Review [Issue 77] 10 Maps in Real Life
Flexoo replied to Flexoo in [Issue 77] 10 Maps in Real Life Newspaper Archive
1st place winner of the Review category! The 'Try Not To Fall Asleep' Introduction Seriously though, don't doze off. I get that nobody cares about the introduction but I've kept this one short and sweet. Without the huge choice of maps Tanki offers, this game would become really boring. Really quickly. Now before you say it already has, can you imagine how much more bored you'd be if you could only play on Sandbox for the rest of your life? Yep. That's the level of boredom I'm talking about. Absolutely dull, mind-numbing, boredom. Maps offer diversity in your gameplay, requiring you to adapt your style and equipment depending on where you are. Big or small, open or closed, maps offer that extra element to spice up your battles. Now this isn't one of those conventional reviews on kits, updates or even boredom. Ohhh no. In fact, it's not even a review on the boredom of updates for kits. Although... No, let's stay on topic. I don't know where I'm going with this but basically this review will be me covering the important stuff. The stuff that you just cannot live without knowing. I'm going to be looking at what some of these maps look like in real life. That's right. I'll be checking out the maps and the places they've been ripped off from in order to compile a 'Top 10' list based on creativity and resemblance to the actual real life location. Also there will be an overall swag rating based on how lit each map is. Please note this ranking is my own personal opinion which means it is 100% right and your opinion should match accordingly without question. If it doesn't, go play on Sandbox for the rest of your life. Without further ado, let's get to the actual review... Creativity: Attention to detail will be a big factor here. That includes a variety of aspects such as props, map dimensions, altitudes, etc. Put simply, how nicely crafted the map is. Resemblance: How similiar the map is to the its real life counterpart. Pretty simple stuff. Overall Map Swagness: How effective the map is in providing fun and nail-biting gameplay. 10. Yorkshire The latest map added to the game and it already manages to steal a spot in my top 10. Located in northern England, Yorkshire is the largest county in the country. Perhaps it doesn't take the Number 1 spot for holiday destinations in the world (debatably not even the top 100), but the scenery is quite something. Known for its history and stunning landscape, Yorkshire has a lot of hidden beauty. But before this turns into a commercial where I try to convince you to buy a holiday home in Yorkshire, I'm going to quickly move on to the map. Pictures speak a thousand words. Or so I'm told. I'll be using illustrations as an excuse to avoid writing text walls. You can see the comparison of the map with the actual Yorkshire (the right picture, if for some reason you're confused). Let's talk how similar it is to the real place. The size of the map corresponds to the size of Yorkshire and the traditional Victorian houses are dotted in the centre of the map. So pretty similar. That was easy. All in all, a lot of the features have some thought behind it so it manages to score a modest 7 in 'Creativity' and a hefty 9 in 'Resemblance'. Unfortunately, I get incredibly restless playing in this map so it's a 6 for the overall rating. In my opinion, it's too large of a map (though obviously Yorkshire is a gigantic area in real life too) which makes intense battles rare. Creativity: 7 Resemblance: 9 Overall Map Swagness: 6 9. Desert I'm not sure about you, but when I think of a desert, I picture a lonely cactus in the middle of nowhere surrounded by rolling hills of sand. And those hills of sand seem to stretch on for miles in my head (possibly because they do in fact go on for miles). But anyway, no other place fits this image better than the Sahara desert. The largest hot desert in the world (I have to say 'hot' because I gurantee there would have been a nerd an astute reader who'll point out Antartica is the largest desert in the world). The Sahara is located in North Africa (one country can't tame that beast), and has an area of 9,200,000 square kilometres. You don't need to do maths to know when something has that many zeros, it is big. Unfortunately, the map is not what I imagine deserts to look like. I mean it's pretty close. There's just too many walls and houses. But the vast yellow of 'nothingness' near the ends of the map (as expected of a desert) makes up for it and drags the resemblance up to a 6. The sunset in the map isn't bad either. I understand that you can't have a map with no props (I