Interrogating the Helpers: Forum Moderators

Greetings, English-people!

We have both been victims of the British, and hence now speak English, and thanks to that, I could come up with this name that I could use to call my readers, you know what, I don't know why I'm telling you this, so I'll just shut up...

Anyways, so, umm, *goes here to copy some lines* *[...]* in this interview series, I am going to pick 4 helpers from each helper group, and interrogate them until they spill some beans. For this time, I discovered some Ruby while digging through some coal, and I brought them to my lab.

Here are the reports of my scientific experiments on these rather curious redish rocks.

Been on the Forum lurking around till I got caught by one of Cooper's traps and later got adopted in the team among other prisoners in there, well we do get fed well and the place is nice to stay, better than being on the run. :ph34r:

Well in case you don't know, let me tell you a little bit of info about it and how it all started. First I was just using the Forum, answering and posting normally till I saw the ..;p and it got my attention, was quite nice to try it out and I started using it and Cooper was the first person I ever saw her using, well every good thing comes to an end right? When I got familiar with the *..;p* and the trial time started to come an end, I started paying it regularly so nowadays I use it more often and I of course I pay the bill since it isn't free, there are some months which I kinda pay 2 month's bills at once and other times where I delay the bills and PREVENT myself from using it cos if I do, it is over!

Well, what aspect of your job do you enjoy the most?

@Hate: Some of the best thing about being a Forum moderator is that, we Forum moderators like the Forum and it is like our own home hence keeping the Forum a tidy and happy place goes beyond cleaning up messes, but also helping players who have questions, ideas, or perhaps are interested in engaging with the community on a different level with something such as a Clan or a Parkour Club. Another good thing is that using our knowledge to help players solve any issues they may experience in the game. The job also includes dealing with violations and processing reports from players. One other thing that motivates me and many other Forum mods or helpers in general is that I personally love how I help players and in return they give me a wonderful reply saying "thank you for helping me" I love how we interact with my colleagues in To all are friendly making me feel at home all times and this certainly is the aspect I myself enjoy most in my job.

: Helping other players is the best part. Especially those that reach out to me using Forum PM, I feel honoured they specifically asked me something xD. Also, I try to act professional (aka give boring long answers) yet still down to earth by having friendly convos, and keep on making new friends whenever possible. :)

@Ninja: Answering questions for sure. Always when a big update drops players have hundreds of questions in the topic, chat and PM and I genuinely enjoy going through the entire topic answering singular questions. One of my personal favorites was the 'Your questions for this week's V-LOG' topic which came out after a controversial update which everyone loved *cough* hated *cough*, as you can imagine that resulted in quite a few questions to feast on. And feast I did.

@I3est: Closing topics created by trolls of course :ph34r:. But on a serious note, I also enjoy helping out players by giving advices, answering their questions and helping them with their problems with game. What can be better than giving a helpful hand to people who are looking for help?

If you were made Forum Admin, what is the first thing you would do? It can be anything, even drinking coffee.

 

@Hate: I would chill in Parkour battle all day long B).

On a serious note though, since Admins are quite busy and they don't post much in the Forum, it would be nice seeing 1 or 2 Admins posting some things more often and interacting with players more often, I know the moderators do it already but to me it just would be nice although it isn't necessary so I will most likely do that..;p

Raise FM pay obviously To be honest I really wouldn't know what to do. I'm not even sure what control over the forum admins have (aside of the obvious things). I would like to improve the mobile version of the forum and maybe update the forum engine, add some more emojis and probably a lot of trivial stuff like the latter.

Actually, you can't do that, because that is in the domain of the Devs sitting in Perm :mellow:

Is it true that your job forces you to speak good about the game, even when it goes against your personal opinions?

 

@Hate: No we are not forced to, you choose what to say about the update, if you like it, you liked it, if not then you have the right to not like it and you won't be forced.

: Nope- I will never be forced to defend an update I really hate. I do try to see the best in these situations and make sure it's relayed on to the players that there is really no such thing as 'an all bad update' (just like there probably never will be 'an all good update').

That being said, I can see why there are so many people who believe this. Thing is, unlike the general players, it's much easier for us to collect all the feedback about updates in their respective topics, forward them to our admins and CM (who will later forward to the devs) and add our own concerns directly there. Basically, if it's a negative thing that I really hate about the update, I'll go straight to my admins and make sure it is included as part of the general feedback. ;)

@Ninja: No, if I don't like an update I'll scream in helpers chat or at my admin instead of the announcement topic where players will always blow my criticism massively out of proportion and ignore anything positive I say. If I was forced to say something as my personal opinion when in-fact it wasn't, I'd quit my position.

@I3est: No it's not true. No one forces us to do anything. I don't get those people who think that if you're mod you need to speak good about everything tanki related, it's not true, we have our own opinions also, after all we are players too.
 

 

 

As moderators, you get to interact with . What is your opinion on him? How is he different than @Cedric Debono? Or , if you were present at that time?

 

@Hate: He is the man, fun, easy to reach and communicates with helpers and players more often, chill and interesting person, although he became a druger lately with his Isida.

: I don't really get to talk to him unfortunately. And although I'm admittedly quite biased towards @Cedric Debono (Malta rulezzzz!1!1!!), I think is well on his way to becoming even more liked by the players :D. I wish him the best of luck. :)

@Ninja: I don't really get to talk to him directly, it's usually through my admin. I think he's a pretty cool guy with the right thoughts and experience to make the community better. How is he different to @Cedric Debono? Well... quite a bit actually. I think he interacts and updates players more often and more directly than @Cedric Debono did which is a very good thing. Can't really say about since he wasn't around for too long during the time I used the forum.

@I3est: I don't really get to talk to him, but he seems like a fun guy who talks a lot to players and answers all what they ask, just like @Cedric Debono used to do, maybe he even does it more often than @Cedric Debono, which is great and that's what we need from a CM.
 

 

 

If you could, whom would you recommend be added into the Forum Mods group (yes I asked the reporters the same question, Im vely uncrutive wit bed splng n grummur :( ) ?

 

@Hate: If there is someone I would recommend as a Forum moderator, most likely a player who is now inactive but writes decently and each one of his/her answers are just insanely good, the way the player's opinions is offered, the way it is handled, the... I mean I can keep on going on but yeah, I would like to see that player in the team one day.
