Yisroel.Rabin replied to Yisroel.Rabin in [Issue 69] Comic Captions! Newspaper Archive
Are you funny? Well, if you said yes (I can't hear you), this contest is for you! Create a comic with as much humor as you can squeeze out of yourself and win big prizes! _______________________________________________________________________________________ Objective The objective is simple. Be as funny as you like, and if you're creating your own comic from scratch, try to make your comic consist of more than one image, like a real comic strip would. Here's an example image to caption, if you can't think of one yourself. Example of good entry from the past: Rules 1. Contest entries will only be judged if submitted to this form. Other locations will not be accepted (in comments, other topic threads, PM, etc.). If you would like to post your entry other places besides the form, you can, but it won't be judged, so make sure you submit it to the form too. 2. Participants can only submit one entry. If you submit more, only the latter one will be judged. 3. Plagiarism is forbidden. Posting other players’ entries will result in disqualification. Other [Halloween Special] If the English Community Went Trick or Treating
Yisroel.Rabin replied to Yisroel.Rabin in [Halloween Special] If the English Community Went Trick or Treating Newspaper Archive
As the Sun set on the night of the 31st, tankers from across the community lurked out from their camping spots in their spooky costumes to collect as much candy as they could get their hulls on. The Moon started lighting the sky a bit, just enough to see the ground beneath your tracks. Street lights started blinking, and some went out. A chill settled in with a swift breeze. Some thin tree branches began to shake, although that was mostly thanks to @TSY_the_crazy, who was hiding in the tree branches like a monkey, holding a 24-pack of toilet paper, ready to throw a roll at innocent by-passers. @The.L-E-G-E-N-D, the tough and fierce tanker everyone feared, popped out from the corner of Barda Drive and Highway Hwy., in a pony costume... Friends, laughing, asked him why he chose to wear a pony costume. He explained how he always had a deep love for ponies, and had frequent dreams of one day becoming one, which made the better part of the rest of the night completely awkward. Friends who went with him tried hiding him behind their costumes whenever they rang someone's doorbell, as not to embarrass themselves every time someone opened the door. Meanwhile, a few streets away, @Ninja and @Hate, the cool guys in Tanki Online Junior High, who always claimed the act of trick or treating to be rather babyish, and assured everyone they wouldn't waste their time with it, but would rather go to some cool guys' party, nonetheless wanted a bit of candy, and were never actually invited to any parties. To protect their identity as "the cool kids in school who always got dem' girls," Ninja and Hate snuck out in dark hooded gangster costumes, which hid their faces from other trick-or-treaters and friends who they might have bumped into throughout the night. They did their best to put on different voices, which was for the most part a failure, but just managed to get them through the night with a bit of candy. In some mansion somewhere, the filthy rich @Cyborg was sitting in his mansion, watching some horror movie, and never even thought of going trick or treating. He planned his Halloween just as it had played out: talk to no one, barricade the doors so no trick-or-treaters get near, watch a movie, and go through as much food as possible. Cyborg was always that rich kid in the neighborhood who was spoiled and had no friends, and simply didn't mind it. He just got a new toy everyday, and lived his life. Halloween was nothing more than another day of Tankflix Originals for him. Just couple of hours after dark, the pranksters began rolling out. @Adriel.RB had built a replica of the Bat Signal, only he replaced the famous Batman icon with the word 'FARTS.' How do we know it was Adriel? Well... Other pranksters like had their share in trolling too. Kenan walked around town with a recorded audio of the Gold Box siren, and basically triggered everyone. He managed to steal distracted noobs' candy as well, using this fantastic tactic. Then there's good old @Regency, the classic noob. He knocked on peoples' doors in his bunny wabbit costume asking for candy, only to realize he'd just visited that house five times. Then he'd do it again. He also kept forgetting where he left his bag of candy. He put it down to fix his bunny ears, which kept falling in front of his eyes, and when he straightened them, he had no recollection of what just happened. He must've repeated this process at least ten times before finally remembering it was Halloween, by which time he'd forgotten where he put his bucket of candy. After giving up on finding his own bucket, he went around nibbling from other peoples' buckets, occasionally (or should