mean can you imagine?) so I've factored that into the next category. Nothing exceptional about the creativity of the map, but saying that, nothing atrocious about the use of the props either so a 7 for 'Creativity'. The map provides decent gameplay- particularly for DM mode- which earns it another 7 in the overall category. I can see what the map was aiming for but maybe the offspring of Massacre and Desert would look more like a desert. Creativity: 7 Resemblance: 6 Overall Map Swagness: 7 8. Chernobyl Chernobyl. The name alone sends shivers down my spine. It just sounds ominous. And of course there's a good reason for that. A truly tragic incident took place here in the form of a nuclear accident. It occurred in April 1986 and it wasn't just Ukraine that was shook by the event. The whole world was too. The destructive explosion left radioactive dust and debris over a large radius. It's pretty hard to judge this map on resemblance since it's very difficult to tell what Chernobyl looked like before it became inhospitable. You know...since I've never lived there. But even so, the map should cause us to imagine that the entire place is abandoned due to radiation caused by a nuclear catastrophe. Taking that into account, the map sort of does half the job. The central building in Chernobyl is sorta similar...sorta. I get an uneasy feeling when I go through the central block as if I shouldn't be there. Surely, that's what going through Chernobyl feels like? Or perhaps it's because I'm fearful a Magnum is about to drop hell on me from the hole at the top. In any case I can't say the resemblance is there, but fortunately, I do get a mild taste of what the map is trying to simulate. That gets it a 6 there. There aren't many maps quite like this one so a 7 for 'Creativity' especially for how the central building is used. Fun gameplay especially if you're a fan of end-to-end action. Creativity: 7 Resemblance: 6 Overall Map Swagness: 7 7. Fort Knox Sinister. Am I right? Fort Knox is a US Army post situated in Kentucky (like the Kentucky of KFC for those avid fans of chicken). Don't ask me what goes on there. Just normal military stuff. Nothing else. I definitely was not held captive for 5 days because of what I discovered during my research and there is NOT a shotgun in my face making me write this. So now we have that sorted, let's get on to the map. I've got to say the resemblance is certainly there. The usage of he towers and grey looming walls are on point. I would know. That gives it a firm 8 in that category. As always, you can see from the pictures above if you want a look for yourself. The props are what was appropriate for the map given what it is meant to mirror and anything extra would really ruin that image. Despite this I feel like there's not a massive amount of originality (I know, I know I'm pedantic). The battles are fairly fun though. What is expected of a normal battle anyway I guess. Creativity: 7 Resemblance: 8 Overall Map Swagness: 7 6. Parma A notoriously well-known map for XP/BP. Seen very often in eSports matches. And there's a good reason for that. The structure of the map means that a lot of teamwork is needed to capture a flag, defend, the whole lot. One of my personal favourites too. For any aspiring eSports players out there- play in this map! It will help you improve massively! Now on to business. Parma is 'The Italian Capitol of Culture'. Famous for its prosciutto and cheese (I felt like I needed to put that out there), this city is located in Northern Italy. Weird that, isn't it? Everything in this top 10 so far seems to be north of a particular place. The 'South' stinks. I have to say. This map looks NOTHING like the real life place. Honestly, I don't think the creator ever saw a picture of Parma before. Not to say the map is bad. Just not anything like what it's named after. You can see for yourself above. The actual Parma consists of brightly coloured buildings in a very traditional setting. The map Parma doesn't have a single building (towers don't count) but seems to have many broken bits of wall. The only reason it scores a 3 in 'Resemblance' is because they have a slight, VERY slight, Romanesque feel. You can see the cobbled floor in both the map and and the real life place. Kind of. And that's about it. Still, top marks for creativity (like I said one-of-a-kind) and 'Swagness' of course. Creativity: 8 Resemblance: 3 Overall Map Swagness: 8 5. Monte Carlo You're guranteed to go through a rollercoaster of emotions on this map. From the frustration that makes you want to smash your keyboard when you're sniped for the 99th time, to the euphoria when you finally, finally, finally capture that last flag the