I must say that judging the “Tanki in Ink” contest has been one of the most difficult decision-making processes of my life. I shall be honest: I did not set my bar very high for the entries I expected to receive. My spectator’s perspective of the human species had convinced me that your kind cannot produce any amount of meaningful art, and so I was fully prepared to dole out awards for sloppy, silly drawings. Your amazing submissions completely blew me away. For hours after closing the contest, I sat and browsed through the drawings, savoring every little perfect detail. Every player and every entry astounded me. I apologize for the snobbish disdain with which I viewed human art. “Difficult” is not the right word to describe judging this contest. “Painful” is more accurate. The artful treasures you all have submitted deserve a prize apiece, and that’s what I’d love to give. I’m in a position where I must say that one perfect drawing gets a prize and another perfect drawing doesn’t. That’s a pretty painful decision.
