Cheer up. The devs got paid a lot of overtime getting it working. Oh, you wanted it to be FUN...? Sorry about that -- that was never the plan.
-
No, they can probably milk the PRO battles and new players for awhile. But you are right that we do NOT have to play a system that we don't like, just because they can't or won't police the original concept. Could have told you that without even trying. Can't choose battle? Can't choose team? Can't keep playing on the same map? How could that NOT SUCK??? More efficient. Well, that's good, except not good for the players, who will almost universally dislike it When did you start choosing more efficient over doing what the players enjoy doing? Eventually, the players will choose to do something else. Then devs have to get real jobs...

So basically we now have to choose between GETTING MISSION BONUSES (in random maps) or PLAYING THE MAPS WE LIKE... Ah, there is a third choice...can you guess what it is??

Speed hack luka_xp_super
dfoofnik replied to dfoofnik in Speed hack luka_xp_super Game Violation Reports
Hello Player luka_xp_super is already BLOCKED. -
Or you are connecting to a Tanki server that has dropout issues. Nothing you can do but wait for another one to take its place. I get in, play a battle, start another one, and *poof* my display blacks out -- I'm still in the battle but not interacting with anything. I guess it is amazing that they can keep *almost all* of the players connected. If all your other internet works perfectly, it's not you.

THREE DISCONNECTS in 1 hour on Saturday AM. I'll come back in about a week when you might have it figured out.
-
Well, there's another BIG GLITCH today: while playing Shaft, pressing any arrow key sends you to a useless overhead observation ("blimp camera") view. Please change what you INTENDED to change and remove this stupid feature from battles! I can't be stopping to lower back down and resize the window during a battle!

THEBEST24974 blocking and self-destructing his own team
dfoofnik replied to dfoofnik in THEBEST24974 blocking and self-destructing his own team Game Violation Reports
Hello Video must NOT be edited (FullScreen Video). Before creating this topic , Please read : *** GAME VIOLATIONS SECTION RULES *** -
There is now a THIRD GLITCH on the Battle List View : scores may show correctly (or not) but the GAME SCORE or KILL TOTAL starts at ZERO when you open the individual battle i.e. Players have hundreds of points but the score shows 0-0, then 1-0, or 0-1 as the game progresses. Somebody has been playing with the Display Program again without realizing how buggy it gets... Add this to : - wrong number of players displayed - scores do not reset to 0 at battle end
-
Well, since they broke it, why not just undo what they did wrong? Too many cooks, and no head chef?? Or are they busy with pointless new ways to amuse the paying customers (who will be the only ones left by next year at the current attrition rate).
-
Me neither. Since Friday. I think it started last week on Wednesday, when they were futzing with Rugby (rolled out screwed up).
-
Exactly: since Jan 31, the "Profiles" pages come back "Page Not Found" - did someone change the code and forget to add that to the URL???

