  1. Keeping with the Scottish theme. I like the music that these guys produce, but I don't know how keen I'd be to have them busking in front or my upscale department store :)
  2. Disturbing...very disturbing. I enjoy not liking this. It makes me very uncomfortable. I guess that is one function of art. It's a good catchy tune, well delivered lyrics, and a great production on the video. I certainly want to explore this song more and find out more about the artist. ...rough piece of music...yikes!
  3. This is really good. The bagpipe fits so well...whoda thunkit? The bagpipes always have a inspirational/rallying quality to their sound. I always equated this to movies I've watched and the scenes where bagpipes played...usually battle-ish, glory of war stuff. They carry this idea on inot this punchy headbanging music, but do with without apology. Th guy playing does as good a job as a lead guitar shredder, but the tambor of the pipes gives the piece a whole new identity. The guy playing the bodhran does a great job too...I like the whole drum segment...this is really a great piece. I must listen to this more and listen to more from these guys. Thanks for the post
  4. Something truly different
  5. I missed a Styx concert after a show Humble Pie did at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. The audience was so rowdy and riotous that they kind of shredded the venue and the powers that be shut the Aragon down for rock and roll for several years...they canceled all the upcoming concerts. The Styx concert I had tickets for was the next night, so a new venue could not be found in time and the concert was just gone. I've always held a slight grudge against Humble Pie...I forgave Peter Frampton though. :) ...and a re-imagining of the same tune....I actually like this one the best (I'm old)
  6. More music from The Handmaid's Tale (S2E13). The producers of this TV series are very good at picking slightly obscure pop music that fits, or is jarring with their story line. An early 90's piece I haven't heard since the early 90's...very catchy tune, but I must say I'm not wild about the super well produced video portion...I never saw it before today. I like the music just by itself much better. The vid kind of detracts in my opinion...too much and too busy. The images don't even remotely interface with my mind's idea of this song. Pop hippie music...it was played constantly on the radio back in the day. Tunes like this helped mold the hippie generation and the later 70's...impressionable youth :)
  7. Difficult choice since both are quite good, but tonight it has to be Nova Twins...so well produced. This is the first time I've heard of them (thanks) and Hit Girl is going into my monthly rotation...I hope it improves my slaughter quotient in Tanki :)
  8. I haven't heard this in years...so good :) Thanks for the reminder. -------------------------- I like the Big Country tune you posted, but Big Country just can't be mentioned without one of my all time favorite songs; their biggie hit "In a Big Country". Dancing in Santa Cruz at The Catalyst and in Honolulu at The Wave...I wax nostalgic.

They almost always forget alterations. They probably just copy and paste the announcements so all mistakes/omissions are just passed on to the next event. Sloppy, but what can one expect from these guys at Tanki?
  10. I just finished watching an episode of The Handmaid's Tale (S2E6) an this was the end credits song. It was an absolutely perfect piece of music for the ending of this particular episode. Perfect. I normally am not too keen on Punk, only a few choice tunes float my boat, but this, in conjunction with the film, was truly stellar.

    Turret Balance, Holiday Paint Update

Tanki is actively and aggressively trying to get players to drug MORE. They sell supplies so they want everyone to use as many supplies as possible. That's why RGB and ASL have ball drops or flags on existing supply drop zones...less supply drops means more drug use from stockpiles...eventually stockpiles run dry and players send in cash for more supplies. And, as long as they are sending money maybe they buy some other shop stuff too...basic marketing.

    Turret Balance, Holiday Paint Update

Indeed the days of Twins being a viable turret are over. Viable in regards to clearing something like "Finish in the Top Three" mission. It may still have it's uses and some die-hards will keep slogging away with it but my guess is that most Twins users will switch to another turret...Rico or Thunder probably. Twins may be worth using again in a month or so when players stop using Twins protection since there won't be many Twins on the field. For me I'm retiring this account for game play. I've gotten hosed on Twins Alt MU10, Vulcan MU10, and Isida MU10 (Isida is still kinda OK) I will continue to post on the forum but I will battle with my alt account. When Twins comes back into favor or Vulcan or Isida get a buff I will pull this acct out of moth balls. It's a shame since I've played this account almost every single day for over two years, but I'm just discouraged by always maximizing a turret just to see it nerfed into junk.

