[Issue 28] What to mount on: Dictator

Good article! Nice detail those added links to the previous "what to mount on..." articles. edit: a suggestion: put those links on all "what to mount on 's..."

[Issue 28] [Comparison] Railgun or Shaft?

    Great insight and article!

    Let's discuss Wasp!

Hornet M2: five ranks before Wasp M2 you can already enjoy it, it 's stable and a great jumper, it drifts...but is also less sensive and nervous than the Wasp when turning, it has a very decent HP and you spare crystals: the Wasp M2 102.700 minus Hornet M2 70.500 = 32.200 crystals. With 32.200 crystals you can almost buy Corrosion (34.500) at full price... Cheap... :D

What to buy? Which is better?

You seem to be liking the close-range weapons with the exception of the Smoky M1. The Viking M1 isn 't fast enough for flagcaping and also too slow for the close-rangers. Viking M1 with the Smoky M1 is a nice combo. If you like the Smoky M1 you could consider the Thunder M1. Hornet and Wasp are good with your three other turrets. Both great hulls for fast attacks and flagcaping! Forget about Firebird for now, the next M2 upgrade is too far away rankwise. Use the Hornet M1 with Freeze M1 and Isida M1. The Isida M1 can be great with the Wasp: that is, if you can really handle the Wasp. At WO5 you already can obtain the Freeze M2 and one rank later the Isida M2. The Isida M2 might be a bit stronger, but choose whatever you prefer. Good luck with ranking and deciding!

    Let's Discuss Hunter!

Isida needs more speed IMO to be effective. Wasp is very good with it, the Hornet ok, but the Hunter is already too slow... Freeze M2 might be a bit better, because of it 's obvious ability to stop the opponent in his tracks. Still I would prefer Hornet with the Freeze. Best weapons in my view for the Hunter M1 are the Thunder M1/M2 and the Rico M2. From these two I would go for Thunder.

    Let's Discuss Smoky!

I did the same. Hunter M4/Smoky M4 with Clay. A fast reloading puncher combined with a very useful speed: awesome!
  7. Lord-of-the-Snipers

    Let's Discuss Hornet!

Hornet M2 yea: unlocks already at Second Lieutenant...five ranks earlier than the Wasp M2...not bad at all... edit: if you are asking it for your next purchase, than take Wasp M2 in your case...

What to buy? Which is better?

I am pretty sure that 's not what Trombone_ftw was advicing you. In the contrary he happens to like Thunder a lot, lot more than Ricochet. He just implied that Rico would be nerfed... I don 't know if that will happen, but I do certainly agree that it could use one. The Firebird had its best days at your rank. Go for it again if you liked it at M2 when you become a Major. Looking at your garage I would go for the Thunder M1! You already played with the Smoky M1 which is by far the best turret to prepare you for the Thunder M1. (even better than the Thunder M0) Especially with the Viking the Thunder forms a good combo in general and in my view. A few cheap micro-upgrades in protection enhances your Viking which is usefull. Another path, "the fast lane" could be to go for the Wasp-Isida combination. The Isida becomes M2 at Third LT and is pretty strong. It 's a nice speedy flagcaping combo and also great for supporting attacks! Good luck!

What do you think about change of supplies system?

Not "we". Many other Tankers and I happen to like the Smart Cooldown. Is it perfect? Nope, it isn 't. And some minor changes wouldn 't hurt: Double Powers are too strong and in medium to large-sized maps, are more powerful and usefull (afaik and experience myself) for long-rangers than short-rangers. Being a long-ranger with Thunder and Rail I actually benefit from the DP 's: still I prefer a nerf in the damage-percentage done. It just feel it would be good for the overal gameplay. (the same nerf may count for the OP effect the Double Armour now has on especially heavy hulls) Health packs should be more restricted IMO or become of the same price as the other supplies. They have sort of become the druggers replacement for the old 234 mantra: "just use them continuously, no matter the battlefund" Having plenty of them from a very low drugging past, I also notice I use them way too many. Which isn 't particularly good for the sort of balanced and skill-based Tanki Online, the Devs claim they want to achieve. The best solution IMO, would be a doubling of the waiting time, so you can 't use those health packs that quickly one after the other. Still, the Smart Cooldown is already way, way better than the old 234-system in my view. Drugging didn 't become less and maybe never will or even should...Tanki may be free to play, but not free to make or maintain. At least we are freed from the hardcore 234 druggers, noob or skilled, who ruined too many of what could have been great battles! :)

Congratulations to all three new reporters!

