There is no match making with MatchMaking. It is noting more than the "Battle Button" being pressed for you ...except you now have a long wait for the random battle. Teams are not matched by any discernible criteria, hell, the Battle Button did a BETTER job of matchmaking since there were at least set rank brackets (out of kilter though they might have been). There is no balance...I've been in battles with 18 rank differences. You constantly get sent to the losing team after along queue wait to face a team comprised of ranks much higher than you already ahead with only a minute or two left to play. This so called MatchMaking is getting old real fast. It has to be the most idiotic thing the devs have done to the game so far ...and that is saying something since they have compromised the game so badly already. I am just disgusted with this entire farce.

You might consider reading an entire post before you spew. I will say it again...playing Pro-Battles only is not a real option unless you are a buyer (one who buys crystals and gear from the shop) because you need to do missions and complete mission chains in order to to generate income. If you don't generate income you can not be competitive (you can't upgrade/acquire equipment). So either buyer or do missions/chain. Do you understand now? ..not hard

I really like the new protection module system. I suggested this right after the paint separation. It's great and I think it will sell more modules because different single modules are more useful now...much easier to change within a battle. I never bothered with modules before. Activate one and forget it. Now I can see what I think I need, visit the garage, and change the module. Too bad it's in just a 10 minute game...15 would have been much better. Anyway, at my rank and my alt account, I hardly lost anything. I must say that it is kind of unfair that if you had two or three of the same protection and at the same MU level, you didn't get any compensation...just the one module. Oh well it's OK for me. I do sympathize with the Legends and others that had choke modules and now have batteries...I'd be angry for sure. I forgot...MM still stinks...awful, even if it works better than when it was first released...just garbage.

I seem to have a glitch in my forum account. My "content" section doesn't refresh itself. It has been stuck since Feb 2018 showing the same post nd same topic from that period. I would like to have my most current posts listed because it makes finding where I left off much easier. I have tried descending, ascending, and all the other options given. I can find no preference that might affect the problem...I need a forum mechanic.
-
Shoulda bought bunches of single modules previously...oh well
-
I was thinking the same thing, but maybe something really wild like the protection module against Twins might be called Twins-P. Or like Thunder-P Too easy and too simple I guess.

I think the drones are kind of a non-issue at this point. It may be only buyers will have and use them....too expensive for us mere freebie mortals. Tanki used to be like that and I thought it was fine....buyers who support the game should be able to slaughter us free players...they pay for the privilege. Of course, I wish we could revert the game to a previous incarnation, but at least drones don't seem as ominous as they sounded....time will tell though.

I just played a few battles. They are all the same. There are only a few scenarios throughout all the modes. 1. You are towards the higher ranking players and slaughter the weak. 2. You are towards the bottom ranking players and get slaughtered by the strong. 3. Your team starts to bail and you lose the match. 4. Their team starts to bail and you win the match. 5. Both teams are strong and evenly matched and it's an intense few minutes with no known outcome. 6. You get squirted into a match on the losing team (I have never been put into the winning side) of a partial match and your team loses. There is almost no variation on these six scenarios...over and over and over. And, on the same old tired maps that have all been compromised and homogenized for MM. You don't make any kind of connection with your teammates. Team effort is almost non-existent. It's just hack and bash until the game ends and it's back to the queue for another wait to do the same thing all over again. The tedium and boredom factor is much much greater with MM than previously when you could choose battles and teammates/opponents. Tanki is becoming boring and stale.
-
The group function is making battles very one sided. A clan comes in and totally dominates...they drug to max and are organized against a bunch of random players of all rank brackets. MM gave lip service to balancing battles then devs put in something patently unbalancing like "group" ...how can they be sooooo brainless?

ThirdOnion (great name incidentally) keeps saying how he doesn't see as many blowouts. Maybe in the upper ranks that is true, but down here with the lowly, it is almost always a blowout due to players leaving a game and MM squirting in new meat for the grinder. I get tossed into blowout games on the losing side way more than getting to start a new game. Then, even when I do get into a new fresh battle, because I have no choice or control in terms of team, I have a 50% chance that even that new battle will turn into a blowout. I see more blowouts with MM than the battle list. The difference is that the battle list blowouts usually ended in a few minutes whereas MM keeps the losers supplied with unhappy, unmotivated players...they know they are going to lose when half the game is finished and they are getting trounced score wise. I have never lost as much as I do with MM...that is one of the reasons I don't like MM AT ALL. I like winning...I play to win and with MM, I lose more than I win...because of the problem of being pushed into a half finished, sure lose game or rank brackets being too wide. MatchMaking STINKS and can NEVER be fixed. We either endure it and try to get some fun out of it or quit. The numbers of player in August will tell the tale...that is if Tanki doesn't take that "Players on Line' down. If they do that means MM is a bigger bit of butchery than even we thought. What's a one off single game? A pro battle? i don't get it? All the battles are 8 vs 8 now.