team needed in order to clinch the victory. A Shaft's heaven which is pretty much the main reason why I only play XP/BP on here. You might be thinking railguns can snipe you too, but railguns are less annoying than Shaft. That's a fact. Especially when you have one too. Monte Carlo is located in Monaco, at the base of the Maritime Alps along the French Riviera (fancy I know). Breathtaking views. In fact let me do the courtesy of not describing to you the beauty and simply let your eyes take in the picture below (right). Monte Carlo seems to have done a 'Parma' where the map looks literally nothing the place, leaving me struggling to make up something and save the similarity rating. Hang on let me try. There is water around Monte Carlo. Therefore, the map consists of only bridges to symbolise the water that would have been there. Look, I tried. Nevertheless, the likeness is shockingly bad and I'm still struggling to understand why it was named Monte Carlo. So I feel I'm being generous with a 4 here. It's fair to say there's no map quite like this one. For the layout of the map and how unique it is, I give it a 8.5 in 'Creativity'. The 'Overall Map Swagness' hits a peak of 8 but no higher for me. Creativity: 8.5 Resemblance: 4 Overall Map Swagness: 8 4. Dusseldorf Many have reached number 4 and are, without a doubt, wondering why the seventh most populous city in Germany- aka Dusseldorf- is doing taking this spot. It deserves #4 okay? Known for its fashion industry and art scene, Dusseldorf is situated in western Germany (shocking that it's not north I know), and occupies the banks of the Rhine River. Okay let's get on to the map. I mean there's no river, but it's pretty close. The brightly coloured buildings along the riverside in the actual Dusseldorf can actually be seen arranged in rows in the map too (though not as bright). On the other hand, the map has such a basic structure of simply buildings, that it doesn't get a higher score than 6 in 'Creativity'. Many like the fact that the map is symmetrical and so I've bumped up the score slightly. The central floor of the map also has a beautiful mosaic. It may not have the best overall rating (I mean the gameplay doesn't exactly have you on the edge of your seat), but the map is a spitting image to the actual Dusseldorf and for all the memorable community events that have taken place on this map, I have to place it 4th. Heart over head on this one. Creativity: 6 Resemblance: 9 Overall Map Swagness: 6 3. Iran Here we go boys and girls. The big three. Hold on to your hats. Iran. Very well designed. Hard to fault. Without a second thought, it makes it into 3rd. The map is unlike any other (anyone counting how many times I've said that?) and the structure truly is creative. This is a country...so I'm not going to tell you where it's found. Use an atlas. Or a globe. An enormous population of 81 million, Iran has one of the oldest civilisations in the world. And so naturally, it's got to have some old architecture too. And boy is the architecture spectacular. The picture on the right shows a famous mosque situated in Iran which I believe is what the mosque in Iran is designed after. As you can see though, the materials used to construct the dwellings in Iran (at least the characteristic dwellings) are remarkable alike the structures in the map. Creativity has to be a 9. Completely original. Completely brilliant. No other map has stairs. Stairs! Genius! Very, very fun battles. The map isn't too big, nor too small and you are almost certainly going to have a good time in any game mode here. Very refreshing gameplay. Creativity: 9 Resemblance: 9 Overall Map Swagness: 9 2. Canyon Canyon and Iran are separated by a whisker. Nevertheless, one map must win 2nd place. And that's Canyon for me. Now canyon is quite a generic term that could be used for a variety of locations (and indeed it is). But much like 'Desert', there is one site that fits this word more than any other. And that, my dear readers, is the Grand Canyon. Carved by the Colorado River in Arizona (US), this national park is as old as 5-6 million years (almost as old as Tanki) and as deep as 6.093 feet. The retreating cliffs make the sheer drop even more impressive which is a factor that is demonstrated well by the map. The ramps are utilised well to really emphasise the sheer drops and the changes in altitude scattered throughout the map. Most notably is of course the centre ramp which drops down into a trail that I can only imagine represents the path of the water. All in all, some very impressive use of structures which makes sure the map is a twin to the real place. That scores it 9s across the board. My favourite battles here