend Smoky M2! Twins M2: the weapon itself or is it due to the skill-level of the majority of Tankers that use it? Not that good. Rico M2: a bit OP M2 even while it 's an early upgrade, and it stays strong for many ranks. At it 's best in smaller and cluttered Maps. Still it 's no match IMO and own experience against the next turret... Smoky M2!: you got the proper rank, another very good reason to get this late and powerful M2 upgrade. Very versatile and relentless turret. The criticals are the top of the bill, and using the impact force to put opponents of aim is extremely useful to minimize respawning... ...and ofcourse it is the best because of the upcoming sale! :P

Good decision! ;) (btw. thanks for the VK tip!)