I say, frequently) getting caught and punched. His Halloween ended as it did every year; one candy with one hundred bruises. The successful guy was @lukey0, as he was every year. Lukey somehow always managed to get around thousand times more candy and treats than everyone else in the community, all without the blink of an eye. He didn't even have a cool costume, he just wore some overused skeleton thing. Everyone accused him of hacking, but it's pretty hard to hack real life, so those allegations died down quickly. He sold all his candy and bought a brand new Viking XT, 2018 model! Everyone was jealous, including me (even though I get paid for doing essentially nothing). Salty tankers got jealous and turned his brand new vehicle into an old subway wall, spraying graffiti all over it. And amidst all the happiness and ignored people trying to look attractive, sat the most curious of them all, @tweezers. Individuals such as him, don't really fit in well with all the festivities and commotion. These kind of people prefer to stay alone and to their own thoughts, pondering over how something as common as candy could fill the deep and dark hole we all share every year. People walk by him, waving their hands over his face, but he does not even twitch, probably to indicate that he requires his solitude. Sometimes, people consider him as hostile and expect him to be plotting some evil scheme to conquer the world, but that job is for other people, and he takes no notice of these vile gossips. Perhaps, he is disappointed that this community is slowly tumbling away like tumbleweed in the desert, which wouldn't be wrong if he did so. Maybe we should just leave him be, after all, what harm can a pair of tweezers cause? And then he comes. Being the monarch dictator that @Flexoo is, he gently requested everyone to yell 'Hail' and bow down in respect, while having multiple Slovak commandos grab everyone by the neck. They yelled "Hail" with whatever part of their throat which was not being choked, followed by a spontaneous streak of coughing. He who must not be named, although admitting to theft of the name from famous Harry Potter villain Lord Voldemort (yes, its not Voldermort) said that he has stolen way more candy than him. His bloodlust for world domination, apparently exceeded his need of chocolate Maltesers. Perhaps he wishes to cover the entire planet with mutated candy monsters? We can only predict, since he keeps all his information secure in his private safe, which only opens when curse words are yelled on it, hence keeping the reporters away. But luckily, he didn't do anything too extreme, besides taking lollipops by force. PS: Future note for all turkeys to stay inside on Thanksgiving, because when this man is around, being roasted with mash potatoes is an understatement. Women control many things in the Halloween Society, and one of those controllers is @Night-Sisters. Don't worry, we'll get to blame her very, very soon. The entire place lit up with joy as she moved through the columns of fans getting over-enthusiastic about seeing her wear an ugly brute costume, although she swore that she wasn't wearing one. Being a candithusiast, Halloween is her favorite time of the year, because she can put aside the sorrow with chocolate. A great follower of The Lord of The Rings trilogy, she tried to inflict her humor upon everyone, but quite frankly, Nevertheless, she tried and failed admirably. As it was Halloween, we exempted her from being blamed, but it's simply in our blood. #BlameTheNS Over yonder stood the duo that call themselves "X_x_X-COOLKIDZ-X-x-X." Namely @Lankbouv and @PAKISTANII. There is one thing that they love more than weird spelling, and that is weird spelling. Being extremely skilled war veterans and eSports legends, these guys handle attention and awkward fan-crushes with ease. Wherever they go, conversations about their awesomeness follows. There are a few who think that their presence is absurd since they have no Halloween spirit, don't wear costumes and consider candy to be "N0t koo1 en0u6h." Some people go to the extent of calling it Lankoween out of sheer enthusiasm and spirit. Mostly, they liked to stroke their shirt collars as their names were being yelled out, requesting autographs. They simply declined, probably because they can't spell their names and moved forward in the most thug way possible. Weird glasses, big eyelashes and CALTECH passes, there is no Halloween without a nerd teen. @Tofu sat in the corner with his "fancy state of the art high-tech super awesome powerful computer." At least, that's what he calls it. His face was red, there was a steak on his head and for cool people he had hatred. Being a super-minded genius doesn't really help him much, since he can never get anything except nothing. The treats were no use to him because he doesn't know how to chew food. He wrote something on his laptop, taking a closer look revealed the words: "Day 944, I am stranded with these feeble-minded primitive apes. I even hacked into American President's broadcast frequency and forced him to build a wall high enough for a signal into the future. I must purge the Mexicans, brb." With all the different personalities in this vast ecosystem, it's no wonder that the Tanki Community has fallen into chaos. But then again, Halloween is a time to rejoice and forget about past mishaps and bygones, so happy Halloween to you all, fellow weird creatures from deep crevices. Review [Halloween Special] Halloween in Tanki Online
