Granted that this is a screwed up updated, but remember that the devs have been thinking about it ever since they screwed up the score cap and were too arrogant to fix it easily and properly. It took them months to come up with this fix (and introduce a bigger problem). You have to know that it is not possible for the dev pride to revert a bad update. Your only option is to have it fixed (and yet a bigger problem introduced). Now since we are talking about a big problem, you are talking next summer. There will be no TO by then. You will have Tanki X and bigger problems to worry about, so take it easy. The bright side is that it seems there will be no CP mode in TX, think about this update as weaning you off CP so you don't get shocked when you move to TX. Also, it prepares you to be ready for the bigger bugs and issues in TX. Who said watching a train wreck is slow motion is not fun?

Actually, you earn them or lose them at the maximum rate of 15 per minute regardless of the number of the CPs. That is why the score cap now works the same for all maps in CP.

Although the CP update in general is messed up, I believe that they managed to have a bug in it. The (publicized) intention of the update is to enable the losing side to catch up, i.e. it should help reduce the gap. However, if the score was 30 : 20, and the losing side captured the point for 20 periods, the result becomes 10 : 40*, but it should actually be 25 : 40. The scores tie at 25 : 25 then the right side captures for 15. Those fifteen should not reduce the score of the left side because that increases the gap (and makes it harder for the losing team to catch up), not reduces it. so you just add the 15 to the right side, resulting in 25 : 40. * I am not sure about this. This behavior may stop after a certain gap, but even that is wrong. It definitely is not what it should be.

You are naive. If you lose, you are more likely to lose like 30 : 0, so you are more screwed. We sometimes give the devs more credit that they deserve, but I do not think the genius who came up with this update figured out that a normal battle where one team controls a point half of the time of the other team, which usually would end up like 30 : 60 will now end up 0 : 30, so the losing team will be totally screwed. The only cases this is avoided is where there is a takeover near the end (by heavy drugging).

By the way, we have hit the score cap (100) in Polygon CP. The current theoretical maximum score in Polygon CP 15 minutes is 225. The screwed up scoring system helps you never to hit it though.

What they did not tell us is that you need to capture a point for 4 seconds times the number of total CPs in the map to get a point. That means that a score cap of 100 would now work for all maps. :P A team needs to capture all the points in a map for 4 seconds * the number of CPs to get points equal to the number of CPs in the score. That means that a point can be captures and lost several times before a team gets 1 point for it. You can only guarantee victory if you are ahead by more than 30 * remaining minutes, so you need to be ahead by 60 to guarantee victory if there is less than two minutes remaining. The job of the screwed up scoring system is not to give you that lead.

The message is clear: Whoever drugs heavily in the last minute or two wins. For PRO battles, who cares what happens?

The CP update is an interesting update. It is kind of like updating FIFA rules to make the team who scores the last goal wins even if the other team leads by 10 goals. After this huge success in (ruining) CP, are you going to take it along to CFT? If a team captures a flag, it will subtract 1 from the other team, so: 1 : 0 0 : 1 1 : 0 0 : 1 1 : 0 2 : 0 1 : 1 2 : 0 1 : 1 2 : 0 3 : 0 4 : 0 3 : 1 2 : 2 1 : 3 0 : 4 Final result : 0 : 4 Classic result : 8 : 8 I am sure the CTF fans will be exited. Then you can take it to DM. Whoever makes a kill decreases the kill number of everyone else and so on. It would be a lot of fun. I have previously expressed happiness that the devs had never gotten to updating CP, thinking that they would ruin it completely. I guess I was right after all.

Actually, they should order the hulls, turrets, and paints like they do in the ratings page, based on how likely you would use them.

^ The best paint is what gives you the most protection, and, to know that, you need to know who kills you most. It could be fire, freeze, rail, rico, whatever.

What do you mean by upgrade? Micro-upgrade?

Buy Inferno only if you don't plan on buying Zeus or Lumberjack. Otherwise, find another paint. Definitely, don't MU until you have every item you ever want to have. The steps are now too small to make a difference if you don't spends hundreds of thousands of crystals, which you do not have.

Save for M2. You are almost there.

^ If you want to avoid the death pit, you can use protection against Vulcan and Twins. If you want to go into it, you need protection against Fire, and if you want to use Thunder, you have to have protection against yourself. See what you want to do and see what paints can help you.

