Most clan wars are fought with Hornet-Railgun, so it's easy to understand why they want their members to have Railgun. Since the Starladder format was introduced, some clans are now allowing members to use Smoky. I know you like Smoky (and you're probably pretty good with it), so see if that's an option.

Review [Issue 30] Ugliness in Tanki - Rem's View
Thekillerpenguin replied to Remaine in Newspaper Archive
If someone insults you, I don't recommend insulting them back. If you decide to insult them back, they'll be extra angry at you, and they'll insult you again. The cycle repeats until somebody (sometimes both of you) gets banned/warned. At the end of the day, both of you are angry and likely somewhat upset. Instead, report the other person's post if you're sure it's an insult (it has to be an insult by the game rules if you want the mods to take action on it). Then, step away from the argument and do something else. Why would you want to waste your time on the internet getting mad at things? When people insult others, they want the target to feel bad. If you get mad/upset, well, they won, no? Stay calm, report, leave the conversation, let the mods do their job, and you'll be fine. When you're sure things have cooled down, you can go back to the conversation and continue where you left off, hopefully with a more level head. I try to follow this philosophy in life. It works out pretty well. :) -
Contest [Issue 30] Tanki Online Custom Paint
Thekillerpenguin replied to Remaine in Newspaper Archive
A lot of these paints are really stunning! Best of luck to everyone who's submitted entries. -
http://i.imgur.com/ASpAZRF.jpg Not sure if I did well because of Ricochet or because of Dictator. Probably both. Also, I think that's the highest score I've gotten so far. Lots of XP. Random comments about the battle: -Y9UULLa was using M1 Freeze and M0 Viking with Green paint. He obviously didn't do very well. I destroyed him a few times and he said something with my name in it in Russian. I don't have a screenshot of that, but I'm assuming it's an insult. Eh well. -88535729 was using M1 Railgun with M1 Hunter and Tundra. Normally, I'd be impressed by someone using that combo, but this guy was drugging even more than a lot of kit buyers. He caught a gold box, but I'm sure he used more than 1000 crystals worth of supplies. His loss, I suppose. ;) -I was initially using Dictator-Ricochet, then I switched to Dictator-Railgun. Then, I got somewhat bored, since the action was concentrated in the middle, so I switched back to Dictator-Ricochet.

Review [Issue 30] Ugliness in Tanki - Rem's View

From what I can tell, it's generally because you have a tendency to dismiss the opinions of others and occasionally resort to personal attacks and/or questionably allowed language. This tends to give people a negative opinion of you, hence a lot of disagreement and arguments. Damn_Slow hasn't used any of that here. Anyway, back to the topic. Ugliest hulls to me: -Mammoth: M2 Mammoth is the ugliest thing in the game imo. Even M2 Hornet looks better. M3 Mammy looks a bit better, but still not great. Ugliest turrets to me: -Hammer: Doesn't even look like a turret to me. Looks like a woodworking tool. -Twins: Dunno, I just don't really like the looks of it. Even at M3. Ugliest paints to me: -In Love: eww, pink -Dirty: At the very least, it resembles what it's supposed to be... -Safari: ....how about no. It's hard to find something it looks good on. -
I've only used Freeze for a little bit (when I was a WO3), but the best strategy for using it is a combination of circling and rocking. Circle your opponents so you're not in front of their turret, but change directions if you're too close to it for comfort. The best Freezes do this, and it's incredibly annoying. Hmm, that brings back some good memories. Maybe I'll get M2 Freeze when I get M2 Wasp; it's an excellent combination, really.
-
If you're only good at using it with Mammoth and on small maps, I highly doubt you really know how to use it. There's a lot more to Ricochet than getting close to your opponents and putting rounds into them until they die.
-
Don't use giant text, please. We don't know for sure. You'll have to wait. There's already a paint called Storm, so I don't think it would be a good idea to give a turret the same name.
-
Not necessarily. M1 Smoky is surprisingly good against M2 XP combos, even without micro-upgrades. M1 Hunter can also take quite a bit of punishment. With a bit of practice, it's not too hard to defeat M2 Hornet-Railguns. I've done that before.
-
^^ I like Hunter because it's incredibly versatile. Attacking? Check. Defending? Check. Going for flags? Check. Midfielding? Check. It goes well with just about any turret, and it has no obvious weaknesses. The acceleration isn't too great, but that's not a big detriment to Hunter in general.