Yisroel.Rabin replied to Yisroel.Rabin in [Halloween Special] Halloween in Tanki Online Newspaper Archive
As Halloween approaches, we take a look back at the long history of Halloween in Tanki Online, and try and speculate what will it be like this year. _____________________________________________________________________________ History of Halloween in Tanki Online 2010 Although the game had been launched two years back, 2010 was the first year Tanki officially celebrated Halloween. Nonetheless, there wasn't anything really happening. There was no special map, like there is nowadays, and there were no discounts! The flags were changed to match the event. They had pumpkins on them, and the objective of the event was to get your enemies pumpkin (flag) and bring it back to your pumpkin (flag). Fortunately though, there was a special holiday paint, which was actually the first ever holiday paint to enter the game. Like it would be for years to come, the holiday paint had a black background with faced pumpkins on it. The 2010 Halloween celebration Holiday paint. 2011 The Hallowe'en celebrations in 2011 started October 28th, and lasted until November 1st. There was still no Hallowe'en map, but things did get hyped up since the previous year. There was once again a special holiday paint, which had the same basic design as the last year's paint. The 2011 Halloween celebration Holiday paint. Of course, there were themed decorations again, but only on the maps Atra II (a removed map), Island, Polygon, and Madness, which also played cool sound effects as the music background. The creepy skybox on the Space Madness map. The coolest bit of event, which we don't have now-days, was "The Hunt for the Pumpkin-Tanks." There were self-driving tanks with pumpkins as turrets, which players had to hunt down. Appearance of the Flags and “Pumpkinheads” during Halloween in 2011. 2012 This year, the celebrations were shortened, only lasting from October 30th until November 1st. However, a huge upgrade came from the previous years, and that was the addition of a special Halloween map. The map had similar gameplay tactics to that of Fort Knox, and also used the same props; two bases on either side of the central castle. The 2012 Halloween celebration map. Another new thing was Gold Boxes. Special Gold Boxes with the value of 305 crystals (which was a lot at the time, as everything was cheaper) occasionally dropped in the center of the Halloween map. Special Gold Box which dropped in the 2012 Halloween map. There were, as every year, spectacular decorations and a paint to match the festive theme. This time there were discounts too, however they were quite shall: Only 13% off on M3 turrets and hulls alone. 2013 The 2013 Halloween celebration was the first which I myself experienced. I remember it well. The discounts didn't boost since the previous year, it was still 13% off, only this time around it was on all garage items, as appose to just M3 equipment, like it was the year before. I don't exactly remember what I bought that sale, but it could've been Shaft M0 and Firebird M1. This was just a nine or so months after the release of the Update 123, which boosted everything pertaining to crystals by ten times the amount, so gold boxes went from their new-1000 crystal standard (old standard was 100 crystals), to a tripled 3000 crystal box for the celebrations. Special Gold Box which dropped in the 2013 Halloween map. There was also a special map, which was basically the (old) Highland, just with night mode and a few additional changes. They added pumpkins and grave stones around the map to make things more spooky, and obviously stuck a few ghosts around the map as well. Besides that, there was the famous graffiti on one of the house walls, stating "Beware of Godmode_ON" in red. The 2013 Halloween celebration map. Besides the cool props around the Halloween map, map contained cool themed decorations to match the festive mood. Billboards were lit up with the Halloween banner, flags got redone as well, and there was another addition to the holiday paint! Of course, this was the year that the legend known as @Godmode_ON was born. He was found around the game wearing his signature 'Devil' paint, which was red at the time. Ever since then, intrigued players have been trying to dig out Godmode's secret identity, however haven't succeeded yet. First ever picture of Godmode_ON released from the developers. And then there was also