Tell us your cool ideas for new «Overdrives»

My favourite part about this topic is that developers are seriously considering all of these suggestions. Hope they have a good time.

Episode 136 of the V-LOG is here

What I'd like to know is how this survey and ideas about Overdrive fits with the metaphor that if you feel sick you don't go and tell your doctor what treatment you need, as that's for the doctor to decide. When I heard that they would be taking all the ideas seriously I was horrified. Honestly, to me, this looks like parents taking their ADHD kid to the doctor and the doctor asking the kid, "Do you want this soda with an extremely high sugar concentration?"

To be fair, most of Tanki's technical issues can't be solved with Flash. That's why they are busy migrating to html5.
  5. And that's why Tanki keeps losing players, because they can't be bothered to make space for casual players, and the system heavily discourages those who like playing with supplies off. Also, before merging the servers, in the EN servers you could play in Warrant Officer ranks without too much hassle. But you are right, I'm already looking for another game to use my time. If you've got any suggestions, I'm open to them.
  6. And what happens with players who do not enjoy drugging as if there were no tomorrow? The problem is not that we do not have supplies for non-pro battles. If that were the problem, Tanki would be doing just the right thing. The problem is that we cannot compete it non-pro battles without supplies. Some of us would rather have a game when teamwork, strategy, tactics, and such stuff had a main role in determining the outcome of a battle, rather than the current system in which the outcome of a battle is determined by who drugs the most. As long as battles are decided on supplies, there'll be problems with it. (Also, please, don't get started with the old tale "You've Got Pro-Battles." There are so many varied reasons why people don't play pro-battles, among them, lack of diversity, there aren't that many non-supply battles, we actually like using supplies to a moderate extent, we can't complete missions in pro-battles, we are casual players and therefore a pro-pass is not worth it, and so forth)

It's a horrible thing that activates all the supplies on your tank and nearby allies without actually using up any garage supplies, makes the winning team even stronger, and people like because it's shiny. Tanki brought it for the first time during May festivities, and a second time during its birthday celebrations.
  8. I sense a bit of discontentment with Shaft and Double Damage. B) What makes me mad? The server merge. Mainly for two reasons: - Before, you could play in the EN servers at Warrant Officer ranks. Now it's full of druggers. Winning a match is just about being lucky enough to get in the team that drugs the most. - I can't talk with my teammates anymore. 90% of the text in the chat is Cyrillic. I guess it works just fine for Russians. The last day I decided to just hide the chat because its only purpose was to put me in a bad mood.

Yup, that's about how it goes when you look for an enjoyable battle.

I think that we should have an overdrive that, once it's filled, if you activate it, it takes you to a balanced, enjoyable battle.
  11. Please, enlighten me, how do you counter a weapon that hides behind the enemy lines, behind a wall, and that can shoot anywhere in the map dealing a huge amount of damage with a huge splash damage? All other guns need to see you to shoot you, and therefore you can target them, but what do you do against a tank that you can't target? With a Magnum you only need to hide behind a wall and start shooting spawn areas and crowded areas. You don't even need to know if there are enemies there or their exact position. Just shoot where tanks tend to gather, and you'll hit someone. So, what are we supposed to do? Avoid the areas of the map that tend to get crowded? Yes, that's an awesome idea; let's give up all the strategic points in the map so that the enemy team can more easily corner us in our spamming zone and make life easier for their own Magnums. The only way to counter a Magnum is with another Magnum. That's why it's ruining the game-play.
  12. Oh, but it's already there. You only need to equip magnum and press space.
  13. Not playing solves many of the issues with the game, I believe. Maybe we all should learn from that guy.

Yep, that's what I thought when I saw the survey. I said to myself, "Oh no, LittleWillie's prediction is coming true!"