are the XP/BP battles (of course) and you can see some Canyon CTF XP/BP matches crop up here and there which demonstrates its popularity. Both sides are more or less balanced with some pros and cons on both sides to cancel out any huge unfair advantage. So top marks for 'Swagness' too. Creativity: 9 Resemblance: 9 Overall Map Swagness: 9 1. Rio I had buckets of fun on this map in the lower ranks. Nothing beat a classic Rio CTF back in the day. While these battles are no longer that common, Rio still remains the 'Top Dog' in my article. Rio De Janeiro hosted the 2016 Olympics as well as several matches in the 2014 World Cup. Throughout this period, this city has been on the rise- both in terms of popularity and economy. However, the two are undoubtedly linked. But enough of this real life stuff. We want to know about the map! From the most sensational views, to all the rank up parties on the beach, this map truly is special. The layout of the map, the buildings and how the different sections are split, gives it the highest mark for 'Creativity'. Playing on this map genuinely causes me to think of the actual Rio. From the sandy beaches, to the iconic skyscraper and even the tropical trees, this map has outdone itself. As a result, I have no option but to score it the maximum for 'Resemblance' too. When assessing what I should score for the 'Overall Map Swagness', I think of one question. How much fun do I have on this map? I think you know my answer to that. Creativity: 10 Resemblance: 10 Overall Map Swagness: OFF THE SCALE An Inspirational Conclusion It was a lot harder than I thought it would be to narrow down the 77 maps all the way to 10. Here are a couple of others which have been animated by their real-life counterparts and deserve a mention: Bobruisk, Edinburgh, Berlin, Kungur, Gubakha, Solikamsk but of course, there are plenty more. The 'Overall Map Swagness' is fairly subjective and most likely just down to a matter of opinion. There could be other factors which influences this rating down to an individual level- like your personal experience in that map. I have a lot of good memories on some of these maps which I'm sure has influenced the rating- one way or another. There. I said it. Can you believe the nerve of me? Admitting that my own review may be biased in the review itself. How dare I. I hope if anything, this article has inspired you to try out some of these maps. While standard battles limit our choice nowadays talk about mismatching not matchmaking, there's absolutely nothing stopping you from creating a PRO Battle on any of these maps (except Yorkshire which is found in standard battles only). But trust me, there's nothing like just having a bit of fun on a forgotten map with some friends. Or just having a drive by yourself reminiscing the old times, i.e. when you had friends. What if you've quit Tanki? Well at least now, you're well equipped to take on that geography test first thing Monday. You don't have one? I'm afraid your teacher lied to you my friend. And if you don't do Geography? Well then... this truly was pointless. I will reply to you last time because at this point it's absolutely pointless to discuss this with you any further. Basically, you have only your own truth, and only your opinion is correct (at least that's what you present here). It does not matter who do you direct the post at, whether it's me or reporter or forum user or group of users, you are not here to accuse people of things that you have no proof, like calling them liars because they have different opinion or provoking conflicts. I already explained to you that you are always free to "provoke discussion", but what you enjoy most is just provoking conflicts. You say that I am selective about comments, and that I only accept praises, but as far as I know, the criticism I and others received in past and even criticism in this topic (even from you) was not hidden and is clearly visible which is something many can confirm. We also never said, we are ignoring your criticism or that we think only our opinion is right. You provided your comments, I reacted to them and provided my opinion. That's how discussion works, but I guess you have different opinion on that. I also told you that if you want to make a comment, whether it's praise or criticism, you are always welcome to do so, but it should not contain provocative parts that are simply just accusations standing on no ground. And as for me replying to you in 2 days, I believe I also explained that as well. I am volunteer, I have a real job that I must attend to for living so I can't always just sit here all day and read and reply to what some person said. When I have time I get to you.
