    You said "[..] top players [..] probably playing less and less to minimise the blow of a constantly decreasing rating [..]" - preserve is pretty synonymous to that. I notice you haven't addressed the argument I made - not surprised.. For each player experience points are shown, rank level is included through that. Obviously rank/EP plays a big role for the lower ranks (as shown by Sergeant808 in a nice post.) and it's impossible to have a top rating according to the new formula as a low rank.. Sounds like you still haven't realised this topic is not about bragging with high ratings or denigrating players who don't have a great rating..

    Don't really follow your reasoning why somebody with a good rating would play less to preserve it, if crystals from missions or rank ups are not counted anymore. This change affects everybody in the game, meaning that everybody's Cry/EP ratio and hence rating coefficient will drop (this could already be seen looking at stats of players in the opening post throughout the last week), so the relative position in the ranking for a player will remain similar. On the other hand, a big game changer is if bonus crystals from Premium accounts are counted. Given players with similar abilities, somebody without Premium will never be able to touch a Premium player when it comes to Cry/EP ratio..

    If crystals earned through Premium count as part of the crystals earned in total, that's a real pity. Even in case of buying top equipment, players still have to be able to play well with it to obtain an good rating. Crystals bonuses through Premium on the other hand are just a free boost to the Cry/EP ratio and hence the rating of players spending money. It would have been nice if only the crystals earned in battle counted, i.e. neither crystals earned through Premium nor through rank ups or missions. In that case, the Cry/EP ratio and resulting rating would be a good measure for the efficiency / success of a player. The way it seems to be now, it's a huge advantage for players investing real money. Only a matter of time for players who are not buyers to go down in the ratings..

    Like your work..! I guess most readers here won't know what R2 is - had to check myself, since my high school days ended a long time ago. So to understand what factors determine one's rating, you assume rating to be a function of for instance K/D (or Cry/EP, etc.) and then try a linear approximation of this function..? R2 close to 1 means the approximation is good (e.g. according to your stats, for low ranks the rating is almost linearly increasing with EP, R2 = 0.95), close to 0 it means the correlation is poor..

    Must be your Cry/EP ratio, which is extremely good (your other stats seem average). How did you achieve that ratio?

    Well you got me curious in the end, so here it is. Additional column in the table shows the approximate amount of crystals earned per supply used (counting repair kits equally as the other supplies, which is also debatable). No special correlation to the ranking visible..

    Added. Impressive drug usage, by far top of the list replacing @Oufa :P Added. For older players that is not so easy to do, since the amount of drugs used as shown in the profiles is only counted since introduction of these profiles, while earned crystals is the total value since start of career. But anyway you can guess the result by looking at supply usage per hour + Cry/Ep ratio: in general you won't find a positive correlation, i.e. more drugs doesn't mean higher Cry/EP ratio. Heavy supply users often play in battles full of heavy druggers, so that balances out (but they'll earn crystals faster than without).. - "Rating Value" in the opening post is a number coming out of the "secret" formula, which takes into account your K/D, crystals earned, EP and other unknown factors. - "Rating position" is your position in a ranking list, ordering all players according to their "Rating value" So the hypothetical best player will a Rating Value higher than anybody else, and a resulting Rating position of 1.. Added. Still not quite high enough to get back in the top 30..) Rank up bonuses count, as demonstrated by @Cortana yesterday (see this post).

    Yes I was also 100% sure about this. However I've checked this morning, and indeed the crystals I earned from a mission were not counted in "earnedCrystals". So either this was an intentional change, or it is still linked to the problems with the profile page (crystals earned in weekly ratings not shown correctly) Hazel-Rah, could you help clarifying this?

    Yeah, weekly ratings are completely broken ever since introducing the new rating. All values here below from the weekly rating in my profile are wrong. But I think amount of total EP or Crystals earned that can be retrieved from the profile pages is correct, though..

    Main post updated (current stats for all players). The following table shows the changes in rating position, rating value and EP gained between now and last update. - There is only one single player who managed to increase the rating value (congrats @Cortana :P), all the others had a decrease or no change. EDIT: @Cortana ranked up, so the crystal reward is responsible for the increase. - The rating position changes accordingly (obviously for lower rating values the change is bigger, as there are more players with a similar rating value) Added to main post:

    At higher ranks you'll find it a bit harder to execute that strategy, also because you'll meet more and more players with lots of drugs. But still a long way to go until then :) However, I think you're missing out on something by only using a heavy hull - you'll die more often, but driving around in a light tank can be loads of fun.. ..and there's nothing wrong with that..! I thought so based on your profile page, because otherwise a supply usage rate of 63/h wouldn't be sustainable at such a low rank (at high ranks it could be..).

    That was a neutral question from @Spit_Fyre with no hidden agenda, no need to get excited. Nobody in this topic is attaching a stigma to buyers, or suggesting they should not buy. Seems a bit like you're trying to start a polemic discussion out of nowhere. Please not in this topic.. Above you say "The players in this game play in the style they want", but then you go on to put down those not playing in a style to your liking (dull/boring/no fun). Therein lies a certain arrogance.. Just because you dislike it doesn't mean that a rating system is meaningless. Just respect that some players like to look at numbers/stats and talk about it. You're free to ignore the rating and any discussion about it. Note how nobody in this topic has mocked others about a low rating or bragged about a high rating, so can't really see your argument from earlier on about this causing too much hostility.. Because virtually all players become much better with more experience, especially at the beginning of their career. A rating formula that prevents players with very little experience to get a top rating (who'd probably be overwhelmed if given a light m4 hull from one moment to the next) would be better. Of course, it's a question of the right balance, increase in skill from say 3 to 4 million EP is probably not that great..

Most prominent new entry is @ihmisraunio at position 4 - low rank but great K/D + serious supplies usage.. :P. We'll see if the upcoming rating formula update will change this.. Yeah that was the point, to get a picture of what rating people have and what they think of it. Sure everything is retrievable from the profile pages, but doing just that is a bit dull. Personally I've never spent real money on my account. I think the current top 4 are buyers, for the others in the list I don't know.. Also added:

    No, I'm not :P It's just that by looking at ranking list compiled so far, EP seems to play little to no role. For instance: 13 @The.L-E-G-E-N-D 13760 8228 8092689 1.39 1.47 14 13913 8220 2656320 1.39 1.51 Same rating despite one having 3x EP of the other and very similar K/D and Cry/EP ratios. So if EP is considered, I guess there must be other properties in the player profile used in the formula, that make these two so similar.. Looking forward to it..

    Well, it seems that with your new secret formula, it's also "[..] easy to boost the numbers using cheap tactics.". It's clear that buyers will always be able to boost the rating using top equipment etc, but it shouldn't be possible that a low ranked player using only Titan + Smoky + drugs gets to the very top of the ranking (not exactly rocket science to master that combo). I suggest to give much more weight to the Cry/EP ratio. While this may disadvantage low ranked players (battle funds much lower at low rank), I'd still consider it fair - why should a newbie be able to get to a much higher rating than a seasoned Pro..? For the same reason, I'm also not convinced the amount of experience points should be left out completely for calculating the rating, as it seems to be the case..
