  1. I agree the ODs they announced are 99% likely to be so out of balance there will be little reason too play TO any more. But I think this is just another unannounced project cancellation like teh turret alteration cancellation before completion. Let's face it. The reason TO has not fixed problems ongoing for a year or now now is because they do not have the programming talent to fix them.
  2. Tell you what. Railgun can be buffed just the way the troll whines/wants the same day they turn Smoky into a 1-hit medium hull killer too. Same firing rate for Smoky as it has now just up the damage so it can 1-shot a medium hull w/o needing a crit hit. Oh ... and double the chances for a crit hit and triple impact force too. No need to speed up turret rotation. I am not greedy. Why do you want for your favorite turret so this troll can get his wish as last?

Yes it will. It will do two things which I've mentioned before. So sorry for the repeat. Once a Highways (example) map is created after the re-boot that maps will not persist all 24 hours thus reducing the chance for me to find another map occasionally. The last hours of the day will not see 2 Brest 4 Highways and a Silence map among the 12 available CTF games every single day/ If I am put into a Highways map each team will not consist of 7 shafts who sought out that map, all competing to shoot up the 2 or 3 enemy tanks who try to snag a flag of cap a point. No MM wiil not resolve every problem but it will chip away at these. Not everyone finding themselves on Silence will have a Magnum in the garage to swap into.

    Let's Discuss Magnum!

No other turret makes me quit games. I am tired of having to go Magnum hunting in every single %#%#$%#$^# game I join. TO seems to have no plans at all to fix any bugs in the game or to improve game balance. They just paper over teh flaws by introducing more stuff we have not asked for, Assault mode is a fiasco. Vulcans overheat for no reason for a year now. About a quarter of the re-designed 10x10 maps are un-playable unless you are a Shaft/Magnum camper. 95% of all ongoing games are not worth joining because they are already blowouts. You fight Magnums, Twins, Ricos, and Thunders is every game. Fighting Hammers, Freezes, Vulcans or Strikers is something of a novelty. Even the old standby Smoky is not seen that much. But TO will being us Juggernaught instead. Look at the shiny object tankers! Send us your money. Bite me.

That was basically my comment on noobs. It's just that I'd just re-watched Cloud Atlas. : With MM my reading of TO's intent is this. During times of high use you'll see games filled with tanks w/in 1-2 ranks of each other. During periods of high use the MM system will have widen the net to fill out teams. I do not think MM will go strictly by rank but rather by Rating Number. Rating numbers depend much on the rank but not entirely. So even during the highest use there will be some variation in ranks. Your idea to kick off games as 6v6 or so is interesting. I hope TO consideres that idea. I hope so. I just quit playing again because I was tired of once again finding 2-3 Magnums on every enemy team. Every game is the smee old same old thing ever damn time.

    Let's Discuss Striker!

I do not know what the "best"hull is because I've used only two, Titan and Hornet. Titan is what I use most because it has twice the HP basically. But other times you want the speed to get around the map. "Best" varies. More important is how the hulls affect shooting. On Titan aiming is easier because it is more stable. But more stable means you cannot deflect shots as much with hull rocking. You can also chase people and keep the salvo beam on them. And after playinhg on Titan awhile you just want to use Hornet for some high-speed fun. I use this build. I've been seeing this combo more often recently. In fact this week I've run into quite a few Strikers including a pair of Striker / Hornets on an enemy team once. WALL-E .. lol You are right. How does it fight?

    Let's Discuss Ricochet!

There;s nothing magic about those four turrets, My most-used modules is Fire/Twins/Rico because it works not because I lose with it equipped.
  8. LittleWillie

Post here your issues with lags and server instability

Me too. Game locks up constantly. Either it crashes entirely. Or my screen freezes for 4-5 seconds. The tank keeps ding whatever it was doing. Usually falling off a cliff of just moving into the op-en to be shot to pieces. Even more frequently I will spawn and eithe that tank or the turret will not respond to one of the arrows (eg rotate right, turn hull left). The other directional arrows work but one wil not respond again for a few seconds/ Also bewn seeing me shoot a tank, red numbers go up, but the tank drives halfway across the map before blowing up. Such a quality game the so richly deserves financial support .... not. I don't know why I am wasting my time reporting this. They still haven't fixed the vulcan heating bug in nearly a year now. Utter unprofessional incompetents.

    Let's Discuss Ricochet!

