Who uses WASD instead of the Arrow Keys?

That is a good point about the closely spaced and small keys of a laptop-keyboard. I suppose it will not work well in that situation. On a normal standard keyboard it works flawlessly, at least in my experience.

Who uses WASD instead of the Arrow Keys?

Just curious, because most Tankers use the Arrow keys I suppose? Started with the Arrow keys also, because first I was unaware of the alternative WASD in Tanki. I already played and play some PC-games with WASD and I believe it 's more the standard in PC games. WASD combined with the mouse in the right hand is very common in PC-games. So I decided very early to switch to WASD: which was quite hard for a while and probably very funny and rewarding for my opponents! Glad I did it though, because I am really glad with the closely grouped keycombinations I use now. I do not have to "travel" anymore along the keyboard: For the turret I use < > with my right hand. When using the cameraview QE with my left hand I can simultaneously rotate the turret and get a good overview of the battlefield. With my lefthand I use WASD and for the cameraview QE: Ringfinger A+Q, Middlefinger W+S and Indexfinger D+E With my ringfinger I also push Tab (a lot) and with my indexfinger I "drop the Flag". My left thumb is for shooting, but you could do it with the right thumb too. At Goldbox time I just push simultaneously the 2,3 and 4 with the same three fingers. Also those "drug keys" are at close reach. Keyboard layout: the most used keys are outlined, the less used have a tiny circle on them. Red is left hand, Blue is right hand. What do you use and why does it work well for you?

    Let's Discuss Viking!

Thanks! If you want to practice "rocking": just find an empty map and first get some training there! Simply place your tank in front of a high wall. First you shoot straight and you make a nice black Thunderblast on the wall. Next you drive just a little forward and almost directly you stop ánd shoot simultaneously. If you were too far away from the wall you will have hit the ground, if you were a bit closer you have made a second black spot underneath the first one on the wall. Now lets make one on top of these two. It is simply the opposite movement of the "groundshot". Lets call it the "airshot". First you drive back just a tiny bit and almost directly you stop and shoot simultaneously again. Three spots on the wall, job done! How to use these movements. Lets say you are fighting in the map Polygon. And some tanks are in the middle in the pit. Drive a little bit closer to the pit and make the groundshot, in this case do not shoot the ground but better shoot directly on the tank or the wall just behind him. When getting more skilled you can make quite sharp downward angles this way with your Thunder. Really a very rewarding technique! I use it a lot to also get the tanks that are hiding in the "basement" of the Polygon pit. This "groundshot" is a "must" in my opinion, the next one more optional. Even more spectacular is the "airshot"! It is in my experience quite a bit harder than the groundshot. You miss more often, but if performed well and if you have enough distance you can hit the tanks on the highest level of the map, straight from the ground! If you are further away you can ofcourse simply shoot straight and hit the enemy too, but as a result of the increased distance not with the same devastating damage! Certainly in this case you should aim for the tank! Most tanks that high do certainly feel save from a Thunder nearby on the ground: proof them wrong! B) Edit: it surprised me that these shots were even possible with such an extremely stable tank as the Viking! I suppose, just an estimated guess, that it only works thanks to the superb acceleration the Viking has. If so, than the combination of a short fast acceleration with a sudden stop does even make such a stable tank to get out of balance: a shot at the right time closes the deal!

Sorry, I haven 't got a clue. That why I said "imagine". Maybe one of the Forum-moderators could ask a Developer? They must know the ins and outs. Drugging Thunder in Polygon DM:

Nice research again Adam! B) You really go deep to investigate stuff to our benefit and by doing so also become a sort of Mythbuster.....wait, you aren 't.......???....... :D (if so, nice beard!) Only thing I can imagine that the distance must be shorter than it looks and so it is still inside the max. range of 120 meters?

