Xperia Z1 TY for the suggestions
-
I'm getting my first proper smartphone in a couple of days, so I was wondering what apps you guys use and find most useful / enjoyable which you would recommend I should get. Am generally thinking of free apps here, even though cheap apps which are great value for money can be recommended too. Thanks.

Sorry, I haven't clarified this. Does the texture you make HAVE to be completely designed from scratch?

Interesting. It's quite obvious you make the distinction here between Ranger's old guides and Kevred's current guides. Surprisingly, I find them quite similar in style of writing and target audience. However, I'm not sure I've got your point completely yet. Are you dealing with the issue with the topic chosen? Or is the main problem with this article simply the production and writing quality? I start to see your point more clearly though. Unfortunately, I don't feel this side of it was really brought across in your first post, which seemed a bit of a needless rant on something that did not warrant such a harsh "downer". Following on from this, would you have any practical suggestions for future topical series or perhaps things we could improve?

There was a relatively recent "Behind the Tank" with MD21. http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=209716

I always appreciate whenever players contribute to any sort of critiquing of the newspaper, as some of the best changes to it have happened when members of the community have been willing to voice their opinions and help to improve. It's great to be able to see it here. I however have to disagree with your quite vicious attack on the article here. Remaine posted above about the issue of rank not necessarily proving the knowledge of the players. However, that's not the particular problem I have with what you wrote. To quote you. "What we do need however are some more informative and inspiring guides like those written by experienced players". Now, I see there is a clear difference here between what you expected from this guide and what it actually was. It seems you expected/wanted a guide filling in-depth on the gameplay, helping you to use the sniping positions effectively, for usage in clan wars, high-ranked battles, like a Map Review perhaps, or a Weapon Guide. This article was NOT written for that purpose. This was written with the intention of providing an entertaining and yet intriguing piece of information reviewing on one using one of the most popular weapons in one of the most popular maps at lower ranks. And it succeeded. You also use the word "guide" a lot. Perhaps, we have different definitions, but I think that this is not just a guide. This is an interesting eye-catching article. Not particularly guiding. Maybe a review. But one thing's for sure. This is not worthless - not close. You also mention in your later post that all of it is "already known" stuff. Well, I don't know about you, I've never considered the Protection, Ease of Access and Firing Radius of twelve designated sniping positions in the map, let alone Camouflage in each of them. And I've never considered planting mines on both sides of the path beside you as Kevred suggested in Red Team position Number 2. And that's barely delving into the article. There's a fair amount of meat there. It's unfair to say it's all known, worthless, and we can get rid. I would say that this piece of work has much more worth than a lot, even the majority, of articles published in this newspaper of the time. It's relevant, useful, and well-produced. Sure, there's room for improvement, but your damning report is uncalled for in this situation. All the same, your feedback is appreciated. Don't let this post have stopped you from critiquing any more of the articles, thinking it's hopeless. Even here, you've helped me really think about the production of guides in the paper. It is clear from your post that you prefer more gameplay-directed instructive guides, and we will try to keep those coming your way. However, these "guides", as I said earlier, are not worthless. In many circles of players, they are more popular than the "Ultimate Guides" or "Map Reviews: Exploring the Unknown". And I intend for them to stay, and keep entertaining, informing and instructing readers.

I have a proper piano, don't worry. Just recorded it on a keyboard as sound quality generally is better. Yeah absolutely, trying to play piano on a keyboard is a route to underpar mediocrity.

A story of great quality, really impressed with the way this panned out. Well done guys.

One of the best interviews to grace the paper. Great read. -
How many of you have kept the same user name from the start ?
hogree replied to RampagingVenom in Archive
Probably the worst name in the entire community but doubt I have the guts to ever actually change it. Once hog, always hog -
Been a pleasure mate, hands down gonna miss chatting, playing, working with you, even for this relatively short time. Looking forward to see you back with those 20 A*'s in your back pocket

Hey guys, just to let you know. I'm going to be away in Malaysia till the 5th of Jan, so I'm sorry, but please don't spam my PM box asking me to update while I'm away! Should update when I get back some time. Have a happy New Year!

The point of this thread is relatively pointless, since Semyon has expressed that XP will survive, and they are planning to move it over to another server.

that explains a lot. *cough* Football fan, always been an under-dog supporter, and always will be. I have absolutely no idea on this planet how people can want to support the "best teams". Makes so little sense. It's as if you don't want to be satisfied when you win, because you expect to win. Ugh. Die-hard Aston Villa fan. Follow the Prem quite avidly., As for the Spanish league, if I had to pick a team which I support, it would have to be Deportivo la Coruna. Not interested in German, and couldn't care less about French. I also sort of follow the main stuff in tennis, and when not supporting the underdog, my favourite out of the top bunch is Del Potro. Rugby sort of, a Harlequins fan.

Only started when XPs became proper in-fashion, 'bout halfway through . Had committed myself not to get Rail - so much for that. XP's have been great fun, probably one of the main things that's kept me playing Tanki over recent times. But, I do have my qualms. Bar the occasional Kungur and Bobruisk on Server RU2, Generalissimos rarely engage in good old-school No Supplies Pro Battles, nowadays. It's as if XP's the only option. And the rise of XP Battles have also meant that less people play proper dynamic games with different combos at the top ranks now. It's a shame. I mean, come on. There's the opportunity nowadays to play Drug Wars again. And after all that time playing with XP, so many Generallisimos have mountains of drugs. And even though XP is awesome, don't get me wrong, there's nothing quite like Drug Wars. But you only get the annoying 999-flag Noises and Silences occasionally popping up on Server 1 - as if they can't be taken seriously. Please don't be crazy enough to think that the only Drug War Battles people will join have to go up to over 100 Flags. I'm almost tempted to start up a Drug-War Club again. And really show how good Tanki can be at the top ranks - something so many newer Generallisimos won't be able to appreciate, with the lack of drug wars on the servers. Rant over. I guess I may just reminiscent of the past. But players need to think more outside the box when creating battles.

Personally, I reckon Serpuhov would be ideal for next issue

Definitely Magnum from those options. Although that does have some unfavourable connotations, the other names are hardly attractive for weaponry. Can't believe Shotgun is getting votes. o_O