    Turret Balance, Holiday Paint Update

I didn't notice at first either, but as you play you will see it is a major nerf. You will notice that you kill about half as many tanks in each battle as you did previously...even though everything seems about the same from your driver/shooter persective...your ultimate results are going to go to hell. They reduced the velocity of the projectile so even though they fire at the same rate, they take longer to get to the target...much longer. What happens is that your intended target moves away in a random direction and you can't always anticipate which direction to lead your shots. Even at short range (with alteration) you get killed quicker because fewer shots connect. Twins is not the worst turret now, but it is towards the bottom of the group of turrets. It is so much easier and way less effort to get high scores with Firebird, why bother with trying to get a lame-duck Twins to perform?

    Turret Balance, Holiday Paint Update

I wouldn't bother unless it is just easy for you with spare crystals laying around. Firebird will take a big hit pretty soon as more and more players convert to Firebird. Tanki lets players invest lots of time and even cash into a turret because it is powerful, and then they nerf it into unmitigated junk. I was using Twins and doing well...and that is M2-MU10 with a 50,000 alteration, so expensive (lots of time spent). Previously I used an Isida MU10 but changed because they nerfed it and cut out it's self healing. Then a Vulcan MU10 and they changed the parameters to where it is almost useless on most maps...we can't pick our maps in MM and changing turret in an 8 minute game is almost pointless. So now they thrash Twins into another dust collector. I may go with Firebird myself because it is so OP right now, but I'm not going to bother upgrading it past 5 or 6 unless I get one of those 1,000,000 crystal containers :) I'd be so angry right now if I had paid cash for something like a Taiga kit with a couple of alterations and Tanki did this nerf. At least now I'm just disappointed again by Tanki. If I had spend real money I'd be furious. I just can't imagine why anyone would send these fools real money.

    Turret Balance, Holiday Paint Update

In my alt accounts, I just played a few more battles using Twins/VikingMU10 an a few using Firebird/VikingMU10. I have used Twins since I started playing Tanki and I'm really pertty good with Twins...very good really. Now I am getting about a 1.00 K/D with Twins and 2.00 or better with Firebird. It is almost effortless to kill tanks with Firebird and Firebird is certainly not burdened with much strategy. It takes three times as long to kill a tank with Twins as Firebird. Twins has only a slightly longer range than Firebird now (there is no way they increased Twins range, it's a lie, they decreased it). Even if it had been an increase in range (which it wasn't) the slow projectile makes longer range almost impossible...the target would move after the first hit. The projectile speed is so slow that even at close range tanks can just drive away from the shot and escape or kill the Twins. Twins went from being a great turret to one of the least effective turrets in one pitiful balance change. So all you folks that hated Twins, it's your lucky day/month...you won't be seeing many of them very very soon as Twins users start to switch to something else. Playing Tanki is so discouraging.
  16. So very sad. I didn't know he died; and so young only 28...what a waste. Wake Me Up is a terrific song.

    Turret Balance, Holiday Paint Update

Twins is gutted. The slow projectile makes it difficult to hit anyone even at close range. It seems like when a projectile does hit it makes less impact. Less impact and less hits equals way less effective. I'm pretty good with Twins. Previously I was almost always in the top half of the players in a full length battle. Now I'm consistently in the bottom half...true only one day and maybe I can get used to the slow projectile, but I think Twins is done. They say Twins range was increased...horse pucky. If anything it was decreased. I can shoot a wall and see the shot marks. I pretty much know how far I was able to mark a wall previously. It sure as hell seems to me that I could shoot father before this balance change...if anything they reduced the range by ten or fifteen percent. There is no way it increased. I have spent so much time with Vulcan just to be nerfed to crap. Now so much time with Twins and it is ruined. It seems like Tanki wants everyone to use Firebird...the turret requiring the very least skill.