a cool Twitter contest, where tankers had to create a picture, gif, or video under 30 seconds related to their Halloween in Tanki, and tweet it at the official Tanki Online Twitter. Tanki gave their example of what a good entry looks like. 2014 By the 2014 Halloween, a lot had changed since the previous celebrations, which meant a lot of changes happened to the way things were celebrated as well. I was Lieutenant Colonel at that time, and was a lot more experienced than I was the year before, so I noticed more details. The discount jumped from the last two years' 13% slash, to 31% discount on all garage items, which just seemed like a corny way for Tanki to give a low discount, but it was higher than it ever was before, so why not? Again, I don't remember what I bought, but I probably bought something. With every holiday, comes great decorations. This meant another few days of cool billboards and flags, as well as another holiday map. Like the last Halloween map, this one was also based off of an already existing map, this time being Barda. The map was nonetheless loved by the players and got a cool holiday paint to go with it. The paint had a dark blue background, with black bats dotted all over it. The paint was added to the game in later years as 'Night', and remains in the Garage for purchase until this day. Beautiful image taken by @XxSparkShinexX of a tanker wearing the Holiday paint on the Halloween map in 2014. Like every year, there was a special Gold Box. This time however, Tanki redesigned the entire shape of the Gold Box, creating a golden pumpkin shaped Gold Box worth 3000 crystals, which would fall on the Halloween map during the celebrations. Special Gold Box which dropped in the 2014 Halloween map. Tanki also held a cool event, called "Zombie Mammoth." The objective was that there would be one event helper equipped with Wasp, who would run around the Halloween map. All the participants would act as Mammoth Zombies, using Isida and Mammoth, trying to kill the event helper. The zombie who makes the kill wins. After the celebrations finished, Tanki released the statistics to show off a bit. 2015 Lots of new stuff came with the 2015 Halloween celebrations. Firstly, with the introduction of Daily Missions update, thee were special Missions with bigger tasks but even bigger prizes. For example, there was the "Earn 3000 experience points on the Halloween map." A Generalissimo got 16 750 crystals for completing it! This time around, there weren't one, but two unique Halloween paints. One of which was the classic Holiday paint, which had an orange background with dark bats on it, and the second one was a paint called 'Eternity', which was available in the Shop during the event, with the price differing between ranks. The paint has red roses with skulls on it, and looks incredibly cool. You can still find some people in battles using it to this day. 'Holiday' 'Eternity' Top: Halloween 2015 Holiday paint. Bottom: Eternity paint. Thankfully, this time around, Tanki came up with a completely new Halloween map, which was basically a graveyard with surrounding higher ground. The map only supported Deathmatch mode, but had special Gold Boxes falling 10 times as often. The gold siren was changed too, instead of the standard siren, there was an evil laugh every time the gold notification popped up. Special Gold Box which dropped in the 2015 Halloween map. There was a pretty nice side contest, where the top 100 gold hunters would get prizes. The 1st got 100 000 crystals and any dream tank available at his rank, the 2nd to 10th got 50 000 crystals, and the 11th to 100th got 20 000 crystals. Sales were pretty bad that year, with Tanki reverting to their old ways, giving tankers a 13% off discount on everything in the Garage besides product kits and Premium account items. They also added a 13% bonus to all crystal purchases. 2016 Last year was a pretty good year for Halloween. The celebrations were longer, which is always a good thing. The Halloween map was available for 8 days, starting from October 24th until November 1st. The map itself was similar to 2015's design, but had a few changes such as the addition of designated buildings for bases to accommodate to all game modes that were now supported on the map. The Gold Box was also the same as in 2014, and had a similar yet slightly edited gold siren as 2015's. The value of the Gold Box stayed at the standard 1000 crystals. There were 109 gold box drop zones, and when all the central ones were lit up, they formed a cool pumpkin design. A neat surprise by the developers. Left: Special Gold Box which dropped in the 2016 Halloween map. Right: The pumpkin design formed by Gold Boxes. There was a special Gift which you could buy for your friends in the Garage for 2000 crystals. The Gift was called 'Candies', and was, well, a pumpkin with candy. There was also the same special "Earn 3000 experience points on the Halloween map" Daily Mission. For the duration of the celebration, there were once again two paints available. One being the standard Holiday paint, which was decorative paint with pumpkins and bats, and was available in the Garage as the 'Halloween' paint for 120 000 crystals, while the 'Zombie' paint, a spooky grey and red paint, was available for €5.99 in its Shop bundle. 