Stop using Page Up and Page Down

You 're welcome. It is directed to beginners. And it 's certainly not that good IMO. I would have liked to make a comprehensive controls guide, but I rather play and enjoy the game: so I came up with this half-baked version. Also wonder if such a guide would actually be of any use, because most beginners simply don 't start with reading the forum... If you are already an advanced player like yourself and used to a certain set-up, there is no need to change anything. Especially the choice of playing with Arrows or WASD (the latter too often neglected though imo) should be done in the early stages of your Tanki Carreer. If your mind is fully adapted to WASD or Arrows, it is very difficult to change to the other one. Only if even an already advanced player, still uses Page Up and Page Down he can fairly easily make the transition to Q and E for the cameraview (PU and PD are not as imprinted in the mind like WASD or Arrows are) and will improve his gameplay almost instantly! The best game control-keys are the ones that 'll put your hands in a natural and relaxed position. Even more important in my view is that every control-key is in reach of your fingers without the need to move your hand. When you have to "travel across your keyboard" you loose precious micro-seconds, that can decide over a victory or a loss. WASD-QE and Arrows-QE are both very good set-ups! Don 't understand at all why in the Tanki Wiki under Tank Controls, the Page Up and Page Down keys are still proposed as the first option in the picture: http://en.tankiwiki.com/Tank_controls Would be nice to see it changed, so I will put that as a proposal in "Ideas and Suggestions".

    limited drugs or separated server

Not impressed. Topic made by a hardcore drugger exclusively for hardcore druggers so most of them agree, what a surprise. I already said I hope that Tanki finds a solution for Tankers who like drugwars amongst their OWN ranks. If Tanki would do this, the majority of the high-rankers in that topic still wouldn 't agree, because I don 't read one post referring to these level playing field drugsbattles. I have got nothing against those kind of drugsbattles, might even liked participating in them if I was higher ranked. It is still a level playing field if everybody drugs after all. No, they just want to keep drugging the old way to easily crush the others that drug less or don 't even drug. That 's all. And spoil the fun for other players and the gameplay itself in the meantime: they couldn 't care less. And all that talk from leaving: most of them are empty threats. Tanki should collect their names and ask them a few weeks after the Smart Cooldown update: "hé, still there? Nice!" :D

    limited drugs or separated server

First the high-rankers who love drug-wars amongst their own ranks have good reasons to be unsatisfied, I sincerely hope TO finds a way through Pro battles or another solution to give them the possibility to still have them. In my knowledge I haven 't seen this group "raging", they are just giving their opinion. No, the group that is actually raging are the Tankers that feel that playing battles won 't be as easy as they were used too. Some of them, lets call them the less-skilled even worry if they can cope with this new situation. Sitting ducks who suddenly have a chance to fight back: O.O If that small group Hy6-druggers decides to leave, I really hope they ask themselves if they have played this game to have a lot of fun together with their fellow Tanki brothers, or mainly to have their own exclusive fun at the expense of others. The Smart Cooldown is good news for all the players that were at the point to leave Tanki Online because they were fed up by the overpowered 2345 druggers and all the lost battles they caused...ooh about drugs, I almost forgot the 1: that is what they use at the moment that you barely alive think "I got you!...." And maybe we will even see the return of Tankers who have already left because of the mindless drugging that was imo already going on for much too long.
  4. The main problem with drugs isn 't low-rankers complain about drugging high-rankers. If they choose to fight high-rankers they know they better be good to avoid a beating. Besides I feel pretty insulted by this suggestion that the Tankers who complain about the drugs, are all low-rankers that got beaten by Generalissimo 's. Plenty of Generalissimo 's and high-rankers are not that good at all: if you simply stick to the game and keep playing even the biggest noob will one day be a Gens. Ofcourse a higher percentage is actually very skilled, but I felt the need to say this, because you seem to think that if you are a Generalissimo you are instantly a Pro who is always right: ^^^^^Quote: "Youre listening to the wrong players. High rankers are the ones that know the game, they have studied it for a way longer time than those little guys, they have been through good and bad, thats why they are the ones who should dictate the rules." Put your feet back on the ground, please. No, the problem with drugs are simply between the own ranks. This is the majority of the battles, due to the rank-limits. If you have two teams of close to equal players with equal equipment, Than drugs decides who will win. Well, drugs still might in the future, but it won 't be so easy to win with drugs as nowadays. Drugs won 't dissapear at all, but you will need a lot more skill to take full benefit of them. Instead of mindless pushing 234, you will have to be Smart when you use supplies. Too bad for you and your fellow bullies: the Smart Supplies are Cool and the update will go Down! :)
  5. Most Tankers are happy with this coming update. You will not hear much reaction from satisfied players. That is just human nature. No, you hear the druggers who are pretty unhappy the most, because they feel their "Glory Days" will soon come to an end. Been in Tanki for a while and it 's always been the same. With every coming update you almost only hear the people who don 't like it. I was one of those complainers when they speeded up the Hornet and Wasp with a Rebalance...well, now I have to admit it was one of the best updates ever. Love those light hulls! In the end Tanki Online makes a lot more good than bad decisions, and I believe our Devs are good people with a good "gamers" heart. Remember TO is been around for a while: proof enough in the vastly changing gaming world, where only the big names like COD, GTA etc. seem to be everlasting. And so in time most complainers will adapt, and I wouldn 't be surprised if they actually start to like this update over some time. More balanced gameplay will benefit everyone, because battles will get a lot more exciting. And those who say no, drug wars are exciting: I sincerely hope they make an option for you to still have them. Just a warning, prepare to be disappointed if you only fight against other dedicated druggers... no more shooting gallery my friends... :P Don 't think at all that druggers with skills (most high-rankers) and those with some skills will actually leave. No IMO solely the "Emperors without Clothes", those Tankers who think they are "great" but just lack even the basic skills might go. Can 't say I will miss them. Be Smart: let 's Cool Down ;)

