Agreed! This topic is "Myths and rumours answered" not to engage in long personal vendettas. Or is it? However this is exactly what is being done by both some players and some admins. Doesn 't matter who is right or wrong: continue your "battles" in PM please.

Noob - an insult or not?

Internet created much worser things than "noob-sayers"... Thanks for calling me someone with an inferiority complex or even a plain a-hole! You are just a perfect example of what happens when people don 't use the word noob, but go to much stronger and insulting terms instead. It didn 't hurt me though, no worries. The receiver decides if he 's affected by it or not, remember? ;) Still, thanks for proofing my point!

Noob - an insult or not?

Yeah, and isn 't it also true that the word you mention is often used in literally every sentence when certain groups of Afro-Americans are amongst each other? In that case the word is gets also used in a way that it becomes not offensive anymore, it looses that meaning or even becomes friendly. Same with the word noob. First it 's already not loaded at all with an awful history, which the word you mentioned certainly dooes have. So it 's already a lot less provocative. Can 't compare the two words really. The word noob lost it 's meaning mostly too. As I see it, it is used in games and certainly in Tanki Online to adress a Tanker(s) who stands out from the crowd. It can be that the Tanker who is called a noob plays really poorly on the other hand if a player plays really well he/she will also be called a noob. A total drugger can be called a noob: also a non-drugger who makes the team weak can also be called a noob. A low-rank player who plays in a high-rank battle might hear "get out you noob", if that same low-rank player played well he might hear: "good job noob". (I don 't like the "get out noob" I truly hate that, but just give it as an example) It can be used as a motivational tool also, if for example I 'm playing a Polygon CP and I 'm in a team with Tankers who don 't want or just don 't understand that you need to get in the pit and capture to win, than I will definitely write in teamchat "bunch of nubs, don 't you understand we have to capture, get in the pit" or something like that to try to change the outcome of the battle. If they hate me for that: good, I hope they get angry it often makes Tankers fight better.... well, hmmm or run into mines time and time again when attacking you.... :D To conclude: the term noob is even when it 's used in the strongest negative way, not very offensive at all and even a good replacement for much stronger terms that would most likely be used otherwise. It 's often used for a player(s) who stands out in a negative but also positive way so it has become a quite versatile word. Most importantly: it 's the receiver who decides how much he/she is affected by the word! Most high-rank Tankers for example won 't blink an eye when being called a noob: when they play well even without heavy drugging being called noob is actually a compliment...at least that 's how I view it. From the biggest noob of all: just get over it you noobs! :P edit: forgot to mention "noob" is also used out of frustration a lot, something like what will people say when they hit their thumb with a hammer (often a blasphemous word) Don 't say noob much in relation to TO 's Hammer, but I won 't deny I called quite a few Mammoth/Titans with Vulcan and Zeus "noobs"...really quite a few...

Maybe you did, or maybe you didn 't. It never harms to repeat info, even if it is info that is already very obvious for more advanced players.

[Issue 42] Why a 40% Off Sale is Better than 50% Off

Nevertheless @Contradiction a well written opinion. + To the Pony, with all respect: This article seems to ignore that many players of Tanki Online are young. They often react in a very positive or a very negative way. Often accompanied with some kind of insults and accusations. My view on those kind of reactions is that they are mostly outcries and it 's up to the reader how seriously you take them...I don 't take them so seriously. Many of those "just wanna play Tankers" (which is not meant an insult!) simply don 't give or haven 't given any thought at all about TO 's economy: nor should they IMO. They are just here to play the game and are not interested how the game works and even less how it is kept running. And the economy of TO is also TO 's business. It 's up to them to keep it running. So how you can be so condemning and scornful to those kind of players in this article often kids just beats me. As stated before many expected a 50% discount, I did too though I 'm not with those who claim that one "official" said that it would be 50%. No, I was expecting it also because it seemed to be a tradition. That 's partly my fault because I know that TO is entitled to change discounts, but as I see it is also partly TO 's mistake: TO should IMO have communicated in advance to the Tanker 's Day, that we better shouldn 't expect a 50% this time. That would have given some turmoil too, but if Semyon or another official would have been there on their post to give the explanation for the less than 50% discount at forehand and during the official announcement, it would have received a lot less negative response in total on the Forum. You would have even seen more Tankers defending it, which happened after the damage was already done. Now we got an official explanation of Semyon when the whole Tanker 's Day topic was already far past the boiling point: a bit too late if you ask me... If I 'm not mistaken from this topic: http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=289674&page=22&do=findComment&comment=5075647 TO is planning to improve communication with us players and I for one applaud that! It should receive praise if a writer like you tries to make to make the reader understand how and why certain things like TO 's ecomy work, but not with this very negative approach. Than IMO you are just shutting down the positive communication that a more objective article could have started.