'Halloween' 'Zombie' Tankers wearing the Holiday paint and the Zombie paint on the Halloween map in 2016. But by far, one of the most interesting things that happened during the 2016 Halloween celebrations was the return of Godmode_ON! There was a special Event called "Running King", where Godmode_ON was the "king" wearing Wasp and Firebird and an unknown module. He'd be running around the map while trying to avoid the participants, who were using Freeze and Hornet. I personally attended the event and had lots of fun. Sales were odd that year. On the first two days it was 31% off on Modules, then it was Paints for one day, then Hulls for two days, and finally, on the sixth and seventh day there was 50% off on Turrets. Expectations For This Year Now that we've gone over the history, let's start speculating about this year. So put your Alex Jones caps on, because we're going full-on conspiracy theory mode! Themed Decorations and Special Map Let's get the simple stuff out of the way first. There's obviously going to be themed decorations; it's not a holiday without them. I'm obviously expecting the same-old grave stones and ghosts, but the question is... Where? Will Tanki make an entirely new map, or will they use the same one from last year, or make slight edits to it? Well, I hope they make a new one, and I think they will, but if they bring back the old one, I'm fine with it. Discounts and Sales I'm actually expecting 50% discounts, it just seems likely for Tanki Online's current state. Also, Cedric is gone, and we have Nives, which is great because Cedric was an evil robot sent by aliens to stop us from having sales! I got the documents right here, I swear to God it's crazy! ... Too much Alex Jones? Okay. But anyways, that's what I'm expecting. It'll probably also be split up among the days, like it was last year. Gold Boxes Well, there's definitely going to be a cool Gold Box design, but there's no way of knowing how that'll look. The value will most probably be 1 000 crystals. Tanki Online hasn't raised the value of Gold Boxes in the past couple of event, with the exception of New Years, where the value is the year (progressing one crystal every year), April Fools, where the value is... Random, and a few other events. Instead, Tanki started raising the chances of Gold Boxes dropping, which is most probably what they'll do again. If it's not that, it might be increased battle funds, which would also increase the rate of Golds. The special Gold Boxes along with their unique properties will most probably only apply on the Halloween map, and on top of that, only when they drop naturally. Gold Box supplies will remain normal. Special Offer There will obviously be a Holiday paint, which will be available in the Garage (most probably for 120 000 crystals), as well as an exclusive Shop paint, which will only be available for real money in some bundle. Other Exclusive Features I'm assuming there will be the same special Mission as the last two years, maybe with the addition of another special Mission. I'm in no contact with the Event Helpers, but there may be some cool Event like last year. With or without Godmode_ON is a separate question. Players' Opinions Now that I'm done rambling, let's here the thoughts of some of the community's well known players! Question 1 Based on passed years experiences, what do you think this year's Halloween celebration will be like? Question 2 Was there anything you had in previous years that you particularly liked, and would like to see in this year's celebrations? @Adriel.RB Question 1 I have been celebrating Halloween in TO since 2012. I'm hoping for a new map to celebrate the event, rather than adding Halloween props into an already existing map or modifying the past Halloween map. A discount on all the items in the garage, special Gold Boxes as golden pumpkins, a special paint, probably themed with clowns designs or ghosts, special Missions on the Halloween map and of course we don't want to forget the special Event! I hope this Halloween will be spookier and spectacular than the other years! ^_^ Question 2 I liked the Easter egg in the 2013 Halloween map, where there was small writing on a house that read "BEWARE OF GODMODE_ON" in red. Players were curious about that player, including myself. I also liked the little secret from the Halloween map from 2016, where the drop zone of the Gold Boxes formed a pumpkin. I would also like to hear a special background sound on the Halloween map; just a terrifying theme that would fit into the celebrations, kinda like a mix of the Banshee Boardwalk from Super Mario Kart 64 and The World of Drawcia from Kirby: Canvas Curse. :D @lukey0 Question 1 Well there will be a special Halloween map. Hopefully they create something new or at least change some things on last years map. (Although last years map was pretty spot-on) Of course there will be Gold Boxes and lots of them at that! I presume it will be a x5 drop rate over 2-3 days but they will most likely contain 1000 crystals. Then there will be the cool decorations, discounts (probably 31%), paints and hopefully a special Halloween Gold Box alarm sound. What would be cool if they introduced something cool like Godmode_ON again, or add some sort of quest like feature during the celebrations. It could all start with a sentence written in blood red paint. Question 2 One of my favorite features about Halloween would be the Gold Boxes so I hope they will keep that. It will also be very interesting this year regarding them, now that medic stops healing once you take damage. With all that open space it will feel a lot like Stadium Golds back in 2013 if they reuse the same map. Like I said above, adding some sort of quest or giving more hits about Godmode_ON would be nice, seems it feels like he's vanished lately. @The.L-E-G-E-N-D Question 1 Well honestly, I guess it would be like the past years, with the same celebrations such as the Halloween map with the increased gold boxes rate, either x10 or x5, discounts, double funds, special gifts and missions and decorations of course and maybe some crazy event with GodMode_On. Question 2 This is what I would like to see in the Halloween 2017, Special turrets like before, when there was a Pumpkin turret or the scary background theme skybox in the maps and a really totally new different Halloween map which shouldn't be that huge also, keeping the increased golds drop rate in the Halloween map only and not all the maps, and maybe, just maybe, a Ghost which appears out of no where and hunts you down while you are in the map, or when you are alone by yourself. _____________________________________________________________________________ That concludes this review. What do you think will happen this year? Will it be good or bad? Let us know anything pertaining to this article in the comments below. Have a good one! -

Interview [Issue 70] Blast From The Past Interviews: Contradiction
Yisroel.Rabin replied to Yisroel.Rabin in [Issue 70] Blast From The Past Interviews: Contradiction Newspaper Archive
Hello tankers, and welcome to 'Blast From The Past Interviews'! Here we speak to older players and helpers who have long parted from the game, in an attempt to recall a few good memories, update ourselves on how they're doing, what they're doing, and simply to get to know them if you haven't yet before. Today we're talking with @Contradiction, a former Newspaper Reporter and Wiki Editor! He'll be sharing his recent life experiences, as well as his early days in Tanki Online. Read to find out more! Player Profile Game Name | Contradiction Nicknames | Masquerade Real Name | Joseph Age | Who knows? Gender | Male Country | United States, Texas Hey Contra, long time no speak! Why don't you be so kind and give the current community players a bit of an introduction as to who you are. @Contradiction I am a former player. I used to write for the newspaper and was a wiki editor for a very short period of time. I’ve been playing TO on and off for quite a while, since 2011 I believe, but I don’t really remember anymore. Very nice. And before we continue, I'd just like to clarify for the viewers; you are NOT currently being held hostage by the Newspaper team until you obey rules we direct you to do such as to unwillingly partake in an interview? @Contradiction Nope, for sure not. I am being paid a reasonable salary of 15$ an hour. {Con, remember what we talked about?- You can't tell them. I'll have to edit this out later.} Yes, yes, of course. Now, to the interview; let's begin with the basics: How did you discover Tanki Online? How do you remember it at first and how, in your opinion, has it changed over the year? @Contradiction Some friends of mine were into the game quite a long time ago, and I noticed them playing it. My attention was piqued for a few months, but I eventually grew bored and left for a while, playing very intermittently. I remember the major rebalance that revolutionized the graphics and balance, making no weapon intrinsically superior to another. I still harbor fond memories from summers spent grabbing crystal boxes from Polygon, Highland and Desert DMs. A few years later I was dragged back in by another friend of mine, and that’s when I began playing more actively. I remember the addition of Vulcan/ Hammer turrets, micro upgrades, and many other things. The game has gotten more complex over time, which I don’t necessarily view favorably. It has been about a year and a half since I’ve played a battle in TO. I liked XP battles a lot, though I wasn’t especially great at it. Eventually the progression of ranks/equipment becomes boring, and the only