From what I see, there are a much higher percentage of buyers than there use to be and, like you say, I think that is because as the freebies leave, it creates a higher percentage of buyers to freebies. Tanki has trained the buyers to fight the buyers with some freebie grapes to sweeten the pot. Previously the buyers paid to slaughter we poor freebies...now they pay to kill each other. Fully MUed kits as soon as they are unlocked, paint bundles, Star events with star passes, choke supply usage, drones that chew through batteries, multiple alterations that can't be tried before purchase,,,and probably more stuff I can't think of right off are all pointing to many many more and bigger buyers. Overall, buyers are more invested in the game. Also they already sent in money previously, so it's easier to do it again...familiarity and all...they are also the kind of person that will spend money on games and pay to get advantage. Like a frog in a frying pan the transition has been slow from mostly freebies with some buyers, to lots of buyers and freebies...we are even wondering about it now. Buyers are OK with killing each other and Tanki is raking in the profit. Freebies are becoming unnecessary...that's why the devs don't give a care...they are catering to the buyer/cash cows.

The Wild Weekend will bring out more players for sure, especially with the Star promotion. I wouldn't doubt it will spike back up to 25K, maybe even a tad more, but then, I think the downward trend will continue. What I honestly believe is that if we had a chart of buyers or, even better, revenue coming into Tanki, I think it would show the opposite trend. I think their cash flow is increasing dramatically...probably way more increase than the player number decrease. Developers...not so much. Marketers...Yeah Boi ! Tanki knows how to turn a buck. :)

Storming the battlefield in support of the new updates... A 25% loss in the number of players logged-on at the peak time each day, in a little over a month...gotta love the new updates :)

Balance changes for Turrets, Alterations and Overdrives
ByeByeBye replied to theFiringHand in News Archive
The problem is that they are not trying to balance the game in the conventional way. They say rebalance and we player assume that they mean re-balance as in make things more equal and, well, balanced. But what the devs actually mean is CHANGE the balance. The game is obviously unbalanced and they continue to unbalance it by favoring one turret over another. Now they are going to start doing the same thing with hulls. It's no mystery why either....MONEY MONEY MONEY. They want to sell the darling turret and hull de jour along with their respective MUs, and protection modules and we dummies keep forking over cash faster and faster as they constantly keep changing the parameters of all the equipment. As long as Tanki keeps players buying they will keep running the buff/nerf cycle (scam) into infinity. The devs don't want the game balanced...they want the game CHANGING. -

Recipe for Exasperating Neo-Tanki Start with turrets and hulls constantly stired and always in flux. Add in several handfuls of continually changing alterations. And top with a sprinkling of fluid drones. What do you get? We don't know. -
I use an M2 Viking 10/10. I haven't played on this account for quite a long time, several months, but I have been playing on a lower ranked account also with Viking. Something just seems wrong. I am getting one shotted by literally every turret out there...and I immediately pop a DA as soon as I spawn in. At my current rank I do have to play against M3/M4 players all the time, but even still my Viking is like paper. I can't stay alive long enough to get a shot off most of the time. I even come up against another Viking M2 and 99% of the time die while he seems to thrive even after killing me. My Viking seems to be very fragil while other Vikings seem to hold up better. Is it drones making the difference?...I don't use one. Viking is not like this in lower ranks...even M2 lower ranks, but at my rank 22 I have a shorter life expectancy than what I wold expect from an M0 Wasp playing against M2 turrets. Anyone else have this problem? Insights? I need some advice and/or help.

Yes, there were always buyers. But now I believe there is a much higher percentage of buyers to freebies. If nothing else just the dramatic drop in player numbers might indicate that the ratio must have changed. The buyers are probably more dedicated to the game since they can still shred AND they already dumped in real cash. The huge player drop is most likely in freebie players. I agree that there are still more freebies than buyers overall, but I also think Tanki has converted many old freebies into buyers. One bit of evidence is the paint they now sell...yikes! ...thousands of paint bundles...for like $30! Players that are buying paint MUST be buying crystals and other shop items, especially kits. The most glaring piece of evidence for more buyers and a much higher percentage of buyers than before is all the fully MUed kits in the lower ranks. Previously, if you weren't a buyer, it was difficult to buy a kit...especially at the rank it unlocked. Now, whatever kit is offered floods the battlefields and many are MUed to the max post-haste. Previously you might see a fully MUed kit occasionally, but now it is pretty much the norm. The higher in-game income allows for more kit purchases by freebies, but I'm pretty sure those paint buyers are picking up a kit or two along with huge crystal bundles. I fully believe Tanki is making WAY more money now than they were a couple years ago. And they are doing it with a fraction of the player numbers. Look at supply consumption now as opposed to a couple of years ago...that alone has to translate into lots more purchases from the shop in supply bundles or crystals. And as long as you are sending in $$$ for supplies or crystals, why not grab a kit or two...and maybe a few hundered thousand crystals just to be on the safe side. I think the hardest part about marketing something like Tanki is getting a player to send in that first bit of cash. After that, it gets much easier to get repeat sales. As much as I hate what the devs have done to Tanki over the last couple of years, I can't really blame them...it's not a service, it's a commodity. Offer a great fun game and make X amount of money or, offer a passable game that makes five times that X amount of money...not a hard choice with a capitalistic mind set. Tanki has done a great job in the last couple of years at converting freebies into buyers and getting previous buyers to dump in lots more money. Sadly it has come at the expense of game-play.

