What to buy? Which is better?

Don 't know how many crystals you have, but the Corrosion is still a decent paint at your rank. Did you micro-upgrade it? You can make a cheap Sandstone out of this paint when you do that. And along the way save money for other equipment... (if you decide to continue with the Thunder than Rustle could be a good choice, Rustle gives you plenty of self-damage protection) Just buy the hull you like! When I read your post about the turrets you use and what you like and dislike about them: I think the Smoky M2 might be just the gun for you! It has a high recoil so you can easily flip yourself back on your "feet". The Smoky has ofcourse no self-damage: another benefit especially when attacking. And...it fits on every hull. Smoky M2 is very powerful, you can compete against M3 's with it. It becomes available at Colonel, so you can save crystals for the Smoky M2 while ranking towards it. Good luck!

    Let's Discuss Viking!

Three kits of which I am only using two as I told you in the privacy of PM. So if you make things public than plz. also tell that one med kit is on my XP-account. Only there to be able to use Prodigi as a counter measure against offenders: which was a stupid idea because it will make me an offender too. Don 't play (ruined) XP anymore at the moment: still hoping (in vain?) for an official XP-gamemode first. Besides the huge benefit of Prodigi in the two other kits that I use there 's soon nothing else that gives me an advantage. (on my other main I 'm a Major and I have just one rank-benefit left on the Viking...maybe Emerald becomes more of use in the future, I hardly ever use it now) You really think that I never fight battles without Prodigi? Sometimes it 's good to fight clean, without any advantages or use of supplies: just to know where you stand. -_- Believe it or not, I still have high D/L 's. Very strange, must be pure luck! :D So you are going to MU your Hunter to 224 HP. Nice, that will indeed do the trick! Viking goes to 237 HP MU 'd and than it often will come down to who fires first. Still many others don 't or hardly micro-upgrade and than a basic 190 HP against a basic 220 HP means that the Viking is quite a bit stronger. I must be meeting those Hunter M2 's I guess! :P

    Let's Discuss Smoky!

Yes, you made a good choice! Though I would advice you to make a switch to Thunder M1 when you get the feeling that the Smoky M1 doesn 't deliver anymore. (Hunter/Thunder is amazing till LT Colonel when the Viking M2 appears) The Thunder M1 is the natural successor of the Smoky M1 and being a late upgrade: a lot stronger. So as long as you do well keep on "Smoking"! It 's by far the best preparation for playing Thunder you can get. All of that for only 11.000 crystals: simply amazing! :)

    Let's Discuss Viking!

So in your own words: from Lieutenant-Colonel when the Viking M2 becomes available, till Fieldmarshal when the Hunter M3 (which is a gem!) becomes available the Viking M2 is superior over Hunter M2... Well, I agree 100% with that statement! That 's why I really like Hunter M2 's on the battlefield: they are very "helpful" with getting solid D/L 's! :D Next you continue with: "that you should even dare to think of Viking" ??? Ok, than how is a genius like you going to bridge the huge gap between LT Colonel and Fieldmarshal: with Hunter M2? Good luck! (you are going to need it...) :P

Maybe we have to redefine "leaving" in this matter... :P

    Let's Discuss Viking!

No, the Viking is not that powerful at M1. The Hunter is powerful at M1. The Viking goes indeed well with Smoky and Ricochet, but the hull only becomes (very) powerful with the M2-upgrade of the Viking.

    Let's Discuss Smoky!

Yep, the Prodigi does give an (unfair) advantage, I don 't deny that. I was really just surprised about the range of the Smoky, because I thought it would be pretty useless in Stadium! Most trouble I had from a Rico who was very skilled with his weapon. Most of the time I 'm driving and shooting irregurlarly in a sideways fashion (on purpose... ;) ): still he kept his aim quite well and didn 't miss a lot. Even while I was suffering more damage, it 's was good to see a skilled Rico-player. You see too many badly used Rico 's these days: not surprisingly because it 's very strong/OP and even delivers when used badly.

    Let's Discuss Smoky!

The Smoky even works in Stadium! With the use of DP 's that is. Done it without the use of health packs except the ones I could pick up. These health packs can make you complacent: which leads to stupid and avoidable mistakes IMO. Btw. it was a druggers battle, only a Mammoth/Thunder with Mary paint used almost none. Sorry if I made that impression about you in my post. I was just reacting on your proposal for two seperate drugging systems. The part about whining was referring to a monky in Canada that rules with magic. :P

    Let's Discuss Smoky!

Tried your theory and I believe your right. If you miss a shot the critical still comes with the same number of shots inbetween. So indeed, you don 't loose the critical! Good to know, thanks! :)
  11. Lord-of-the-Snipers

    Let's Discuss Smoky!

