    Let's Discuss Alternate Accounts!

Rail or shaft, they don't lose damage over distance like Thunder and Smoky do. Hunter might be a better choice than Viking to get you better positioned over larger maps. Okay, as a Viking lover, I threw up in my mouth a little bit while typing that ;)

The 4 days of Iron Days celebrations are here!

I used a Mission Reward Premium 3 hour account and raked in something like 30k crystals is three hours of play. Very nice. I am now waiting for more info on the upcoming MU sale. :)

    Let's Discuss Product Kits

Simple Answer: they make the game more interesting. Ask yourself the same question about supplies. I can drive over a box on a map and suddenly I am healed, my armor is twice as strong, my turret twice as deadly, my tank much faster, or any combination of these. They make the game more fun to play. Same for kits. They give players something to plan for and work toward. Balance the early unlock with the struggle to afford most kits. Saving those crystals usually means your tank is inferior to others in battle for a long time, since others are investing in current equipment. The obvious payoff is that you are very powerful for awhile after you get the kit. But that's not the end since you must immediately begin improving your kit. The other option in is buying crystals. Obviously you are trading off because you must spend real world money. And then there is what you get. Only a very few kits are perfect combo of hull, turret, and paint. Most give you a turret and maybe a hull that you want with a paint you could take or leave. In that case you are paying for what you don't want and really only benefitting from the early unlock. Hint make sure you can't just buy your equipment outright if the early unlock item is not what you really want.

    Rico of course :)

    Let's Discuss Ricochet!

I recommend Viking over Hunter but I'm not sure the differences in armor are relevant. It really comes down to personal preference. Yes Hunter is a bit faster, Viking a bit stronger. Both are good with Rico. But you always want to improve your weapon first. And don't waste crystals on MUs past 5 or at most 10 for M0 to M2 modifications.

"No-kill" rule during gold box drop

I paid a bit more attention to this during gold box drops yesterday. There is more killing going on than I originally thought. While two-thirds of player search for the drop location, the remaining third continue firing. It's much less effective though since most tabks have DA on and are usually moving away from attackers, so there are fewer kills. Nonetheless the behavior of cease fire during drops is less observed than I originally thought.

What turret hull combo do you expect to use once you pass the intro Smoky-Hunter stage?

    Let's Discuss Isida!

Here is where I think this turret lands M0- amazing M1- weak M2- usable M3- very good M4- devastating Thoughts on this? Z

    Let's Discuss Viking!

I've only seen two, maybe three RedSuit paints in battle. Not that popular at Marshal. Paints with no Fire, Rail, or Thunder protection are just not going to be big in this game.

Isida or medic, and start MUing the Isida. At M4 it is devastating.

You're right. Makes me want to create an alt and intentionally not earn XP just so I can snag some entertainment every now and then. :D

    Let's Discuss Alternate Accounts!

Yeah gameplay is very different in lower ranks. Easy for an experienced tanker to take first. Frustrating team battles because of lemmings and other doofus teammates. Easy gold box captures "What was that?". Supplies ignored on the battlefield. A lot more maps to choose from. But the biggest difference is is the fun. I'm Sad to say that the lower ranks are a lot more fun to play. Gameplay at high ranks is a desperate grind for crystals by any means necessary.

    Let's Discuss Isida!

I tend to agree. I was never afraid of Isida until I started running into M3+ versions. As a Rico user I could always pound an Isida into a pulp well before they drained me. Not so with Isida M3. Those things are just insane. If they spawn near you you pretty much have to DA drug or you're toast. Personally I dislike drugging and only do it when I have do. Check my profile if you don't believe me. My only survival tactic against Isida M3 is to wait until they have just drained an enemy and are thus low on charge. If I can do damage before they can recharge I have a chance of getting the kill. But it's not a gimme. A lot depends on what hull they are using. Medic kit or any other combo with Viking is devastating.

    Let's Discuss Viking!

Viking is good, arguably great. The problem with both Viking and Hunter is (duh) that as versatile medium tanks they are never the best at anything. They are not the fastest tanks nor are they the toughest. But they are good enough to play in battles which require speed and other battles which require strength. This is foremost a huge money saver since you can play any battle without having to invest in specialty tanks. I played through to Marshal on Viking only and have done well in battles and in crystals. I do avoid Monte Carlo, Düsseldorf, and Lost Temple because those are home to long range weapons, not necessarily because Viking is a slower tank. My only beef with Viking is the steering. It feels like all the weight and power is at the very center of the hull. A hit to the corner by almost any weapon sends Viking radically off course or worse, spin it like a top. But this is a small price to pay for such a tough tank.

    Let's Discuss Paints!

Raccoon. The Prot against more turrets especially Hammer is more important than having higher numbers on just two prots. And Vulcan really isn't that common outside of Noise and other CTF battles.

    Let's Discuss Ricochet!

Always upgrade turrets first. Assuming both are unlocked at your rank.

    Let's Discuss Alternate Accounts!

I'll start alts to play with equipment I don't use on my main. I'm up to four total accounts. Might make another one for Titan/Vulcan But... Once I M4 my main, I will abandon most of these alt accounts and just buy M3 versions of what I like. Tanki has sort of addressed this with trial versions, but they need to expand this in order to reduce the number of alts out there. That is if Tanki even considers this a problem... .

"No-kill" rule during gold box drop

I seldom kill during the wait. There is usually a lull in the battle, which I use to find the drop location. I will use my turret to bull my way to the middle of the drop point, usually not successfully. Most tanks have popped DA by this point so I'm still not killing. Related question. Dropping a mine on the drop point... Ethical or no? I don't ever do this but see it every once in a while. My personal feeling is that all's fair in war.

    Let's Discuss Ricochet!

You will be more powerful with Fire. But Rico is more fun and enjoyable

    Let's Discuss Ricochet!

Guilty admission: I have used Rico's long M3 range on occasion to kill tanks who thought they were hiding. I can't hear the splat of the hit but if I am lucky I will see the kill on the upper right scroll. This is really only effective against weakened opponents or tanks which are blocked from an easy escape by another player
  25. austen_pierce

    Let's Discuss Ricochet!

Why range? Projectile speed is so low and auto aim so poor over open terrain that range is only good when your target is AFK. After the first hit, most enemies move, forcing Rico to adjust aim. By that time Rico is toast from the enemy which crept up behind you. Rico may be able to shoot long range (only at M3), but it is far from a long range weapon. Scoring a kill at max range is extremely rare, and that range usually means that there is enough life for the bounce to come back and self damage.
