  1. I've played several ASL battles where blue went on the offensive at red team base, but lost severely because they were killing everyone but the flag bearers. The only reason for blue's existence was to make kill points, not to win the battle.

    Just sayin'

I started playing latter part of 2009 as @Torva-Messor. We helped Tanki break out of its beta shell so it could be free to develop and mature. The Devs asked for our help, we gladly gave them our help and the Devs listened. But they were inexperienced, one thing we didn't know. We wondered why it took so long to make changes. It was because they were learning as they went. It seemed, as they fixed one bug, 3 more appeared. Anyone who has seen a long string of code can tell you it can become very massive. If you change the code somewhere along the way, you have to backtrack or check forward to see how that one little change can affect the code already in existence. If you fix one bug, will that create another? If you introduce another element to the game, will that affect other elements. The best example I can think of, off the top of my head, is the relationship between Firebird and Vulcan. Firebird was in the game long before Vulcan was even a thought. Yet, when Vulcan was introduced with it's over usage burn, Firebird's after burn on enemy tanks affected Vulcan's self burn. How did they discover that? They reduced Vulcan's self burn and suddenly Firebird's burn became less effective. So, instead of going back through the code to see where the two turrets can be isolated, they introduced Alterations to Firebird and Vulcan to counteract the effects. Firebird and Vulcan are still connected, but the Alterations are isolated. In 2009, the game had many bugs and glitches, such as, turing turrets, major lags, being booted out of the game for apparently no reason, Ghosting (I'm not talking about the keyboard) and many others. In 2012, 2013, 2014 and part of 2015 the game was running smoothly. Very few or at the most, minor lags. Turning turrets....gone, ghosting.....gone, being booted out randomly....nearly non existent. Many of the other bugs and glitches went away, too. The game was even more fun. Then along came latter part of 2015 until present day, many of those bugs are back. Why? What made them suddenly reappear? Apparently, we did with our potato computers, lack of knowing how to dump caches, resizing screens, etc. Arguably, yes, some players needed to be educated. How many times has a player come back and said, "I tried all that, but it still isn't working right"? I've lost count the many times I was given the same links over and over again to the point of being so tired of the insult to my intelligence, I quit complaining. The game started running so poorly, I went out and bought a gaming computer with a few bells and whistles just so I could play a decent game of Tanki. Well, guess what? The Mods still think I have a potato computer, unable to handle the game. According to the system requirements, this game should be running as smooth as silk. I have this and more: ase Other Articles System Requirements Minimum system requirements~Processor: with clock rate not lower than 2.33 GHz for PCs or Intel® Atom™ with clock rate not lower than 1.6 GHz for netbooks. RAM: 1024 mb. Graphics memory: 128 mb. OS: Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10, Mac OS X 10.5.8+, and Linux. Recommended system requirements~Processor: Intel Core i3-i5, or other processor with clock rate over 2.33 GHz. RAM: 4096 mb. Graphics memory: 1024 mb. OS: Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10, Mac OS X 10.5.8+, and Linux. System requirements for Unity~ Processor: Intel Core i3. RAM: 4 Gigabytes of RAM. Graphics: Intel HD graphics 4000. OS: Windows, Mac, Linux, Andriod, and iOS. With these specifications, you should receive a stable 40 frames per second in a full 10 versus 10 battle So, why isn't it? The Mods read our suggestions and complaints. Pick out the ones the CM might be interested in. The CM tells the Devs what they want to hear. The rest is, what? Trashed? A game I played a few years ago and have recently gone back to, lost well over half of their players. Of those, most were paying members. The did a massive update that through the players for a loop. We had no idea what was about to happen, only that there was going to be big updates that we, the players, were going to love. It backfired. Now, before they implement any updates that will affect the game play, the Devs tell the players what their plans are and ask the players for feedback. It's discussed in the forums between the players and the Devs. Not only that, but they have a dedicated server strictly for the staff and a few hand picked players who have better gaming insight than the average player to try out new ideas. Yes, tanki has test servers, but not all the players are serious enough to try out the new features as intended. I've been on some of those servers and only a very few had any idea what was going on. It was chaos. Yes, I'm on my soapbox and it's past time to get off. Most players will pass this up, because their attention span is too short to read anything more than one or two paragraphs. Oh well, I said my peace and that's all that matters.

    Coffee or Tea?

The title is Coffee or Tea. The question is Coffee or Tea. The poll says Tea or Other. In keeping with the theme presented, the poll should have said Coffee or Tea or Other. This poll is unfair and obviously slanted towards tea. Because I'm an avid coffee drinker, I voted Other. Which, of course, puts coffee in the category with sports drinks, chocolate, milk, water and anything else one wants to put into the Other category. This poll will not sort out nor accomplish what the main theme has presented. The OP would make a great Politician. If he ran a political poll, it would read like this: Mark and John are running for Mayor. I think Mark would make a better leader. Fill out the ballot and cast your vote for Mark or John. If you think someone else besides Mark or John would make a better leader, vote Other. POLL Cast your vote, now. Mark Other

Forks or spoons? What cuts better? And why?

