Episode 93 of the V-LOG is here

Listen all, I need you to understand a very important thing — this update is still in the works. Despite his pretty scary schedule, Hazel has taken the time to pop in and explain a few details about it. That doesn't mean things are set in stone. Our programmers are working on creating a system that is fair and that makes the game more enjoyable. There are a lot of factors they need to take into consideration, many of which you have mentioned here. I assure you that this thread is being watched very closely for your feedback. All I ask is that you continue giving that feedback while maintaining a polite approach. Saying things like "DIS UPDATE GONNA KILL TANKI AND THE PLENIT WILL EXPLODE" doesn't help. Please, let's for once try to work hand in hand with these people. They genuinely want to create stuff that you'll enjoy — I can personally attest to that. Last week, Hazel was still answering my questions at 10:30pm my time (which makes it 1:30am his time). He could have easily told me to go bury my head in the toilet. C'mon. Let's do this, ok? Feedback, yes. Speculation and fear-mongering, no. Please.

I'd like to thank you all for contributing your work and for the support you've shown for the project, as well as the Wiki team for coming up with this cool initiative. Oh dear, I'm starting to sound like the minister for cultural and rural affairs now  Ok, I'm just gonna shut up lol. Just head to the official "Fan Art" section of the Wiki and check out those beauties :)

Maybe you should wait for the details before you start speculating and painting a negative picture. Let's wait and see. Remember it's a works in progress right now, so they're still working out the details. You'll know about sales next week. Cool :) What did you enjoy about it? Let's wait and see what they come up with. Programmers will be listening to your feedback and monitoring the situation even after they launch the update. As I said, let's see how this will work :)

    The Mid Ranker's Handbook

Hey Tankers! Leveling up as a newbie is easy. The XP builds pretty quickly and your opponents aren't much of a challenge. On the other end of the spectrum, life as a Generalissimo is pretty glorious. You've got a garage full of equipment, and you've got the skills to use it! BUT… the path in the middle is where the going really gets tough. You've got to budget your crystals and make sure you buy the right equipment, plus you've got to deal with the big bullies in the top ranks! So, the Tanki Online Newspaper is coming to the rescue with a series of articles specifically for those of you caught in the middle. There will be detailed guides, tip sheets, video and more. The first of these articles will be released soon. In the meantime, we’d like you to send us your top questions and challenges via this special form, so we can include them in upcoming issues! Also, let's get the discussion going in the comments below. We're sure there's a ton of topics to cover!

New series of Twitter fun challenges!

=======UPDATE======= Hey all, So, it seems the contest didn't get as much participation as expected... ok, ok, it was a massive FAIL lol. Anyway, here's how it's gonna go down. We'll be rewarding the top entries with 5000 crystals, and we're suspending the contest to see exactly what went wrong. For this though, I REALLY need your feedback. So, what's up? Why didn't you participate? What didn't excite you about it? What difficulties did you have? C'mon, I'm counting on you to shed some light on the flop :D ==================== Tankers! Are you ready for a new, fun challenge? Welcome to the Tanki Theme Time contest! Every week, at a random time and on a random day, we'll be posting a special theme and hashtag on the official Tanki Online Twitter account. From that moment, you will have a maximum of 48 hours to post a photo/image/video on Twitter, that combines Tanki Online with that theme. IMPORTANT — You will need to include: the official hashtag (as specified in the post for that week) your in-game nickname some way of showing that the video/image/photo you posted was created by you (this could be a piece of paper with your nickname on it, or maybe a graphical signature of sorts, included in your video/image/photo) Our favorite entries will each be rewarded with crystals. Prizes will be handed out on the following Monday. Important Details Videos must not be longer than 30 seconds. Anything longer than that will automatically be disqualified — no exceptions. Your entry needs to be posted not later than 48 hours after the contest post goes live. You have a full 48 hours. Anything past that will automatically be disqualified — no exceptions. All content must be appropriate for ALL ages — adult content or themes (including sexual or violent content, alcohol, drugs or explicit language) are strictly forbidden and will be reported to Twitter administration, as well as disqualified. The choice of winners will be solely at the discretion of the judges. All contest decisions are final and cannot be appealed. If you don't win, just smile, shrug your shoulders and move on. There's going to be a contest every week, so you'll definitely get your shot. Additional Details In case of claims of stolen entries that have been picked as winners, ownership will be determined based on who presents the most convincing proof. If no clear owner can be determined, the person who posted the work first will be considered the owner, and rewarded accordingly. Participants who are found guilty of submitting stolen works will be permanently banned from participating in the Tanki Theme Time challenge. It is entirely your responsibility to make sure that your nickname and the hashtag are written properly in your submission. If you've written the hashtag incorrectly, your entry will be considered invalid. Likewise, if you've written your nickname incorrectly, we will not be able to reward you if your entry wins. In cases where the contest is posted during the weekend, and the contest time frame overlaps with the next Monday, the prizes will be handed out on the subsequent Monday. All submissions to this contest are subject to the terms of the game's EULA, which can be found here: http://tankionline.com/en/eula/ So, get ready! The first challenge is coming soon!