    Turret Balance, Holiday Paint Update

By arbitrary I mean that these balance changes seem to be random with no real thought put into them...pick a turret, change it...buff it, nerf it, just keep players off balance by changing turret parameters constantly. Like you say, "just experimenting around with stuff". My guess is that the only reason for this is to keep players buying the latest "darling" turret/protection/MUs...it's what Tanki sells. Buff the crap out of Freeze and everyone bought a Freeze, Freeze protection, and respective MUs...many of those players did it with real money. Then nerf Freeze and many of those that jumped on the Freeze-wagon jumped off and went with another turret...more buying. Players that learn the ins and out of a turret have the rug pulled out from under them. I was a Vulcan devotee but the turret was gutted so I started using Isida when it got a buff, then it was nerfed and I started using Twins, now they are fooling around with Twins again. Is the Twins change a buff or nerf? I don't really know yet, but my initial reaction is that it is a nerf...I don't seem to kill as quickly and can't defend myself as well as yesterday. I will have to learn to lead my shots more since they are so much slower, but that is probably just a learning curve. I see no difference in distance effectiveness at all...possibly because my shots never hit a target that is far away since they are moving so slowly.

    Turret Balance, Holiday Paint Update

I wish they would just leave the turrets and hulls alone. Greed, greed, and more greed. Make the damn game fun again and you will get more players...more players equals more cash flow. Quit squeezing the loyal player base you already have. Don't you foolish devs realize how upsetting these constant arbitrary off-balance changes are?

    Star Week begins October 16th

So yet again they completely forget about alterations. Alterations are not on the list of items on sale. And, alterations are not on the list of items that will not be included in the sale. Tanki consistently keeps overlooking alterations when they run promotions. I am pretty sure that alterations have only been included two, possibly three times, this entire year! They just don't pay attention to details at Tanki...too busy figuring out toxic updates to compromise and degrade the game I guess. I also would guess that it is the same dude (or dudette) assigned to generating these "sales" and they copy 'n paste from the last sale instead of proof reading or re-writing the text so the mistake or oversight that was in the previous sale is passed on to the current sale...ad infinitum...no alterations on or off sale. Quotes from Star Week begins October 16: "—25% on items in the Garage. The discount applies to turrets, hulls, modules, paints and supplies." "IMPORTANT: discounts do not apply to drones, batteries, gifts, PRO-Pass, containers, clan license, Rename Pass, special offers in the Shop, and also the smallest packs of crystals, days of Premium and Gold Boxes." ...no mention of alterations in either section. Please remember alterations for the Halloween sale!
  21. I was at a rave-ish dance-party kind of event one time in the mid 90's and they played this song over and over...at least twenty times in five or six hours...I grew to like it a lot. Ya just gotta appreciate the scintillating poetry of the oh so perspicacious lyrics :) "Mary Moon, Mary Moon, Mary Moon, Oh she love me so, she hates to be alone; She don't eat meat but she sure like the bone..."
  22. Another appropriate theme for Tanki: "The thrill is gone The thrill is gone away The thrill is gone Tanki The thrill is gone away You know you done me wrong Tanki And you'll be sorry someday"
  23. Betcha didn't know Musical Youth "Pass the Dutchie" is a cover of The Mighty Diamonds!
  24. Maybe it's the guitar tone and the up-tempo-ness of this song, but it reminds me of updated surf music of the early 60's. This surf song title comes from a surf break on the North Shore of Oahu, Pipeline...really called Banzai Pipeline. The Pipe is not easy to find and is totally hogged up by Locals now (as a newbie, you cannot surf the Pipe without getting major beef). Pipeline is very overcrowded now and true surfer-soup. I tried the 1st reef once when I lived in Hawaii many years ago when it was a bit more user friendly but my skills were not up to the challenge even on a relatively calm day. Only the bad-boys ride the 3rd reef when Kaneloa is pushing out "da big rollas". Banzai Pipeline is a very close shore break so it is easy to watch great riders while lounging on the beach (Banzai Beach...hence the name). I suggest listening to the Chantays play Pipeline as you watch the surf roll in at Banzai Pipeline with the sound on the 2nd video turned off. This is pretty much the view you get from the beach...the creator of the video didn't use much zoom when filming.
  25. I saw these guys play in Sydney Harbor in the mid-80s before they had their biggie international breakout hit. I had been busking with a newly found friend on the Circular Quay and he told me that these Midnight Oil guys were worth seeing. I was game, so we went...bloody brilliant concert!
