The only "power" any player had was the ability to drug constantly and max out his PAINT PROTECTION, which was always offset (in my experience) by players on the opposite team doing exactly the same. Players left when clans used to take over random battles because they worked together and were usually on voice, which is a major advantage.

There was no OP crap to buy but HACKING was a major problem back then and cheats got away with a lot, just like the trashcan cheats do now.

TO has improved a great deal over the years but because of the greed associated with those in charge it has went to rat crap.

It will never improve while their greed dominates over everything else.

The only players who come out on top with this OP crap are the maxed out Legends and the buyers, both to some extent go hand in hand with each other.

Just because we had less OP things to upgrade doesn't mean that buyers back then were weaker than now.

Now let's say flying monkey  is 5 on OPness scale.

OP augments is a 10 on OPness scale.

Drones and Prots are a combined 7 on OPness scale.

 

Back then fully drugged noob was a whole 50 on OPness scale.

Look I have most of the most OP toys and I can pair flying monkey with OP augments and another nonsense that is considered "meta", "OP" or whatever the hell. Like I said back then a "drugger" could single handedly WHIPE OUT THE ENTIRE ENEMY TEAM without any effort and cap flags while basically being unkillable. In DM if there was a drugger the best start would be to just avoid him because you had absolutely no chance and his repair cooldown ends before you can even damage him enough to make a difference and back in the day repair did not stop healing after you took damage. Now no matter what I use. Flying Monkey + lifeguard + driver + phoenix + infinite paladin OD + faust + -100% reload I cannot join a battle and basically be unkillable flag capping machine. no flying monkey using paladin OD or hopper jump and capping a flag just because 2/10 people in your team decided to attack it is not what Druggers could do back in the day.

Not any team I was in they couldn't, not unless they hacked, which like I said was common back then.

There will always be "weak" players on a team that a maxed out drugger can eliminate with ease, but to say the game back then was dominated more by druggers than it is now by OP augments and the floating trashcans is utter nonsense. 

Let's have a scenario.

Back in the day:- Hunter/rico with useless paint protection and turret maxed, but hull only at 50%. Goes up against a maxed out gizmo constantly drugging, outcome, rico gets demolished in 3 seconds. 

Todays game:- Same combo (meaning weak player) goes up against maxed out OPd to the teeth 250 LEGEND outcome, 50/50.

Now if you can't work out why the second scenario is 50/50 then I give up, but I'm sure you can.

As for the trashcans. They still dominate capping battles, this is a fact.

Not surprised, tanki has degraded so much that even the forum and it's other social media threads are affected by it, meaning very low activity day by day.

The sad part is it only gets more active if an update is about to drop or if a heated argument is occurring.

Back in the old days of the forum, you didn't need an argument to make the forum active because it was already active. I could point out how much better the 2016-2020 era of the forum was than the 2020-2024 era of the forum in so many ways, but the point is that its a shell of its former self.

The devs hold all the cards apart from the aces which the players HAVE, but they will not for a multitude of reasons use them.

I mean the adult would have a valid reason to complain.

The childish arguments are still childish no matter how you put it. Not to mention they can easily turn into flame wars, which if they happen often can ruin a community's reputation.

Sure the new game I'm currently playing, there were a few arguments that I've seen occurred in the 5 months since I've started playing it, however there was like probably 3-4 I've seen. Most of the time, the players are super chill.

In tanki, I could probably see like a few hundred arguments in 5 months with more than half of them escalating into flame wars.

Alot of people do it seems. Some will even participate in it even if it serves no benefit for them.
