    Let's Discuss Titan!

Can't decide if I want to MU this to M4 or wait one more rank and buy Mammoth M3 or get Mammy in a kit (with Vulcan). I bough Titan for Poly CP and it's good, even for golds. With Twins, I've even been able to push away a few Dictators to get it

    Let's Discuss Viking!

M3 with 42MUs. So close... And Good God, what an amazing hull this is the closer I get to M4.

    Let's Discuss Ricochet!

PrincessSeraphina, given what I have seen you do in battles using Rail with double damage , I am not sure you will like Ricochet. Sure with DD on it's a slaughter, but it's a much slower one. And you're enemies will pop repair kits when you are halfway through your clip. It can be frustrating. I'm not really sure where the sweet spot is with Ricochet in terms of MU. I think 15 is where you start to get an edge over other M3 turrets, assuming you have played earlier versions of Ricochet and are comfortable with the turret. Again, I love Ricochet, but M3 is really not when you want to learn this turret for the first time. Make an alt and get a feel for it at M0. If you like it, get it on your main at M3 but be ready for a lot of tabks wearing Clay - don't even bother taking on a Twins tank wearing clay. You're toast. Making matters a lot cloudier is the fact that when Rico M3 unlocks, even early in a kit, you're pretty much forced to play with Generalisimos. Every once in a while I will bring my Rico M3 with 30ish MUs into a non-Gismo battle, and I can pretty well clean house. But with Gismos - I'm usually either at the bottom or near the middle if I have a good game. Then there is the fact that Rico gets just about the least improvement out of MUs... I think it is the second worst turret in terms of ROI. If I wasn't a die hard Rico fan, I'd definitely be putting my crystals into Isida or Twins, both of which get a lot more punch out of each MU. .

    Let's Discuss Paints!

Preach. But there are some exceptions. An upgraded Loam makes you nearly invulnerable to a fire attack. Clay for Ricoccet. Rock for Twins. Tiger for Hammer. Etc. My personal favorite is Loam, which I upgraded before the MU change. Firebirds can't understand why they run out of napalm while I stick my tongue out at them.

    Tanki X — Discussions

This makes no sense. Tanki Online has spent years tweaking the balance of turrets, paints, and hulls. Why has that balance gone out the window in Tanki X??? I don't buy the "it's a different game" answer. Same maps (for now), same hulls, same turrets, same power ups.... Disclaimer-I have not played TX but follow this thread to read what is going on.

What to buy? Which is better?

Every time I see Touché all I can think is that it is the Douche kit

    Let's Discuss Product Kits

Hmmm, I had forgotten about the "no kits for Gens" aspect. I wonder then if Tanki would make the kits available to Gens if they make the change to remove individual item purchases. I agree that such a change becomes increasingly unlikely. The question then becomes what will happen to future discounts and sales? The standard for kits is now 40%. With kits now available on rotation for nearly every imaginable combo, why buy separately? Who will even care about a 25% sale? A 35% sale?

    Let's Discuss Titan!

Yeah, I get to the gold, and push other tanks out of the way just fine - then that Dictator just comes and climbs on top of me. Edit- not entirely true. Before buying Titan I would be lucky to catch one gold a week in my Viking. Now I can reliably get 2-3 golds in a week with Titan. .

    Let's Discuss Titan!

I like Titan's sidewall design better than Mammoth's. The latter looks like the tank is dragging it's behind on the ground. I also like Titan's triangular design. The top down views seems a bit confused though - lots of irregular rounding. Overall I get the feeling that this tank can't decide what it wants to look like - muscular or angular.

    Let's Discuss Titan!

Are you accelerating at the time? Viking (the Pancake) is VERY easy to overshoot. Even with my Viking, I have to stop moving if I want to reliably land a hit on another Viking.

    Let's Discuss Titan!

I bought Titan M3 on the 50% sale and have been slowly MUing it. I think I am about at 10/50. I votes Twins as the best combo and use this often in Poly CP (obvious) I also think Isida pairs well for camping in the Poly CP pit tunnel and healing your team mates as the two or more of you hold the point. Highly effective, so I'm surprised Isida isn't higher in the poll results. Have to disagree with Smoky. Smoky is good and you can do well, but you will have your kills stolen very often by other players using Twins Thunder Hammer Smoky and Rail. I would have rated Smoky as number three, maybe lower, but my Smoky M3 may also be suffering from MU withdrawal, also approx 10/50.