-
Nothing was ignored. It's stupid to you because you think you can say whatever you want and justify it as "your opinion". But the fact is that if we let everyone do whatever they want because it's "their opinion", we would soon end up in chaos.
-
What a way to try to twist things. I already told you that reason for hiding the post wasn't that, but the fact that it was instigating fights on the forum.
-
There is only so much you can discuss with someone who has only his own truth and is ignorant to the opinions of others. I already provided explanations and my opinions, but you are just constantly going on in a circle. Sorry, but I am not really interested in going heads up against a wall. As you are clearly showcasing through your comments, what you enjoy the most is provocation rather than normal discussion. Believe it or not, you are not the only person and thing in this universe and just because I did not reply to you instantly in a minute does not mean I am ignoring you. I am a volunteer and if I have other personal or work related things to do than sorry, you will have to wait. And as far as I know, you also did not reply to my messages instantly so I don't know what issue are you trying to make out of this. Pretty much sums up your attitude. Let me just remind you that for such people we have forum mods here.
-
I have no reason to ignore the messages.
-
You can contact me in PM if you wish, we can discuss it further.
-
Please do not make this topic a war field, that applies to everyone. We are not here to attack each other. Everyone is free to make a point, but there is not really a need to go into some personal fights or take this as some personal attacks.

Just few words to this conversation and some points Guido mentioned here before it gets too much out of the hand. If you do not like particular article, you find that theme repetitive or it's just not your cup of coffee, that's completely fine. Everyone has their likings, so if you don't find something interesting, just skip it or leave your feedback, even if it's negative, but please try to be constructive so we know what to improve. As for the lack of creativity, please try to understand that every article is different. Some articles are based more on facts or personal experiences like guides and reviews, others require more imagination and creativity like humor-based articles, for example The Dictator. That's why we try to provide wider range of articles to please a variety of readers who like variety of different things. You may not take liking in the articles like kit reviews that you described as repetitive, but bear in mind that you do not represent the opinion of each and every reader. You might not like the format, and the theme, but there are others who like when author is methodical with format and like the topics he writes about. As you said, it's a matter of perspective. That applies also to the point you made about the rating of the componenets. Just because he rates the components highly does not mean that he is lying, it does not mean he is wrong, but it also does not mean he is right. Every reader reflects upon it differently. The writer can rate something 10/10 because from his point the equipment is powerful based on the statistics and experience he gained and I can absolutely agree with him because I share the same opinion and experience but, for example you, can hate that particular equipment and the playing style it offers, thus giving it far lower marks. Of course that does not mean that you or me are wrong, it only means we differ in opinion which is absolutely normal.

Review [Issue 79] Going Abroad With Tanki
Flexoo replied to Flexoo in [Issue 79] Going Abroad With Tanki Newspaper Archive
Hello there potential new traveler, or perhaps an experienced globetrotter. I am coming back at you with another extraordinaire article, this time concerning the experience of going abroad, savoring different culture and meeting new people. How is this related to Tanki? Well, it's about me and my experiences and I am a Tanki player. If that ain't sufficient enough vindication, take this as a review of one's experience abroad and how it affects a life of former Tanki Online addict. It might be interesting if you have the same ambitions or plans in the future. With that being said, I will backtrack to the very beginning of my story. I am from a relatively small country in the Central Europe where the opportunities do not wait behind every corner. I had to settle for a job I did not really like for some time, but left it because I could not imagine myself doing it any longer. Naturally, staying jobless is unimaginable unless you want to follow the rules of street live, so I got to find a new direction in my life. That's when my sis came to the play. She, living in France for a couple of years now, started to constantly mention the possibility of me joining her in the work in our weekly Skype calls. She and her partner run a restaurant along with couple of smaller pizzerias there and this year they decided to change their staff members after a rather disturbing last