Greetings, noobs and noobesses!

I managed to ninja them all, and got the holy opportunity to interview The Great Him *cough* *cough* Nives *cough* *cough*. I fought through the monsters in the mountains, monsters such as Hexed and such other mults dieing to interview this great man.. *cough* *cough* K I am outta butter.

I bring to you, a kitchen utensil born during an alphabetical crisis (Yis stole all the 'k's in the community), !

Hello! So this is your first interview in Tanki (not counting the job interview, of course). Excited much? Think you will spill some beans?

: Super excited! I was promised a proper grilling, let's see how big talk lives up to real questions ;)

The beans are in a tight can though, and it has a strange label - NDA

We all know this, but I must ask you to tell a bit about yourself. Interview necessary evils. :(

: I'm Sergei, I'm a 30 year old straight male and a Community Manager with bad humor. I started working in the games industry almost 5 years ago, and from the first job fell in love with community management - being able to talk with players and learn the game you work on from both sides gave me a tremendous insight into game development and how it is perceived by regular players. Being paid to spam people on the forums is also pretty nice.

How many years do you think you will be here, as our CM? In other words, how long do you think you will last?

: I hope a long time. Working on Tanki is astonishing in its potential opportunity, since this is my first project where the community actually runs the events, the chat, the Forum and even official social media pages.

Usually, when you're talking about an online game and CMs, you're holding everything pretty close to the chest, and coming to work on Tanki I was very surprised at how involved the players are as the Helpers into every possible side of the game. No matter how good, relentless or on drugs you are, at the end of the day every CM is only human, has to sleep, has to have some form of personal life not to go completely insane, and this is why I was incredibly impressed at how well organized and supportive Tanki community and current administration team are.

September was pretty hard on me and I began having troubles sleeping, stress levels were pretty rough at the beginning of October, and only thanks to the Helpers, mods and admins I was able to have any rest at all at night. I'm not saying this to get a cookie or to be nice - you, all of you who volunteer to help run the community - are true heroes behind Tanki. And the best I hope to achieve is to enable you to do even greater things, together :)

That answer is going to make a lot of people happy, once this interview is published.

From what we saw of you in the livestreams, you are a mult *editor whacks me on the head* *"You don't call your CM a mult! You got Yis.Rabbit to test that word on!"* very bad tanker. You seem to not know most game mechanics, no offence. How do you plan to counter this noobness?

: I play games long enough to understand that you can't just read about the mechanics, you need to actually play. This is why instead of having an easy Legend account and seeing only the end-game, I've decided to go through all ranks, slowly, in a real-life situation of 30-40 minutes after work, in my own free time and not grinding mindlessly since I'm being paid. It will take months to understand everything, and it will make me feel certain turrets are better or worse, but that's the only way to know for real. Doesn't stop me from having another, hacked account though

Fun fact:. I myself thought that mines killed whoever went on them, I didn't know that they only took a large amount of your health, an amount large enough to kill those M0s (good riddance!)  :P.
Ok no multing and going off-topic, on to the next question. Why did you leave your previous job, whatever that was?

: Which job though? Grocery salesman one? Engineer on an oil refinery station? Working as a support on Counter-Strike servers? Or printing out and cutting board games?

We all have very limited time on this dustball, and on most of the jobs, if I can't learn anything new and grow, it's time to move on :).

Seems like this is the highest point in your career so far, who knows what greater heights will be achieved in the future?

Tanki X lives next door to Tanki Online. What do you know so far about Tanki X? What are your opinions on it?

: While doing research and interviewing developers for the Dev Stream, I talked to our Art Leader, he was around the time of Tanki 2.0 and shared with me the whole story of how it was decided to move onto a completely new project, which later became Tanki X. I see our video wizard Nikolay playing TX often, as he helps both projects, and it looks neat, but I'm used to and like the feel of TO.

P.S. Darya is a cool person, thanks for the t-shirt! :)

Who is Darya?

: Darya Steel is the Russian CM of Tanki X and a wonderful, professional colleague.

Now that we or talking about who-is-who, who is "Momo"? You mentioned him several times in the livestreams :P .

: Momo is the right hand of mine for many things that the head has no time for. I trust the guy.

As CM, what do you spend most of your time doing?

: Reading, most of all.

It takes a lot of time to answer PMs, write and translate announcements and work with admins on future events, but most of the time I spend reading what the players are saying in the game chat, social media, on the Forum and even on Steam. It's the only way to get raw, unfiltered opinions.

Sometimes, too raw

I understand that most of your knowledge is sealed in a NDA can. But just to give us an idea of what's coming, rate the potential excitement of 2018, out of 10. Also rate 2017, to give us a relative idea (Hail Einstein!).

: I'd say 2018 is to be the biggest shake up to Tanki, both in content and the way to play the game.

If I was to compare it against 2017, I would give this year a solid 6 and the next a hopeful 9.

Clearly your entry to the Tankiverse has a purpose. How has it been to work with Hazel? He is called Hazelnut around here.

: We met a couple of times around the office. Heard "it's Hazel time" once.

What is your relationship with sunlight?

: I'm an owl, like to work and play at night, my best ideas come around 3AM :)

Players often say that Tanki tries to soothe bad updates with epic celebrations and weekend giveaways. What is your opinion on this?

: Sales are necessary both for players and developers, regardless of whether the updates are good or not. Working with communities of several projects, I saw studios create amazing updates, games that need absolutely no pay to finish 100% of the story and PvP, and how these studios got shattered and their games sold out. You need to think how to earn money while making games.

If you don't, nobody will be left to make the game.

We have almost reached the end of this interview, so last question. What has been the worst experience you have had since becoming CM? You are human, so you must have had one.

: Broken trust. I know this is the internet, people lie, people pretend, ask for unbans and accuse each other of hacking and God knows what crimes, but I was very upset with a couple of people in PMs, who I gave a lot of attention, a lot of my own, personal time, and those people lied to me, abused my trust. I try to be forgiving and give everyone a second chance, but you should know, that if you don't respect someone, that person will not go an extra mile for you. You will become just a job task.

That said, it's been pretty good so far, only a few death threats, positive change :D

Death threats! No exaggeration?

: Just a couple, it comes with the job, and I know most of the time it's frustration and anger, not evil.

Alright, I guess with that we must close this interview. Surely it has been on of those better experiences for you so far :D!

PS: I didn't grill you like I grilled @Destrod in the interview with the Reporters, because I felt pity for you :P.

: Pity? :o

I'm a tough cookie! :D

Thanks for the interview, often when you answer good questions like yours, not run-of-the-mill standard ones, it gives you a chance to reflect and think, how it impacted your life.

Thanks to you, both last couple of months and my old life are now more clear :)

Always a pleasure :D.

Well, that's about it. Great and busy men like don't like to be pestered by us mults, so I finished the interview fast so as to not disturb him more. Magenta, I beg you not to make another interview. Your humor is literally killing me! I am dying here laughing!

Nice interview ;)

I've already done one with the forum mods, it's waiting to get published (it's behind some other stuff in the to-do list). And I will do countless more .

I'm a 30 year old straight male

I love how Sergei had to make it explicitly clear that he was straight after all the "are you gay?" questions.

Same question was asked to Cedric in one of the livestreams and he was like "whaa?" "Are you serious?"