You sure? I always thought that criticals could get lost in the air, but if I am wrong than I will ofcourse change it in the post. Do you have a link where I can find more info about this? Still it would mean that you loose a normal shot, but that won 't be half as bad as loosing criticals.... so I really hope that I 'm wrong and you are right! ;)

This has already been proposed many, many times. If it was so easy Tanki Online probably would have implemented it: it could have been the best solution IMO. It 's as far as I understand technically difficult to maintain two different drugging systems. Two systems means a lot of different parameters and a lot of extra programming, manpower and ofcourse money. You also probably need to use seperate servers. To take something away or adding something in the same drugging calculation, like it is possible in a Pro Battle, is a very different thing than having two systems besides each other at the same time: Smart Cooldown and 234, that use a "different drugging calculating base" will not co-exist easily. Than again, Tanki could also be on a steady course towards the Tanki Online they have already planned. And I suppose they don 't want too complicate the game in all kinds of different possibilities and seperate sections... With the future Unity they will already have to maintain two Tanki Online 's for a certain period. Which will be quite costly. I suppose that they will promote the new Unity version a lot so most of us Tankers will soon make the transition to it: but it 's a smart and necessary move to give everybody the time to adapt. Tanki is still a fairly new game which is constantly changing. If you don 't like that than you can keep on whining if that makes you feel allright, but you better realize TO will just do his own thing in the end. I like this transition period, it 's bring a lot of new and exciting changes! And overal I like the way the game evolves. With a more positive attitude and a bit more willingness to adapt: we would ALL be happier! :P

    Let's Discuss Smoky!

Just got the Smoky M2 with the Helloween discount, but as I already suspected and at least hoped for: it 's WOW! A bit soon for a comparison between Thunder and Smoky, but here we go... :) Both guns have their pro 's and con 's. You just have to know your weapon well, so you don 't use it the wrong way! Smoky must never be used as a far range turret! The shots just become insignificant in damage. It still happens which translates into Tankers wasting precious shots and even worse criticals. Thunder on the other hand can do far-range with ease: never duel with a Thunder at distance if you are not a Shafter or Railer! Only time I can think of a good use of Smoky as a far ranger is with DP to snipe that runaway flagcaper! Smoky operates at it 's optimum at mid-range, but if the enemies come to close it 's a way better self-defender than Thunder. Zero self-damage and especially impact force do the trick. Smoky 's impact force on other hulls is very useful, if you shoot well on target and hit their hull 's corner it 's fairly easy to let Railers and Thunders miss their aim. Even Rico 's are temporarily out of aim, which if successful can be continued with your next shot. Than again, a good Rico player knows the same trick as you do...and shooting Twins of aim is even more difficult... Aiming off a fellow Smoky is a question of timing. Shoot just before he shoots you. If he had the first shot, just before yours he knocks you of aim and won the first round. Now you have to wait and accept his second shot as well: finally you can try to take over if you are not respawning yet.... Light hulled close-rangers can be shot off track in the same way, so it takes them more (precious) time to reach you. And ofcourse: the critical! By some (nooby I may add) players considered as pure luck and a reason to see Smoky as a noob 's weapon. Well, Smoky is far from a noob weapon! You need good skill to make it work. It 's important that you don 't waste shots! A good thing I just recently know myself thanks to generalissimo DiSoRderLy is that the critical doesn 't get lost in the air if you miss that shot. I always thought it did. Smoky 's critical appears in fixed cycles after a certain amount of hits, so if every fifth shot on target is a critical, than if you miss that fifth shot: the sixth shot on target will be the critical. Still wasting normal shots is bad, you already need quite a lot of normal Smoky shots to kill an enemy, and delaying the critical by missing shots isn 't very helpful either. During two month's I 've been training with the Hornet M1/Smoky M1 on a newbie account. This time with "advanced aiming skills": than the Smoky M1 really shows it 's hidden power! This ofcourse counts for every weapon used on a newbie account, but IMO even more so with the Smoky M1. First I will use the Smoky M2 on a Viking M2 (a lot more effective than on a Hornet M2) to change to Hornet M3/Smoky M2 at Major General. On my other main account I will continue with my other favorite combo for many ranks to come: Viking/Thunder. Thunder has always been my main weapon and it will continue to be that on that account for sure! Why not love two? Too complicated in the real world: easy in Tanki. :D Splash-damage AND Criticals! Now knowing a bit about both weapons at M2, I have the feeling that if you compare a non micro-upgraded Thunder M3 with a non micro-upgraded Smoky M2 you won 't find a huge difference in performance. Thunder will do a bit better in larger Maps and Smoky will do a bit better in smaller Maps. The difference comes if you micro-upgrade the damage (reload) of the Thunder M3. Being a M3 weapon this really pays off and will make the Thunder M3 (if we let paints out of the comparison) stronger than the Smoky M2. My first longer run with Viking M2/Smoky M2 and Prodigi:

What to buy? Which is better?