Let's Discuss XP, BP, and XP/BP Battles!

Maybe it wasn 't your intention, but your story sounds somewhat negative. Railgunners "running" from regular battles, because they can 't compete with other weapons. This might be true in your ranks, that goes beyond my knowledge, but not so against the ranks I am in. Sure, you better avoid small Maps in regular battles (like Sandbox :D: but do visit it to practice XP/BP), because of the Railgun 's long recharging and because it 's fairly easy for a good player to shoot you off aim at a short distance. Close- and midrange weapons are ofcourse harder to deal with in small Maps. Also in many DM 's the Railgun is often not the best choice. In TDM 's and CTF 's however the Railgun is a strong force to be reckoned with! With the back-up of a decent team the Railgun on a light hull is more than capable of giving close and decisive support to an attack. Not to mention you can strike at the whole battlefield in a matter of seconds when skilled enough. Just ask flagcapers about their feelings regarding this gun... :P So I myself don 't feel any need to isolate myself from regular battles with the Railgun. It is just a matter of choosing the right gamemode and Map (the bigger, the better as a general rule) XP in my eyes is just a tremendous bonus! It does not only sharpen your skills with the Railgun and a light hull, but the lessons learned in XP can easily be transferred to other weapons and hulls. As you yourself already mentioned "perhaps THE most complex gun that requires the most skill for best results". Well I totally agree on that! If you can master the Hornet and/or Wasp and especially the Railgun, you are more than ready to quickly get good results with any other piece of equipment available at the present Tanki Online. XP doesn 't mean isolation at all: a small group may choose that voluntary because XP battles are that good. But most, including myself will keep on switching between XP and regular battles. And in the process be themselves a force to be reckoned with: no matter which weapon or hull they choose... -_-

Let's Discuss XP, BP, and XP/BP Battles!

Funny guys those "some players"! ;) Actually the level of gameplay/skill required to be able to compete in an XP/BP battle is that high, that a player IMO already has to be above average with the combo Hornet-Railgun or Wasp-Railgun in regular battles to join XP 's. If a Tanker doesn 't have the necessary experience he/she sure won 't enjoy being in an XP and will most probably leave very soon: or being asked to do so. In the contrary an average XP player will most likely be one of the top players in a regular battle. Quite simply because XP demands an (almost) complete range of skills: and these all combined at once to cope with the kind of fast and unforgiving gameplay you 'll find in XP. To name a few: - anticipating, making a quick calculated guess where your opponent will be at the moment your delayed Railshot actually fires. Also used ofcourse in an opposite way by your opponent who can make a feint move to trigger you to shoot (hate it, when they do that :P ). - swift changes of cameraviews while driving for a good situational awareness: where are your opponents, are they charging up, is that tank already been shot once? etc. - driving for- and backwards should be done without any delay and regardless the position of your Railgun, there is no time to turn your Tank around (one of the benefits of the Hornet 's centralized turretposition) - good aiming skills: no matter the position of your tank, whilst driving around you must be able to almost constantly pinpoint your gun at your opponent. Also a quick combined turn with tank and gun in the same direction will still lead to a hit. ofcourse you know how to rock/tip your gun and you can shoot it in difficult angles in all directions. - tactics, probably the hardest part! This is what divides a good XP player (just hope I 'm one) from the real Pro 's. Those guys almost always make the right decisions for the team in a split second, which can only be achieved by playing many, many XP 's. Well, I 'm sure I forgotten to mention some, but it 's already quite a list. Look in regular battles and you will find that most players have some of these skills, but you won 't find many that "own" them all. Which is no big deal in a regular CTF or TDM, it does becomes slightly more appparent in a DM and finally what 's lacking becomes apparent in an XP. That 's one of the reasons XP is so good to hone your skills. My advice would be to first try some free XP 's with the daily gift Pro Battle pass. You will soon know what could and should be better in your gameplay. Next use Hornet/Wasp-Rail in regular battles (certainly in Sandbox) and if you feel you are up to it, go for another round. Just be aware: XP/BP can be addictive... Finally the few Maps where XP 's are being played doesn 't mean that you become "handicapped" on other ones. If a very addicted XP player would only play on those few Maps for a year, he would still do well on other Maps. Especially in XP you need to know all the ins and outs of a Map. This knowledge can easily be transferred to other Maps, simply because all Maps contain repeating elements.