season, when my sis literally had to slap the sense into one of the arrogant employees. I took her offer with grain of salt as I interpreted her words only as a joke. Only later I found out that she was dead serious and purchased me a plane ticket. There was nothing much to think about after that. It was just a normal second cook position in a kitchen, but I did not have to worry about the housing or food, and I would make much more money than being a manager in my home country. There was only one minor problem. My entire French vocabulary and knowledge consisted of "Oui", "No", "baguette", and a one line from the collaborated song of Christina Aguillera, Pink, Lil Kim and Mia called Lady Marmelade which is not exactly useful in everyday conversations (if you know the lyrics, you will understand). But my sis reassured me that practically everyone speaks English there so couple of months later I packed my pyjamas, slippers and got off on a new journey. The first shock I experienced was directly after landing on French ground. I was instructed to take only few necessary pieces of summer clothing as a carry-on on the plane, so as soon as I stepped out, the blowing winds and low temeratures punched me into the face. I marched in the front shaking while the other passengers were steadily leaving the plane, unaffected by the weather. When I was finally picked up by my sibling, we set on a long road to new destination that I will call home for next several months. Astonishing Lac de Serre-Ponçon, a place near which my new residence is located. After a long three hours in the car we finally arrived at the place. As you can see from the picture above, the panorama of the lake and mountains is magnificent. Unfortunately, I did not have much time to enjoy it as right from the next day I had to endure the working routine of new job. First days were underwhelmingly boring. The season was just about to start so despite the fact I had to stay in the kitchen there wasn't much to do other than trying to converse with the natives. It was at this moment I found out that devil has an infinite number of liars and that one of them is my sister. When she told me everyone here speaks English I was expecting much more than the basics. But in the end, I guess I should not have trusted the judgement of a person who has no problem using "don't" and "was" in one sentence. Some time later, my boss finished the preparations of my room, and by room I mean caravan, lending me everything from small fridge (that does not function till this day) to the smallest of knickknacks like toothbrush. He even provided a computer, which he described as super powerful and useful. I was pretty thankful for taking care of me so much until I opened this junk and learned it still runs the ancient XP. Neverthless, it works more or less, so it's better than nothing. Soon the workload picked up a tempo and influenced my Tanki Online career to a huge extent. I found myself with so little time at disposal that I was barely able to focus on my Administration responsibilities and I was seriously considering calling it quits. I was barely able to scrapp up few hours or minutes a day to check what my team is doing. It is only thanks to my fellow admin, V'tando, that I am still here as he was the one who persuaded me to wait a bit and see how will things turn out in the upcoming months. In June, new and much needed colleagues poured into the restaurant as the number of guests increased with every day. First of 'em was a teen girl who was introduced to me as a fluent English speaker. I was excited since there wasn't really anyone whose English would resonate with mine. Although, this was far from truth. She did live in Canada for some time, but in the city of Quebec which has a sizeable French speaking population. The conversations with her looked something like this; "Where is aaa.... *makes a hand gesture that is probably depicting the bottle opener* for aaaa.... *points at the bottle*?" I don't know what she was fluent at, but it definitely was not English. This might come around as ignorant since I should be the one trying to speak French, but I was and still am lightning years from getting to at least a conversational level, so having someone to speak the language I already know was very important to me. To be entirely honest, I feel that spending time here takes me away from digging into basics of French grammar and vocabulary. But let me now freely transit to the arrival of to me the more interesting person. A certain nameless girl from Cyprus that spoke four languages including English. She was the butter to our toast. That's a very wierd analogy, so to put it clearly, she became that one friend who holds together the whole group. It was thanks to her that most of us found a way to each other, even despite the language barriers. She was that one super-active friend that needed to see every single monument, beach, mountain, city and literally anything that might be just slightly interesting. Les Demoiselles Coiffées de Pontis, one of the first places I visited with my colleagues. We finally