    Tanki Online: Mobile Version

As I already knew -_- : http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=192507&page=10&do=findComment&comment=3444168 Ánd the first glimpse of how the controls might work! At least two touchcontrols: 1. on the left in the video a "dot" that can be moved in every direction thus allowing your tank to move in every angle back- and forwards that you desire. Might be even easier than on a keyboard! 2. the "dot" on the right for turretcontrol and perhaps cameraview??? on a less serious note: 3. no shooting button: Tanki Online for hippies! 4. and the best part: no buttons for druggers! ;) I am quite sure they will create the possibility to reverse these controls, so you can still steer your tank with your right hand as most Tankers do! (the real smart ones use WASD QE and < >, but that is common knowledge ofcourse.... :D )

^^ DirtFighter, when the Thunder M2 is in Revilo 's and my garage, we should do it! Lets get back on it in due time. :) ...and than let us spoil, the till that moment perfectly fine day of fellow-tankers: muwhahaha! :P

    Let's Discuss Thunder!

No, I called my account poor, not in a serious way though. My LordotS account with the medium M2 kit is simply decadent because of the expensive paints that will not loose their value ever. (....well, what about possibly new weapons..... :( ) SmokTT with the M2 hull-kit is "fortunately" not so decadent anymore, because this account is loosing his surplus on value more and more when you are ranking and I do like the idea of becoming a sort of "poor" proud non-buyer on this one! Unfortunately regarding buying: ones an offender, you will in infinity always stay the offender, I know... :D I just had a look on the XP needed an it is exactly: 16227 Seems like I am going to beat you to it. Not of any importance ofcourse!!! ;) Only thing that really matters is that we both are Captain when the discount comes! B)

    Let's Discuss Viking!

Talking about "stuff" again: you know your stuff! ;) Ofcourse Tundra has his value. MU it and truly become the nightmare of fellow Railers. B) If you were not playing with Thunder also I would have recommended to you as well! And Tundra with the green/ bright white pattern sure looks awesome (camo-wise? hmmm), but looks should always be our last worry: otherwise we would all be playing our whole carreer with "In Love"! But you are playing Thunder also, and by the looks of it will get dangerously hooked on it: the M1 is addictive! As a "Thundereer" with Corrossion (especially if MU 'd) you will have a huge advantage over other Thunders who use non-Thunder paints like Tundra! On the other hand if you meet guys with heavy Thunder paints like Cedar than it is you who got to outsmart them ofcourse. :) Even more info about Tundra here: http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=177128&page=86&do=findComment&comment=3444100 BTW: my Wasp friend (don 't even mention Hornet to him :D) I mentioned before who is a Major already is a dedicated non buyer, so he is saving his crystals for the next upgrades and also for further micro-upgrading his Corrossions. He is even planning to use fully MU 'd Corrossions till he can get his dream paint Picasso! But first Wasp M2: he is having a tough final stretch towards it, with his now in comparison weak Wasp M1.)

    Let's Discuss Smoky!

From my own experience I would say that when Thunder M1 appears, Smoky M1 gets a hard time. I tried to continue with the Smoky M1 but in my case the transition to Thunder M1 was much better. The Smoky M2 is on my wish-list though, but it simply upgrades to M2 much too late IMO. Smoky M0, but especially Smoky M1 is indeed the best (training)gun, before you get the Thunder M1. (nice rhyme...) If you are going to play with it on this Second Lieutenant account you have IMO there is a big chance you regret it. It is not expensive but still. Why not play with the Smoky on a practice account? You rank very soon to Smoky M1, and you 're right: it is fun! (more nice rhyme... :D ) Will further improve your Thunder-play as well, at least it did work that way by me.

    Let's Discuss Viking!

In Holland we say: two flies in one hit! English say: to kill two birds with one stone! (which also proves clearly that the Dutch are much friendlier towards birds :D ) A friend of mine plays with Wasp M1 's: one account with Rail, and the other with Freeze. On both accounts: Corrossion! Protects him from getting one-shotted too much: indeed SWEET! :)

    Let's Discuss Thunder!

Thanks! I do believe it rocks: Thunder does also btw! ;) And I will finally play with the weapon that suits my very modest, ahumm, nickname... :)

    Let's Discuss Viking!

