Episode 108 of the V-LOG is here

Don't worry you got your wish with Smokey. Crits hits after the patch will do significant damage only at long range. By this I mean at short range a critical will do only slightly more damage than a normal hit. And any rail jockey should beat beat smokey in a long-range exchange.

Probably just so they can use round numbers instead of decimals in the stats listings.

Episode 108 of the V-LOG is here

Many people have asked about the impact this will have on kits. These questions sparked a very very important question of my own. I hope we get an official answer to it. Will ALL the kits be available for purchase during the post-change sale? That is, will the "rotation" be suspended so every account can buy the kit it needs at the sale price? If the ridiculous "rotation" scheme is in effect then only the accounts lucky enough to have their rotation up will be able to buy their desired kit at the sale price. Other accounts will be screwed, through no fault of their own. Worse, if the silly and customer-annoying "rotation" system continues after the re-balancing, then some unlucky accounts will have to wait the better part of a month to buy the kit they need to buy to react to this re-balancing. So some accounts can adjust quickly and be on their way. But for some reason a massive amount of accounts will have to put up with their unwanted tanks just because of bad luck. That's just stupid marketing. Piss off tho-thirds of your customers over some weird arbitrary restriction - instead of making them happy and in a spending mood? Why? I hope all kits, turrets, hulls, and protections will be on sale for at least a week after the re-balancing. Let's hope this concept is relayed to actual decision-makers behind Tanki. Thank you.

Well, one way to look at this re-balancing is that there will probably be a hull/turret combo that's fun to play. So I thank Tanki for the advance notice. This lets me save the Cry I would have spent on a kit - only to have that particular combination re-engineered only a couple weeks after. So I want to say good job on the advance warning. Do not be afraid to give even further warning next time.

If you are going to buy something before the update a couple phrases come to mind. Caveat emptor.
  6. O agree entirely. What concerns me is the sense of no real plan. Tanki is just throwing everything at the wall and hoping something sticks. As a result they are competing with themselves for the same gamer dollar. Now you can buy all sorts of things for cash and for crystals. But you can also buy crytals for cash. Then ther are things like double crytal cards and sales that add to the shopper's bargain-shopping efforts. But all this is taking place during a time when they are introducing alterations, changing the amount of supplies use, and announcing a massive re-balalncing. This uncertainty puts a chilling effect on doing business with this company. A confusing shopping situation is made worse because now you dont know what you are buying. The more I think about it, the wiser it seems to buy absolutely nothing until after this new patch settles out.

The trouble is, all those data were collected from players massively-overplaying on the tank slaughterhouse maps. So now the game is being fine-tuned to play on those maps not the actually fun maps.

Mid-October. Thank you, most sincerely. That tells me not to spend a single Crystal (or U$ Dollar) between now and then. They will be needed to re-buy everything I now own since I have no faith the Viking/Smokey combo will remain fun to play. PLEASE take steps to make this target date widely known. (The date is not guaranteed - understood)

They basically did. We now have Thunkey ---- Smokey and Thunder are almost the same weapon now. One just shoots a bit faster doing a bit less damage per shot. Zzzzz. Snore.

WE do not need new maps, we need the game to reward plZAyers for playing on maps besides Polygon, Island, Noise and a couple other vastly-overused, tank-slaughterhouse maps.

You cannot stop it so your only choice is hope you like that game after the changes. So I almost agree with your comment. Go with it OR move on (ie find another game).

    Alterations, Kits and Supplies Kits!

I agree on that narrow point. But the facts remain: There is no inherent reason these power-ups have to be in the game. They are ruining the game. So why do they continue to exist?

    Alterations, Kits and Supplies Kits!

I'm posting this while my alt is sitting on a 5 minute pause. Why? Becayse its a better use of my time than competing in yet another battle dominated by non-stop druggers. Maybe Tanki should do something about REDUCING drug use. eh?

That's the conclusion I've reached too. Just play daily missions and log out. Build up Cry to buy whatever they didn't FUBAR in this change. Then decide if the game is still worth it or not. Unfortunately, as compared to other online gaming companies I've used Team Tanki seems like a bunch of, well, n00bs. I don't think they know what they are doing.
  15. Agreed. The same relative capabilities exist, more or less, But they exist on opposite hulls. The more I think about this change, the ,more I am deciding to play this game less often. I would have spent 200k on a m2 kit except for that bug yesterday ... now I am not going to spend a single Cry until after this change happens. Which means I have no incentive to level up or to do much more than anything but complete 1 mission / day just to keep the weekly benefit coming in. Then after the change I decide to keep playng or not ... if I am even interested in Tanki at that point. Is that the goal the company really wants?

    Let's Discuss Smoky!

The difference is the new crit damage is only a bit more than the max damage at short range. The DPS benefit of landing a crit in the range most fighting takes place has just been dramatically reduced. What I am saying is, Smokey shake hands with Mister Nerf.

Episode 108 of the V-LOG is here

I just realized something that gives me little hope for this game after this change. The main problem with this game is not the differences between turrets and hulls. The main problem is the way this game rewards exp and Cry, plus the huge Cry price for everything but m0 gear. This leads to the huge number of game played on the Polygon, Noise and a couple other maps. These maps are no strategy tanks slaughterhouses. Tanks spawn kill and die several time per minute. The result is a high Cry payout compared t other maps, where actual game play might occur. I just now played a 15 minute CTF game on Rio. I and a K/D ratio of something like 20k : 12d. I earned 24 Cry that is twenty-four, for 15 minutes because my team got beat in a game with few successful steals. It was a good game from a battle POV, but the Cry payout was abysmal. At that rate I am playing 10,000 hours to earn 100,000Cry ... half the price of the kit I (was) planning to buy. OR I can play CP battle on Poly over and over and over again, because I might earn over 1,000 Cry / hour there. Ten time the payout and more. So that's what players do. The go for the best payouts. Which is why well more than 50% of all games are played on these few maps. Which means all that player data you have collected is dominated by the player-hours spent on these few slaughterhouse maps. Congratulations. You are re-optimizing your tank characteristics to balance battle on these mindless repetitive maps. The game play effect on REAL maps where REAL fire and maneuver are important - all that is left to chance. This is called putting a band-aid on an amputation. FIX the root cause of all these woes: Tanki's dismal, dismal economic / rewards system.