    Let's Discuss Smoky!

You are right, but fully micro-upgrading equipment is very expensive. A Smoky M1 with "only" full regular damage is already a very worthy opponent. It 's better to take one (or two) very significant parameter like damage and MU that fully and get a discount of around 30% on the next modification. Micro-upgrade other parameters just a little bit: first steps are ofc also the best.

    Myths and rumours answered

There 's no longer a need to discuss that a huge mistake was made with first promising an easy one on one account transfer. Later in time this promise was clearly, or not longer possible or in my view not longer kept. Let 's take that as a "fact". I don 't like to use so called "facts" though: using them tend to end all discussion... ;) quote: "The present flash version is teetering on edge of collapse, tanki has tweeked every byte of code they can to keep it running, and still the bugs, glitches, and lag remain." As much as I agree with your view on TO Flash, it 's a fact...that it is the only tool available that enables us to play Tanki on this moment. At the moment it 's playable again, but I 'm a 100% certain TO Unity will crush TO Flash in playabilty and gaming experience in every aspect when it will be released. Still TO Flash is at the moment the only way for TO/Alternativa to earn income. Income which is needed for all the company 's costs and the development of TO Unity. So I think both sides, TO and players have an interest to keep TO Flash "running". The future however is TO Unity, and personally I don 't believe in two coexisting versions of Tanki. If graphics were the only factor than both could and would continue. But graphics is mostly a matter of taste and adaptation: which can change in time as well. Nope, it 's all about the game engine and how smooth it will be running: and Unity is da bomb. So will we have an account transfer? My two cents: no. Will we have a compensation? I guess so. Time will tell.

He 's still enjoying it. And whatever he did or intended, his videos containing both right and wrong information, stirred up emotions that I for one believe (and felt) where building up in the TO community. Maybe this topic is also somewhat initiated by his video 's and if so: than he surely didn 't destroy the fun for everyone else, maybe it might even improve.

Really impressed with the communication that 's going on now. :) Speaking for myself I 'm not going to start arguing again about things that did or didn 't happen last Sunday. It leads to nowhere and thanks to this topic it 's also not worth it. I rather see this topic as a fresh start and I want to thank all TO representatives who have participated on this topic. It lead to a positive atmosphere, at least in my view. It would be great if there would indeed be more personal communication as you mention. If people in normal life don 't or hardly talk with each other there is also a greater risk of distrust, miscommunication and gossip. This ofc doesn 't mean that TO has to inform the community about every step they make... but if the management would give some more attention and information to the players why certain things happen, it would prevent these "riots" and create a lot more understanding. Especially with updates, important news IMO it would be good that a TO representative who has some real "power" and freedom to speak would be on the Forum in an early stage after the release. (or maybe even before the release) This representative could answer "heated" questions and in doing so stop the build up of misinformation at an early stage, which often happens when players who don 't get feedback start to make their own (and often wrong) conclusions. Hope this intention to step up communication comes true! :)

I mostly agree, still I think what happened this Sunday was more than just removing the videos and posts that were out of line or against the rules. There were posts removed, also some from myself that weren 't wrong in anyway. And if that happened and I believe so: that is censorship in my view. Afaik I don 't even know if I can use this word censorship, because in your view this could be already considered "damaging our dignity and honour."? If you want us to give the possibility to give critisism (and not only so called constructive critisism because that is quickly very arbitrary) than less us do so as long if we don 't cross the obvious lines.

This is THE question and I can guarantee you 99.9% this one will not be answered. Btw. could you reply on my post plz. http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=289674&page=4&do=findComment&comment=5071284 I know "we are not allowed to discuss actions of etc." but that 's always a fine line and certainly in this topic. If the post gets removed: I would consider that to be also a clear answer.

And many of you, certainly the high-rankers already have superb garages: so I don 't see why a volunteer would spend so much of his own time for essentially nothing if he was in it for the crystals.
