I disagree...why should we have to use crystals? If someone takes time to freely contribute their time to design maps for the community, why should THEY be punished? That's backwards thinking. Back in the day, ID software had a hit on their hands with the original Quake games, and the ability for users to mod and create maps that were used by millions of people in the original Team Fortress. It MADE Id Software as a company! That model has been used many times over by others for a reason. Everyone benefits from the growth of a community! I understand making people sign non-disclosure agreements, that's just good business sense, but for gods sake don't discourage people from contributing their time and effort! No one is suggesting giving away the flash based game engine, just making a map / level editor freely available and useable, as far as I know Keep in mind, growth = $$ for the game designers and distributors. Free maps designed by the community = growth, therefore : more user designed maps = growth = $$ for game designers! (all maps are distributed by the game servers anyhow, so the model supports it easily) Just my 2c (or 0.586080586 roubles) :lol: :lol: :lol: Making maps is free and doesn't even require signing an NDA anymore, so I am not sure what you're complaining about. Ok, therussian GT, Why don't you stop wrongfully bullying someone who was being supportive of the idea, and actually help us all on this thread by telling us how to get the editor and what to do with the maps we make? Or are YOU just complaining?

It would be helpful to have co-located servers that are in North America, for example, that may help with load balancing for times when ping times are high to other servers.

It kind of depends, while Blasterz has a point about lag, I don't think he fully gets it. Lag (high pings to server) MAY cause connection issues, it may not be YOUR connection that is the problem. It also happens when the servers are overloaded and can't handle the traffic. I have seen it happen. I have seen many times (last night for example) servers slow to a crawl as people in the game jump all over the place, etc. I don't think the servers are located at various locations, so load balancing just does not seem to exist, imho Also, if you do connect, but it still stays gray, that is a known bug, despite what Blasterz says. All I can say is I just left a game that was almost entirely isida's and it was boring as hell! They just sit there in pairs healing each other as they kill and harvest flags. Wow, could it be less fun? Even an M3 railgun can't win with too many pairs of Isida's. It will be the death of Tanki Online, imho

I think that happens when the player has clicked "play" to join the game, but the map is still loading. Maybe, but I have notied this bug. With all due respect, I think you misunderstand. This problem is one where a person stayed transparent during the whole game, for over an hour, never moved or responded to chat. The reason its a problem is because CTF games try to stay balanced with respect to even number of players on both sides. If one side has 7 players, and the other side shows 7 players but one of them is either stuck, or whatever, then its actually a game where one side has 7 players the other 6, effectively. Its unfair. The server should sweep the game for stuck or time players out to avoid camping and this type of bug, imho.

I sent a bug report about the following: Player Damos was in a game as if he was spawning (transparent) for the whole game, never played, over an hour. This was a CTF game, and it unbalances it, because it left us 1 player short, even though 6 v 6 was showing. I am not sure if this is a bug, but it sucks. Too bad players can't be kicked by anyone, or auto kicked if they don't fully spawn, or if they just sit there for an hour. Even other team couldnt shoot him because he was transparent.

Might not be fun for you, but sure is fun for me! :twisted: I like the m3 smoky the way it is, variety is what makes the game fun. If EVERYONE ends up with dictator / m3 isida's , that would be boring! Also, your getting outgunned because your twins shootout all over the place, landing a few, while a well aimed smoky can land each shot. Skill favors the smoky over the twins, not because its more powerful. PS: Frankly the noise the twins make is really really annoying, but like I said - to each their own

So, your saying its a known bug, but it can't be fixed. nice attitude. :roll: I was trying to be helpful by asking , and for your information, I HAVE sent bug reports in. I just wanted to know what was going on. With the "bug report icon" all it does is ask what the problem is, and hit send (with or without picture). Perhaps OTHER people have the same problem and would like to discuss it or help each other, rather than hiding bugs secretly in the background. I am not a developer, nor am I beta testing this. I am a user / player and just want to know why stuff doesn't work. I assume some of the dev's look here and are helpful as well as would like feedback from the players. But you seem to think otherwise. I described what has been happening, and my experience in detail, there is not much more to say or add to that. I guess I'll take your advice and assume it just wont be fixed, and go elsewhere.........thanks for the friendly forum discussion, it really helps the experience here, (sarcasm) I'm sure others will agree As for it being a "bug", well, there is not much to log I think, since it doesn't crash or "error" out, it simply seems to not let me take a flag sometimes. Am I supposed to send a "bug report" saying "can't take flag, it won't let me even though our flag is set at our base" over and over? Are you a developer here "Mehrdad Sanjabi (aka Mehdadoo) kolhoz™"?