This is actually very helpful. I've never really bothered with GS since it just seemed trivial, but I may try using it in conjunction with your analysis.

These are all great tips and were very effective in the pre-hull-specific-ODs Tanki. But now, with the advent of the new ODs...especially Wasp's bomb, I don't think there is enough time between spawn and death to utilize these tips much. Over a long period of time those oldie players that already have these skills will come out slightly ahead still, but in the current environment, a player that hasn't practiced these already probably won't ever get the chance to employ them much anymore. The constant Star quests don't help either since they change players motivation and therefore they way they think. Tanki has devolved into a rapid pace arcade style game mostly based on luck, where strategy has significantly less to do with the outcome than it did previously.. Nicely written article though...fun, very clear, and easy to read.

Dude! Great minds and all. :) I just took a screen shot of this and was going to post it...you beat me to it :) Here's the Wiki url: They are doing a very good job recently with the Wiki...especially when you consider the constant changes in the game. https://en.tankiwiki.com/Gear_Score
-
Maybe now you have to have some unique skins for your hull and turret, also, probably, the most expensive drone fully MUed and maybe all the alterations...maybe all the drones? Oh, and certainly shot effects. Maybe even a one-off special bundle paint. This is just conjecture of course, I have no real insight.

We all have them...I guess we all have them, I haven't really looked in a long time. Anyway, what do you think of GS? Does it help you in battles? If it does, please post how since I can find no use for it at all....maybe I'm missing something. Tanki says that MM doesn't take GS into account and I think that is true (even though it is coming from Tanki and is therefore very suspect) When GS was introduced at the cost of an actually valuable statistic (MU level) I did some experimenting and tried changing paints and equipment to generate a very low GS. Then I donned my Legendary-Super-Duper-Exotic-Rare-Whatever-Animated paint along with my hull and turret of the highest MUs and got tossed into about the same level of battles...so I think Tanki is actually not lying and GS has nothing to do with determining placement in MM. After messing with GS initially, I've never used it for anything. For me, Gear Score is a bit less pertinent than our Achievements rating...uhhh, I don't know that either :)

It's a totally different game now with almost to relation to the older version that we once played and loved. This new game is entertaining but hard to get serious about...at least for me. I had massive frustration with all the changes until I realized the game I cared about and loved playing was gone forever. Now I am enjoying Neo-Tanki again as a very casual player. I would never send them money or even bother to strategize much on how to spend my freely earned crystals since whatever you buy will be changed. I went through the Vulcan nerf too but as an M2. Then I went with Isida M2 until it was nerfed into garbage (it has made a come back now as an offensive mele turret). Then I MUed Twins to 10/10 when I couldn't compete with Vulcan10/10 or Isida10/10. Somewhere in here they also reversed the attributes of Viking and Hunter, so my Viking10/10 started sliding around and getting knocked about like a paper-doll. After they gutted Twins by slowing the firing rate to snail's pace...i quit. I used this account again for the first time in several months thinking a ProPass might solve my problem with MM, but it is very difficult to find a decent Pro Battle since they are incredibly and horribly disorganized. Tanki doesn't want us playing ProBattles because it drains the MM pool...so they make it as difficult as they possibly can (maybe I'm just a cynic). When you do find a suitable ProBattle they tend to be a real time commitment...like one or two hours. So ProBattles are not the way to go for me either. I find this new game loses it's fun just around or a bit above your current rank, rank13. I enjoy Neo-Tanki from Recruit through around ranks14 or 15 just before M2. I guess I will never experience a Legend battle...probably little loss. So my advice is to start a new account, give Neo-Tanki a chance as a newly discovered game and don't compare it to the previous version of Tanki that was totally engaging an really fun...take what we have and enjoy it as much as it can be enjoyed.

