Migrating to HTML5: your thoughts
ThirdOnion replied to ThirdOnion in Migrating to HTML5: your thoughts Archive
The Flash client is going to be discontinued soon. What do you think of the transition to HTML5? Will you stay or quit? Do you have faith in HTML5? Or is this the end of TO? -
At that time HTML5 emulated the Flash version's interface.

But how? Shaft is one of the better turrets. It can one-shot medium hulls without double damage - even double armour won't help. With RFM, it beats short-range turrets at their own game, not to mention that it can kill short-range turrets before they can even get close. Hornet's OD can also mitigate tunnel vision. With the recent changes to maps, new camping spots have been made available. I've found Shafts to be a very common occurrence in MM. Hopper's OD will be unlikely to cause any significant problems for Shafts. For one, it can only jump so far, and can only jump so often per battle. You'll likely be able to spot a Hopper coming well before it gets in range to jump. And I'd say it would be a waste of Hopper's OD to go jumping after Shafts. It would be more useful to try to cap flags or get on top of buildings. You're more likely to be killed by someone using Viking's OD or Hornet's OD.

Either shutting down Flash outright or simply not imposing any restrictions on Flash players until the very latest are both better than gradual feature reduction.

Steamcharts is not a good source for determining player count, because very few people play Tanki through Steam. You can find accurate player counts for the past five days at https://en.tankionline.com/s/statistics.txt

Are you perhaps below Master Sergeant? That's the minimum rank necessary to buy Double Armour.

Pause -> go to options.

The HTML5 client opens a new client window, but not a browser window, which to me is good enough to be counted as "in-game."

In Update #620 nearly all MM maps received undocumented changes. Although existing map geometry was generally not modified, areas which were previously inaccessible were enlarged and received extra detail. I originally thought that these changes were only cosmetic. But it now turns out that they will have gameplay ramifications. Many areas which used to be self-destruct zones no longer are. For example, I was able to easily get to this position on Kungur MM in a standard, non-parkour battle. The self-destruct zone has been pushed back a bit. Safe areas generally have bushes, but completely empty areas generally indicate a killzone. These changes are obvious targeted at Hopper, since it can get up to such positions easily. But other light and medium hulls also have fairly easy access to some of these areas. Should these positions exist? On the one hand, they certainly seem ripe for abuse, particularly by long-range turrets. On the other hand, they are rather exposed, and may not be all that overpowered. They also might introduce some new strategies and bring gameplay variety.

Agreed, something needs to be done about Compact Tanks. But I ranked Firebird below some other turrets because of its short range. You still need to get in close to do damage.

Turrets from best to worst, in my opinion, without augments: Magnum Gauss Railgun Thunder / Shaft / Vulcan Ricochet / Twins Smoky / Striker Firebird Hammer Isida Freeze With augments: Magnum Gauss Vulcan Railgun Shaft Ricochet / Twins Firebird Thunder / Smoky / Striker Hammer Isida Freeze

Tankoins are not meant for free players, at least not in reasonable quantities. Their main purpose was to streamline selling Shop items. Before Tankoins, each Shop item had a separate price for every real-life currency. Now, all Shop items have a single Tankoin price. They fulfill their intended purpose, so I'm not really sure what there is to discuss, at least for free players.

Alternativa's playing 6D chess here. Players complaining about lag? Make terrible updates so that the player count drops and the lag fixes itself. Problem solved!

Charges slightly faster than Wasp.

Tanki X already looked like this, and got shut down.

Perhaps try toggling NumLock and / or using the Numpad keys.

Special mode is really fun. Also great that everyone is evenly matched.

So what if someone who is bad at parkour can jump with Hopper? No one cares, since good parkourists will come up with new tricks with Hopper that have not been seen before and are difficult to pull off. All that is going on here is that both the skill floor and the skill ceiling are being raised.
-
If you don't like using an elevator, then crawl on the windows all you please. No one is forcing you to use Hopper. You are free to use whatever combos you want in parkour, and make it as challenging for yourself as you like. For those who want to use Hopper, it opens up new possibilities.
-
Disagree. Hopper will simply enable good parkourers to pull off even more impressive stunts then they already do. Put a new mechanic in the hands of good players, and they will develop new strategies and skills.
-
This is already a feature in HTML5.

What Is Your Opinion About the Current State of Tanki Online?
ThirdOnion replied to Maf in Game Discussion
Eh, I don't really think it's an issue. Remember when Magnum was released? Youtubers got it early, and for free. Now buyers will get it early, but not for free. -
Pretty smart move, from a business standpoint, with the early access thing. Because the bundle includes containers and augments in addition to the hull, people who buy it will be spending more than they otherwise may have.