reached the summer season and things got really hectic and crazy. Hundred people for lunch and than again on dinner took a toll on me. But we all had a good time and the staff were this time around far better, at least the boss said so, unlike the diners who were still thorn in the flesh. They say that customer is always right, but there are some you want to straight strangle to death. Like this guy who thought he had class when he popped up 5 Euros from his pocket and gave this celebrity smirk until the waiter informed him that the four coffies he ordered actually cost 8 Euros. Generally speaking, some of the people coming are, let's say, strange. For example, we found out special group that we humorously named "The Cafe and Kaka", in other words, people who come to a restaurant, order a coffee, pay for it and than go take a dump on a toilet. But let me circle to the ending by saying that I truly enjoyed my stay here in France with everything it takes. I tasted the cuisine, even the dishes I looked through the fingers before like Grenouilles (frog legs) or Moules (true mussels). They are quite tasty if they are prepared by a hand of skilled chef. I've seen a number of beautiful places, and I can say that France has much to offer, not just in Riviera or Paris, but also in the inland. And lastly I met some great people, both French and alien. I also had to say that my experience with the natives was more than positive, and the rumors that French are super rude did not apply in my case. Most of them were really nice and tried to communicate in their broken English when they learnt I do not speak French. As for my TO career, well it suffered a lot since I lost most of my free time I once spent on Tanki and I did not play the game itself for good 4 months. But that's how life works and i got to deal with it. So that's all to my long enough rant on going abroad. What are your experiences of being abroad? Are you going somewhere anytime soon or do you wish to visit and maybe stay in some particular country? Share your thoughts and experiences below! Thank you for reading.- 12 replies

Contest [Issue 76] Continue The Story - Final Chapter V
Flexoo replied to Flexoo in Newspaper Archive
CONTINUE THE STORY IV - RESULTS OF CHAPTER 4 Only four entries were sent this month, but it's time to wrap the story up so let's take a look at the winners. In the first place, winning 50,000 is @GrandExecutioner. He sovereignly dominated this chapter with high quality writing. A good start from this new writer. Let's see where he/she gets. Finally, placing fourth, winning 25,000 crystals is @thethiefofvictory. Interview [Issue 76] Racin' in the Streets of Tanki - ft. D_A_R_K_F_I_N

Fast engines, rivality, ambitions and smell of burning asphalt in the air. That's what the racing is about. Believe it or not, this particular activity that pumps the blood in your veins can be found even in Tanki, and today I have just the guy who knows a lot about it. Please welcome, D_A_R_K_F_I_N. Hello there D_A_R_K_F_I_N, I hope you are nice and comfy. Thanks for accepting my humble request for interview. To kick things off, let's start with some preliminary introductions. So please, tell us a little bit about yourself. I'm from Finland and I'm 23 years old. I got job in real life and really enjoy doing it. I work as a salesman in a department store. I'm a positive person and friends are important to me. Also respecting other people is very important in my opinion. I have been playing this game almost 4 years and I love organizing the events in Tanki Online. I like football and ice hockey. I love to listen music. (Hollywood Undead, Disturbed and Skillet are my favourite ones). I like to watch movies & series on Netflix. (Mostly CW and Marvel series). Now with the introductions out of the table, let's get to the real business. How did you stumble upon Tanki? When did your journey begin? One day in 2014 I just searched for good multiplayer games on Miniclip. I found Tanki Online and I really surprised how good game it was. Before Tanki I played "Runescape" which is also a multiplayer game. Got some friends there, had fun and was hoping the same from Tanki Online. Now I can say it was right choice to pick this game. In my opinion, It's the best free multiplayer game so far. It must have been a long road, but how did you learn about Tanki Races? Was there someone who introduced you to this? It was the year 2015 when really good friend of mine suggested me to join the unofficial event called "Ricochet Club". We both loved using Rico and it was the first event I was interested to participate. We made some ”Rico Battles” which were lots of fun. Later I became leader of the Club as well. After Ricochet Club wasn't active anymore.. I decided to make my own Club. Can you tell us what the Tanki Races actually are? Who came out with the initial idea? How are they organized? And who and how can join them? How often are they organized? Our Tanki Racing Event is mostly for fun, but it's also about showing players actual driving skills with Hornet and Wasp. After Ricochet Club I came out with