    Let's Discuss Ricochet!

Paint is indeed not the most important issue, but if you have the crystals? than why wouldn 't you wear something like Corrosion? (rank WO3) Corrosion is like a Forester with added Thunder and Shaft protection. Pretty effective at your rank...
  12. Lord-of-the-Snipers

    Let's Discuss Ricochet!

Which is just fine, because Rico M2 is OP for much too many ranks.

    Let's Discuss Hornet!

    really, not really

What to buy? Which is better?

With your rank I would wait for a discount on the Hunter. At M3 it 's awesome and IMO better than the Viking M3. The MU 'd speed is 10 compared to Vikings MU 'd speed of 9. In my view this makes it a better and more versatile platform than the Viking M3, besides that the Hunter is even heavier which means a "recoil and impact advantage". So I would even go for a lesser 50% discount to get the Hunter M3. (At M2 it 's easy: always the Viking! It 's a late upgrade compared to the Hunter M2 which simply means it 's better IMO)

Drugging - Old Tanki vs New Tanki

A temporarily issue. It will fade to a lower level in time IMO. Still as DidYouKnowThat wrote I also believe Smart Cooldown can/will lead to at least equal drugs usage. But it will be a more widespread balanced usage amongst buyers and non-buyers: instead of the old 234-system, which was only all the time available to the (heavy) buyers. Health packs and double powers still have some issues, which TO should fix if they were honest about their intentions with the Smart Cooldowns.

What do you think about change of supplies system?

Second, no ^^ Third that. If Tanki lowered the price from the health packs to 50 crystals than it wouldn 't be a real issue. Now the health packs are too expensive, thus causing a new possible drugs separation between buyers and non-buyers. TO should fix this, if they were serious about their intentions with the Smart Cooldown...

i can't get on to the game

Try another browser like Firefox. Keep Safari for your daily surfing and the TO Forum, TO Wiki etc. and use Firefox only for entering the gameservers from TO. I have Firefox now divided into two profiles: one regular browsing Firefox and one TO Firefox, which has the same effect. Works like a charm!

What to buy? Which is better?

As I already said you can use the Thunder M1 all the way to Thunder M2 if you want to. This because the Thunder M1 is a late upgrading M1 and has plenty of "power". The same counts for the Rail M1 for example. The Smoky M1 and certainly the Firebird M1 have lost a lot of their former early "power" at WO5. You could continue with them (certainly with a Smoky M1 with some MU 'd damage) but it would be hard: the Thunder M1 will beat the Smoky M1 easily in an equalized fight. From WO5 you already have the first M2, the Freeze and at the next rank you have the Isida M2, the weapon if you want to earn XP quickly and rank a bit faster. In the end it 's really just up to what you like! :)

What to buy? Which is better?

Viking M2 is awesome. -_- Micro-upgrading the Protection parameter is all you eventually have to care about and does have some effect. A fully micro-upgraded protection equals a paint that gives you almost 8% protection against every turret. Up to you if this is worthwhile or not. It does come with a price though... The other parameters aren 't worth it IMO, for example a maximum speed increase of 0.22 won 't do a lot: that Hunter M2 still easily outruns you. Ofcourse the first very cheap MU steps can 't do harm, but don 't go too far with this: just a waste of crystals.

What to buy? Which is better?

Sorry, I leave this to your own decision. Maybe others of your own rank can step in?
  21. Lord-of-the-Snipers

What to buy? Which is better?

M2 's? Not M3 's? If M2, than go for the Viking M2, certainly with this sale. You can attack with Viking M2 too.
  22. Lord-of-the-Snipers

What to buy? Which is better?

Depends if you have Viking M2 or not (not clear in your post): with M2: 55.860 (you can get it) with M3: 100.770 (nope)
  23. Lord-of-the-Snipers

What to buy? Which is better?

Too bad... :( You could still go for the discounted Savanna now with those crystals. Great paint! (or save for later ofcourse)

I suggest the shaft be taken out of the game

True, saw a huge amount of them in Serpuhov yesterday. Stayed for about two minutes...and decided pretty soon they could have their own "party". Great fun all those stationary scopers, only looking for that tiniest bit of movement! ;) That description in the garage...does make sense do: you need litres of coffee to stay awake when using Shaft and because your body slowly gets in the same stationary position as your hull, often the only solution for having dinner is to order a pizza. :P
