[Issue 28] What to mount on: Dictator

It's easier to fire at enemies who are on elevations higher than you.

    Let's Discuss Shaft!

Hey, it's not good for us guerrilla snipers. I don't want to give away my position with a really noticeable laser sight, no matter how cool it is. I suggested a toggle function for the laser sight on the Vlog thread, and I think it's something that will cater to any type of Shaft user. You can go over there to read it; it's on page 6.

    V-LOG 24 — New turret?

People said that about Shaft when it was first released, but it didn't ruin the game. You can't say these new turrets will ruin the game until you've gotten the chance to try them. __________________________________ Anyway, my comments: I am really looking forwards to the new shotgun turret. It seems like the pellets have vertical spread, however; will this affect the number of pellets that hit your enemies? Here are the names that I can think of right now. "Enforcer"- I like this name. Many others have suggested this for the same reason, presumably. "Shellshot"- A play on words. Shotshells are standard shotgun rounds, so switch around the words within and you get something that is also reminiscent of "shell shock". I think it's pretty cool. "Vanguard"- Vanguards are the people at the tip of the spear, the first to meet enemy combatants. This shotgun seems like it would be useful for that type of gameplay. "Scattershot"- Perhaps a rather common name for a shotgun, but still a cool one. "Halberd"- Halberds are old medieval polearm-type melee weapons. Shotguns and melee weapons are both good for close range, so you get the point. I'll add to this list later. The new Shaft laser sight looks cool, but I don't like it. As a Shafter, I pride myself on my camouflage skills; I can conceal myself and wreak havoc on the enemy team, causing massive paranoia. That's psychological warfare enough. A laser sight would be extremely intimidating towards enemies, but it wouldn't be good for "stealth assassins" like me, since I'd have to go through a lot of trouble to conceal my laser sight (not charging up unless they're looking away from me). I suggest that the laser sight have a toggle function; by default, it's off, and only teammates can see your laser sight, so you can still cover them. If you switch it on, everyone can see your laser sight, but to balance it out, your scope sway should be reduced somewhat. With this solution, people who do non-camouflaged fighting can take advantage of a cool and useful laser sight, and people who are guerrilla snipers like me can remain stealthy at the cost of normal sway. It shouldn't be hard to find a key to bind the toggle command to.

    Let's Discuss Hornet!

M1 Hornet looks infinitely better than M2.

    Improving the game!

If you don't have time to stay for a long game, play short battles.

    Let's Discuss Hornet!

OK, got M2 Hornet. I am really liking it so far; the drift is manageable, and it has good health. Looks aren't too bad as long as I don't drive backwards. :P

    Let's Discuss Hornet!

I'll use it until I get M2 Wasp. From then on, I'll be a hardcore Waspy. In the Tanki tutorial, you get to try out M2 Hornet. I'm going to play that a few times to get the feel for it, i.e. the speed, drifting, acceleration, etc.

    Let's Discuss Hornet!

I think I'm getting M2 Hornet on the hull sale. I'm going to get some flak for this, but I think the speed + health is going to be useful if I want to cap flags, which would help out a lot for ranking quickly. Plus, having a M2/M2 combo is nice.

    Improving the game!

Excellent changes! There will be no more crystal box mults once and for all. The changes also addressed my concerns with the experiment, like fund distribution. I think this is a great update, and I would like to thank the developers for listening to the community. Feel free to disagree with me if you want.

    Let's Discuss Dictator!

I get a large quantity of crystals each month. 12,500 crystals for a SMP is trivial. I probably can rank without it, but I want to make it guaranteed; I don't want the possibility of not ranking in time. It won't affect what I can get at the New Years sale, for sure, so I figure why not. Crystals are a great bonus to being a newspaper reporter/staff, but I didn't apply for the crystals. I don't think anyone should apply for a staff position just for the crystals or other benefits; you should join staff because you want to help the community, first and foremost.

    Let's Discuss Thunder!