Yesterday, I cut a PB&J on marbled rye bread (pumpernickel and rye). This type of bread is very dense with a tough crust. I was able to cut it with a spoon, but not a fork. I couldn't use the back and forth motion to cut, it was more of a scooping motion.

  10. Most players anymore have no game sense. Look at this: 2.1.5. Sabotage — Any acts or omissions aimed at creating obstructions for the team where the User is a member, including in CTF, TDM and CP modes, fighting against the team of which you are a member (intentional selection of weak equipment, frequent pauses, inactivity or intentional failure to comply with map’s or game mode’s requirements, imitation of issues with internet connection), damaging/destroying an ally’s tank, fighting in the interest of the opponent’s team (conspiracy); How many times in the course of a day do you see this one particular rule broken time and again. How about "...intentional failure to comply with map's or game mode's requirements..."? Wouldn't you consider playing TDM on every mode just exactly that? In CP, going past or through the cp in the enemy color and not stopping to attempt to change it on the way to enemy base. CTF, shooting at the other team, but not the one who has just stolen your flag or even bother to give chase. I've seen Mammoths, by themselves, waltz in take the flag and waltz out without bothering to use any supplies, not even a SB. Not just once, but several times. Why? Because they aren't interested or don't care. In Osa, I've seen the entire team on the opposite side of the base from where the flag is. No one even paying attention to the fact that the enemy team was lined up waiting for the return of the flag. RGB, same as CTF, but not quite as bad. ASL, Blue team is at enemy base playing TDM, but not shooting at the ones carrying the flag. One player stays behind to defend, but is quickly overtaken by the 3 flag bearers. JGR, objective is to take down Juggernaut. Yes, the mode is DM, but killing everyone one else is not the objective. I think some players have taken upon themselves to make it a TDM, thinking they are protecting Juggernaut. DM, when two or more players team up, that's TDM within DM. The only game mode where everyone is playing the objective is TDM.

    im lonely

Okay, maybe this loner gig isn't your bag, your cup of tea. You want to make friends with others your age bracket. Then you have to go where they go. Teen Socials, a park, basketball court (even if you don't play basketball). Does your church have a teen night? If not, talk to your Pastor and see if you can spearhead one. Is there someone in school you have never spoken to? Seek that person out and strike up a conversation. Thing of it is, if you want to be a loner and you enjoy your own company, then develop that by doing things you enjoy. If you want friends to hang with, then you have to go where they go. The group isn't going to come to you. Do anything that will not get you into trouble with your parents or the Law. Sitting around moping is not the answer. You become mentally stagnant, emotionally deprived. That can lead you down a path you don't want to go. You came to us for advice. You've gotten a lot of it. Now, the ball is in your court. What are you going to so with it? You can choose to ignore the contents of this post, which you created, or do something with it. Change is hard, for anyone, including adults. Decisions have to be made and acted upon. The world is constantly moving, changing. If you don't move and change with it, you'll be left behind. No one is going to grab you by the hand and choose a path for you. You have to muster up the courage to walk down a beaten path many have gone before you. Or you can forge your own path into the dark and unknown. Life is one big adventure with many twists and turns. Embrace that adventure. Climb that mountain, hack your way through the jungle...whatever it takes, do it. Just don't idle your time and watch everyone else go by. That isn't the way life was meant to be lived. You're in your youth, this time will never be again. As you get older your teen years will become memories. Make them lasting ones that you'll want to visit often. Too many adults look back on their childhood and say, "I wish I had done (this)" or "I had the opportunity to do (that) but didn't." You will never pass this way again. Time marches on and you need to be in that parade.

    "My Flag" -complainers

I agree with you as game play is now. Seven minutes is hardly enough time for a battle to get interesting. I'll be quiet about the way it used to be. Used to be a man who opened doors for women and helped her push her chair under the table was called a Gentleman. It was done out of courtesy and respect for womanhood. Now, nobody gives a care. Like Tanki, it used to be, but now no one gives a care.

    Are you a genius?

I paraphrased a lot of it, because they were going into a lot of intricate detail about brain functioning. Basically, what it all boils down to, is not everyone's brain is wired the same way. As someone pointed out, some of it could be coincidence.