Also a short word about Tanki supplies use policy. We are being told Tanki desires to reduce supply use in battles. Every change made so far points to increased supply use. Cheap 1500 item kits. Now less significance to the 'smart supply' system. An 11% reduction in duration. If Tank wants to reduce supplies use the solution is to weaken their effect. There is no inherent reason they have to be in the game. Anyway, I've been a customer of many a game company as have most of my fellow gamers. We know when we are getting straight talk and when we are being fed a line of stuff. The disconnect between Tanki's stated policy and their nuts-and-bolts changes in the game do not inspire confidence.

Well, there is no question but my particular combination will no longer play like it used to. Will I enjoy it ore, or less? Impossible to tell, but I don't think I would bet money on "like it more". Viking is losing a lot of its characteristices. Acceleration is what you need when fighting out of cover. Weight is coming down a lot. Speed is up. It's turning into a heavy Hornet. At the same time Smokey is being changed dramatically. It is being made more damaging at short range and that is a boost. But top range is cut dramatically as is critical hit damage. In fact a critical hit as short rage does not much more damage than a regular hit. Since most fighting will be done at shorter ranges this means critical hits are much less important to real DPS. Gosh, and at the same time Smokey users are offered an alteration to increase impact force in exchange for those crits. So that is a bit more useful a tradeoff for 50,000 Cr. But all the hull weights are being changed dramatically. No one will know if this impact effect will be significant in game play. And any rentals before the change will not be valid for after the change. Add hull and turret together and it is unlikely I will find myself equipped to thrive in the roles I have today. So bottom line I have two general courses of action. I can pususe Viking/Smokey and hope after the change I like the combo even better. All these changes must be seen in context with one another. Or do I just not buy anything until after the update. Just play Tanki for the daily missions and log out. Save every Cry for the post-change sale? Then I can react to the new conditions and buy the hull/turret combo I will like post-change. This option means I play Tanki less and grow distant from it. Answering that question will depend on the time frame. So we do not need a specific date, but we players need to know a ballpark goal. One month? End of the year? We players need some guideline. thank you.

This is less protection than before not more. Both armor and damage were mutliplies by 10. That is, the value just shifted a decimal place. Old 405 = new 4050.

It is a bigger slower Smokey now. Don't know if there will be much play difference between the two. Merge em into one Thunkey.

Episode 108 of the V-LOG is here

From my first and incomplete look at teh hulls changes I would say they are making the Viking pretty much like a bigger slower Hornet. Theyll handle abiyt teh same except for speed. Speaking of which, Viking will now be faster but less armored then Hunter (below m3) That is a flip flop on their current relationship.
  24. I just want to add this. Since I started playing Tanki I have done every single daily task oon all my accounts. Today for teh fitst time I am leaving a task unfinished on my main account, LittleWillie. I will play this accunt as little as pssible, until I can get what I have rightfully earned. So --- Tanki ---- is driving your new players AWAY from your game really your goal? Do you really want policies that make your players decide to play less?
  25. There's a lot of good about Tanki. Its a good game engine - which is the #1 concern. Lots of good maps have been created, many more than for some games. When you get down to it, Tanki has done a better job than most in balancing the player usage for the many different hulls and turrets. So, good game fundimentals exist in Tanki. But its surrounded by a clumsy and amateurish in-game economic .. which in turn affects Tanki's marketing efforts in the gamer market. Many other complaints and questionss have been covered in this thread. But I am hoping I can get an answer to a new question: Why do kits "rotate" in the first place? What possible benefit is accrued by making the gamer wait a half-month for something that has been earned in-game? What logic is behind this? Again, my personal example. New player, finally decide smokey/viking is my combo. Learn about kits, that they allow upgrades at earlier ranks. Grind exp for that goal. Have harder and harder time finding good games with each rank. Higher and higher ranked opponents have better and better gear. Decide to buy premium memberships to get through the hard part faster. Finally reach my goal: Captain! My kit is not in the Garage. Tolld to wait a week for rotation. Rotation comes. NO KITS available. Tanki screwed up. Wait one more day. My kit is still not in the Garage. Now must wait another week to see if it is in the Garage then. So two weeks after I bust my butt, I the game might actually allow me to obtain that which I have earned. Friends at Tanki, let me explain something to you. I want my new gear because I am tired of having to jump form server to server eavry time I want to play, to find a game with enough players close enough to me in rank. So during these TWO WEEKS OF ENFORCED WAITING, I am not going to play as much. I will do other things with my time- and that distances me from Tanki. But most importantly, I look back at the money I spent and I realize it was wasted. There was no need to get a 50% exp bump, because once I reached my goal I still have TWO MORE WEEKS OF WAITING. I could hace saved every penny and still got my new gear at teh same exact same date on the calendar. I am only a Capt and I have alts. I will not make the same mistake again. I will not spend another dime on this game, because I don't think this company knows what the hell it is doing on the business end. If Tanki every gives the impression they have hired some professionals in their business office, then I will re-consider my policy. That is, if I am still playing the game at the time. Thank you for reading. I hope I get an answer on the rotation logic.
