    Magnum Turret Released + Giveaway!

Being one-shot by everyone is so much fun! Seriously, I understand that light hulls are supposed to be able to resist less punishment, and that it's a trade-off for speed, and all that. But they are still tanks. They are supposed to be able to resist something. A few months ago, I could be one-shot by Shaft, and also by Railgun, Thunder and Hammer if they used double damage. So I had 15% protection against Shaft and Railgun, which kept me from being one-shot by Shafts without supplies and made Railgun not particularly likely to one-shoot me even with double damage. So basically I had to make sure that DD Hammers wouldn't get too close to me. Then, they added Striker, and they tweaked it so that it is impossible to dodge its missile salvo. So, yay! Another turret that can one-shot me from a ridiculously long distance and for which I have no protection! Not that it really matters, because even with 40% protection against it a salvo completely destroys my tank. Then they made Shaft able to one-shoot medium tanks, thus rendering my protection against it completely useless. Yay! I love using useless things! Now I can just go up and about, and as soon as I'm in the open, a nice Shaft comes and one-shoots me from a thousand kilometres away. But wait, it gets better. The last thing that they did was to add this ridiculous turret that does not even need to aim at me or even see me in order to one-shoot me. They can perfectly shoot randomly behind a building and, if I happen to be there, I'm brown bread. So basically, now pretty much every other turret can one-shoot me. Three of them only if they are on double damage, granted, but still. The other three, on the other hand, can just come out of nowhere and one-shoot me without me being able to react. That's really fun. I love it. Way to go. Cheers. Brilliant.

    Patch Update #449 - Released 16th March 2017

But then the problem is about hull stability, not Smoky's particular impact force. If it is about making hulls more stable, that's another debate, but I really can't see any situation in which it is fair, fun, or desirable to cut down Smoky's impact force and leave Twins' and Railgun's (just to name two) untouched.

    Patch Update #449 - Released 16th March 2017

While I understand what you say and I think that it is reasonable, I don't agree with it. To start with, annoyance is subjective. You find Smoky to be the most annoying turret, I find Vulcan to be the most annoying turret, and my neighbour finds Hammer to be the most annoying turret. There are different levels of annoyance, true, but everybody feels annoyed by different things. Your suggested change to Smoky, while balanced, makes Smoky an even more blah turret. Let me give you a couple of examples: I get really frustrated with Shaft's ability to one-shot me. That's one of the things that I find most annoying in the game. Now, I could ask that they remove Shaft's ability to one-shot people and give it a faster reload in exchange. The change might be balanced, but would it still be fun to play with Shaft? Would Shaft still be distinctive? Not really, it would just be a Railgun with a scope that needs to stand still while aiming. I find turrets that can be constantly shooting at me such as Twins, Ricochet and Vulcan annoying. When they start shooting at me, I can't keep up with their damage rate, most of them knock my aim off, and finding cover is pointless because by the time I have hidden, half of my health bar is gone and the other half will be gone as soon as I get out of my hiding place. My only chance against them as a Smoky user is to knock their aim off before they knock mine. I could ask that their fire rate be reduced and their damage increased in exchange. That would be balanced, but how different than Smoky would those turrets be then? If we start making everything less distinctive, turrets lose their reason to be, and then we had better do away with them. My point is that Smoky's main distinctive feature is its impact force.1 If you take that away, what is left that makes it a fun turret to play? 1- You could argue that its critical hit is also a distinctive feature of Smoky, if not its main one. However, since the rebalance Smoky's critical hit is not any better than a Railgun's or Thunder's strong shot, and therefore not really distinctive. The only thing that the critical hit achieves is to make Smoky not altogether useless at longish distances.

    Magnum Turret Released + Giveaway!

My guess is that it is a complaint because they have to fight in battles with supplies enabled, thus facing those who buy supplies.
  6. You do realise that "Reload -30%" means that it reloads 30% faster, right?

    Patch Update #449 - Released 16th March 2017

Just as the high damage per shot of Thunder, Railgun, or Shaft is annoying for turrets that have less powerful shots. That's how this game works, every turret has something that annoys other turrets. The only way in which a turret could annoy nobody would be if it was underpowered.
  8. You'd be surprised about the amount of people who know about computers and hack stuff simply for the fun of it. Besides, even accepting your point, why add something to the profile that would make some players more appealing as scam/hacking victims?

What to buy? Which is better?

I'm not talking about winning a high percentage of games. All that I'm saying is this: Playing in games with ranks higher that yours: Pros: Crystal/Score ratio higher, so more crystals. Cons: Higher chances of your team losing, so less crystals. Playing in games with ranks lower than yours: Pros: Higher chances of your team winning, so more crystals. Cons: Crystal/Score ratio lower, so less crystals. There is no hard and fast answer to this question.

    Patch Update #449 - Released 16th March 2017

The problem with your analogy is that your hypothetical situation doesn't work to the detriment of the player, whereas in the present situation, we find people who have bought stuff and the changes work to their disadvantage. It is true that Tanki doesn't have to do anything about it. It's life, tough luck, and all that. However, it would be nice of Tanki to do something about it, something that told the players, "Hey, we appreciate that you spend your money and your time with us. We understand that this changes affect you in a negative way, so we want to give you a sign of our appreciation." Then, all those who have M1 and M3s upgraded to 50/50 wouldn't feel like they have wasted their money. Really, giving something like a protection module of the appropriate modification, for instance, to those who have a fully upgraded M1 or M3 wouldn't cost Tanki anything (as it basically means switching on a couple of bits on a hard drive), and it would make the relationship with the costumers a lot better, which, in my understanding, is to Tanki's interest.