    "My Flag" -complainers

I did the same thing in my early days of Tanki in Brest. None of my team tried for the flag, but the other team had made several attempts. I went in by myself and grabbed the flag under heavy fire. I jumped down into the valley to grab a RK, but there wasn't one, I used one of my own. By the time I got back to our base, I only had a thread of health left. A Mammoth was sitting on our flag. He wouldn't move so I could cap. I know he saw me because he followed me with his turret as I surrounded him, trying to find some way of capping. I thought to myself, "Okay, you won't let me cap? Then you don't want it very badly." I went out of the building, into the ditch and carried it back to enemy base. They killed me and returned the flag. I logged out of the battle and watched the score from the lobby (before MM). That would have been their only cap. I knew, by the way the scores were stacking, my team was being spawn killed. No, it wasn't because they were short a player. Someone with a higher rank took my place within a few seconds. Again, this was in my early days of Tanki. Back then, it wasn't unusual for someone to save the flag for the one who stole it. We had team spirit, we played as a team. Battles were 30 minutes long, not 7. Everyone spoke English so it was easy to make battle plans. I told him where I was and he was coming up the ramp, but he died. It was a courtesy that was done often. So, don't throw me under the bus for playing in a fashion that was common play. Nowadays, there is no team spirit....there's no teams, just individuals who play on a team. Very rarely do you see a team play as a team, but when it does happen, it's beautiful regardless of which team it is.

    Are you a genius?

No, not Clickbait. I ran into this study, found it interesting and was passing it on. If you don't like it, that's fine. If not, that's okay, too. It's just for fun.

    "My Flag" -complainers

I've tried saving the flag for the one who stole it in the first place. Usually, he respawns someplace else and off to the enemy territory. This one time, I was saving the flag for the original bearer on Brest. I went up top and he respawned on the bottom, got in a fight with an enemy tank and lost. The enemy tank came up the ramp and I made a leap to cap the flag. He shot me, I flipped. He killed me, returned his flag, stole ours and capped. Had I gone ahead and capped instead of saving it, we would have gotten a few more points. After that, unless I actually see the original flag bearer respawn near me, I'll go ahead and cap.

Parents don't have all the answers and they certainly don't want their children to think they are dumb or stupid, so they create ways of hiding their shortcomings. I couldn't talk to my parents, either. Seems they always tried to use logic where logic didn't seem to fit. From the world of introverts comes scholars, tinkerers, inventors, crafters. Scholars read in search of knowledge Tinkerers try to improve on what's already there. Inventors think outside the box to come up with something new. Crafters create models...something out of nothing. What do all of these have in common, besides being introverts? They are thinkers. But to do this, you have to train your brain to focus. How do you do that? First, find a way to have silence. You don't need to stay home to think. Where ever you go, you take your brain with you. Your brain is your tool. Learn to use that wonderful, mysterious tool. When was the last time you spent a couple hours in a library? You don't need to read. Just grab a book, any book, off the shelf. Open it up to any page and just stare at it...not read, but stare (try not to fall asleep, Librarians frown on that). Well, if something catches your eye, then, yes, read it. Point is, a library is quiet, very conducive for thinkers. Maybe, with all this thinking you're doing, you'll come up with a solution to your problems.

Future of T.O - Your opinion

I made a typo and corrected it. It should have said, "The heaviest part of the tank is where the (hull) turret is." Any tank will flip if it lands wrong or hits an obstacle in flight. And as far as the bombs go, well, Titan can't get out of the way either...most can't because by the time they see the bomb, it's too late. Sure you have 3 seconds, but you have to take into consideration the blast range, too. Viking has a slow take-off, but it builds up speed gradually. No, it won't catch up to Wasp or Hornet, that's what your long range weapon and a good aim is for. If you really need a faster take-off, use a SB they help. Well, as they say, to each his own. You either like your combo or you don't, in which case you will change to something you do like. I'm not trying to talk you into changing your mind, you like what you like. Viking isn't for everyone. It all depends on your play style. I use Firebird with Viking. I can get up my speed and run through enemy territory spraying napalm and fire over the enemy as I pass through and then turn the turret and give them another spray as I leave. I'm not an aggressive player, I prefer a support role. Get the hp of the enemy down and let my team do the rest.
  19. A few days ago, I saw a woman trying to cross a busy highway in the middle of the block during rush hour. She was holding the hand of a Toddler and carrying a baby. They were standing on the double yellow line waiting for a break in traffic so they could finish crossing. At the corner was a stop light with a pedestrian crossing signal. With that Toddler, she wasn't going to cross 3 lanes very quickly.

That looks like a spork-knife. Fork and knife on one end and the spoon on the other. I've used sporks before, but never a spork-knife.