I hate to be a stickler, but you can't create a MM battle with a pro pass...you can only create a pro battle on an MM map...and you say this in the text, but your headline says that you can create an MM battle. ...not really clear Why not delete this heading and text...but use the image from it, to replace the image under the heading "Creating Pro Battles"? Delete: Creating MM Battles You are eligible to create any of the Matchmaking maps as PRO Battle. You can choose from 6 different gamne modes. Alter: Creating PRO Battles use this: https://en.tankiwiki.com/images/en/thumb/9/9e/CreateMMbattle.png/400px-CreateMMbattle.png (this image shows all six modes) to replace this: https://en.tankiwiki.com/images/en/thumb/f/f6/Createbattle4.png/400px-Createbattle4.png (this image shows only four modes) If you wanted to go further, you could change the seventh bullet point from "A" to something like "B" A Battle Mode - DM, TDM, CTF, CP, RGB, ASL. (battles with the mode JGR can not be created by players and can only be found in Matchmaking battles) B Battle Mode - DM, TDM, CTF, CP can be created on any map. RGB and ASL can only be created on maps designated as MM. (JGR mode can not be created by players and can only be found in Matchmaking battles) or: B Battle Mode - DM, TDM, CTF, CP can be created on any map. RGB and ASL can only be created on Matchmaking maps - MM (JGR mode can not be created by players and can only be found in Matchmaking battles)

I think the Wiki should reflect how all six modes can be created. At the very least change the picture guys :) Attached is the same size PNG the Wiki is currently using (400 x 650). https://en.tankiwiki.com/PRO_Battles

Between the reduction in Wasp's recharge time for it's bomb and Hunter's 1 second delay, it is almost impossible to deactivate a Wasp bomb with Hunter. It has to almost be a coincidence that you active Hunter's OD the moment someone plants a bomb. If using Hunter's OD to actually try and combat Wasp's bomb, all you end up doing is wasting an OD, so eventually you don't even try to stop them, you just roll over and die like everyone else. Wasp's count starts as the bomb is planted so it is impossible to get closer than .50 to even see the bomb. It takes some time to see if the bomb is red or green (if you bother) and it takes time to react and activate Hunter's OD (when dealing in fractions of seconds, actually moving your finger and pressing a button is a long long process). Then you have the enormous full 1 second wait for Hunter's OD to warm up. If there is a nano second of lag, the party is over. I can't time it since it would have to be analyzed from slow motion video, but I bet there is no more than a quarter to a half a second sweet spot in which to nullify Wasp's bomb...and that is if it is planted right in front of you and you see it the very nano second it appears on screen. I know the devs love Wasp's bomb because of all the supplies it nullifies (you use an RP to get DA, DD, and S all activated at the same time and first guy you kill plants a bomb) With so many Wasps and such a short recharge time, I bet Wasp's OD alone has doubled the amount of DD used since the inception of the new ODs. Wasp's bomb needs some sort of real counter and Hunter's OD can't rise to the task. The fix for this is to get rid of Hunter's one second delay. I can't really see why this disability was instituted in the first place.

I updated the list and added a spiffy bit of glitz (OK, I think so anyway) for the Ubers. Leave a "like" on the first post (the list post)...if you like the list or the new artwork of course. Quite a few new finds...even one or two in the Top 20 and lots of movement within the list and Honorable Mentions. Cheers

I don't think it matters too much. In fact, if you decide X is the perfect hull for you, you are doomed for disappointment when X hulls parameters are changed around to sell more hulls/MUs. I am very hesitant to dump any crystals into anything since whatever I buy will be changed...probably pretty soon too. I expect the 2nd round of "hull balances cough" in a few weeks...just before or just after Tanki's birthday. My strategy is to just wait it out and make do with what I have...it's not what I would pick at this point in time, but it is too expensive to replace and MU to the same level. The Buyers will buy what ever hull they like, Tanki will do a nerf, an the Buyers will buy a different darling hull with MUs. The Freebies must be much more careful and see what shakes out. My guess is that Wasp or Titian will be on the chopping block first. One thing is for sure this is very little like the Tanki of old. This is a totally different tank game. Remember so much diversity in battles and so many choices of how to play? Remember teamwork, real comradeship, or even dialog? What we are left with is an OK game, but it is nothing by comparison...sigh.

Good idea...done...thanks

OK, thanks. I think that should go in the Wiki.

How do you create ASL and RGB matches as Pro Battles? The Wiki says you can, but I can't find any way to access them. The Wiki specifically says you can't start a JGR, but lists ASL and RGB along with DM, TDM, CTF, and CP. https://en.tankiwiki.com/PRO_Battles "Battle Mode - DM, TDM, CTF, CP, RGB, ASL. (battles with the mode JGR can not be created by players and can only be found in Matchmaking battles)"

Since almost all these Legends are active (very active) they switch places all the time and rank-up frequently. I have been updating once or twice a day. At some point, I will only update once a week since it takes quite a bit of time. I could kill off the L60-L69 group of Legends to make it a smaller workload, but L60+ is still so massive :) Anyway, thanks for the heads up. CHELYABINSK_LR Legend 92 has taken his rightful place at #20...at least until Vicelard plays tomorrow :)
-
Thanks...a real trove of Legends. I'll have them up in a jiffy. What is this site that you sent me too? Do they register for it or is it automatic for the Russian players? What's a tank crew (pertaining to this site)?
-
OK...I see it now. Rather odd punctuation...not really incorrect, but not very clear. I guess the font spacing got me, or maybe I was just spacing :) Thanks.
