Anniversary topic: 10 years since my first account creation in the game.
PirateSpider replied to PirateSpider in Anniversary topic: 10 years since my first account creation in the game. Off-Topic Discussion
So not many of you know this, but the month of February in 2024 marks 10 years since my very first account was created in tanki. And wow, its been a hell of a ride. So much has happened since then, I'll just list the beginning bits and an insight of what I've been experiencing year by year. Beginning: The first account I created was Killer2_the_best (unoriginal, I know, I wasn't very creative back then). I remember my very first battle was Fort Knox DM. I don't remember how well I did in that battle, just thought it was fun for a free game, so I kept playing. Funny thing is that I had a big speaker hooked up to my computer, and every time I got shot by a thunder, it would "shake the whole house" as we would call it. My dad ended up unhooking the speaker. ? Speaking of thunder, it became my favorite turret when I got it along with Viking for hulls, and it was with this combo I started to learn how to turn my turret. It was just cool that I could come home from school, start demolishing everyone, and have fun doing it. 2014: I remember briefly enjoying the Abyss map before it got replaced by skyscrapers and rio. Many times I would stay up late and enjoy grinding for crystals, and chat with online friends. Placed 3rd in the FIFA world cup event, and got about 100 of each supply( which was actually meaningful back then). Blew through them in about an hour, lol. Got my first set of M1s. (Before they were MKs, they were M. So instead of being mk1 mk2 mk3 mk4 mk5 mk6 and mk7, they were just m0 m1 m2 and m3.) 2015: Played alot of xpbp type of battles, usually in the Monte Carlo map, they were pretty fun. I remember losing to an m2 while I was using m0 by just 1 point in a 1v1. I created a second account for it originally, little did I know that it would eventually become my main. I also remember seeing missions during this time. Didn't like the Halloween mission, probably because it was too much to accomplish in a single day. Managed to get my first m2 turret. 2016: I first joined the forum pretty late in the year. The global update happened with mixed responses. I learned about the importance of sales. Managed to get my first set of M2s on my second account. 2017-2018: These were pretty much the best years I've had in the game. The game was still pretty decent and was very active in the forum which was fun. Alterations (before they turned into augments) was a cool concept, and they were fun reading about and learning. 2019: Reached the rank of LT general on my main. Would stay on that rank for the next 2 years. Managed to get my first set of M3s. 2020: Managed to fully upgrade the M3s. Left the game later on that year. 2021: Came back to the game after a 6 month hiatus in the start of june. My main reached the rank of general after 2 years of remaining on LT general, largely in part due to the increased XP. Left again for a year. 2022: Came back just in time to get the massive TOA apology. So a free Viking XT skin. 2023: Participated in alot of battle passes, which got me some good stuff including a thunder XT skin. The battle passes also gave me the crystals which allowed me to expand my collection of Mk7s and drones and maxxing them out on sales. Participated in my first fund and 2 more after that, was just disappointed. Reached the rank of legend on my main in around spring or summer. 2024 and currently: I'm on hiatus again. Wanted to do a few more things like write this topic, check the next fund, and wait and see what the devs will do between now and about 4-6 months before deciding to call it a day on my time in tanki. Honorable mentions: @Maf been a forum mod for at least longer than I've been a member of the forum. @Spy, for taking on the difficult tasks of forum administrator solely on his shoulders. @NikmanGT for trying to clean up the forum and getting it back to being a welcoming environment for all. @Dopamine for his insight, experiences, etc. @TheCongoSpider and @wolverine848 for all the numerous discussions over the years. The next anniversary topic I might write about would be "10 years as a forum member" in about 2 and a half years. Anyway, that's all I have to write about this topic. Any questions? -
Thanks. I've decided to write it in the Off topic. Currently a WIP.

I find other things that take away the enjoyment faster than blaster: • status augments (specifically ones that inflict EMP, AP, stun. Including pulsar) • hybrid augments (ex: assault magazine, helios, hydra, etc.) • people abusing groups. • horrendous servers of the game. • the Mismatchmaking system. Oh ok, my bad. I guess then just keep your distance.
-
Just keep your distance or equip a maxed defender drone.

I dont know man. The cheetopuffs and the outlaws dont seem too far behind.

Lol. Why does my popcorn eating GIF keep getting deleted? Surely no one can get offended by it, right?

