    Let's Discuss Railgun!

Not an official resource, so don't take it for granted. I can tell you for a fact that the bit about minimum damage at a shallow angle is wrong.

    Micro Upgrades

As said above, buying full upgrades for any weapon is a lot more expensive than waiting for the next modification to unlock and buying just that. In the future if you want to ask a question about the game, please refrain from creating new topics and use the officialhttp://help.tankionline.com Q&A site. Closed.

    Let's Discuss Railgun!

My explanation - yes, true for all guns with a minimum damage and maximum damage range. The whole thing about damage being affected by which part of the tank you shoot does not apply to any gun.

    Let's Discuss Railgun!

    P. S. The angle at which you hit the tank doesn't affect the damage you deal, but it does affect the direction of the force with which your shot pushes the tank you hit. This has been well explained in V-logs and numerous guides, but basically if you hit the tank in the middle, they will most likely only get pushed back slightly, however if you hit the corner, then you can turn their tank and completely change the direction they are facing, or even flip them or force them to drive off a cliff, if they were moving or in the middle of a jump when you shot them. This is particularly useful for Railgun, since it has the highest knockback of all turrets and can be used to knock enemies aim off or disrupt their movement.

    Let's Discuss Railgun!

Guys, the angle or the place on the enemy tank that you hit has absolutely no effect on the amount of damage dealt. I hid all your posts as they will be misleading to anyone else that reads this topic. The damage Railgun deals is random and fluctuates according to the rules of normal distribution. That means that in its potential damage range (133 to 199 for M3+) the more common damage values will be the ones closer to the middle value (166). The graph of damage distribution would look like this: So imagine that instead of the -4SD you have the minimum damage value (133). Then at 0SD you have the medium value (166), and at +4SD you have the maximum value (199). The percentages show how likely you are to get a value in that range every time you shoot. So getting the close-to-average value (around 125 to 139 damage) is will be almost 70% of your shots, while getting close to the minimum or maximum value will be only 0.2% of your shots, or 1 in 500. Basically, the closer a value is to the maximum or minimum of the range, the less often is will come up. Therefore most of your shots will be around 133 damage and the high or low values will be a lot more rare. Another aspect of reducing Railgun's damage is shooting through tanks. In this case we need to look at the penetration values of the gun. For M3 with full MU it's very simple - 100% penetration means that the second tank in line gets the same amount of power from the shot as the first one, as if the first tank wasn't even there. With lower grades it's more complicated, because not all damage from the shot goes through to the next tank. I'll use Railgun M2 as an example, since that's what Pig.Mann has in his garage. Let's ignore all the damage distribution mess and assume that Rail M2 always deals 112 damage. This means that the first tank he shoots will get 112 damage, but the second tank in line will only get 61 damage from the same shot, because the penetrating power of Rail M2 is 55%. If there is a third tank in line, then the third one will get 34 damage. The fourth will get 18, fifth - 10, sixth - 6 and so on. That way you can only destroy about 6 or 7 tanks on very low health if you shoot them using Rail M2, but with M3+ you can shoot as many as you can fit in one line :) I hope this answers your question.

    Gold Box drop locations

So apparently the gold can drop somewhere on this platform on Skyscrapers: http://tnkscr.net/cRzZWy.jpg It was really hidden since nobody picked it up for a full minute after the siren (if not longer). I asked the guy who got it to show me where it was, but unfortunately he only gave a vague description.
  8. Not anymore. We now have an Archive section, so it will probably be moved to there.
  9. Easier said than done. Moving a tower as high as 8 tanks is already nearly impossible due to the fact that you can't control the acceleration of your tank. The only way to move slowly is by lightly tapping the keys, but if you do that, then the jerking of your tank will amplify up to the top of the tower and the higher tanks will find it extremely difficult to hold on. Not to mention lags, which can cause tanks to randomly teleport inside the tower, causing the whole thing to collapse. That's why the 24 tank pile-up was done in Esplanade - it was the only map, which allowed players to press themselves up against a corner for stability. You won't find a high enough corner on any other map.
  10. Fixed the line-up video record. For some reason the link was disappearing instead of being turned into a watchable video. For reference:
  11. You can forget about these. The only time a lot of people gather on the forum is when something really big actually happens. Like an update everyone hates (so lots of people log in to post hateful comments :D) or when there is some really important info on the forum, such as tournament rules. We might be able to do the staff one, but again - I doubt it. I like the idea of beating other group records. You can even maybe come up with some new interesting ones that could be added. But if you think this will be easy - you are very mistaken. The 24 tank tower (and yes, it's 24 and not 27) was the winning submission for the official Tanki Tower contest. The only way you can beat it is if you build it on an even bigger map (Skyscrapers only fits 20) and have a VERY good team with you, most of whom are able to talk in a voice conference, or at least listen. Trust me - I tried the Tanki Tower and it's really difficult. I'm pretty sure that the 40 tank line-up has been achieved multiple times, mostly by players wanting to do a rank-up with railgun by killing 39 tanks with one shot. I'll add the record if I find a video of that.

Green also means "almost completed", so it's not a problem if there's a few spots missing.