Just FYI, tankimedic got the same opportunity that you did.

    Let's Discuss Dictator!

Once the timer runs out, the kit is gone, so no, you can't buy it once the time is out. _____________________________________ Anyway, there's about 35940 XP left before I rank. It shouldn't be too hard to rank by the end of December, but just in case, I'm getting a SMP at the end of this month. Crystals won't be a problem, and from what I can tell, it helps out quite a bit.

Join the experiment with crystal drops

Well, it does encourage players to perform better. For the record, I think crystal boxes should still be in the game, but only 10 crystal boxes. 20 and up are distractions to the team.
  14. Thekillerpenguin

    What is up with this?

They're restarting the servers, and possibly doing some maintenance.
  15. Thekillerpenguin

yea, go ahead and take the crystal boxes

You still get to keep any XP gained if you lose a battle. It's something. Also, crystal boxes will be back in a few days, I think. It won't be long before things are back to normal, but that also means more crystal box mults, so I don't look forward to it much.

    2 New Turrets

I'll take a guess: Now that MOAR DAKKA is confirmed, this new gatling gun thingy would have to shoot lots of bullets. And fast. Since they're ballistic rounds instead of plasma rounds, they'll probably travel instantly, like Smoky. Twins will probably be the only turret with infinite ammo, so I think this new turret will have limited ammunition. In addition, this is a gatling gun; it needs to spin up before it reaches its maximum rate of fire. So, here's my prediction about this weapon: High rate of fire, most likely faster than Twins. Limited supply of ammunition like Ricochet. Very low damage per shot, since you'd need to balance it out. Bullets will travel instantly, fitting the trend with the other ballistic weapons in the game. The rate of fire will increase the longer you hold down the spacebar, making it weak at first and devastatingly powerful once it spins up. It's the only unique trait I think is feasible for a weapon like this. Let's see how accurate this guess is.

    [Forum Game] Guess The Combination

Nah. PUM's best combo is Mammoth-Isida? XD
  18. Thekillerpenguin

    Vote for Cologne or Edinburgh

I like both. Edinburg is great for people using close range weapons, and you often see massive Firebird/Freeze kill-fests in the lower section, which are fun to partake in. Cologne is more balanced, since you can use ranged weapons in the streets and close range weapons within the castle.
  19. Thekillerpenguin

    Let's Discuss Firebird!

Well, there is a TON in my experience. Every time I go to a Major-Colonel battle, nearly everyone is popping DP or DA, sometimes combined with N20.

    Let's discuss Wasp!

    Why the sad face? .-.

    Let's Discuss Thunder!

If you just want Thunder protection, you can get Cedar, which is a lot cheaper than Rustle but has the same Thunder protection. It doesn't have the cool looks or Freeze/Isida protection that make Rustle special, however.
  22. Thekillerpenguin

    Let's Discuss Firebird!

M2 Fire is exceedingly powerful, but I'm not sure if I still want to get it. At the M2 ranks, almost everybody drugs, which means many people will heal themselves back to full health right after you roast them with Firebird. The slow recharge doesn't help either. This is a problem I've been seeing on the test server as well. The afterburn is great, but it becomes less powerful if everybody's drugging and running around. At least with M2 Isida you get some health back and with M2 Freeze you can slow them down.
  23. Thekillerpenguin

    Let's discuss Wasp!

Still shorter than a grown human being k Speaking of Wasp-Freeze-Winter, I should get that combo someday. I loved Wasp-Freeze on the test server, and it was really effective even against M3s. Winter is a good paint for both protection and camouflage.
  24. Thekillerpenguin

    Newspaper Requests!

It wouldn't be very fair for people like me and kevred, since we both don't have access to M3s. Still, interesting idea. I'm not sure how many people would like to read an article on the EULA, but I'll consider it. Keep an eye out if the newspaper decides to look for more reporters in the future. When that happens, try out. Keep trying and you will succeed if you're good enough.