You obviously need to play as Shaft to see the limitations: getting shot by wild rail shots, bombed by Magnum. There are no such limitations for Magnum, but they can be vulnerable in smaller maps. Rail is like an artform, but if they lost their auto-aim, they would suck eggs -- a real crutch for some players.
-
I don't think it takes a Genius to see that on some battles (Highway, Massacre, Year2042, Kolhoz) the Magnums earn more kills and better ratios than any other turret because of the difficulty of a non-Magnum attacking them (unless they hide poorly). You would have to fight your way through the whole schmeer. My rule of thumb is : if both sides have a Magnum, it partly balances...otherwise I just leave the battle rather than get killed with impunity by an OP. * On most battles, Rails and Shafts are about equally balanced, and even Thunder to some extent.
-
Massacre has a hole down the middle instead of to the left sides. CP point is more vulnerable. The bases are actually from an OLDER version for CTF that put the flags inside (instead of exposed). Having these new maps - does rather suck for experienced players because you have to learn a lot of new approaches, hiding spots, firing points, especially for Shaft.
-
I was amazed at the RAIN OF BLACK GOLD but I had a bad feeling when the server reset after just 2 hours. Unlike others, I kept shooting, and got a 3-to-1 kill rate while dropping mines at the Box Marks! :P How many of the comments above were happy about free gear only to have it taken away???
-
If only we could...maybe the radiation would mutate the brains of the devs, so they would think like players instead of "feature junkies...".
-
I reached that point last year, when they kept changing paints and power levels. Finally, I just bought a SH*TLOAD of supplies at a huge discount, ran my Legend up to 14, my D/L to 1.60 and my body count to 250K. Nothing left to do now. It takes too much patience to even get in a battle you can win in... For those who were overjoyed to have me save your battles, you won't have me around anymore...
-
You think so? I've been saying that for the past year, full of changes thought up by programmers to keep their jobs...no matter if they don't actually work. Boy, if I knew they would all spend years looking for another job once they kill Tanki, I would be really gratified.
-
I could have predicted it -- server disconnect means that you cannot join as many as 40% of the battles even when there is an open spot. Boy, you guys (the devs and their bosses) have REALLY REALLY screwed the pooch on this one. People who join here will see your incompetence and Tanki X will dry up and blow away...I hope that you spend mucho time in the unemployment line. As soon as my supplies are gone, so am I. You have turned a good game into a ridiculously over-complicated abomination.
-
I personally object to those who want you to use the overdrive for THEM. These are the same baby-brains who shove you off a parapet when you're on their team, or spent a whole battle trying to push you into the line of fire until you quit, just to keep you from scoring or "stealing" their kills. I can only hope that they all find themselves unemployable when they flunk (junior?) high school.
-
Having multiple servers that already have problem is not ideal -- twice I respawned onto the WRONG BATTLE (a CTF instead of a TDM)...so obviously you all do not have your act together. Are any of your posts here going to be ON TOPIC - you do realize there are lots of threads to complain on...? Got my Legend 14 and 1.60 D/L so there's no reason to stay here now. Fewer players, fewer battles, more glitches, and catering to the Clans is not going to keep Tanki going for long...TO, you have shot your load and it's time to admit you can't offer players what they really want anymore,,,,
-
Absolutely. It has become a "mob drug" that prevents good play from succeeding. Almost got him dead? -- NO! His teammate has overdrive! I have occasionally benefited from it when attacking, but the immature numbskulls (who apparently make up the majority of Tanki players) think that they *deserve* my Overdrive when I am playing strategically: help them now or save the flag defenders? I have to decide, not them! I have had people push, almost flip me when they can only see what they want for themselves. Want supplies? Buy them, fool!

Review [Special] A Test in Review: The Matchmaking System
dfoofnik replied to Yisroel.Rabin in Newspaper Archive
I think the MAJOR reason that Matchmaking will fail is that people like using THEIR SPECIAL EQUIPMENT on those battles where that equipment works best for them. By having RANDOM BATTLES and being THROWN INTO LOST BATTLES, their playing experience is vastly degraded. However, the object of Tanki is not to make an enjoyable game, but to make one that generates revenue -- forcing players to have equipment for any possible map or wasting their time waiting, joining, and leaving battles. Just as the OVERDRIVE was designed primarily to generate SUPPLY SALES, so the Matchmaking is designed to generate EQUIPMENT PURCHASES AND UPGRADES. I am unable to fathom how they imagine enough people will like the new system to compensate for the lack of longtime customers who will (like me) LEAVE when Matchmaking becomes the involuntary.standard. Talented programmers who can't fix bugs, and successful managers who can't see the long-term effects of changes, will have killed the game through sheer ineptitude. -
Sorry. You are quite correct. But you left out annoying problems created every time something is added to the game. They are getting paid and can ignore you, unless you prefer they lie to you like the Critical Error Fix. (still happens, fix created more glitches) I would like to keep playing but they have reached my IPTL - Incompetent Programming Tolerance Limit. Maybe someone smarter could salvage Tanki, but they have too much invested in it to admit they've flawed it beyond recovery.