Someone keeps complaining about box missions...I'm not sure who. Anyway, the box missions are just as fair as any other mission since each side could and most likely will have box hunters...parity. It's kinda the same with people with xp missions...they go for kills, not necessarily the flag caps, goals or even points...kills count makes their mission. Crystal mission folk tend to go for the cap, goals, points and let the rest of the team fight the hoards. Basically all the missions can impact the game-play adversely. At least the box missions can sometimes be done quickly or through the course of several games. Keep 'em...box missions are OK.

Removing all choice from the game and homogenizing all game play has made Tanki repetitive and moving towards boring. You are right, MM will not be taken away because of the "Damn the Torpedos, FULL SPEED AHEAD" attitude of the devs and actual administration (I still can't believe the money people let ponytail boy get away with this farce) That is why the devs ARE stupid...or possibly just mesmerized by the erroneous prediction of an increase in profits brought about by MM. The fact is the game has been compromised by MM and is not as much fun to play...it can be played, and maybe even some fun gleaned from playing, but it is not nearly as much fun as it was. This is the real issue for players...it isn't as much fun as it was. As far a the benefits that MM brings: there are NONE...ZERO...NADA! The restructuring of the battle reward is completely separate and could have easily been implement in the old system. The shifty devs just released it to coincide with MM to take some of the horror and sting out of MM. As far as disadvantages go the biggest is loss of all control and choice....this was one of the very best things about Tanki...you could create battles, fiddle around with the battle criteria, choose from many many different and unique maps, join an ongoing battle on either winning or losing team, choose rank brackets even with the battle list, choose the duration of battle (sometimes you need to pick up those 2 crystals), choose the people you played with and against (at least by name), and other choices too. MM has taken that away 100%...and you are right we will NEVER get it back. That's why players are outraged, sad, angry, and scores of pages of complaint are being drafted. MM is AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL. We can still play it and most probably will...it has gotten better since it was released...but MM is still AWFUL and can not be fixed...it can only be endured.