Speaking of bouncing balls I still laugh (bitterly) when I recall the day TO nerfed Rico's bounce effect by "limiting" it to "only" 20 bounces. That's pretty much a meaningless limit. I would not say Rico is fine as is. I think it should be dialed back a wee little bit but not too much. Perhaps a genuine limit of ~5 bounces would be a place to start. Or have it lose 5% damage per bounce, maybe that's even better. Rico and Twins are very similar. But Twins deserves ore of a dial back than Rico. That weapon has a preposterous impact seeing how fast it fires,

    Let's Discuss Twins!

I think Tanki is missing a golden opportunity to make some operating money w/o selling players and advantage in the game. They could sell designer Twins Bricks in the Shop. Stamped with the Tanki icon and notched in the right place to keep the spacebar securely depressed in the heaviest firefight the Twins Brick would be a top seller. Players have labored under the burden of using ugly dusty brick bricks for too long. :o   :P

    Let's Discuss Vulcan!

The Vulcan nerf was epic. Damage reduced, impact reduced massively, vertical firing arc reduced greatly (ppl forget that one) AND the gyro change. It was the Magnum of the day. It is no wonder usage dropped so much and the weapon deemed "worthless". At the time I said the bump of weak damage to 50% was of little benefit. I was wrong about that. 50% damage anywhere w/in sight and long constant firing makes enemies miserable. Even if you do not kill them yourself they are being worn down. If a team mates finishes them off you do get exp for it. As for the gyro change, before uit was almost impossible to throw off a Vulcan from hitting you. Now with Smoky I can even if for a split second. But that saves me from enough damage that the Vulcan dies before I do. However the gyro nerf had an upside, at least for me in my nutty Wasp build. Now I can swing my aim quickly by turning my hull and weapon together. Before the gyro would try to keep the muzzle pointed in the same direction even though the hull was turning. On the other, other hand the gyro effect gives my lightweight wasp combo a sort of '2nd gravity" ... a sort of resistance you can use to sort of brace yourself when in a close-range melee fight. With full gyro that force was very strong. You wouldn't tip as easlly because tipping means losing aim on the target and the gyro was having none of that. It is really hard to describe and it was quite long ago now. I remember changing the point of aim was very sluggish but once you got that muzzle swung around the enemy found you a bulldog to get off. Now the muzzle swings faster but you're far less stable. But on the other, other, other hand when I rented the m1 alteration that even further removes gyro force I hated it. That stability provided by even the nerfed gyro does SOMETHING to help keep my unstable wasp build more stable. Muzzle rotation was TOO fast and the combo too unstable ... and for that I lose even more vertical arc? Nope. No sale. Never no how. Not for me. Well that was long and dull. I guess the take home message is the gyro effect is really complicated in the ways it shows up. The bottom line is the weaker gyro is a net benefit to my Wasp build. But lose more gyro effect and it would be a net less. On heavy hulls .. I have no idea how much.the gyro nerf matters, pro or con. But there probably is some pro mixed in with the con.

    Let's Discuss Magnum!

You are absolutely right Conq ... skill IS skill. When Magnum is in the hands of a better grade of player you can tell. The visceral reaction is felt after reading claims a great deal of skill is needed to use it, period. Magnum controls are pretty much the same thing as the computer golf game controls used for three decades. Tap button, backswing starts, tap again backswing ends and golfer strikes ball. Longer backswings mean stronger shots. Selecting the muzzle angle is like chose the right golf club. I've never hjeard those games described as hard. They are among the simplest PC games. But ti does take a little bit of familiarity to learn the alaunch angle (club selection) and shot % (backswing timing). The difference is seen in the phrase "close only counts in hand grenades and nuclear weapons". Add "Magnum" to that list. PC golf demands more in terms of acuracy than does TO Magnum. But in both games the better skilled player will be obvious.

    Let's Discuss Magnum!

People who buy the easiest OP designs in a game of course enjoy the ease of using an OP item. The turret plays the game so the payer doesn't have to. "Demands skill" hahahahahahahahaha We haven't heard that one before. It never becomes fresh. It is rivaled only by Twins players who think it takes skil to place the brick correctly on the space bar.

    Let's Discuss Vulcan!

So their aim could be disrupted by impacts., That was the reason given. For my wasp combo that change was a boon. I think. It has been aloong time and the change was made not too long after I took up vulcan. IMO Vulcan is one of the least favorite turrets to have on an enemy team. They whittle you down from afar. But it is a "legitimate" least favorite. Not like Magnum which is just an OP piece of crap design.