the initial idea to have races in Tanki. I just imagined: What if we had races like in F1 in Tanki Online? We also could have "time trials" before the actual race and "starting positions" like in F1. After I figured out which kind of race would be good and what kind of race tracks to use.. I asked my friends would they be interested to join to in racing event. I think there were 8-10 friends of mine who joined at first. I also contacted my friend GeneralVeers and asked him would he be interested to record and commentate races for us. He said yes, and that's how it all started. I would say without GeneralVeers it all might have been for nothing. We have 2 kind of races: Public Race: Anyone can join our Public Race. We have Public Race almost every week, on Sundays at 1-3 pm UTC. Link of the race will be posted on our Topic. We have had 49 public races so far. Even races have been public ones, the most of players have behaved and followed the rules very well. Some players even want to drop lots of gold boxes after the race has ended. I have huge respect for them who has dropped gold boxes for us in Public Races. Official Race / Private Race: This kind of race is very well organized. Only players who have proven good behavior and follows the rules can join our Official Race. Before the actual race, me or other organizer make "Time Trials" for every racer who is participating in the event. Basically time trials are about me or other organizer taking time while racer drives the race track. Racer drives usually 1 lap in time trials. The racer who got the fastest time in time trials has first starting position in the race. Official Races are always recorded by the Spectator. We have also commentators almost in every race. After all, we have had 37 Official Races. Sadly, it's been almost one year from our latest one. We simply didn't have spec recorders anymore. I have tried to ask some new guys to record for us, but seems like most of spec recorders are too busy to record for us. I'm really hoping that we will have spec recorder some day. It has been soon 2 years since our very first race. It would be nice to have great racing videos again with the race commentator in the near future. Tanki Racing Event is organized by helpers of the event. We make map with CTF & Parkour mode. 1st Helper is putting red mines at the edges of race track for guiding racers which way to drive. (Racers are usually racing only in red team). 2nd Helper is putting blue mines which we call "explosive mines". The purpose of these mines is to make cheating harder in our races. We put explosive mines at possible shortcuts and corners of the race track. 3rd Helper (New) goes to blue team and he/she is taking cheaters out by shooting them with Shaft. If I am not mistaken, GeneralVeers was once the topic owner, or maybe we can say organizer. Did you take the leadership batton from him? I came up with the idea and created the topic. But before I created topic, I had to make sure that someone could record races for us. GeneralVeers is a good friend of mine and I asked him if he could record races for us. I wouldn't have made the event without him and after all he recorded lots of our races. I'm very thankful to him for doing that. What do you think is the most interesting thing about these races? If you are a good driver with Hornet or Wasp. then it's really exciting experience to race versus other racers and show them your truly driving skills. Example. It must feel really good if you start like in 4th or 5th "starting position" and became 1st in the whole race. Do you have any words of advice for those who have racing in their blood? What to do or not to do in the event if they want to be on the podium? I think the most important thing in Tanki Race is to drive the race track turns good. Hornet is the perfect choice for racing because it's drifting and fast. It requires good driving skills at turns of the race track. Before the every race, it's really important to check race track picture. In the picture you can see which way to go and where are the explosive mines at. It might give you advance to win the race. What not to do in the race? Well, it's like opposite what I just told above. Making bad turns in the race track. Don't get blocked by road barriers like walls or other racers. Most important might be.. Don't lag out during the race. Do you have any ideas or plans for future of this unofficial events? There might be one idea. It's about Football/Soccer in map of Stadium. If it wasn't possible to make before, Rugby mode might make it more possible indeed. Thank you for your time. best of luck with the races. Don't let anyone to pull you over (smirk)! And so there you have it. If you are interested and full of adrenalin after reading this, do not hesitate a second and give a look to the unofficial Tanki Racing Events. Good luck and drive safe!- 17 replies

I can't tell you how much you will win or if you will win at all, because it depends on what you will put forward and what will your competition write. You have the same chance to win the grand prize as everyone else.
