    In Defense of Supplies

I only use them when I need them, like speed boost when running with the flag. What people complain about is when a Wasp-Smoky goes into your base fully drugged JUST to kill and annoy. I'm unclear on your opinion on said Wasp, but to me it's not right. Even if the supplies were removed, people would complain, you're right there.

I don't support them, but I don't like using them. It's lukewarm for me. Once I reach the higher ranks I'll stick to PRO battles with them off. Also, I envy your friend's level of self control.

    A guide to defending

I am an average defender, and I like to share my knowlage and opinions. So let me start with one thing here: Mammoth and Titan aren't the only good hulls for defending. Viking and Dictator, at least in my experience, can be just as good if you utilize one thing; Situational awareness. We will start with two buttons that can be either your lifesaver, or your demise. Q and E. They change your perspective entirely. Going from the default veiw to a top-down perspective, a very wide view of your surroundings, and everything in between. The top-down perspective is useful for checking behind buildings at your base, or in the midfield you can now defend by using these semi-fast hulls. The wide sniper's view is good for defending while behind something with Dictator. We'll start here with top down. Pros: 1. Very good for chasing down a person hiding behind a building. 2. Very good with Firebird or if you're holding the flag for someone. Cons: 1. Not a lot of coverage from that one Railgun. 2. Not good with long-range weapons. 3. You will be unaware of everything else around you. Only use this one if there's that one pesky Wasp hiding behind the building. Otherwise you'll be killed blindly. Sniper's view. Pros: 1. Good for Vulcan-Dictator combos on large open maps. (Just hide behind a building or pipe and you're good!) 2. Lets you see things coming. Cons: 1. Again, not very good at close-range with long-range weapons. 2. Your back is a weak point. 3. ONLY useful in certain scenarios. And lastly: What to do if they storm your spawn. Keep calm, switch to the default view, and do your best. As soon as your team clears the base check for people hiding. If in TDM have your team go to the middle and regain some kills, this will set your team back by a lot. If in CTF prepare for a smaller wave and send a few off to go for the flag. Now we will discuss good combos for defending, classed by type of defense. Flag defense; Viking-Firebird: Never NEVER wait on top of the flag, you'll be to obvious. If in Silence wait in between two buildings, anywhere else you wait behind something near the flag and pop out. (Note: A "Suprise mother-----" isn't necessary but will add humor to the situation.) Viking-Freeze: Only use this to slow them down and let your teamates finish them off, you don't have the power to fight them off alone. Please note that with both of these the enemy will catch on to you eventually. Base defense on crowded areas Viking-Firebird: Pretty easy, just move around behind cover (If necessary) and attack any incoming enemies. Viking-Hammer: Same as Firebird but with Hammer. Dictator-Vulcan: Hide behind a tall thing with the back of your Dictator only SLIGHTLY sticking out and cover a single angle, like an exposed tunnel or something of that sort. Dictator-Thunder: A bit impractical but it works, similar to Vulcan but be sure to hide if spotted. Midfield defense Viking-Anything: Just play midfield like normal. Dictator-Vulcan: Use cover like you would defending base but support the attackers and attack incoming enemies. Defense on Opposition This goes in a class of it's own because the spawns are a little different. Viking-Firebird on the blue side: Hide behind the tower and come out only when the enemy invades through the tunnels. Viking-Firebird on the red side: Hide behind the concrete barrier looking thing with a bite taken out of it and attack like you would on the blue side. Dictator-Vulcan on the blue side: Go up the ramps with you teammates and stay on the lower cliffs, you can attack and defend the base from there. Dictator-Vulcan on the red side: Act like you would as a Firebird but in the Sniper's view (See above) and provide cover fire. And lastly, on Noise Blue team defense Firebird-Viking: Hide either under the ramps or in a secluded corner and give whoever comes down a bad time. Red team defense Viking-Firebird: Wait behind or beside the building near the flag and attack intruders. Dictator-Vulcan: Wait on the ramp nearest the middle and provide supporting fire. Cover isn't as much of a requirement here. Assorted tips: A flag runner relies on momentum and being able to move through a clear path. Both of these can be countered with Titan or any hull for that matter, if you can't kill them off you can damn well stop their escape until someone who can does. In the meantime weaken them as much as possible. Contributions from readers Creeperskelly: "Annother great rule for defending:if an enemy is flipped on the side (such as Fire/Freeze/Isida/Twins) or totally flipped over then leave them be - the time to self destruct is longer than it will take you to kill them and allow them to respawn. Use this time to withdraw and prepare for another enemy. A flipped tank is like the enemy team losing one player for 12 seconds or so. Finally there are times when it is better to try to push an enemy off rather than fight them. " MacNaughton: Don't return your flag! I know. Sounds crazy right? I see so many creatures of habit run up to their flag to return it to base, but is this always the best course of action? Take a look around. Are there any opposing team members bearing down on the flag? Return it quick in this case. Are there opponents sitting on your base's flag position ready to run with your flag unopposed? Definitely not a good time to return the flag; especially if no opponents are bearing down on you to get your out of place flag. I've seen this happen often. The enemy steals the flag but they are stopped soon after. The flag is safely nestled out of view of the enemy team and they have to work harder to find it. It's not in it's home; they may even assume that one of their teammates has it and not worry too much about it. Explain this thinking soon in the battle to your teammates and run into your mates trying to replace it. Even a few seconds of delay may help your team get the advantage. A few more seconds for other teammates to rally and kick but are always handy. Oh, and another thing. While the enemy comes in waves don't be afraid to die while defending; best time to die is just after a wave. Rush into enemy land to give them some shots and die in the process. Reset with new life and vigour to reposition near your flag. There aren't always health boxes around and better to give them some shots from your gun while you charge in instead of self destructing, of course. These are the 2 tips I have for defending. Plus, talk to your team and get someone to stay with you on defence with you. Better yet, get a real life friend to play with you so you can have real time communication about the situation. Thank you for contributing, if it looks sloppy it's because I'm kind of new. That is all, if you remember these things you can defend properly with medium hulls. (Sorry, wasn't sure where to post this, if you're a mod and this is the wrong place can you correct it? Thanks.)

    New Supply: Flashbang Mine

My point there is that flashbangs are created for use on humans... I have no idea how they would effect the tanks unless they were thrown into one through the top hatch. Which, in turn, would require more animation like a little man throwing one in. It just doesn't make sense to me, sorry. Nice idea though.

    Is Tanki Becoming Pay-To-Play?

Nah, the main reason people are leaving is because the game just becomes stale after a while. Like all things, the game won't be everlasting. After we reach Generalissimo, we'll just get bored with it. This game is great, it will always be great, but we can't expect it to last forever.

    New Supply: Flashbang Mine

Why not call it an EMP? We're talking about vision mechanically, like viewed through optics or a driver's/gunner's port, right? If so, an EMP would make more sense, disabling said optics. The tanks are piloted by a crew, I imagine.