Yes, school has changed since I've been in, but that doesn't mean I don't know what goes on. What hasn't changed are the kids. I went to a small school in a big farming community. The school I went to was founded in 1945 (or around that time). My brother's graduating class was the largest in the school's history (at that time) at 102. Mine was the second largest at 90. That was because at least half on the kids quit school after the 6th grade. At that time, farming was simple. All you needed was read'n, writ'n and 'rith'atic. The rest was taught by the parents. High School was only for the college bound kids. So, don't tell me how tough school is when you are in the Have Nots group. I know how it is. Times have changed, but the kids haven't. You're going to school with the same kids I did. Sorry this is so long, but I wanted to share with you where I was coming from. You and I are not that different.

Why change it? Each hull has its own idiosyncrasies, no two handle alike in all circumstances. Some players seem to think that the only difference between hulls is the speed. There's more dynamics than that. I use Titan, Viking and Hunter. Neither of those handle the same in all situations. It's up to the player to find out what the differences are and how to either work around that or work with it. (HINT: Weight distribution. The heaviest part of the tank is where the turret is placed.)

    Your Battles

I haven't played in about a month. Got fed up with the lag and being booted out too many times even though I was moving around, spinning turrets which was a problem in the early days of Tanki. I thoroughly checked out my computer, had a Geek look at it, even called my cable company to have the equipment check. 'Taint me. I have more than enough power to play the game and more signal than I'm paying for. And don't send me any more links about dumping caches and reducing screen size. I'm finding that a bit insulting. I'm tired of players playing TDM instead of the battle objective, no team play and no team support. Constantly ending up on losing teams, being put into battles with less than 2 minutes of the battle left and a score gap so big you could turn a big rig around in it with ease. No more money out of my pocket. A game has to earn my money. I found another game to put my money into. Maybe that'll change with the new Tanki.

The first thing that popped into my head was, "How come this person doesn't have any friends from school?" That's usually where friendships are formed. There's a reason why you are reaching out to a gaming community of strangers for personal advice, rather than sitting down with your parents and having a heart to heart talk. They are you teachers of life and survival. There isn't enough information to accurately advise you. Do you live in a small rural community or in the big city? Are you afraid to talk to strangers face to face? Why? Are there any clubs or organizations available to you? Do you have any mode of transportation besides your Mom and Dad's taxi service? This is just an idea: I know a 10 year boy whose close friend went on a family vacation for most of the summer. He had casual friends in school, but because of personality clashes, he didn't want to hang out with them outside of school. He was bored and nothing seemed to interest him. He had a skateboard and went down to the skateboard park, but that started to get a little boring. He also had a bicycle that he rode out into the rural country for a change of scenery. One day, a neighbor came over and asked his Mom if she would mind running to the store for her to pick up a few things for supper. Both kids were sick and she couldn't leave them alone. His Mom complied. That gave him an idea. He had a bicycle and there was a little red wagon hanging up in the garage that no one was using. He rigged the wagon to the back of his bicycle and went around the neighborhood, knocking on doors and ask if he could run any errands for them. At first, everyone said 'no', but he kept it up, making his rounds everyday. As he was going around from door to door as was his routine, a woman told him that after he left yesterday, she thought of something she needed from the store, but she didn't have his phone number. He went to an office supply store and got a big pack of index cards. He thought of a unique name for his "business", included his name, his phone number and a catch little phrase. As he went around from house to house, he gave everyone on of his 'calling cards.' His business picked up. When he ran errands for people, they would ask how much they owed him. He explained to them that he wasn't doing this to make money, he just wanted something to do for the summer. At first, they gave him a dollar or two, but as they learned to trust him, those couple dollars turned into five dollars. If one person wanted him to go to a few places, they would give him fifteen or twenty dollars. By the end of summer, he had a very lucrative business. His territory extended from his neighborhood to other neighborhoods. When school started up again, he kept his business running on the weekends.

Forks or spoons? What cuts better? And why?

The question is not which tool is more practical, but rather which tool cuts better. Stabbing is not necessarily cutting. I remain neutral. Cutting is a back and forth motion that is done with knife. Neither spoon nor fork is sharp enough for this action to done efficiently. However, if you are talking about separating a piece of food from its main component, then maybe a spoon. A fork can shred, but you're not talking about shredding. A spoon can be turned at an angle to get the edge into the food and then do a scooping motion. But, here again, you're not talking about scooping, you're talking about cutting. What type of food are you trying to cut? A steak? Vegetables? Cake? Pastries? Mashed potatoes? Ice Cream? If I'm cutting a steak, neither one will do the job efficiently. However, if I'm cutting a hamburger, then the fork would be more efficient. But then, on the other hand, you didn't mention food, food is assumed because of its association with a spoon and fork. To analyze this further, a spoon usually has a thinner edge than of fork. So, probably, if given enough time and the proper angle of the spoon, the spoon, theoretically, the spoon would be more efficient. To be perfectly honest, I don't want to wait that long to eat my supper. I'll get off my lazy butt and go get a knife.