Probably going to get it on a sale. There's a lot of good stuff to buy at Major and Captain. I'm most likely going to get M2 Thunder as well, since it's great for crowd control on maps like Polygon. Ricochet is better for a lot of purposes, but it doesn't have splash damage. Not getting Corrosion since my Sandstone has 20% Thunder, 25% Railgun, and 20% Shaft protection.
-
Can't wait until I rank to Captain to get M2 Hunter and to Major to grab M2 Shaft. My favorite Shaft combo shall become M2 someday.

It usually does, since most antivirus programs detect PUPs too. Blackopspaul, try using the Junkware Removal Tool that Kid showed you. I personally recommend you try Malwarebytes Anti-Malware if that doesn't work, since it's very thorough and will detect a lot of PUPs. If all of these don't fix your problem, find professional help. Bleepingcomputer and the Malwarebytes forum are good places to start; they'll help you out until your problem is fixed.

you didn't see anything

M1 Titan is actually the second cheapest M1 hull in the game, after M1 Mammoth. When you consider that a M1 Hunter costs around 27,000 crystals, 6,000 crystals is really nothing.

Did you run a scan with an antivirus program?

Guide [Issue 30] [Guide] The Ultimate Guide to Shaft
Thekillerpenguin replied to Thekillerpenguin in Newspaper Archive
Shaft is far easier to aim at long range (the longer the range, the easier), I'll give it that, but it's significantly harder to aim at medium and close ranges. Thanks to the laser sight update, you're going to see quite a few people approach you at both close and medium ranges. At long range, it's not necessarily easier either. Take a look at the pictures below. Here's me on a match with Hornet-Shaft. I used it at long range (as well as short and medium ranges when necessary), but I didn't camp. Most of my deaths were from my target ducking into cover while someone else (often a Railgun) took me out from a distance. Here's me on the same map with Hornet-Railgun. I used it at ranges long, medium, and close. I was in the match for about the same amount as time as the previous picture. Better, no? I actually found it easier to aim with Railgun in a majority of the situations since enemies have less time to run into cover. While the targeting itself is easier with Shaft, the other factors involved (painfully slow rotation speed, complete lack of situational awareness, etc.) generally mean that if you're good with Shaft even at medium range or closer, you probably are skilled enough to use Railgun or any other weapon effectively. I found Railgun just as easy to use as Shaft when I first picked it up. That might not be the case with other people, but ah well. -
Just upvoted it to cancel the downvote. Nothing fishy/admin aboose going on here.

Fixed. :)

Guide [Issue 30] [Guide] The Ultimate Guide to Shaft
Thekillerpenguin replied to Thekillerpenguin in Newspaper Archive
I don't think you can make a statement as generalized as that. A lot of Shaft users use other turrets (Railgun included) as well. I'm one of them. In addition, I'd like to note that with Railgun you aim mostly horizontally (the only exceptions occur when you're tilting your hull to change your vertical angle). With Shaft, you have to aim both horizontally and vertically. For some (possibly many), aiming on a 2D plane is harder than aiming on a 1D plane. -
I got M1 Dictator-Railgun at WO3 via a kit (the M1 Medium Kit that was available around August). I was able to compete (and often win) against M2s with that combination, not to mention M1s and M0s. Now that both of them are M2, M3s are less of an issue. The combo itself is great; how well you do with it depends on the user. It's a bit awkward to use at first, but once you get used to it, it's really good.
-
BTW, this isn't a "hate message". You have the right to express your opinion, and I have the right to express mine.
-
M2 Smoky is a true nightmare for your opponents regardless of the map or what hull they're using, so I'd recommend that. While M2 Shaft is just as great (well, if you really like Shaft), it's more limited in terms of use. Mostly up to you. If you enjoy Shafting more than front line combat, maybe M2 Shaft's for you. If you like making your opponents explode at close to medium range, M2 Smoky fits the bill.
