Corrosion doesn't have much Thunder protection, around 15% the last time I checked. Cedar has 32% protection, which makes M0 Thunder a joke, M1 Thunder not a big threat, and M2 Thunder manageable.
-
That's why I use Cedar a lot. Good thing the M1 Medium Kit I purchased in August had it at half price. It was a great deal.
-
This isn't the Railgun thread. __________ Anyway, M2 Thunders aren't a big threat if they're not drugged up and I'm using Cedar. If they are drugged up (or I'm not using Cedar), I tend to run.

13K XP left until I rank to Second Lieutenant. After doing the math, I'll have to earn roughly 60K XP to get to 1st Lieutenant. I have about 38 weekdays to play Tanki on until January 1st. I need to earn an average of 1602 XP per day to do that. Shouldn't be a huge issue, since I have quite a few days on my Thanksgiving and Mid-Year break to play really hard. In an emergency, a SMP would be helpful. Very true.

I still plan on getting M2 Smoky. A few MUs will bring it to the level of M3 Thunder, and it'll last a long time. A few more MUs, and you can keep your ground with MUed M3 Thunders. There are also fewer protection paints from Smoky around. Thunder loses a lot more effectiveness against protected enemies compared to Smoky, since it doesn't have that epic knockback.

You can "pwn" people with any turret. What makes Railgun so special? I like my M1 Railgun too, but I see no point in saying stuff after kills. You're vulnerable when typing and it serves no practical purpose.
-
I don't think there are any paints with around 40% Ricochet protection, so if you're fine with ~30%, then Spark and Desert (with a few MUs) are good.
-
Yeah. My school has a Thanksgiving break, I believe.
-
Health isn't the only parameter. M2 Hunter still has better speed and handling than M2 Viking.
-
You haven't seen M3 Dictator then. It's the best looking M3 hull in my opinion.
-
M1 Isida is more versatile. You can heal teammates or attack. Anyway, I am really liking my M2 Isida. The healing XP is very nice. Paired with Hunter, it's great for small to medium sized maps. With Wasp, it's great for flag capping, although I find that my M1 Wasp is a bit fragile. Any way to deal with that besides drugging?

I'm starting to wonder a little bit if it's feasible for me to finish 3rd Lieutenant and go through 2nd Lieutenant before New Years/Christmas, when there's certainly going to be a 50% sale. I suppose I could just play really hard during my Thanksgiving break. If time gets tight, a Score Multiplier Pass would probably help. I'll try to make sure M2 Dictator, M2 Ricochet, and Sandstone don't slip past my fingers by the end of the year. Those three combined are extremely powerful; I have had the misfortune of fighting M2 Dictator/Ricos before, and it was really tough. I'm going to put a few health MUs on it to level the playing fields with M2 Viking; the first few health MUs give a ridiculous amount of health (about 7 points on the first step!)

Normally, I would want to get the 4000th post, but I'll concede it to Trom, since, well, he likes Thunder so much. 4000th post on Dictator thread is mine.

That post you quoted was from 2013, when Ricochet was a lot weaker than it is now. A lot of stuff written on the earlier pages is outdated, just FYI.

M1 Hunter is far better than M1 Viking. It has more health (!) and is significantly faster.

Stories in the newspaper don't have to be about Tanki. -

Thanks for the feedback! Part 2 will come out in the next issue. -
I've been having this problem too. Try the server EN2.

A lot of stuff I want is going to unlock at 1st Lieutenant. This includes M2 Ricochet, Sandstone, and M2 Dictator. I want M2 Dictator because it's a solid M2 medium hull that unlocks early and has good MUs. M2 Ricochet is on my want list because it's really powerful and a good match for M2 Dictator. Sandstone is a want because it looks epic and is a great multipurpose paint. These three will cost 138,900 crystals in total if I buy them at a 50% sale; that shouldn't be a problem since I can spend Second Lieutenant just collecting crystals, and reporter pay is great. M2 Railgun also unlocks at 1st Lieutenant, but I'm not really interested in it.
-
The second half of my post was on-topic, so I didn't break any rules. Anyway, to answer your question, you can get Spark (unlocked at Captain, maybe a medium rank paint) or Clay. Spark has about 35% protection, while Clay has 50% protection. There are plenty of other paints, like Taiga and Needle, which have about 20% Ricochet protection as well. I'm not a moderator candidate. I'm just a reporter.
-
You're going off topic too. Anyway, M1/M0 Ricochets are no longer a problem when I use Desert paint. Mine's at 30% Ricochet protection. M2 still presents an issue, thanks to its high damage and massive knockback.
-
XP/BP battles are harder to find than XP battles. I check on RU1 once in a while, and there aren't many XP/BP battles around. Plenty of normal XP battles though.
-
I'm getting M3 Hornet when I rank to Major General, but probably only for XP battles. M2 Wasp will be my primary light hull until General, when M3 Wasp unlocks.

[Issue 28] [Comparison] Railgun or Shaft?
Thekillerpenguin replied to Pathfinder in Newspaper Archive
Well, I guess my Railgun skills aren't at that level yet. I'm good enough to compete with the vast majority of Railgun players out there though. The barrel of your turret is indeed part of your hitbox. If it's poking through a wall, it doesn't count, but if it's in your line of sight, you can snipe somebody by shooting it. Very difficult, but awesome when you pull it off. -
It almost looks like they're using it to summon a devil or something. Note the pentagram.