Question about writing an anniversary topic.
PirateSpider replied to PirateSpider in Question about writing an anniversary topic. Archive
So the month of February this year marks 10 years since I created my first account in the game. And I would like to make a topic dedicated to it. Should I write it into the "Game Discussion" thread or would it be more appropriate to write it in "Off-Topic"? -
valid When the overdrive recharge is at 50%, make it possible to activate a less useful "mini-overdrive" ability
PirateSpider replied to demon09 in Ideas and Suggestions
Maybe hornet can just have radar ability? Viking gets 3 or 4 seconds of faster shooting. Paladin can just heal. Dictator can just heal. -
The 8.7k is a true example of MisMatchMaking, where the system doesn't do its job properly. Mr. 933 is the real definition of your favorite word "MatchFaking" or in some cases "MatchSabotaging" where they have a ridiculously low GS for their rank, they post proof and complain about it not realizing that they're being part of the problem.
-
Spend your money elsewhere. Somewhere that actually deserves it. That's what I've been doing these past 2 months.
-
I had to look up on the wiki for the functions of pulsar and AP immunity to see if this was true. Based off that, I would have to agree.

If you're short on tankoins, then probably not. If you have plenty to spare, then go ahead and see if you'll get points on a daily basis regardless of activity. Maybe once you find out, you can let the rest of us know so we can make our own judgement. But since the announcement isn't very clear, and no one on discord was very helpful when I asked around. I'm just gonna assume that you'll have to complete missions everyday to be eligible to earn the points.

update Patch Update #752 - Released 16th February 2024

I would've just made it like this: 3 minutes into the battle = up to 3 stars Every 4 minutes after that gives an additional 1 star Plus an extra star if the player used the quick battle button. This way no player gets punished for a short battle while the prolonged battle provides better rewards. -

I'm having more fun not playing the game than I ever did when I was playing it. -
Honestly, I think the forum can be popular and a friendly place again if its aimed at the right kind of people.

I seriously doubt you find two or more random healers in a team per battle very often though. Unless of course he's protected against your preferred or ideal turret. Also why do they need to target only you when there's plenty of other fish to choose from? Dictator OD, paladin OD, EMP immunity, keeping my distance, or simply killing you before you activate OD. Only to possibly be put into another battle with a different group.
-
For isida players, its usually common sense to be behind the person you're healing. Furthermore, if they want to be more coordinated, discords voice calling helps them out much more effectively than chat messages. Also, healers can also choose healing emitters for shaft or healing nanobots for thunder for healing at a distance if they have them. There's also a few ODs with healing capabilities. Either of these outcomes would be fine. How many of those healers are actually randoms and not grouped? From my experience, a team with more than one healer, is usually a group. Barely 1% chance that its just 2 random healers that got lucky to be on the same team. Jug 2.0 could equip the necessary protections and drones against that augment. If their healers are nearby and have OD ready, they can use their OD to counter yours. So you just want a half-arsed solution?
-
More often likely than not is the direct result of groups.. A team with random healers are much less organized and coordinated than a team with grouped healers. I've even seen at least a few instances where a group of non healers can easily dominate the battle. Even if you remove healing the jug, the consequences will be: 1) grouped and random healers will just look for the next strongest player and heal them essentially turning them into juggernaut 2.0. 2) grouped non healers can still easily dominate the battle. 3) other game modes will still be prone to 1 and 2. 4) Players will just focus solely on trying to kill the enemy jug regardless of how fast their own is dying. The objective is to try to keep your teams jug alive for as long as possible while trying to kill the enemy jug. So its a lose-lose-lose-lose situation. If we really want a solution, then it would be to remove groups or at least significantly nerf their capabilities.

IMO, mismatchmaking sounds better. We could even abbreviate it to MMM.

Or you can just drop by every week or so as simply a member for the time being until you are ready to leave for good.

update Patch Update #751 - Released 19th January 2024

Actually, if there were no rules in the forum, then more flame wars will happen and they will last a lifetime because no one will have the power to stop them. Everyone will just be more toxic. Speaking of which, the reason why everyone is so toxic on the forum these days is not because of the rules. But because in the last few years, the forum has seen a huge increase in the type of people who apparently wasn't raised right or werent taught to be respectful. If it gets added back, I'm turning off my reaction notifications. It was so annoying back in 2021 to get my inbox bombarded with the shrug reaction by a group of people every day just because they didn't like me. -

And that only just seems to be proven more and more true each time, especially since they decreased the pause time to just 1 minute. You know, the devs will say all these encouraging things in various ways, but its really just an attempt to get the players off their backs. I have already stopped playing their dead game for more than a month and have been enjoying my evenings again. -
valid The nuclear energy box should not be missing in CP, SGE and RGB versions of maps
PirateSpider replied to what_no2000 in Ideas and Suggestions
Maybe the box is actually on the map during those modes, just hiding in forbidden places?