Prodigi micro-upgrading: Firebird: 5% is useless, 6% also: done IMO Railgun: 46% is already more than sufficient, 47% for just 1256 crystals is ok though: done Shaft: 15%, it depends on the hull you are using if this is enough, 19% for 6219 crystals?: done Shaft is also becoming a lot less common at your rank, take that into account... Thunder: 22%, this is the important one you should invest in if you want to make Prodigi really count. Thunder will be found on every Map and every single shot is very damaging as you know. At least you better try to MU the first 5 steps. This will cost you 29015 crystals and will add 10%. Thunder at 32% counts! Prodigi now, after spending an undiscounted amount of 36940 crystals: Firebird 5% (was 5%) Railgun 47% (was 46%) Shaft 19% (was 15%) Thunder 32% (was 22%) Hope it helps! edit: forgot to mention the Emerald, because I hardly use it. Prodigi is way more effective in most Maps. Only if you let 's say have a Deathmatch and encounter lots of Thunders ánd Twins, Emerald becomes by far the better paint. Even if you are a Thunder user (self-damage) yourself Prodigi is in my view the paint to use. Railprotection is the obvious key! Twins are also not that common at your rank, besides a Twins that gets in you in his shooting range is always very damaging, same as Shaft. Most of the time you are left barely hanging on: I rather respawn.

What to buy? Which is better?

If you got the Medium M2 kit, than you better use it. It 's simply OP. I would advice you to use this combo for a while, before making further decisions. If the Thunder doesn 't suit you, than you can still go for the Rico M2, but I believe that the Thunder will and certainly cán surprise you. Thunder ranks nicely also, a lot better than the Rico M3 which takes ages to become available. Still the Rico M2 is (too) OP and can last a lot of ranks. Besides the Rico will perform always well: if you are skilled it can be amazing, if you are unskilled it still performs very good...the gun is made for Pro 's or noobs or strange combinatons of those two... :P Thunder doesn 't perform well if you don 't use it the proper way: you must really understand, and know how to use Splash-damage. Both weapons fit nicely on the Viking M2 and at M2 level in CTF 's and TDM 's there 's hardly any competition IMO. (Viking and Thunder are always like peas and carrots, the Rico M3 is a bit better on Hunter M3 it seems.) Good luck!

    Let's Discuss Isida!

    Smart Tanker! ;)
  19. Lord-of-the-Snipers

    Let's Discuss Isida!

It 's not bad, but the Hunter does lack speed. With nitro on it may well become the best hull with Isida, without it 's mediocre IMO. And you are not always on nitro, neither should you. Wasp/Isida is great in CTF, good in TDM and not that useful in DM... Better use Hunter/Isida in DM or maybe even better: another combo... The Isida is a versatile weapon which best should be used like that. The Wasp IMO is the most suited platform. You can keep up with your speedy teammates, rush in where your attention is needed in attack and defense and so on. Wasp 's lack of armour is an issue, but Isida 's self-healing does compensate pretty good! Besides, this translates into engaging gameplay with Isida: if you don 't use its versatility it becomes boring very soon. In my earlier Tanki days I considered it the most boring weapon of all because I used it solely in defence. The "honour" of most boring weapon is now gone to the Shaft, but hey you never know what will happen in the future! ;) One moment you are healing your camping Shaft teammate, (just once plz. don 't become one of those camping Isidas...) the next moment you are part of a fast attack with Wasps and Hornets where you try to heal the attackers that aren 't already doomed. Just in this manner you already contribute a lot to a possible success. Enemies that get to close are a great prey for your nanobots and healing your fragile Wasp in the meantime isn 't bad either, and if the defence is weakened enough or unalert Wasp/Isida is without a doubt one of the best flagcapers there is... with or without nitro...

    this game has changed ALOT...

The old kits are still available, but not for long anymore. My prediction (not worth a penny..) is that at maximum within one month they 're gone. The new kits no longer have the rank benefits, but seem to become very nice in price. If you can combine them with a weapon- or hull discount, and already own (a) prior upgrade(s) of the included equipment the overal price can even become extremely low. Nice for buyers, but even more so for non-buyers!

[Issue 28] Ranks: Tanki and the Real World

quote: "There are just 23 people in history that have been dubbed Generalissimo, including Joseph Stalin and Kim Jong-il. It is therefore very appropriate that the Generalissimo rank is right at the top of the Tanki rank ladder." Don 't particularly know if these two questionable historical figures are the best representatives for Generalissimo 's... :D
