Review [Special] A Test in Review: The Matchmaking System
ThirdOnion replied to Yisroel.Rabin in Newspaper Archive
I can't believe RIDDLER was featured in this article. Just lol. -
May I ask what bringing back Semyon will do? Community manager is not responsible for the updates. Besides, Cedric is leaving anyway.
-
"Amazing variety of maps" . . . funny joke. I guess if you like playing Osa, 2042, and Silence all the time it's a good update for you . . .

Preliminary re-creation of the new Polygon: Ironically I find that with the removal of some camping areas others are created. Consider this area for example: A Magnum on red team can just sit here and lob shells into blue spawn points all day. This exploit is probably not restricted to Magnum players.

Ooh, system to detect power-leveling. How smart! Except it would screw over every 1v1 player in TO! What the "bald guy" said, whether you like it or not, is true.
-
Windows 10 would be great if not for the mandatory updates.

Universal greeting used by noobs in Tanki: "was gold??"

How you can survive without basic trigonometry is beyond me. It is applicable EVERYWHERE (video games included). Fields in computer science are only increasing. I can't comment on your observations of your teachers, because not everyone in the world has it the same way you do. Perhaps it really is terrible where you are. Also, you are sooo wrong when you say what happened in the past has nothing to do with the future. What happened 70 years ago doesn't matter right? America should invade North Korea again, right? Take the Russia as an example. The generation born after USSR collapsed is very different from the generation who was born during it. Somehow billions of people have been able to figure all these things out without learning them in school. I don't see why this is such a problem. Are you paying taxes at 16? I think not. Besides, how much time can you spend learning these things? A month at most? I guess learning how to file taxes and buying a house is something that warrants 4 years of education?

Рак can mean either "lobster" or "cancer," most likely the former and most likely an insult. Not sure what is being implied by "кросс."
-
Battle list will still be here to stay., and you will be able to make pro battles for free. It's not completely terrible.
-
To add on to this, the "running" happens almost exclusively when one team is badly losing. Usually if someone leaves from the winning team or if both teams are tied someone will take their place. No one, however, will take someone's place on the losing team. Why do players leave if they start to lose? Because they get no reward from staying. The gap between winning team earnings and losing team earnings is huge. If you actually got a reward for staying, less players would leave. Let's also consider how MM will "solve" this problem. Players on the losing team start leaving. So MM puts new players onto the losing team. How is this fair to the players who have been waiting in the queue just to be put on a losing team? Surely there will be a penalty for those who leave MM battles prematurely. About mults: I can't speak for other players, but in my own experience these are either players who are just AFK, or players who like to push people around for no reason. They are annoying, but exceedingly rare and hardly ever actually throw a game. Somehow I feel that many players who complain about mults are just complaining about a poor team.
-
WOT's MM is trash because of +2/-2. And that is intentional. It isn't so bad now, because of the 3-5-7 rule, but still very frustrating if you're lowest tier. +1/-1 would be soooo much better.

Practically all games with matchmakers are better than TOs matchmaking system. Ignoring the fact that it was only in a test phase so far, TO just wasn't built around matchmaker to begin with. Players fight each other based on rank, equipment doesn't matter. I don't know of any other games that do that. Of course, professionally developed console game is better than 8 year old Flash demo. Poor comparison. TO can be fun, even with repetitive gameplay. I like it because of the unique maps and physics engine. What other game has parkour like TO? But you are right, the equipment a player uses largely depends on whether they are a buyer or not or whether it was nerfed recently. Agreed. There is absolutely no reason to stay in a battle that you know you are going to lose. You will harm your K/D, be frustrated, and in the end be rewarded with a trivial amount of crystals. Less players would leave if they knew that they would get rewarded for their contributions to the team.
-
Do we have any proof of this? An official statement from the devs? Just asking. I don't really see how any of the current updates are going to keep new players. Maybe at best the matchmaker, and frankly even that is dubious, as it makes TO similar to other games. Making the game less frustrating for new players is the way to keep them. For example the recent update which makes MUs cheaper means that you are going to have plenty of buyers at the M1 level who have fully MU'd M1s. This does not help new players in the slightest.
-
I mean MM would take only the best equipment a player has into account. No one wants to use M1 if they have M2.
-
Probably because many players are also playing constantly too. But otherwise I agree. In my opinion, matchmaker should put players together based on equipment ONLY. I don't care about skill, I don't care about rank, I just do not want to face players with 2 levels of equipment higher than me (M4).
-
In the near future.
-
TBH TO just doesn't have enough players for MM to work properly.
-
lol.
-
They want to "modernize" Tanki to compete with current games and make the battles "fairer." It's pretty messed up.
-
"Only" 20 seconds? If that's the minimum, that's ridiculous. The waiting times are simply unacceptable. Not "quick play" at all.
-
So just XML? What function do .TARA files serve?
-
Use battle list. You can create pro battles for free, on any maps you want, and play with your friends. I don't know how so many players are overlooking this option.
-
That sounds like lag. Not much can be done to remedy that, besides finding ways to improve your internet connection.
-
I think you are supposed to use AlternativaEditor to create TARA files. Otherwise this is something I'd like to know too.
