The long waits between battles have a purpose. There is no reason for such long waits but the pillocks who created MM know that many players will stay in battle rather than leave a losing team when faced with the prospect of another long wait to join a different battle. The long waits in queue are just a tactic used on players by manipulative devs to coercively motivate players to stay the course of battles. Long waits will not go away or "get fixed". Increase the losing teams payout, shorten battle duration so the pain isn't so great, and long waits in queue all to motivate players to stay and complete each battle. MM is awful and will always be awful whether we get used to it, can work around it's disadvantages, or just swallow what Tanki feeds us.

It is patently obvious that devs do not want a better game...at least in terms of player enjoyment. They want a game that they HOPE in the future will generate more revenue via new mobile players...lotza luck with that Tanki. The only reason they can get away with this is there is no other choice for players other than just quitting. MM sucks and always will suck whether we get used to it or not. You can function perfectly well with one arm, one eye, no teeth, and four toes missing, but that doesn't mean it is good. We can play Tanki, but MM is AWFUL and that can not get fixed.

I just purged with a little monopoly rant...now my real rant. I just played two CP games with an alt account. The first game took about 4 minutes to enter and I got top score on the winning team...149 crystals. I needed 150 crystals for a mission, so back in again for another long wait in queue which seems just so wrong since I was freshly out of a CP match...why wouldn't I just go right back in, surely someone else tried to get back into CP right away. Anyway this time it was a six minute wait to enter a game. I had to go through an entire 10 minute game for 1 more crystal. More than half an hour for one previously simple mission. Things like this happen, but inconvenience and frustration are increased exponentially with MM. MM is just crap.

This is what monopoly does. Where else can we go to play Tanki or even something like Tanki? So they can do anything they like to us because we like the game. If they had ANY competition, TankiOnline would be dead in a week or they would change their abusive arrogant forced game changes and give players what they want instead of forcing us to endure their vision of the game. At this point our only option is to eat the vomit sandwich they gave us or starve...stop playing. I'm already sure that very few players will be sending in real money...at least in the short term. What is sad is I can see sheepy players start to roll over and say that MM isn't too bad. Yes it is..we just have no choice...play it or don't play Tanki. MM isn't good. MM isn't nearly as much fun as the previous iteration of Tanki. Most players don't want MM...which doesn't matter because they have a monopoly.

I couldn't resist and I couldn't get into a battle...idle hands and all :)

Latin players are getting the same thing...maybe a bit worse since this is peak play time. I actually got into a DM battle about 5 minutes after i took this screen shot. So about 36 minutes in queue to join a DM battle.

I'm not so sure about that. I just played a little more than half a CP on forest and the opposing side had three tanks just sitting and they never moved. We won of course thanks to these passive players. If it looks like a mult, sits stationary like a mult, makes no score like a mult, and doesn't exit the game like a mult,...it's pretty much a mult. Based on this experience, I would say another big FAIL for MM. Time will tell if mults are dealt with, but I think some players have already figured out a way to circumvent the system...and "no mults" was about the only real benefit the devs could come up with for MM.

There are almost 20000 people online right now (hummmm, a little short aye?) Why should it take five minutes to join a CTF battle? It has to be close to impossible for there to not be enough players in queue to form a new battle or for players to leave an ongoing battle in that amount of time. This is a ridiculous update with ridiculous implementation.

I inquired about buying a private server already and they answered with a very polite and even sympathetic, NO. I have been looking for an internet opportunity and I certainly see a tremendous opportunity here but, from what I can tell, a corp or person would have to buy the whole kit and kaboodle...from Russia. My attorney says this type of transaction would be a real can of worms and he can't even find out if AlternativaPlatform is interested in selling. I have an interested partner and we have the financial wherewithal, but at this point Tanki seems to be "Damn the torpedos...FULL SPEED AHEAD!"

Remove MatchMaking or make it possible to complete missions in ProBattles again. MatchMaking and the updates to facilitate MM have homogenized the game and made it repetitive, tedious, and boring. It is bad now but a few weeks of MM, even if all the bugs get worked out, the boredom of very similar battles across all modes will certainly make me stop playing and my bet is another 10000 or so players will also quit. How many mobile players does Tanki expect? ...enough to make up for the impending loss of player base? ...doubtful. Expect to see 15000 to 18000 players at peak times by August 2018...sooner if the bugs don't get fixed quickly.

