That was in fact in the Halloween issue. Issue 31 is coming out tomorrow, everyone, so take note!

They had that graphic when they released Hammer, so you might be right. I don't think they'll release Vulcan without putting it in the test server, though. Hammer paints only seems more likely. Well, let's wait and see. :)
-
The multing teammates part is annoying, but otherwise I don't think the stats need much tweaking. Hammer's limited by its very short range; if you stay out of it, you should have no problem fighting them with Thunder. On maps like Wave, sure, it's very strong, but the other close range weapons are strong there too.
-
Making paints for Hammer is a bit more difficult than it seems. The technical part is pretty easy, but I think they're trying to work out the balancing part. Balance with paints is pretty hard, since they'll probably have to adjust non-Hammer protections too. If you add a bit of Hammer protection to, say, Prodigi, it suddenly has more total protection than the other late-unlocked paints. Maybe you'll have to balance Picasso after that. Then Zeus. Then Clay, etc. That said, I'm curious as to why it's taking them more than a month to sort these out.

No scam going around here. For the past year, Thunder's been consistently destroying hulls of the same modifications in at least 3 hits. It might not be as powerful as it was originally, but it's far from weak. Adjust your tactics and you should be fine.

The post that you quoted here was from October 20th, a good 3 months ago. That was quite obviously before the rotation speed change. Speaking of the change in rotation speed, I like it. It almost feels like M3 Shaft on the test server, which is saying something. It'll take some getting used to, however.

"Useless topic" might have been a bit too blunt, but remember that it's a comment on what Loackie and Truthteller believe the quality of the topic is and not you. Don't take it as a personal insult; if you think they have a somewhat valid point, take it into account when you make your next topic. Remember, everybody gets criticism once in a while; the key is to use it to make your topics better if you think it's constructive. :) I personally think that Railgun and Thunder are very different, so it's hard to compare one to another. Railgun's great for fighting against lone enemies at long range, while Thunder is more for fighting multiple enemies at medium range.

I wonder how M2 Smoky is doing after the update. On one hand, the impact force has been reduced by a bit. On the other hand, M2 Smoky is mostly powerful because of how much damage it does, so I'm not sure if it's been affected that much. Considering how much impact force it had beforehand, it's probably still possible to deflect shots. My M1 Smoky is having difficulties now, but that's because it's a M1 against M2s, I suppose.
-
The reduced impact force is really noticeable in combat (can't flip nearly as many people), but I find that M2 Railgun is still useful for the stats.

Let’s discuss the adjusted parameters for Railgun, Smoky and Shaft

I'm not a big fan of this update. Parkour's going to be harder with the reduced impact force of Railgun (although I don't mind it that much in normal battles), and Smoky's a lot harder to use now, since impact force was a key strength. I don't think anybody was complaining about Smoky flipping light hulls, so this seems to be uncalled for. The Shaft update was alright though. -
It's mostly limited at M1 due to M1 Smoky, which isn't likely to perform especially well unless you really know what you're doing and/or you've micro-upgraded your Smoky a lot. I find that M1 Thunder works better with M1 Dictator. If it works for you, however, by all means go for it.
-
Sure. Useable at M1 and a stellar combo at M2 and M3.

This is Tanki. There is no right or wrong. If I like and want to use Isida-Mammoth on Massacre, I can use Isida-Mammoth on Massacre. Sure, it may not be as effective, but at the end of the day it's what you get out of the game that matters. If somebody loves using Shaft, who are you to say "you're not supposed to enjoy the game that way"? Live and let live. You like Railgun and Thunder, right? Feel free to steer people towards Railgun and Thunder. I don't have any problem with that. If you'll let us Shafters do the same with Shaft, we'll have no problems and no disagreements. :)

I'm looking forwards to the release of the machine gun. I like automatic weapons, but I don't like dealing with the limited range and slow projectile speed of Twins, so this ought to be interesting.

Guide [Issue 30] [Guide] The Ultimate Guide to Shaft
Thekillerpenguin replied to Thekillerpenguin in Newspaper Archive
That's strange. In my experience, the sniping mode turning speed is vulnerable to being frozen. -
I didn't have anything to do with it. Thanks for the compliment anyhow. I haven't used my Shaft for a while, since I've been using M2 Railgun as a long range weapon. Works very well in that role. I've been experimenting with using the ridge on the top of the turret as an iron sight, and it seems to have potential, especially if you "silence" it. Once I obtain M2 Hunter and M2 Shaft, I'll likely be using that combo for a good deal of my matches due to its versatility.
-
hehehe
-
That match was fun. You did surprisingly well considering that your equipment is considered second-rate.
-
It's one of the least used Shaft combos around, so understandably the number of people of people who do great with it is low.
-
Is your Viking without Double Armor just as protected as your M1 Titan? I'm guessing not, so it's not a fair comparison to apply drugs to one and not to the other. If you like to camp, M1 Titan will do the job without having to press the 2 key all the time. It served me well for quite a while. It also has great micro-upgrade potential since M2 Titan unlocks very late; a few health micro-upgrades on a M1 Titan will bring the health up to a M2 Viking's level.
-
Hornet has its merits as well. It's more resistant to impact force (as you'll often see against Hammer, Smoky and Railgun users) and has higher survivability if you're taking fire in combat. In addition, health is still important with light hulls. If I were to make a light hull that ran at 20 MPH but had 1 health point, that wouldn't be automatically better than your Wasp, no? There's a reason why people who use Wasp still micro-upgrade the health. I'd prefer a Wasp over a Hornet in general, but Hornet isn't necessarily useless either.
-
It's quite hard to aim at longer ranges. A good light hull user can dodge most of your fire if you haven't figured out how to lead your shots correctly. Mastering the bouncing feature isn't easy either.
-
Same here. You've never seen a skilled (and well equipped) Wasp-Shaft then. They're terrifying.

noosepeypurr clan reks al odder staf posicions plz On a serious note, I think all staff positions are great in their own way. Chat, Facebook, and forum mods help keep our community clean of offending users, Consultants help players out with information, and us Reporters keep the community entertained (and informed, sometimes). At least we try to. :P

The Flash version that we all know and love will still be around. They probably won't be updating it or spending much time on it, but it'll still be here for those of us that don't or can't use Unity. New ranks are a possibility, but I don't think a rebalance is going to happen. I believe the devs said they were working on an import feature that will allow you to "port" your garage and account over to the Unity version (but only once), so a rebalance would nullify that.
