easy. 1st off we disregarded his age, his voice, his rank and his "apparent knowledge of starladder" , because face it most participants knowledge about that is weak. Judging past these criteria there are many little things the kid did which appealed to the judges who were happy rewarding his good efforts made. Sure he didn't know the match starts off at 10:00, but unlike many of you putting the horse down for this kind of issue, we were able to look beyond that for other clues. Again, had this been a contest dedicated for the next eSports commentating official this fellow wouldn't have even attained a podium finish, perhaps not even a consolation prize. But the contest wasn't about that !!! It was an open contest dedicated to the wider audience of tanki, not for specialists ! Look again at the advert for the contest, nowhere in there was it written "for the pros" and not even for the casual enthusiasts for the matter. Its just meant to be a fun-for-all event for people of all kind, all ages, all background regardless of their prior technical knowledge or specific starladder knowledge. Therefore the judging was made to suit that general type of participants, which are vastly uninitiated to eSports and starladder. In that regard the judges didn't do bad at all. Changing any results now to suit a more esports/starladder oriented group would be extremely unfair to the rest of the people who participated and the community at large. That said, after rechecking the table used by the judges, DuckHonk and Arabiannoble only missed the minimum line for a consolation prize by 0.5 points. Can't get any closer than that ! Will discuss with the rest of the administration and see if we can lower the bar to include these fellas in the consolation prize zone. I'm sure that can be achieved :) However due to DuckHonk violating the rules of the contest, he won't touch any of the crystals that come with that, but hey he already got a special mention, so he can't complain.

^ M8 you crack me up !! whether on forum or on skype you criticise so hard about "noob commentators" like you're a real super pro one and all you got is arguments of the type "hey they didn't mention drop boxes !! " ?? Man you so pro, we should give you a prize and hire you for the real job immediately even if you didn't take part in this contest. Reason for that being you're the only person among all 60 participants who pointed out Oh wait !! you did not point that out, nor any other "pro" thing a pro would have noticed in a video that's been up there for more than 2 weeks + needless to say since that game was played, and I don't even recall seeing any single entry made by you for this contest :huh: Fact of the matter is none of us here are pros, not the contestants, not the judges, definitely not myself, and absolutely not you ! So next time please be a little more considerate before machine-gunning out those criticisms against people who at least made an effort ^ applies to all of you who are criticising people about the littlest of things over here

1st off: you did great and congratulations. Sadly no, for the real job there's way more things that come into play, 1 of them being age and I don't think you meet them yet. But don't let that put you down, if you enjoyed commentating, there's lots of other place where you can shine. There are quite a few people making interesting videos all around and looking for people to commentate on them, so if you like that, go for it ;)

You're so tempting me right now lank :D I might go ahead and choose the super low-rank male-female couple who know absolutely nothing about tanki at all just to please you ;) The only thing running out the window is you ! oh and zayn as well, and perhaps some more. So chill guys !!! Relax. As already stated by goldrock and pk99 this is just a contest, a tanki contest like all other tanki contest. Its not a selection of the next cybersport commentator. Its a contest open to all tankmen of the community (and beyond that too it seems - al chantino :huh: ) and we have to remain fair to these persons as well, who btw, happens to be the vast, huge majority in case you guys didn't notice :ph34r: But here's good news for you people of the minority who are really interested into eSports + starladder + commentating. You are all invited to apply for the job if you really want it, there's places up for grabs at the moment btw, and even if you didn't win any prizes in this contest you will still have your full chances of getting the job depending on the quality of your application you submit over there.

To clarify: it was clear all along that winners get a CHANCE to be on the commentator team. It was never about guaranteeing them any spot or give them tenure or something. So all you out there having a heart attack about warrant officers or other people clearly ignorant of basic eSports things joining the staff team can relax. Not gonna happen !

First lets get this one out of the way. No, he didn't get a consolation prize as the others did. Instead he got a "special mention" for something which, despite never meant to be a serious competing entry, did a great job at showing how eSporting is different than just plain random casual playing. And that's a cause which is very dear to all of us who had been judging, we respect that and we'd love to encourage that. We really don't mind seeing creative people break some contest rule to provide some great work that serve a good cause for the community :)

Only article I've actually read for this issue (didn't like the others, just skimmed through them) I'd like to add that for the support role hammer is rather ideal with its long enough range and sufficient damage. On a medium tank like viking or hunter (or perhaps even hornet, didn't try this one) its really good to just patrol around and wound enemies before they reach a CP, making them much easier targets for team mates to finish off. To conclude, IMO if your garage has all of thunder, smoky and hammer, the one you'll likely never use in a CP would be smoky since thunder provides that long range deal you'd want in big large CP maps the way smoky doesn't, and for the shorter to mid-range action smoky squishes under the hammer, period.

Here's another word that does Now for the other people around seeing this and wondering who on earth wrote the script to this SOAP opera, well you'll have to know that all groups, clans, clubs, teams have their own little bickering moments, and its natural. Its sad this one spilled out for all to see, but hey, at least now we know they're a group which is as real as we are, having their own little problems and facing their own tough reality and that of their members. Its nothing that doesn't happen to other groups + I personally now have a little bit more respect for them knowing that behind all those great awesome videos they keep on producing there is also a difficult situation and its not all rosy, but nevertheless, somehow they manage to produce, and good stuff too, and regularly as well. So hats off peeps and respect ! Also you guys n girls I'm sure will be able to work things out behind the curtains, say on skype, and at the end of the day, some might stay, some might not, some will have clashing schedules, etc etc ... All that matters is that the group keeps on moving and you, as well as us non-members of the group keeps on bringing support and cheers, isn't it ? ;)

I am pretty sure they won't mind it at all if you know how to put it out to them, mentioning that this is actually an opportunity to try something you could potentially be doing later on in life if you are as good as they say you are :) I know, its a bit distracting, but hey, you do get to see the clip beforehand and prepare your speech, which is something live commentators cannot do at all. Oh and speaking of this, please guys don't over prepare your commentating and narrate it through the video, it will sound dull and we'll instantly recognise it. Try to be spontaneous as much as you can ;) I do share your dissatisfaction about the matter :( If you wanna know the commentators and streamers were ready for that, but unfortunately StarLadder weren't able to provide us with the live pictures of those battles due to problems with the equipment required for that. may be there really was a hippopotamus invasion there :wacko: Well first you'll have to win or come 2nd or 3rd. Then I'm sure something can be arranged about the prize ;)

I still believe there's stuff which the vlog doesn't cover which you guys can. There's one thing I pointed out to el ham, conan and goldie some 2 months ago though. News have an expiry date, some closer than others, and with monthly editions some of those might get old by the time they're published. Besides a month is about 4 weeks and in the MMO business that's a long time