OK, Tanki needs MM for mobile...fine if that is the rationalization. Keep this awful MM to attract the mobile market. But here is a VERY EASY SOLUTION to most to the woes voiced in this thread so far. Let us go back to being able to complete missions in Pro-Battles. Perfect, easy fix...mobile gets the MM feature, Tanki sells lots of Pro-Passes, and players can choose to use the MM mechanic or create their own battles on maps of their choosing. Oh wait, NOBODY would EVER use MM if they could make their own battles....that speaks VOLUMES on how good and effective MatchMaking actually is. The ONLY way people will use MM is if they are coerced into using MM. Any thoughts on this? Feasible? It really would work and make Tanki very enjoyable again instead of this trash we have now.

Anyway, I'm taking a Tanki holiday. I will still probably look in on this forum to read the horror stories. I've played off and on since the update this morning with this account and a couple of alt accounts. In one account it took my over an hour to collect seven double damage boxes...and I was concentrating on boxes! Not fun but totally frustrating. To finish in the top 3 you need luck to get sent to the winning team and luck to get sent to the beginning of a battle and you need luck to be in the higher rank brackets...then lotsa drugs gets you to the top...this took a VERY LONG TIME. In a crystal mission I missed the mark by 2 crystals...back in queue and another 10 minute battle (this would have been a great time to get sent to a battle on the losing side with 3 minutes left, but no...I got a full ten minutes for 2 crys. At least Tanki did something right by breaking the Mission Chain chain. Since our Mission Chain will stay intact, I intend to give MM a few days to settle in and get some of the bugs worked out before I log back in and try to play again. If today is any indication of what MM will actually be, I don't think I'll be playing much...now and then maybe, but certainly not every day like I do now. If this is really MM and not just MM in the throes of birth, Tanki just shot itself in the foot. I said 15000 to 18000 players by August...I'd like to up that to mid-June if MM doesn't get much better...quickly.

MrCheezyPotato vs GuidoFawkes now there is a troll match! I bet they can milk this spat for at least 20 or 30 more posts.

...the sun came out and shone across the snow capped peaks with a remarkable beauty, and everything was wonderful all the time. We lived happily ever after in our own special nirvana..even the sycophants. Gosh, gee-wilikers, isn't MatchMaking GRAND!

Really? ughhhh, press the button that says "Battle" ....find it at the top, in the middle of the screen. This will take you to the mode menu...now press "Quick Battle" or DM, TDM, etc In a couple of minutes MM will place you in a random battle.
-
Thank you...thank you so much for a candid response. Respect. I get so tired of hearing the smarmy driveling party line from mods...I will always pay way more attention and take what you say more seriously from now on, just from this one honest post. Refreshing to say the least.

So throw the baby out with the bath water. For the sake of a few mobile users Tanki does this horror to the game. My guess is that less than 5 out of 100 players will actually like MM...maybe even less than 5. If this forum is any kind of indication at all. I know that so far, MM is all I thought it would be...just absolutely awful. So many of the things that made Tanki fun are ruined with MM or changes made to facilitate MM. I think there is going to be a huge loss of player base from this misguided MM update.

Ode to MatchMaking waiting in queue, waiting in queue, waiting in queue, what'll we do while waiting in queue? waiting in queue, waiting in queue, waiting in queue, don't know 'bout you but I'm sick of waiting in queue waiting in queue, waiting in queue, waiting in queue...
-
I would like to try MatchMaking in the hopes that it might possibly be playable, but I haven't been able to get into a battle since the restart...It just sits there with the "loading" graphic running and running and running. Just after restart I could at least get into the lobby and garage, now I can't even do that much.
-
It will never get that low...the game would fold way before that. 15000 to 18000 in peak hours is my guess and that will take a couple of months when players start to get frustrated with the tedium. I would make a guess that less than 5K or 6K players and Tanki is offline. And when you had 100,000 just a couple of years ago, I don't think even the misguided developers could do anything to make the player count go below 5000.
-
My guess is that the wait in queue for another battle will be the biggest deterrent from leaving a battle. So when you get plopped into Massacre with your tank combo of choice, you will either eat it big time, take the time to change your combo in garage, or leave the battle to wait in queue again. My guess is most players will end up choosing to change equipment. Sadly the days when you could choose a map that suited your favorite equipment are OVER...buy more equipment combos (hummmm, could this be Tanki's real reason for MM?) You will play where MM sends you, or you will spend you life waiting in queue...or you will just ditch Tanki as a serious game and let it become a diversion game like solitaire or Agar.io. So very sad.
-
Sadly this is not going to be the case...Tanki has said that rank brackets, even effectiveness rating are not what will make a "balanced" battle. To them a battle is balanced if there is an equivalency on each side. In other words, that M1 playing with M3s will be fine as long as there is another M1 on the opposing team. This may not be too obvious in peak play times and the rank brackets may actually be fairly close, but in off hours, the "balance" situation promises to completely ruin the game for non-peak hour players.