    limited drugs or separated server

This already brilliant Smart Cooldown has not been introduced yet, so possibly there is some room for changes. If not, so be it: the vast majority should finally have fun in this game and experience a lot less frustration caused by hardcore druggers. Hogree already suggested Pro Battles with an unlimited drugs option, I like this but maybe it 's even possible to have a certain small percentage "old" drugs battles amongst the Smart Cooldown battles. A player who creates a battle gets the option to make it an old drugs battle if the percentage that is allowed has not been exceeded yet. If the percentage of allowed old drugs battles has been exceeded the player has to make a Smart Cooldown one or just wait till enough SC battles have been created to allow for another old drugs battle. Would be a solution for hardcore druggers. Sure not as "good" as it used to be, because they surely will be facing other dedicated druggers: instead of their 's nowadays shooting gallery with plenty of defenceless non-druggers. This could also be the solution for Parkour. It would be bad if Tankers who like this also have to use dropped drugs. Would be pretty impossible to perform in one minute, if you first have to carefully manoeuvre yourself in the right position to make the jump or whatever. However the Tanki Devs would have to perform almost the impossible I guess with Flash with all these combined possiblities and I assume programming and making changes is a lot easier on Unity. Still if possible this idea above might be a sort of solution, that makes even more people :)
  9. Everyone his own opinion ofcourse, but I can guarantee you a vast majority do think that a change is needed! I would not mind at all to have a poll about this... Also I believe when battles become more balanced even some nowadays hardcore druggers will enjoy them more. Most battles are now won by the team that drugs the most. That 's what I call a penalty: in this case for the loosing team. The solution often suggested: drug even more! Where in that situation is the golden rule that the best team should win? The Smart Cooldown has not been introduced yet and possibly there is some room for improvements. Hogree already suggested Pro Battles with an unlimited drugs option, I like this but maybe it 's even possible to have a certain small percentage "old" drugs battles amongst the Smart Cooldown battles. [Issue 26] What to mount on: Hunter

When talking about a M3 Hunter I agree. (ok except: Isida - Hunter Wasp! :) ) The main problem with the Hunter is the way it upgrades. Great at M1, mediocre IMO at M2 for a much too long time...to finally become a true Gem at M3.
  12. ^ too funny :D (may I suggest Chopin - Funeral March?)
  13. This update is about the negative effect hardcore druggers have on all the ranks. No drugs is taken away, it 's just that you have to be smarter to fully take benefit of the supplies you have in your garage and also all Tankers will have to be a lot more vigilant and eager for the dropped ones. Especially the combination of a garage-supply and dropped ones will now take care of the most interesting battles to play: because of the dynamics involved in catching those dropped ones! It will mean fast gameplay where every second counts and smallest mistakes can change the whole outcome of the battle. :P So nothing changes really: only the battlefield becomes more equalized in a positive way. Sure, a small minority will keep on disliking this smart cooldown of the drugs: well, it will certainly be a lot lesser percentage of the vast majority who are repeatedly sick and tired after loosing another battle because they were not the heaviest drugging team. Or even worse the so called often high-ranked overdosed overtakers, who actually rob the gamefund in my view. Well, you can still try to overtake, but at least the odds of successfully fighting back will increase! The 24/7 drugging noobs (including high-ranked ones) will become a lot less OverPowered after this update and therefore have less chance of dictating the outcome of a battle. B) The return of playing for fun, for everyone

That 's a strong claim. Really hope you are not fooling us, or being fooled... :( Two brilliant updates in such a short timespan? First the drugs cooldown and secondly an XP format: too good to be true? We 'll know soon enough.
  18. Brilliant update! This is really going to make the game more balanced. Nothing IMO beats a fierce, intense battle that goes back and forth and in which the best player/team in the end takes the deserved victory. The "mindless" 234 druggers who could easily overtake almost any battle, would be wise to start soon with upgrading their (all too often neglected) skills.

Let's Discuss XP, BP, and XP/BP Battles!

You have got thousands of battles where you can use every kind of equipment you want. There are in comparison only a few battles like XP 's. Here a relatively small group of players mutually agreed to only use in this example a Hornet, Rail and an allowed paint. You are like that small child that can choose really everything in the candy shop that he wants and even more than one piece: but insists on having the same sort of candy that his little brother just by accident happened to get the last one off... Grow up.