Hey, I beg your pardon for taking so long to answer, I've been entertaining myself with other stuff. By the way, if you like books, I heartily recommend Anne of Green Gables, it's a lot of fun. I completely understand what you say, and I think it makes a lot of sense. However, my approach to the game, ever since I started playing it, has been that I will play for as long as I have fun. If it comes to a point where the game is not fun anymore, I will simply stop playing. Playing only to do missions might be a sound economical choice, but if I wanted to plan and manage my money, I can just deal with my bills, I don't need a game for that. Although I do make plans for the future and try to make good choices, I am not going to be a slave to the system. Since I don't know if I'll be playing this game when I get to legend, I might as well enjoy it now and play what and how I want to play.

    Let’s celebrate Tanki’s 8th birthday!

My issue with capture flags and zero supply is that there is a far greater imbalance between winning and losing teams than usual. Therefore, if you find yourself in the winning team, there's usually a bunch of guys camping by the enemy flag waiting to take it once it's captured. Since, as a matter of principle, I try not to get into fights with my own teammates for flags or supply drops, that makes it more difficult than with a stronger losing team. My two reasons for not doing three missions every day are 1) I can't always guarantee that I'll be able to play on the next day, so I try to leave missions to claim so that I can keep the chain going, and 2) missions are boring. I want to play what I want to play, not what Tanki decides that I should play. I don't always have a lot of time to play, so the less time I spend completing missions, the better.

Define 'difficult missions,' please. I generally don't find any particular mission difficult. If you mean capture flags and finish first; no, not really. In fact, I find capturing flags a bit more difficult with the overdrive mode. But I'm not too keen on missions anyway. Normally, I just complete three of them, and then don't bother with them until I have claimed all the rewards two days later, so I wouldn't know.

Salty caramel is a lot better than normal caramel. You should try it.

    Let’s celebrate Tanki’s 8th birthday!

Alright, I've had enough with the overdrive mode. See you on 8th June, Tanki. Don't misunderstand me, I think that it's cool that Tanki brought this feature back, as some players were asking for it. It's nice of Tanki to listen to them and do a second round of zero supply mode. But I do not enjoy it. So, for those of you who actually like it, have fun.

Probably because they want at least some people to participate in it.

LOL, I just realised that there is a spelling mistake there.

    Let’s celebrate Tanki’s 8th birthday!

That would be 168,788 crystals for the micro-upgrades and 225,050 crystals for the speed-ups; a total of 393,838 crystals.
  23. Actually, as I was thinking about it, I realised that it isn't as simple. I don't know how Tanki's system works, but there is actually one difference between both systems. If Tanki randomly chooses whether or not a gold box will drop for every single crystal added (that is, if you kill a tank that's worth 6 crystals, then Tanki will do the random choosing six times), then one single event (one capture or one kill) could potentially trigger more than one gold box drop. If it does it in pack (that is, if you kill a tank that's worth 6 crystals, then Tanki only chooses once but the probability is six times higher), then one single event can only trigger one gold box. At any rate, as far as my maths go (which isn't very far), you get the same amount of gold boxes with both systems, though.
  24. Well, if you flip a coin twice (or if you flip two coins), using a normal distribution you will get one tail and one head, because the probability for each is 1/2+1/2=2/2. Now, if you ask about the probability of getting two tails, that's a whole other matter. Of course, this works a lot better with big numbers. If you make the experiment of flipping a coin 10,000 times, you will get tails roughly 5,000 times and heads roughly 5,000 times. It really does not matter if the fund increase happens one crystal at a time or several crystals at a time. In the same way as the coin will tend to fall half of the times on head and half on tail, regardless of whether your flip them one by one or all of them at the same time, if the fund increases 5 crystals at once, it produces the same probability of dropping a gold box as increasing 1 crystal five times, because if the probability of the gold box is 1/10,000, five increases mean 1/10,000 + 1/10,000 + 1/10,000 + 1/10,000 + 1/10,000 = 5/10,000.
  25. As far as I understand it, there is 1/10,000 chances that a gold box drops for every crystal added to the battle fund. So, if a tank is destroyed and 5.2 crystals are added to the battle fund, there is a 5.2/10,000 chance that that will cause a gold box to drop. If you double the battle funds, then that would make it a 10.4/10,000 chance.
