I like it too - maybe a real laser turret. Bounces off walls and deals a sustained blast (like Vulcan)

New bugs discovered after the Critical Error was disabled

Biggest problem for me remains client freezes. Happens seemingly at random although there may be predictable causes elsewhere on the map -
Lots of hate in the actual game today about the mission update - check RU2 chat window right now.
-
I think this makes the daily mission chains too much of a hassle. Sure I'll do missions when I can, but 3k crystals once a week is not worth the pain for causal players anymore.
-
Pretty hopeless IMO - goes back to the flaw in the scoring system - a player is rewarded for a flag return, regardless of whether an enemy player simply snatches it again. Happens in Legend battles all the time. Sometimes it can't be helped. I'll always return a flag from within inches of the enemy base, when I usually can't see my home base or who is in it.

aaand we're back to spending crystals to repurchase what the designers took away. But in this case I would go ahead and do it. The featherweight M4 Viking is just awful under the out of control impact forces at M3/4.

Magnum - just call it Johnson and be done with it. :D There's also- Anaconda Colossus Fungun Lobber Intruder Javelin Linglong Maximus Nightcrawler Pulse Cannon Python Ramburgular Scepter Serpent Shunter Pole Spelunker Tankslapper Thumper Troublemaker Whamadoodle And my personal favorite, Custard Chucker :D . .

Hammer Twins and Smoky are ok but get kill stolen a lot.

What I ask myself is 'what has Alterniva done to lure veteran buyers like myself back into the game?' I don't have a good answer, so my play remains on indefinite hiatus. I'll probably be back when Artillery hits the game. As for this update, the only bit that really surprises me is the 5k Crystal rental price for alterations. For high ranks, they might as well be free. I fully expect every player I see in battle to be on perpetual rental of every possible alteration. IMO it would have made more sense to scale the rental price by rank. Or at least limit how many items or how often one can rent. But as Hazel said in the live stream, players suggesting changes 'is not how this works.' Fair game play at high ranks can be hard to come by. Too many times I found battles with one or two players dominating the battlefield. That's just not fun, and if I'm not having fun playing the game, why play?

You are mistakenly thinking about PayGarden. PaySafeCard takes only what Tanki charges. It is actually a very good payment method.
-
Problem is all those tankers shifted to Titan. It's the new Viking. Now Titan is EVERYWHERE. *said approximately a week before the great Titan nerf of 2017  .

Just got around to watching the livestream with you and Hazel and wanted to say thank you. Very informative with lots of juicy hints at what is to come. Thank you all. Not that you guys can do that every week or even every month but it would be great to see more of these in the future. On a related note, I've seen less client freezes lately. Not sure if that correlates to code improvement, but it's making the game more fun to play, so thank you for keeping the client viable.

Wow - great information. For me, new insight into what happened with Tanki and TankiX. I remember when we were talking about TOF and TOU (Tanki Online Flash and Unity respectively). I remember hearing announcements about Unity support dropping from browsers. I also remember the 'No' heard round the world when Alterniva announced there would be no account transfer to TankiX. Until now I had no idea the former directly caused the latter. It is also good to hear we will eventually move from Flash to HTML5.

^I fee ya bro. I feel like the game mechanics are becoming too complex. I'll come back to the expense in a sec. But think about this - how would you feel as a new player confronted with a game that you cannot master no matter how much time and money you invest? Sure there are plenty of 'endless' games out there, but this one pretends there is an end (Legend - was Generalissimo) and fools players into getting there as fast as possible. Once you scratch and claw your way you discover that you have mastered nothing. You must now fill out your entire garage and upgrade everything to M4 --- and don't forget to buy three or five protection modules and get those to 50-50-50 percent. Legend isn't and end - it's a whole new beginning. OK now talking costs. A lazy player can buy their way into an M4 garage using lots of bundles, sales, and other discounts but will spend about 5million crystals at a cost of around $1000 in US dollars. I know this from experience and I am not proud. I would love to know how many hours it would take a free player earning average battle funds to be able to afford the same.

^agree with your concluding thoughts Rico and turret rotation I need to explain. I have M4 Rico Viking. I turn my turret. Many people don't because the turret rotation is flawed - very slow start followed by rapid turning acceleration - very hard to control. You either can't match the maneuver of your enemy or end up overcompensating. Now that Viking is a freaking paper airplane, it is often more reliable to turn my hull. Of course overdoing hull rotation with Viking is a problem too. I do still laugh a bit when I see a Rico Hornet though.

I disliked that I couldn't spawn drug, yet objectively, that's a good move. I liked that I could multi drug. I did not notice a difference in battle implosion but I admit I wasn't playing much that weekend. -> was sick :(

Livestream with Cedric and Hazel-Rah - DATE & TIME ANNOUNCED
austen_pierce replied to theFiringHand in News Archive
Or generalizing, what will you do to make high rank play as fun as low/mid rank play? That's actually the answer to the first question in the above quote. M0-M2=fun M3-M4=pain -
Sadly, this is EXACTLY the type of change Tanki has been making lately. -Removing Isida self heal -numerous changes to Smoky's critical -ditto for Firebird's afterburn -ditto for Freeze's freezing -ditto for Vulcan's gyro and overheat Tanki is shy about changing Railgun, the hallmark turret of the game, so I agree removing its penetrating power is unlikely to happen. Then I remember that Fire, Freeze, and Shaft used to have penetration power and now don't. Second guessing... who knows what changes might come.
-
Shaft is looking really good in battles today. All those M4 Viking's going up in smoke...
-
I'm seeing it now. Thanks devs for your weekend experiment
-
Shaft. I have never ever seen more than 2 shafts in a Polygon DM or CP game. Until today. 4-5 shafts in every game. Lasers everywhere. Medium hulls blowing up left and right. With it's latest buff, guess what? Shaft is now the king of the turrets. This will probably only last long enough for lots of players to invest heavy crystals into shaft. Then the inevitable nerf comes. Sigh.

Patch Update #441 - Changes to Isida, Hammer and Shaft, and other changes
austen_pierce replied to theFiringHand in News Archive
Everyone, the takeaway message here is that we as players need to be EXTREMELY cautious about buying Alterations. In case the why is not obvious... 1-Alterations just like anything else are subject to change, meaning DONT buy something because of that 250% boost it gives you. Next update - watch that boost get nerfed to 50% and your crystals are still gone. The more powerful an Alteration seems to be, the more likely it is to change. 2-CASE IN POINT - Alterations may add or subtract to a feature of the turret *cough* self-healing *cough* that might not be there after the next update. You know what else will also be gone? Yep, your crystals. 3-Alterations usually offer a percentage offset from a base stat. That means that when the base value gets nerfed, that nerf unintentionally propagates through your expensive Alteration. This is what has happened with Hammer and High Capacity Drum. The Alteration itself is unchanged, but since the turret's clip reload parameter increased, the Alteration's percentage increase to that speed results in a ridiculous clip reload time. Again, don't count on ever getting those crystals back... I wish I had better advice on what constitutes a wise investment of your crystals, but it's pretty obvious now that whatever the new hotness is today - will be reduced in power or otherwise nerfed soon enough. -
Cedric, I am very concerned with the way Hazel-Rah is interacting with players on today's patch thread.
-
Yep. Kidding - it's like a mini game. Might be tough for players to get past the fact that the in battle crystals do not equate to their ongoing inventory