You're right. I thought it was almost complete when I marked it green. Changed to yellow for now.
  14. Age does not make the game better. In fact, it makes it worse. Flash is outdated, I think some browsers stopped or limited its support and it's generally just a paint in the back to work with. This is why developers made a new game in Unity - it's easier to work with and doesn't have as many bugs. I'm pretty sure that some things are literally impossible to fix due to the way the game engine processes data it receives. I never played WoT, so I can't argue with you about the way they deal with lag, but from what you described, it looks like their game engine has a completely different way of dealing with lag and I doubt that this can be changed in Tanki Online because it's probably just a problem related to Flash itself. P.S. I don't know about you, but from my experience the anti-cheat only kills me when I'm lagging or when I'm on top of another lagger. Sure, it's unfair that normal players get killed because of laggers, but again - the players are a the problem here, since if there weren't any laggers, there wouldn't be false self-destructs. The only time when the anti-cheat is actually wrong is on Madness, when you jump from the top and die in mid-air if you shoot with Smoky or Thunder.

    About moderators

Hello. I merged your topic with the official topic regarding lag and crashes in the game. This means that your topic is now one of the replies in the bigger topic. This is done so that all similar discussion is kept in one place and not spread out in random small topics in different sections of the forum. In this case, it will allow developers to get all information players have about experiencing game lags from one topic so that it will be easier to work with. This is how you can find your topic if it gets merged: 1. Click on your nickname in the top-right corner 2. Click on "My Content" 3. On the left, select "Only posts" 4. Find the content you posted 5. Click on the post number in the top-right corner of the post (e.g. #4958363) 6. Look at the top-left corner of the page and see where your post is. (e.g. http://tnkscr.net/MmkpEp.jpg) Since in your topic you didn't have any specific suggestions on how problems should be fixed, there was no point keeping it. Developers are aware that some of the things in their game are broken and/or need improvement, you don't need to tell them vague things like "fix the anti-cheat system". If you have any more questions about this, feel free to contact me in PM. That topic is a duplicate of an identical topic on the Russian forum, created by . At the moment it's just a discussion, but when developers actually decide to work on improving game balance, that's when they may come and read the topic to collect players' suggestions. If I were to keep your topic on its own, it would get a couple replies and then be forgotten, never to be seen by developers. If you have any complaints about moderators' actions, please send a PM to the appropriate administrator. Closed.
  16. This is impossible to fix. Every online game has it and it's not the developers' fault. I explained it many times before - this is caused by internet connection delay on the user's end and Tanki developers have no control over it. The server is calculating the hits correctly and there is never a problem with a hit dealing damage despite actually missing its target. The only way for you to completely remove this glitch is if all players in your battle connect directly to Tanki servers in the Netherlands, which obviously isn't going to happen. Therefore we just have to deal with it. The anti-cheat system is working fine. The only reason you don't think it's effective is because you don't actually see it in action. It stops hackers playing completely, blocks many cheats from working and disables various third-party access to the game. If there was no anti-cheat at all, then every single battle would be taken over by hackers and it would be impossible to play. So we should be thankful for what it does do, instead of complaining about its weaknesses. Sure, there are still some hackers in the game, with new hacks that the anti-cheat has not yet been designed to block yet. It's an ongoing battle that will never end. hackers will develop new cheats and TO devs will improve the anti-cheat system. There will never be a point when the anti-cheat will be so good that the game will be impossible to hack. Again, this is just the player's fault. The anti-cheat already self-destructs players, who are lagging too much (and get an advantage because of lag) and it forces lagging players to drop enemy flags so that they can't teleport away from it. Not everyone can afford a good internet connection, so making it any more strict would completely prevent thousands of players from playing the game. What if the system would instantly kick anyone, whose ping goes above 50ms? Sure, many players with good ping (myself included) would be enjoying lagger-free games, but thousands of players (maybe even you) would basically get banned from playing the game. Would you be happy if that happened to you? You can't say that something is taking too long unless you actually have experience with these things and know how time-consuming coding and bug fixing is. If you do have such experience and actually know that this is a simple issue, then you are welcome to contact the developers and perhaps give them advice that would help them find a solution faster. If not, then I strongly recommend that you don't complain that something takes too long to do just because it "looks simple".

    Tanki World Records

OK, since it was during the April Fools celebrations and this was a triple gold, I'll add it to Archive because it was easier to get two golds like that compared to a normal day.
  20. Adequacy is, but by now pretty much everyone knows that "hay ka" is an Armenian greeting.
  21. In my opinion the actual amount of turrets in the game is pretty balanced now. Most guns are equally popular overall, maybe with the exception of Freeze being rare and Isida too popular. Sure, on some maps certain guns are more common than others, but on average they are about the same.
  22. "Без вторых скачков". Уверен что последнее слово именно так пишется?

    Warning points

Hello Warning points are a friendly punishment system used on the forum. If you break a rule on the forum that is not quite bad enough to give you a ban, then we might give you a warning. The warning is given for you to know that you did something wrong so that you don't make the same mistake again, since many players violate rules without even knowing it. The warning stays there so that if you break rules later, we will be able to check how many warnings you got and if you have too many warnings for the same violation, then we will give you a ban. There is no specific threshold on how many points you can receive before you get banned, but if you learn from your mistakes and don't break the same rules over and over, then you have nothing to worry about. :) In the future if you want to ask a question about the game, please refrain from creating new topics and use the officialhttp://help.tankionline.com Q&A site.