thing interesting was Hornet Railgun format. Looking at the game now, I see all kinds of new things, making the game almost incomprehensible. It’s a bit disconcerting. I want the minimalistic feel of Hornet Railgun formats, not a whole bunch of unnecessary features and buttons. I hear what you're saying; even though I've joined after you, like after the major rebalance and all, I still review the changes over the year. There were positive, but definitely negative implements as well. The way I see it is, most of the ideas they've implemented are good ideas, but adding too much, (seemingly) just to keep the game moving, isn't always going to result in good. I'm personally not too confused with new updates, because although I don't play the game too often, I still follow all updates and news, and am frequently on the forum, so I know about all the major changes introduced to the game as they come, allowing me to process one update at a time. One would obviously be confused if he hasn't played since 2013 and came back with the intention of no changes at all. The game changed just as much between 2011 and 2014 than between 2015 and 2017. Anyways, moving on, what lead you to join the helpers as a newspaper reporter? @Contradiction I could say that I wanted to help the community and improve my writing skills, but I also wanted attention. I genuinely enjoy writing articles that I feel accurately explain a concept. Writing has always been a hobby of mine, and working for the newspaper and briefly for the wikipedia also allowed me to get paid in game currency. Getting out of Tanki for a second, tell us a bit about your real life self. What's currently going on in your life? What are your hobbies [i guess aside from writing]? @Contradiction I’m currently completing my final year of high school and also my final year of my Associate’s degree. Once this is completed, I plan on joining the army for a two-year active-duty enlistment, but I might take a gap year before enlisting. After the army, I will go back to college and get my Bachelor’s degree. I don’t intend on having a military career, but I’ve always wanted to join the army, and it is a very good way to pay for schooling in the US. Since I am only two years away from my Bachelor’s degree (most people coming right out of high school need four years to get their degree), joining the army for a couple years won’t put me behind my peers. All this being said, I might end up doing something completely different. You never know. I have a few hobbies that I enjoy outside of school. Obviously I enjoy writing, but recently I’ve also become interested in music production. I’ve been messing around on FL studio for about a year, and I’m in the process of making an album just for the fun of it. A few experiments can be found on my YouTube channel, if anyone is interested. I have become intrigued in creating pieces outside normal meter and using polyrhythms and non-typical tonal modes. I can also play the piano and flute. Other than music, I also compete in speech and debate. Last year I made it to the state championship. Unfortunately I was ousted from my club a couple weeks ago (it’s a long story), so now I have to find another club/league. Very impressive, looks like you've got a plan in life. I unfortunately haven't bought mine yet, I'm still in the no-life stage. I remember when you started playing around with music... You sent me a couple of homemade music files. Taking a look at your YouTube channel, you've gotten better with it. Are you still in close contact with any of your former friends at Tanki, or have you basically dropped them all? @Contradiction I’m still in contact with many friends I met from this game, but like myself, most of them have also quit playing. Over the summer I even met a friend from the game in New York City. Ah, that's pretty cool! How'd that go? @Contradiction It was pretty fun. He isn't on the forum and he hasn't played the game in years, so I won't say his game name. I'd never met this particular person in real life, but we got along surprisingly well. I met with him at 96th and 5th Avenue and we wandered around the Upper East Side and Midtown Manhattan at about 2 AM. Fortunately we didn't get mugged. Sounds fun. Do you plan on ever coming back to Tanki Online? Part-time or full-time? @Contradiction I would never come back to playing Tanki, although I still glance at the forum from time to time. If I were to come back, it would be to play Tanki X. Incidentally I am already somewhat involved in Tanki X, although I don't play frequently unless a new update comes around. Well that's too bad I suppose. Do you enjoy playing any other games aside from Tanki X? Or are you currently not into any games? @Contradiction I don't play any other games. Well, then you're a noob! Was nice chatting, thanks for doing this interview! Bye. :) @Contradiction You're welcome, bye! That brings us to the close of this interview. How was it? Who should we interview next?
