After testing this update several times, I've resolved that it is a good one. However I do have some feedback: The developers were smart in making the update not affect the acceleration speed of the turret, only the maximum speed, so I didn't have to get used to all my weapons over again with the Speed-boost on :D. It greatly helps when you're using heavy hulls and in close range battles. I believe that this will increase the popularity of Speed-boost somewhat, however it still won't be as popular as Double damage or Double armor. Since I believe that Double armor, Health, and Double damage will always be the most popular of the supplies, I would suggest that you perhaps lower the price slightly on Speed-boost, making it, for example, 40 or 30 crystals instead of the usual 50 or 75.

There are good and bad effects from this update. I'll explain them here, in hope that the developers will hear and listen to the feedback of an experienced player. :) I'll start with the good affects that this update has had: The 30% score multiplier pass was way to expensive for the minimal increase that it offered. My thanks to the developers that realized this and changed it  . It is now possible for someone to as much as double their EXP earning. So it'll be easier for players to reach a certain rank in time for sales. The variety and pricing of the score multiplier passes is excellent. You have the 30% for people who just want to earn a little more than the average, and it's a easy to come-by 2,500 crystals. You have the 50% one for players who would like to reach higher ranks faster in time for future sales, or just for fun. And you have the 100% one, for people who really need to put the gas pedal down, and rank up in time for a near sale. However, I said there are some bad effects, and here they are: With the 100% pass running, it is possible for a player to reach the rank of Generalissimo in as little as three months. This is not good, as a player who reaches the top rank in only three months will not have the skill to compete with players who took nearly a year or more to achieve that rank. There will be "Noob" Generalissimos, who won't be competitive in XP/BP battles or regular battles, and will most-likely frustrate other, more experienced players with their lack of accumulated skill. A player who took only 3 months to reach the top ranks, will not have played as many battles, and amassed the amount of crystals that a player who took much longer to reach the rank would have. This means that, unless they buy crystals, it will be difficult for them to afford the pricey weapons and paints nearly required at their ranks. This will make them less competitive. To remedy both of the above problems, I suggest this solution: Shorten the length of time that the larger passes last. For example, the 30% one will last the usual 30 days, but the 50% will last for a shorter amount of time, such as 20 days, and the 100% pass will last for even shorter, such as 1-2 weeks. This will make it possible for players to use it to rank in time for a sale, but less likely for people to keep it running constantly, and ranking faster than their skill can grow. Review [Issue 32] StarSeries Season III Update: Reviews & Interviews
general_abrams replied to hogree in Newspaper Archive
Great article. I'm looking forward to seeing how SL plays out this year, but all-the-while chanting: "Go Arcade!" -
Excellent job as always, guys. I can't wait for those SMP's to hit the game, along with the higher-armored heavy hulls. Not sure how well the turret acceleration is going to go over, but we'll see won't we? :)

Come on, the Developer:

According to the Wiki, for every crystal that's added to the battle fund there is a 1 in 7,000 chance that a 1,000 crystal gold box will drop. So it makes sense that for a 3,000 crystal gold box to drop, the likelihood of one falling is cut by 1/3. Thus the chances are now 1 in 21,000 per crystal. At lower ranks, less action means a smaller battle fund, which equals less chances of a gold box dropping. At higher ranks, more action means bigger battle funds, and a much bigger chance of gold falling. However you still have a chance of at least seeing a few. Keep your eyes open, and remember to believe that you will get it!

Excellent job guys. When Vulcan was first introduced in the Test servers, I was worried that it would quickly become the dominant turret in the game, due to its unfair impact force and rapid damage. Thanks to the changes that you've made to it however, this has not happened. I didn't think I'd ever say it, but Vulcan actually fits in Tanki Online. It works well against other turrets, giving longer range weapons a chance to survive by skillfully using cover until the Vulcan's clip is exhausted, and the new updates to the closer range weapons, Ricochet and Firebird in particular, has allowed them to make a decent stand against the gun as well. Plus, its looks and graphics concur with the games current image. Thank you for listening to our feedback! The Vulcan is a success as far as I'm concerned.