Ok, is this a bug, or is there some cheat going on? Last 2 days, many times when I am in the lead, I can't take the enemy flag :evil: , even though our flag is still at base. I drive right thru it over and over and eventually give up, and am killed. Immediately AFTER I die, someone else on my team "gets" or even "captures" enemy flag, game goes on, I try again, same problem. It has happened on different servers and at different times. Even on games that are fairly empty (4 players) and with no lag. Either this is a really big annoying bug, or there are cheats or hacks being used. If it IS a bug, is there anything being done about it?

Well, good news! I tried again after the latest server reboot, and everything seems better. I had no problems connecting to CTF maps and have not gotten a single "fatal error" so far :) I'm glad I didn't burn all my resources to try and fix what was obviously a server side issue. I hope that's the last of the gray screen / fatal error stuff I noticed that the Fort Knox map has changed a bit. Is this changed map related to the problems we had?

Update: I tried to create a battle as suggested, but could not because I still get "fatal error - please reload" when I try to join the battle I created !

It happens randomly, but all the time. here are some more details I hope helps the developers: ---------------------------------------------------------------- I can, on occasion, connect to a game, however 9 times out of 10 I can connect to the main tankionline.com page and select a server, and wait for resources to load, then instead of a battles list and chat etc, it just gives up that pop-up fatal error - please reload ! Every once in a while it actually loads the battles page and then its wait for a slot to open up. about 90% or more are full. When I DO get to that point, its about another 1 in 10 chance of actually hitting "play" and connecting to a game without it giving up that error again! No, I dont have any "two icons" for anything, but thats only the rare occasion that I CAN connect to see my garage. (I do seem to have a few extra double armor / double powers than I think I had last night... Please note: I have tried Firefox 3.5.5 (mac) and have tried Chrome and even Safari. Same exact results with ALL 3 I have cleared all local data (cookies, cache, etc) and it made no change My notes: Before today, I played for days without ever seeing this problem. Then there was a server overload or whatever yesterday, and now this (people had huge lag etc, not same as this pop-up error message) Yesterday there was 4 servers to choose from, today 3 Yesterday there was always open slots available to play (even CTF Fort Knox) now almost ALWAYS full, when I can get far enough to see the battle list That is an interesting idea, but before I go and burn any resources, I'm not sure I get what you mean. I have "double" resources double power (I have 9x) and double armor (8x) should I create a battle and then use all of them up? Who do I contact about this problem and how to get them back? ( doesn't seem like much but I have just started playing and need all I earn, I am not buying them I earn my crystals :) ) Specifically, what do I burn / use up? Who should be contacted about this? With no changes on my part, how come I had no probs before, but do now. What can I do to avoid this from happening?

After clearing cache, login info, cookies etc, I tried again, same results... sometimes it may load the stuff and let me see garage, but can never play At this point it's not playable suddenly after days of playing. :x

I am having this problem also. Not only on CTF maps, but it just gave me that fatal error trying to load the list. I picked server 2 "http://tankionline.com/battle-en2.html" and it didnt load, just fatal error. I could not look at my garage or battles etc I just tried again, results: 1) I logged in and picked server 1 (508 players) 2) It properly loaded garage and resources etc. 3) My resources look normal, no problems with items like smokey etc 4) Almost all battles were full, no CTF battles were available to play (grey) 5) went back to main screen and picked server 3 (486 players) 6) Nothing loaded, just "Fatal error occurred, please, reload the page" :? :? :? :? :? :? note : I am in the US Reloading the page - it loads resouces, then error, no garage, battles etc top right toolbar not clickable
