Create a Story with your Tanki Pictures!
MandolinMarc replied to MandolinMarc in Create a Story with your Tanki Pictures! Archive
We all have a stash of photos from Tanki, containing everything from our most memorable games to our greatest parkour stunts, or best moments with friends. So my challenge to you is, use your Tanki photos to create a story! Creativity and humor are welcome. I'll go first: -
That was a very charming story.

I play music.

Wow... going to make me some tanks soon! Will post photos.

Will keep an eye on the channel

A handy little change.

Even more reporters!
-
Wow... that really sucks. No, I believe it isn't possible to recover the mission.
-

Come on, you think hacking is a problem in the game? It's virtually nonexistent. A few years ago there was a market for Tanki hacks and the game almost died because playing fair was no fun anymore.

22,695 I wonder if we'll make it to a million. POTD is at 81,000

^ I wonder how long that will last...

Wow, thanks for that powerful glimpse into the depths of your soul. It's brave of you to make such a sensitive, honest commentary on your inner existence.
-
Wow, you folks are quite active!

[Issue 44] The Dumbest Anti-supply Arguments of All-Time!
MandolinMarc replied to sonofchrysalis3 in Newspaper Archive
The implication being, I take it, that you don't find more to-the-point, unapologetic advice as constructive or useful. If you'll allow me to go on a bit of a philosophical tangent here, society has come to view negative feedback as mean and insensitive. It's become socially unacceptable (in most cases) to tell someone they're badly dressed, whereas you hear people complimenting each other on their wardrobe all the time. When you tell someone they're bad at something, that's often viewed as an ad hominem attack. As a result, people "butter up" their opinions about others, delicately surrounding negative criticism with empty compliments. They sacrifice the truth just to make others feel better about themselves. I try my best not to partake in any such buttering up. And if you see this post as an insult/attack towards either Chrysalis or @Spit_Fyre, that just goes to show how we so frequently misinterpret negative criticism. -
Fair enough! In that case you might just want to make it a little more clear that the lists aren't hard and fasts rules, they're just hulls/turrets that you've found tend to work better. Or instead of listing them in a definitive way, you could write a paragraph or two about the best/worst turrets and hulls on this map on why.

As others have said above, you'll need to contact help@tankionline.com, since only they are able to access information about your account like crystal balance, which will allow them to verify this problem. Just head over to Gmail and create a new email address; it takes no more than two minutes.

How does this relate to Tanki...

Sounds like a fun project, I'll enter it if I find the time, which I should be able to.

[Issue 44] Three Ways to be the Exemplary Tanker
MandolinMarc replied to Phoenix-Warbird in Newspaper Archive
Nice start Pho! You've got a very distinct writing style -- you don't use any direct humor, yet your writing feels light and candid. Don't let anyone change that. In other words, don't start forcing direct humor into your writing because you see that technique used well by another reporter with a different writing style. -
[Issue 44] The Dumbest Anti-supply Arguments of All-Time!

To be honest with you Chrysalis, I loved your writing before you became a reporter candidate, but I feel you've just gotten a bit carried away after becoming a repoter. First off, you've gotten a bit carried away with the humor. There's way too much easy humor in this article (references to other reporters, for example). There's no need to force humor into every sentence. You've also gotten carried away with your own opinions. Newspapers should primarily consist of objective reports and reflections upon the subject of the newspaper (in this case, TO and its community). The exception to this is opinion pieces, which should be done in a way that is respectful, logical, and sees both side of the argument even if it ends up favoring one of them. LaserShark put it well: And finally, this article is just way too long. Remember that story you did on your little sister getting her account stolen from her? It was so short, yet so beautiful and so powerful. Longer does not equal better. So my advice for you would be reflect on your roots as a Tanki writer and on what your purpose is as a Reporter of the English TO community.- 167 replies

^ This! One of my biggest worries with the TO Newspaper is it's started to get a bit disconnected from the game of Tanki itself and from its mission to report on the game+community. It's really refreshing to see a great article like this about the game itself that we can all relate to. The pictures make it awesome, as do the words hither and thither. Keep it up Night!