What to buy? Which is better?

I'm an Atlas fan, but I don't think is is for you. I will say the same things as many others. Get a few more ranks under your belt, save your crystals and buy M3 equipment.

    Let's Discuss Product Kits

So many good kits - I just thought of something. Could it be that Tanki is moving away from individual item purchase? Kits soon could be the only way to buy equipment. Same as the MU change took away the ability to buy separate attribute upgrades?

    Good point, thank you.

    Let's Discuss Hammer!

Sorry I shouldn't have generalized. I mean MY Rico is Vastly superior to MY Hammer, which is a direct result of my experience with Rico combined with nearly twice the MU investment.

    Let's Discuss Viking!

Yeah, Viking M0 is not good at high ranks. Troll complete. :)

    Let's Discuss Ricochet!

You are absolutely right. Rico's bounce is surprisingly effective in Polygon. Some others locations- -The gap between the house and the low rise cliff (opposite side of the map from the large ramp) -The hiding spot under the small ramp (directly below the pipe and double damage supply drop)

    Let's Discuss Ricochet!

Couple of things- 1-Poly CP is a short to mid range map with focus on a single point. When battles heat up there is A LOT of firepower entering and flowing through that pit. The three turrets you mentioned are good but you are leaving out Freeze, Twins, and Hammer, all of which excel in short range maps. 2-BUT smart players expect short range weapons in Poly CP and outfit themselves with protective paints like Rock, Needle, and Clay to keep those turrets at bay. So the SMARTER players check out what paints are crawling around and switch out their turret to one that most tanks aren't protected against. This is why I sometimes use Rico in Poly CP when almost no one recommends it. If there aren't a lot of Clay paints, I can usually clean up everyone wearing Rock because they are afraid of Twins. When I see a lot of Clay, I switch back to Twins or Hammer. I do the same with which Paint I wear based on what turrets are prowling around. Many other players do this too. Boar is a great M2 kit, for the reasons tou describe and the Sandstone paint. Even better if you get it on an alt account. You'll clean house, and wreck the light and medium hulls well through the M2 ranks. Just be ready to buy an M3 kit at Brigadier. M2 life ends when you reach that rank. I am intrigued by the new kits. Perfect combos of hull, turret, and paint were hard to come by with the vintage kits, many of which seemed purposes only to get some very obscure paints into players' garages. The new kits are like candy - sweet all around. Again, with so many kit combos priced at 40% off, will anyone bother with future sales lower than that? Sorry for wall of text ;)

    Let's Discuss Ricochet!

Spitballing, I'd say you need 15-20 for Rico to start living up to how it felt playing with M0-M2 (around unlock ranks). I've got about 30 into mine and it's good for most battles. Still have to be careful with heavy hulls - wait until they've used a repair kit before you attack, or try and pummel them before they can press 1. I gave Smoky another try last night (as you saw :) ) in Poly CP. I think I did a little better - stayed out of the pit and picked off some tanks as they approached or entered. It does deserve more MUs than I can afford to give it right now, but buffing that guy is on my TO DO list. Finally, it was good seeing you in battle the other night. Hope we can team up again soon.

    Let's Discuss Ricochet!

Gotta be the MUs. Or maybe practice. I have Smoky M3 with about 9 MUs and I can't do a thing with it in Poly CP.

    Let's Discuss Product Kits

Destroyer. Mammy-Twins is top notch and Lumber will keep you protected from those pesky Firebirds, Isidas, and Vulcans. Might want to pick up a good Twins paint on sale, too.
  24. austen_pierce

What to buy? Which is better?

For the first few ranks, last time I started an alt, everyone was using Hunter-Smoky, then buying Twins, then buying Firebird, then buying whatever they wanted. The Smoky-Twins-Firebird M0 progression was unavoidable to stay competitive. Forrester and Marine are essential starter paints, but get Storm as soon as you can. .