    Tanki Thinking Challenge

Hey. Twitter contests are coming very soon. But I won't be announcing them, and they'll be posted randomly. Don't worry, these won't be about speed ;)

Please don't speculate. Our meeting isn't about the contest... it's about WORLD DOMINATION!!!

    Problems with Customer Service

I have to agree with Tareq here. Customer Support are constantly bombarded by the question "When is the next sale?" so it's really easy for them to revert to the default answer. Please be patient and contact them again to explain your situation. Making fun of them here isn't going to help solve your problem.

Episode 92 of the V-LOG is here

Nope, you really DON'T want to see the "glorious face" of our CM lol Well done. Really nice video :) Would be good if you could elaborate why you found it boring. "Boring once again" doesn't quite help us improve it. As we have already stated many many times, there is still no official answer to that question. We will let you know once a decision has been made. And no, the issue about flash does not raise the question at all. We were talking about Tanki Online. Rest assured, I won't lol Possibly. As was stated in the V-LOG, the devs are looking into a number of options. Because players will be playing Tanki Online long after Tanki X has come out. We cannot automatically assume that people are going to abandon TO. In fact, we're pretty sure they won't. I repeat, there is NO official answer about this, so please let's end the speculation. Nope. Usually around 30 seconds due to the sheer volume of entries we receive. Preferably Thursday afternoon at the latest. Give it a chance. Remember, the game is still in early Beta. Yep, I wanna come up with something cool :)
  15. Hey, Sorry for taking so long to reply. My replies below: Please don't generalize about Mods. Some systems and procedures take time to be adopted fully. I assure you the admins are doing their best to make sure the team is following along the proper lines. Also, compiling reports of how many people got punished, is outside the scope of this exercise. 1. Unfortunately, profanity exists everywhere. The only surefire way of protecting minors from these things is to keep them in a soundproof bulb — and we both know that doesn't make sense. The ignore list is the best alternative, because once you've placed someone on your ignore list, they can never come back to harass you with that nickname. Obviously, there are ways around it; there always are. But it's the best solution we have for now. Reporting people and getting them banned isn't as effective, because they will eventually come back. On top of that, policing at that level is a time consuming task for our mods, who would be of better use in other situations that cannot be "automated" 2. Yeah, unfortunately that happens. But of course, you can never be completely protected against that. 3. Nobody said it isn't 4. If you block someone, who cares? If someone insults you, all they care about is causing you grief. But if you're ignoring them, that's ruining all of their fun.

Let's not jump to conclusions. As explained in the V-LOG, it IS a possibility, but there are options, and our programmers are working hard on finding the best one. Have faith. Tanki Online will be around for many more years to come. I promise ;) Cool. Was there something in particular that you liked? Yeah, it is. There were other cool ones too. Unfortunately, we could only choose one winner :(

    50% Sale pls Tanki

Hey, just wanted to pop in to clarify something. We still don't know exactly what kind of celebrations and goodies we'll have for Tanki's Birthday. Of course it's gonna be good, but that's the best I can say at this point. Let's just wait and see ok? ;)
  19. Allow me to elaborate on this, and once again explain what we had already stated in the announcement when we removed the down vote button. The down vote button did not serve any real purpose. It actually killed the conversation in a forum. People were simply down voting without taking the time to explain their motivations for disliking a post. And that helped absolutely nobody. It didn't help us do a better job, and it didn't help the original poster, because there was absolutely NO feedback to work with. Additionally, the down vote system was often abused by people who wanted to gang up on and bully a particular person or other, and that is something that is unacceptable, not just in Tanki Online but anywhere. So, as stated, no, the down vote button is not coming back. On a final note, a little bit of decency when addressing each other really wouldn't harm. We're all guests here. Please behave accordingly.

    CLOSED — Cedric's "Virtual Office"

Hey all, Sorry if this is taking ages. There's a huge amount of replies to go through and I'm trying to sort it all out. Please bear with me :)
  21. Actually it's about how a healthy diet can help you sleep better (among other things). Junk food can really mess up your sleep. Not really. But lots of screen time right before going to sleep can really disrupt your rest.

    Tanki Thinking Challenge

As I've already said, it's impossible to set a time that is convenient for everyone. However, the intention is to create a series of Twitter challenges that will be published on the same day but 12hrs before, to cater for people in different time zones. In fact, if you have any ideas for these Twitter challenges, it would be great if you could post them here and I'll have the team working on them asap. PS That doesn't necessarily mean we'll be accepting ALL the suggestions. We'll be picking the ones that according to our judgement, will best suit the situation.

    ATTENTION TANKI REDDITORS !

@victrflo95, while I appreciate the initiative, I think that between the official forum, help site, wiki and social media, we already have everything covered. The forum is for discussion and user-generated content The help site is for "How to" The wiki is for "What is" Social media are for social conversation Sub-reddits are usually created for projects where there are multiple engaged communities. This isn't the case with Tanki Online. The community is very centralized. Instead of creating a sub-reddit, I think it makes more sense to invest that energy into generating higher-quality user content on the forums. Thoughts?