I am amazed at human resiliency and what people will put up with. Tanki trashed the game with over a years worth of crap updates and then the final horror, MatchMaking. After less than a week many posters on the forum and this thread are starting to be mollified and warming to MatchMaking. The fact is MatchMaking is garbage. It is the only way we can play Tanki and complete missions to generate sufficient income to keep playing Tanki (or send in $ to only play in ProBattles). So, we have to deal with it, but that doesn't mean we necessarily need to like it. MatchMaking is an terribly inferior system and will always be an inferior system only put in place to manipulate us. I will continue to play (not as much or as often), but that does not mean I approve of MM. I deal with MM because there is no other choice other than leaving Tanki completely. MM has removed almost all choice from Tanki.
-
I applaud his idea and truly hope devs will take note and implement it. Tanki did a wonderful thing by unchaining us from the mission chain, now take it a step further and think of ways to make missions easier and more pleasant to play but still require players to engage in standard battles exactly like your idea: complete a battle in CTF, or play 10 minutes in CP, etc.
-
Here's an idea that might take hold. I pledge $200 US if Tanki gets rid of MatchMaking. Let's all put our money where our hearts are...offer Tanki CASH to repeal this detestable abortion of a downgrade; MatchMaking. It's not a bad idea really...you get crystals or whatever, Tanki gets income and we get our game back!
-
Sure, they could make it shorter...almost instantaneous, but then people would leave battles more often because they could join a different battle in a heartbeat. The long wait is engineered into MM to coerce players into staying for duration of a whole battle. It's part of Tanki's plan to "help" us play the game. 12 minutes is a long time. After a couple or three minutes, I just exit and try again. But the 1 or 2 minute wait will never go away.
-
Didn't even bother to log into today...I might later, but I think maybe Tanki is on the way out for me anyway. Before MM, that would have been almost unthinkable.
-
Too bad Tanki won't roll back MatchMaking for their birthday...THAT would be cause to celebrate indeed! Woopie!
-
This used to be the way it went, but kits are now always the same already discounted price.
-
It is Tanki's birthday and it is a perfect sale plus an entire week of double battle funds which is very generous, but it still feels like a funeral to me. I am so bummed about MatchMaking. MM is every bit as terrible as I thought it would be. It's hard to be happy for your game when your game has been trashed by ill-conceived poorly executed updates. It saddens me to think I will never be able to play Tanki the way I want to again. :(
-
How and why would anyone spend real money on this game at this point? This has got to take a major toll on Tanki's income for June which in turn will probably trash the entire 2nd quarter for them. If I had spent money in the past, I'd be furious right now....hell, I'm really angry and frustrated just because of all the time I wasted on this game just to have it ruined like it is now. I'm pretty sure most people want what they pay for...and brother, this iteration of Tanki ain't even close to what they thought they were buying. I've been playing on and off since MM even though I said I was taking a holiday...I kinda want to see if and when some of the bugs get worked out. The problem I see though is the game really isn't fun anymore. It's just boring and repetitive...well, that is when you are not waiting in queue which is reallly boring. It's no fun getting put into the last minute or two of a battle after waiting in queue...just to have to do it all over again. It's no fun getting slaughtered by outrageously higher ranks. It's no fun getting tossed in on the losing team. I play games to win. I like winning. Previously I picked battles where I thought I could win. I don't wanna lose...it isn't fun. Between rank brackets, and MM tossing me in on the losing team, I lose WAY more than win now...this is not fun. Who in their right mind is going to spend money to lose? Even if you are a whale buyer, you will still get games where you are in the lowest ranks and you will still get put with the losing team. Are the money people at Tanki awake? Can't they see that this is a poor course? Do they think mobile users will make up for the revenue loss?...the mobile users will lose games more than win too. All business is based on supplying a good product. In game terms, this means a FUN product. Developers need to make Tanki fun, not force people to dance to some fools misconceived ideas. Tanki addiction will only go so far and people will eventually stop playing altogether if the game is more frustrating than fun. I think even if you fix the long waits in queue, get the rank brackets in line, optimize the reward system, fix the group/friends problem, adjust mission to interface with MM better, and repair a bunch of other stuff that I haven't thought of for this post....you are still left with a boring, bland and homogenized ghost of the former Tanki. Comradery and team bonding are gone, so the community will ultimately fail (if Tanki stays afloat long enough). New players are not going to like this garbage any better than old players so I doubt player base will get much new blood....the mobile player will just be PC players on their phones. Overall, I think Tanki has really stuck their foot in it this time.

I just played an ASL on Kungur with an alt account. My blue team got slaughtered. Most of the ranks on my team were WO (ranks12-15) Red team had three more players than us and ranked as high as General (rank 26) with most of the players in the 22+ ranks. That is 14 ranks higher than me. WO2 (rank12) vs General (rank26) ...where is Matchmaking's balance? Uneven team numbers and woefully mismatched rank brackets ...a monkey could have picked a better battle from the battle list without the time wasted in queue. Actually, I guess this battle couldn't have existed in the previous system because the ridiculously wide rank brackets.
-
MatchMaking is a vastly inferior battle placement system compared to the previous system. MM is fundamentally flawed, devoid of all choice or control, a time waster, and undermines the quality and enjoyment of all battles and the game overall. But, we will play it because it is our ONLY option other than ending our association with Tanki. Because we continue to play Tanki, does not in any remote way indicate that MM is good or desirable in any respect. We are just stuck with it and like any physical disability, we will learn to live with and maybe even thrive...not because of it but in spite of it.
-
Nah...too much negativity already. They will say, "We have heard your feedback and take you suggestions and feedback very seriously. Like any major release of this magnitude, Matchmaking's launch had some problems and are working to quickly improve the system. The concept of MM is perfect but we need to make some adjustments to give you, our valued players, the best playing experience possible...blah blah blah" This translates into, "Hey, we messed up but it doesn't matter because if you want to play our game you have to do it our way. But we will try some band-aids here and there over the course of the next few weeks, so shut up and make do with what force upon you."
-
So you actually think this MM system (with a few adjustment tweaks) is better than what we had? I too can deal with MM, but that doesn't mean I like it or think it is an improvement. To me it is just another obstetrical that Tanki has put in the way of the game and will certainly cut the fun quotient once again...but that is just me (well and a bunch more folks based on this thread). So let's be clear...Do you think MM is an improvement over the older system (given a few tweaks here and there...it new so needs adjustment)? I do not...I think MM is a real downgrade and will impact the player base dramatically over the next few weeks. And I agree everyone is entitled to their opinion..of course.