Well, if you weren 't already WO2 I would have adviced you the Smoky M1! No kidding. Now I would just stick with your Thunder M0. You already came so far with a relatively "bad" Thunder: the M0, you can make that final stretch with it as well. Better save your crystals for a good "Thunder-paint", I would advice you the WO3 Corrosion or WO5 Cedar paint. Choose the one you prefer, both have their merits. I myself went for Cedar btw and still use it MU 'd on my alt. Try to avoid the battles with Thunder M1 's, if you didn 't do that already! ;) The Thunder M1 is really an overpowered OP weapon in its ranks. Maybe even the best Thunder upgrade! The difference between Thunder M1 and M2 is noticable but that 's about it. The difference between Thunder M0 and M1? It is like night and day! B) I suppose you know most in and outs of the Splash-damage? If not read the Thunder guides, especially this one: http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=187547&do=findComment&comment=3332046 and this might be handy too (my own piece :-): http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=177128&page=61&do=findComment&comment=3344806 Use it well and improve it even more and the reward in crystals and fun will be tremendous! Splash them to smithereens, Vettefan22! :)

    Let's Discuss Freeze!

Same thing happened to me. Only the Isida stays excluded: would use it though if I would have problems with getting to sleep! :D Yes, first play Freeze. Later from the M2 upgrade on, the Firebird makes a nice return from the ashes and both are fine! (Firebirds tend to do that, it is in their nature... :) ) Get a Wasp or Hornet and let the fun begin. I was a fool to not take the short-range weapons serious when I started to play TO! Also although I may personally do not like the Isida, I am not saying it is bad weapon. On the contruary, very strong at M2!

What to buy? Which is better?

I like the idea somewhat, but on the other hand it is also nice to have these strange irregular "gaps" between hulls, that forces you to make quite impacting and tough decisions. What I as a Viking M2 (Hornet M2) "fanboy" ofcourse don 't like is, that you want to shrink the difference between the Hunter M2 and the Viking M2 to just 30 HP. Surely we Vikings sleep much better if it stays the 47 HP it is nowadays! ;)

    Let's Discuss Thunder!

Well, I would not be surprised if it is! Played it with Hornet quite some time when I started TO, but used it too much in campingmode. I now know there is much more to this gun, but it 's the reason I got into the Thunder: not unhappy with the transition I have to say... :D Thunder could not be used as a camping champion fortunately! At the moment I enjoy Freeze as well, but I really start to dislike Rico (M2). Too much effort for too little reward IMO, better to stop playing with it for now. Might be the right time to unpack the Railgun a bit more and start to slowly realize it 's full potential! B)

    Let's Discuss Product Kits

It sure is a very good kit, great combo and only the Sandstone paint in it isn 't worth it. The paints Emerald and especially Prodigi are both better IMO than the paints in many other kits! The old M3 kit was superb, good combo and had three great paints, especially the Clay and the Picasso! The amount of 600k is impressive too... ;) The new Medium Tank M3 kit with Picasso and Heavy Tank M3 kit with Prodigi and Taiga are just as good too. (that is to say: the Heavy Tank M3 kit is good, with drugs even OP: not that I like it particularly... :D ) The new Light Tank M3 is nice, but I have my doubts on the Needle paint.

    Let's Discuss Paints!

Nothing! It is all just about the honour. If you want protection you better become a Helper: Helper paint that gives 18% against all turrets. Look at the bottom of the paint section in the Tanki-Wiki: http://en.tankiwiki.com/Paints

I simply totally have to agree, especially that "stuff".... :D

    Let's Discuss Ricochet!

My advice, because I have Thunder M2 and Rico M2 myself: do not get the Ricochet M2 if you also have the Thunder M2. Only if you are a real pro with the Rico and already deeply love it than get it. To put it shortly: the Rico M2 requires hard work and doesn 't give you the same reward as the Thunder M2 IMO. Rico combines very well with Viking. And those three M2 guns you are "left with" are more than enough to keep you quite occupied I suppose... :D