Yes that's true, but I believe in this case the entire topic, or at least my post, is focusing on turret versus turret, without paints being involved.
-
Like one paint is going to affect the difference between these two turrets :p
-
I have to agree with Kirby. Thunder is the all around better of the two. With its consistent heavy damage, splash capabilities, longer range, and affordable price (for newbies), Thunder > Smokey. Impact force? With skill you can knock off a Railgun's shot with Thunder just as easily as with Smokey. Critical shot? I'd rather have a fixed strong firing rate than an unpredictable high powered blast, which with my luck would never happen at the right time anyway.
-
The gun is excellent for the owner, and terrible for the opponents. It is entirely too far over-powered. It's high impact force and unceasing firing rate completely tromp on every other gun. This turret will need to be turned down quiet a bit before it hits the battle field, unless they want Tanki Online to become a completely 100% Vulcan game.

Tanki Online itself is rarely at fault for lag. Only once in a while, when a server such as RU1 is overloaded, which rarely happens anymore thanks to several new updates, does the game itself lag. The real cause of "Lag" is your own internet speed and ping. Check your internet service. I believe that a minimum service of 5MB's per second is recommended for optimum game play. Plus they recommend that you use an Ethernet (direct plug) connection instead of wireless (WiFi). One major issue with today's society is that we always tend to view things as "Someone else's fault," or, "Someone else's problem to deal with." If we sat back and put some more thought into situations, we would be surprised how many times the fault... is actually our own.

Let’s discuss updated rank limits for higher ranks
general_abrams replied to semyonkirov in News Archive
This is an excellent update. Now I can join battles that contain more of my ranks. Instead of 3rd Lieutenant "team weights" and over-powered higher ranked players all playing in the same battle, it's now mostly all the same. Excellent job Tanki Online. -
Try switching to a less busy server, such as EN3 or RU5. If that doesn't solve it, then the issue is with your internet connection. Check your modem/router's settings to see if it has a bandwidth limit, check all the cables connected to it, and try to power off and/or disable any other devices using the network. If that doesn't help, power-cycle (reset) your modem and/or router. If nothing mentioned above works, your internet service may be to blame. Check your internet speed using this website: http://speedtest.net and note the Mb's per second of your internet. Compare that speed with the speed that you're paying your current Internet Service Provider for. If you're not getting the internet speeds that you're paying for, contact your ISP to see if they can help you. If you are getting the speeds you're paying for, you may need to upgrade your internet service with your ISP. :)

What are the new EN1 - EN10 server links for Standalone Flash?
general_abrams replied to general_abrams in Archive
After a recent update, there are now 39 RU servers. According to standard protocol, the EN servers should follow immediately after, meaning that they SHOULD be servers 40 - 50, but if you try entering a link for any server between 40 and 50, it leads to the error. This is obviously a problem that needs to be solved by devs, I'm just wondering if anyone had made a workaround to get the EN1, apparently though, no one has... -

Try it yourself sir. Try entering the server 37 link in Standalone flash, if you have it, and you'll see. It'll lead you to RU37. -

Okay that's great, but this doesn't solve my issue. If you enter any of the links for server 1 - 39, they lead to RU servers, which they should. But the links that should now lead to EN servers (40-50) do not work, they lead to a "Server is under maintenance" error. -

According to the scroll list in the game: EN1 should be server 40 right? (http://tankionline.comAlternativaLoader.swf?config=c40.tankionline.com/config.xmlresources=s.tankionline.com&lang=en&locale=en) WRONG, that leads to this: -

Once again, NONE of the links posted in the Wiki or Forum work for the EN servers. It's great that all you nubs want to help, but I believe this solution may be above your heads. Staff member please? -

If you don't know what Flash Standalone is and/or don't know the answer to my question, you shouldn't be answering it. -

No, I'm not talking about that. Don't you understand English? I'm asking for the EN server links for Flash Standalone! None of the EN links currently posted on ANY of Tanki Online's wikis/forums work.