    Matchmaking, Missions and Non-Buyers

When many players are laying the game the MM system will be able to fill games mostly with similar players. During times when few are online the MM system will have to place a wider range of players into the same battle. As for a noobs go it is good for a game to give players room to learn. But at some point it is up to noobs to stop being noobs. As the line from the movie Cloud Atlas goes, "The weak are meat and the strong do eat".

    Let's Discuss Striker!

During the Christmas / New Year event mission requirements forced me into some DM on the big holiday map. When playing my Striker / Titan I most always finished in the top three of 24 on that map. But GM is so dominated by luck it is hard to draw conclusions. That map was large enough to reduce the spawning location luck. So there was a chance to get some supplies up before the guy spawning behind you killed you 2 seconds after you killed the guy you had just spawned behind. If you lived through the spawning danger the joy of splash damaging every tank proved quite beneficial. I'd say Smoky is weak at DM. While you are chipping away at your 8-shot kill some big-hitter blast you to atoms in one shot. But take this all with a lot of salt because I avoid DM almost always-zzzzzzz.

    Matchmaking, Missions and Non-Buyers

I did not say one tank having an advantage to skill was "unfair". I meant a player with greater skill will win much more often. Fair or unfair is not the point. If I am running a game company I want players to stick around to give the game a chance. If new players get pounded over and over they might not stick around long. The powerful DD/DA in this game let new player to clobber some enemies from time to time. That might encurage more players to stick around a bit longer than a steady diet of getting pned. As I said offered as food for thought.

    Let's Discuss Striker!

I have never seen single shots curve. I suspect parallax error or a similar optical effect.
  20. LittleWillie

    Matchmaking, Missions and Non-Buyers

Obviously when the better tank has the supplies advantage it wins. The point is It wins when it the supplies advantage is even. If there were not supplies the weak tank loses. But because these DA/DD supplies are OP they allow even the worst tank to win a few. Or consider perception. Most players agree Magnum is OP. But it cannot be drugged up all the time. I suspect (but cannot prove) that were there no supplies in TO the OP nature of Magnum would be so constant and widespread the outrage against it would have force TO into some action by now. I just ffe this way of looking at the matter as food for thought.
  21. LittleWillie

    Matchmaking, Missions and Non-Buyers

I've been back and forth on TO supplies. They are not clever designs that is for sure. But I will credit them with one thing. They cover up the imbalance issues somewhat. A less-skilled player or a player using less-powerful weapons can still win occasionally when they catch the better tank w/no supplies active. The powerful DA/DD effects tend to mask smaller imbalances inherent in designs. I've never played BP/XP because I do not own a Rail > m0. Might I ask what you mean by 'toxic'?

    When you were a nub...

When I was a nub...... I'd heard there were clans in the game. So I assumed you had to be in a clan to play CTF, TDM, or CP. SO I played nothing but DM for like 3-4 weeks. Finally I thiught ... why not just click on that game and see what happens ... Oy vey.

    Mission Chains Update [April 27th]

That is an interesting question I've never considered. Hmm . . . Also will people leave battles quite so readily after say 1 or 2 flag caps? If you might just be sent back to the same battle will ppl just try staying al ittle longer? I think the psychology might change too. And of course if the battle fund distribution is changed being a the losing side would not be an utter waste of time. The maximum award will be bigger than it is now and you still want more. The fact the maxi is reched at wk 10 does not mean you get more stuff free. The max is the max. No but on average the value of one container is worth about 9,000 Cry in cash and supplies. That assumes paints are worth nothing. So you will getting 9,000 - 1,600 = ~7,500 more income per week than you do now but you still whine whine whine. Why stop at 10,000 Cry. Why not whine for 100k / week or a million? Pfft.

    Mission Chains Update [April 27th]

Here's an example of why the Pro game section fails to provide the variety people just assume it does provide: When Matchmaking come in everyone will be able to use this section. But I doubt much will change. 70+ mapsd to chose from and this is what you see every day. Only a half dozen are actually used. At least basic battles use 20 maps.

    Let's Discuss Striker!

There is absolutely not going to be a one-launcher striker. That would be a new turret new graphics new everything not an alteration. If they made alterations for this I'd suggest something that makes it easier for new users but reduces damage potential. So skilled users would reject it. Sort of lhow the Isiad and Vulcan alts might be described. But after this long alts for Striker would be sort of moot ,,, even insulting to the player base. Meh .. what do you expect from amaeteurs?