The only thing good for Taiga is Isida protection. You can get that with Lumberjack. When you spend 90K more on Taiga, it gets you nowhere either. Africa is good for large maps, which I rarely play. You also need to spend about a million crystals on it to make it effective. You are better off spending that kind of crystals elsewhere.

I agree about Graffiti because Shaft is pretty rare, which should call for a rebalance, but thankfully the devs are too busy doing other useless junk. Raccoon is pretty good though because all 4 turrets are popular. Lumberjack is good but too expensive because Hammer protection is practically useless. You are no longer a sergeant.

The discount is actually 41.5%. :) I do not think there will ever be any 50% sale because we have the group discount on hulls and turrets. I have the 10% group discount on them now. A normal 50% sale will bring that down to 55% off. Some people may even get 60% off. I can't see TO allowing that. If there is a kit discount, that would be dirt cheap. It can't happen. Imagine something at 85% off. No way, Jose! What irritates me is that they did not give me a test drive to help me decide. If it were Railgun or even Freeze, I would have gotten it without a second thought. I would have even gotten a Hammer.

I think my advice is the best you can do under the current conditions. Currently 5 steps are about equivalent to 1 or 2 steps from the past. You have to note that there is going to be no "real" MU sales, so you will never actually need to buy speedups. The other point is that, you should never wait for a sale. You have to eat the bullet that now MUs cost double what they used to cost, and you will need two years to fully upgrade one item or at most two. The bright side though, is that there is no real incentive to fully upgrade anything, so you can take 10 years to do it. :)

You should only upgrade M3 equipment and paints. You should only do that when you have all the useful protective paints that you will ever want. This is more important than useless upgrades. Once you have all the protective paints you will ever want, get all the M3 turrets and hulls you will ever want. After all that, if you do not want to spend your crystals on drugs, upgrade the paints and equipment that you use most. Do the upgrades according to your use. For example, if you use Rico 50% of the time, Isia 30% of the time, Fire 20% of the time, upgrade: Rico 5 steps, Isida 3 steps, Fire 2 steps, and so on.

The micro-upgrade update, in line with silly or irritating recent updates, made it useless to upgrade M0, M1, and M2, and made it confusing and frustrating to upgrade M3 equipment. This update included 4 things: Made each upgrade step upgrade all parameters, Because of that and to make it less costly to do one step of upgrade, made the upgrade steps about twice as many, Because of that and to spite players, made the 50 or whatever upgrade steps about the same amount, Made the speedup cost equal to half the step cost to encourage you to buy speedups since nobody buys them. Previously, you used to have step 1 the cheapest and the biggest. It is still the cheapest but it is equal to every other step. That made it useless to upgrade M0-M2 equipment. You used to be able to upgrade it halfway (by amount) for about 10% of the total cost, which was very cost effective. Now to upgrade halfway, it costs you about 25% of the complete upgrade. That is half the cost of the next mod. As you continue, it gets worse. There is no longer partial discount when you buy the next mod because of upgrade. Now, it's all or nothing. If you upgrade it fully, you get the next mod for free. Otherwise, you get no discount (except that for having other turrets of the same mod). There is much less incentive to do a partial upgrade. It is a lot more expensive and lot less useful, because you upgrade parameters you do not care about. Why would sane person pay to reduce the reload time of something from say 0.5 seconds to 0.48 seconds? I used to advise people to do the first few upgrades even for an M0 item. I now advise against it. I am even confused when it comes to upgrading M3 equipment. There is no longer enough incentive for you to do that. You wouldn't feel any difference until you pay a few hundred thousand crystals. This is a stupid update. TO can only benefit from the naivety of the players. It goes inline with TO strategy of making it tedious, boring, and irritating for free players to continue. I never expressly shared the opinion that Tanki is dying, but it is obviously getting worse and worse. The problem with that is that you can keep getting worse even after you hit zero. When you hit negative infinity, you can still go to negative two infinity and so on. Tanki needs a smart manager at the helm, or it is going to be miserable, even with the most naive and clueless players in the world.

I find Firebird to be very efficient. What's going for Rico is that less people have effective protection paints for it. I have both Zeus and Clay, but most people don't, and I have both Fire and Rico M3. I sometimes have to switch to Isida because of Vulcan Mammoths wearing Zeus. Anyway, I recommend Fire.
