Tommy60 replied to Tommy60 in [Issue 4] What Map is it? Newspaper Archive
Tankmen! For those of you who claim to know every map: Here is a challenge for your memory! Here are three pictures gathered from three different maps in the game. Name each one in a PM to Tommy60. The prize for this edition is 600 crystals for all three maps! Note: You must list all three maps in order to win! There were no winners for Issue 3's edition of this contest. Congratulations go to myself, for making it so difficult! The maps were, in descending order: Molotov, Brest ll, and Highland. -
Sorry, I have been overwhelmed by the amount of work that has been put in front of me, both in Tanki and in real life. Please restate the questions.

Guide [Issue 4] Parkour for Battle
Tommy60 replied to Tommy60 in [Issue 4] Parkour for Battle Newspaper Archive
Parkouring for Battle Many players know what parkour is; the act of a person or many persons to reach an otherwise unreachable place. An example of this in Tanki is climbing over the slanted walls on the side of nearly every map in the game. While most players take this as an activity separate from battle, a few, skilled ones can use it as a significant advantage in battle. In this article, I will list four areas on three maps that can be accessed with the efforts of two tanks or less. Enjoy! Map: Highland Position 1: With: Thunder and Ricochet: Drive your tank up the ramp to the elevated plateau. Drive your vehicle into the wall, until it becomes parallel with the wall itself. Face your turret into he ground, shoot repeatedly, and drive upwards simultaneously. Railgun: Unless aided by another tank, railgun users can get to only the other side of the wall, on the same altitude as the rest of the plateau. Make sure that you go to the very corner, where there is a small gap between the two walls. This is possible by paralleling your tank with the wall’s slope, shooting toward the ground, while pressing the keys that you would use to drive upward and toward the gap between the walls. Once your tank is in the gap, point your railgun toward the area that you just came from, and shoot and drive until you find yourself out of the gap. Then, simply shoot the ground to get back on your treads. Snipe away at the end of the thin wall! Shaft + all other weapons : It is impossible to get to these places unless another tank is used as a ‘ramp,’ for the other to drive on top of. Most Effective Weapons: For the upper level: Shaft --- Lower level: Thunder Position 2 : With: Hornet or Wasp (Any turret) : Drive up the ramp to the other elevated plateau in the map, and go toward the edge of the red house in the corner. Staying on the ledge, turn around the corner and drive to the gap between the two houses. Thunder or Ricochet : Use the same method used to reach the other spot; Shoot the ground and drive up. Mind your energy bar! You may die if you hit yourself too many times. Most Effective Weapon : Thunder Map:Kungur Position : With: Thunder and Ricochet : This position is accessible in two ways. Firstly, climb up any of the perimeter walls by using the common method of shooting the ground while driving upwards. After that, continue to drive around the outer wall until you reach either end of the highest elevated wall, located behind the red team’s base, if you are playing in a CTF or TDM game mode. Go up the wall with the previously mentioned method. All other weapons : Use various ways to pile tanks on top of each, then drive up to each obstacle. If three tanks are on top of each other, then the top two should be able to reach the top of the wall. Going to the final wall, the top tank should be able to reach the final level, where he can be a serious pain for the Red team. It is one of the best parkour-able spots in the game. Best weapon : Thunder Map :Silence II Position : This position should be used only by shafts, so I will not bother to list how other weapons are supposed to get there. : The preferable tank for this position is shaft, because of its high health, stability, and lower-than-average height. Mammoth is acceptable, too. First, drive up to the first brown tube. Then, with the end of the tank that is farthest from the pipe, turn it off the edge of the cliff. Drive backwards slightly, until your tank leans to about forty-five degrees form the ground that you were just on. Quickly, drive your tank toward the tube. If you need to, turn your turret around and shoot at the ground below. You may need to repeat this process of “worming,” multiple times, before you finally find yourself in position on top of the tubes. Once there, go to the farthest corner, and snipe with confidence, since nobody can sneak up behind you. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ -

Other [Issue 4] History of: The Gold Box
Tommy60 replied to Tommy60 in [Issue 4] History of: The Gold Box Newspaper Archive
The battlefield is a dizzying mixture of shells, lasers, treadmarks, explosions, and tanks overdosed with battle supplies. In the distance, you can see a golden sparkle lightly tread down to the ground, on board a parachute. Everyone stops what they are doing, and makes a mad dash to the drop sight. Those who have not already activated their supplies have just done so, engines roaring with nitrogen oxide, and weapons a-blazing. Waiting under the glorious crate, many are destroyed. At last, a lucky winner shouts a sound of victory, only to be annihilated in the ensuing moment by his angry peers. A typical gold box scenario. History of: The Gold Box Beyond the lower ranks of tankers, the gold box is a common conversation piece of Tanki Online. The sight of one brings excitement, hope and happiness to all. It has become one of the most desired commodities on the battlefield. But how did it come into the game? Has it always held one-hundred crystals within its wooden boards? Read on! When the game was first started a few years back, there was no such thing as a gold box. Why should have there been one at all? There was no reason to have one drop, at a designated fund or at random. Of course, something had to happen, or we would not be enjoying the thrills of the gold box today. A little over two years ago, during a Russian holiday, the developers wanted to give their players a special treat. What better than a golden box worth one-thousand crystals? It seemed too generous, though. So it was decided to have the box drop randomly between the battle funds of 700 to 726. The box had a tremendously high approval rate. Yet another victory for the scheming Tanki Lords! Within a week, however, the “gold boxes,” as they were called, stopped falling onto the battlefield. Players were outraged for weeks! At last, the box was brought back, and to its normal parameters; same worth, same time for dropping, etcetera. After a time though, it was noted that the game was losing a small percentage of its normal income. The loss was traced back to the boxes, which were now realized to be containing a ridiculous amount of in-game currency (Crystals.) The boxes’ values were cut by ninety percent, resulting in them being worth a measly one-hundred crystals. The players were upset for quite some time, but eventually realized that they should be happy with the presence of a gold box at all. Profits for the game continued to increase at their normal rate. This ‘era’ of gold boxes lasted for well over a year and a half. In the English and Russian forums, players from all the ranks competed against each other in races to see who could gather the most gold boxes. The fund of 700 was considered a special time in battle, where most players would flood to the ‘drop spot’ of the box, while the dedicated players who started the battles, would take side routes, capturing flags to increase their chances of winning funds that made he gold box seem tiny and unimportant. In the end, some players had amassed well over two-hundred golden boxes. Eventually, the dubbed ‘golden era,’ had ended. Along with an update that changed the frequency of supply drops in the game, the gold box was to be expected to fall anytime during gameplay. Many longtime gold hunters grew angry, since they could no longer be sure of when their prey would come. While some players said that the update was to make the game more fair for all, their counterparts argued that there would be some players who would stay in the same spot throughout an entire game, refusing to help their team until the gold box had fallen. While both sides had valid arguments, the developers never changed their decision on the gold box, and it has remained that way since. -
Yes, and it must follow all the requirements listed in the contest topic.

Cablaz has left this game. Pictures are fine, as long as they are made by the author. A reporter needs to have extensive knowledge of the English language.

Can't wait to face off against you guys! See you in battle!

Because he is not, and you yourself in fact are, due to your lack of popularity in the General section of the forums. Why am I going on vacation tomorrow?