What to buy? Which is better?

The problem with that is that you also earn a lot more experience points, which means that you'll get to higher ranks with less crystals.

What to buy? Which is better?

That depends on your performance, I suppose. But generally speaking, the Crystal/Score ratio is higher. However, it must also be noted that more low ranks in a team tends to make victory more difficult. So you might end up losing more battles and, therefore, earning less crystals.

    Tanki Online is on Steam

What bugs me is that most of the people who put negative reviews seem to still be playing the game. I mean, if you're still playing it, it can't be that bad, can it? I don't think that people realise that scaring potential players away is not the way to improve Tanki.
  14. I don't think it was necessary. But I don't think it was a mistake either, it's alright.
  15. Do you mean to say that twins now requires actual skill to be played? There is a difference between power and gameplay. Before twins' gameplay was easier, against most of the turrets, you could just ram against the tank and keep shooting. Now, twins is more powerful (same damage + splash damage) but you can't use that tactic because you'd self-destruct. It is ironic how it's changed things, though. Now it is the twins user who gets rammed.

I find particularly interesting that you've already decided so before seeing how the new system works out. I mean, do you want a cheap M1 kit (like Hooligan or Firefly)? Yeah, probably it's not worth it. Now, if you do Hornet-Railgun (both of which unlock rather late, and come in a rather expensive kit), maybe the deal would be worth it. I mean, I don't know, I haven't played with the new system, maybe it's worth it maybe it isn't. But I'm open to seeing how it works out before having any strong opinion on it.

Fame! (Or: How To Fix Everything In Tanki)

I like the idea, it sounds cool. I'm not so sure about the "supplies giving you less fame" thing, though. (Yes, I know, I'm very original, I'm going to comment on drugs, the topic that no one ever talks about) I mean, Tanki gets a lot of money from supplies, they want to encourage it, not discourage it. Whereas giving more fame to those who use supplies would only enlarge the rift between druggers and non-druggers, I think that the solution must be something else. Perhaps the solution is what Mafioso says, perhaps the use of supplies should not affect fame at all. Frankly, I think that in order to solve the supply problem, the system should be changed so that in normal battles players can only use a few supplies and pro-battles can be set to either allow for any number of supplies used or none. Of course, that brings up the issue of supply usefulness. If you're in a battle where everyone is using supplies like crazy, then the only real consequence is that tanks take longer to die and are 40% faster. Part of the reason why people buy supplies (I would assume) is because they want to have an advantage over other players. Another option would be to reduce the power of supplies, which Tanki is not going to do. I really like the idea of awarding fame for sticking to a game until the bitter end. I, too, think that players should somehow be encouraged to stick to and join losing teams. That would make the game a lot less frustrating and more fun for everybody. Of course, people need an incentive to win, so I'm alright with the winning team getting extra rewards, but the current state of affairs is just ridiculous. I think that something like what you propose, a sort of reward that comes from that without making everyone get the same funds from the battle is very interesting.

Well, then maybe the Newspaper articles will have to change their opinion on MUs for M0s. That is true. However, I see a lot of players in M0 ranks who micro-upgrade their equipment a lot. I don't see that many in M1 ranks. There are already helps in the forum telling them that it is potentially a waste of money (though it isn't always in my opinion). Tanki could do something to help them realise that micro-upgrades are more expensive than the new modification, but, regarding the amount of newbies who micro-upgrade their M0 equipment, I think that it is good that, at least, it's not heaps expensive from M0 to M1.
  19. She (sorry if I got your gender wrong) never said "all other turrets" or "every other turret." Moreover, she is not talking about hammer's alteration, but about the changes that this update brought to hammer, which didn't contribute to make it any less overpowered.

RIP ISHIDA the day tanki killed the ishida

Yup, because we all know that healing teammates is not a unique feature. I love healing my teammates from a long distance using my Shaft in sniping mode. Granted, Isida is probably not the best turret for a 1 vs 1, but play with a good team and it rocks.
  21. Unless I am very mistaken, it refers to the crystals that you can buy in the shop for real money.

What to buy? Which is better?

Thank you very much! Yes, I think I'm going to get Tornado. Total_SkiIl and ThirdOnion, I really appreciate your help!
  23. Pink_Legacy

What to buy? Which is better?

Thank you! I'm currently leaning more towards Tornado. I plan on using mainly smoky, but that doesn't mean that I'll never use railgun. Moreover, that, as you have very well said, opens the door for XP/BP, which could be fun. So if I am going to use smoky most of the time in normal matches anyway, maybe it's better if I can use the other turret in a particular format. Do you happen to know, by any chance, which protection module each kit comes with?
  24. Maybe because playing isida in a bad team is already enough. You don't need to make it even more team-dependent. Maybe, just maybe, because with these changes isida will finally be able to do Death Matches again. Maybe because isida if its healing is less than the damage another tank takes (which is doubtful) isida might stop being always target number one. I don't know, though. These are just a few hypotheses.
