Some message asking us whether we're sure we want to reload the client would also be neat. They added this to reporting battle names recently, because so many people were clicking it accidentally and reporting immediately without wanting to. Could be pretty helpful in this case too, I can imagine. Also when closing the client. And if you find those confirmation messages annoying, you could be able to toggle them on/off in the options, maybe.

What would you change/add to the game, if you were the boss for 1 day?

Could also just add a small textbox above the items row in each tab. In the protection tab you could for example type "smoky", and it would then show only the Smoky protection module in this case. -
Really looking forward to all the clueless "veterans" who have not touched the game before the HTML era. They sure know a lot about a classic version.

It's just lag. The moment you see your opponent shooting isn't when they actually shot, there's quite the delay. It takes some time for the server to register what's happening; in cases such as the ones you described, it registered your opponent's action first. But in general, if you and your opponent shoot at the exact same time in your POV, your opponent's shot is landing first. Would be quite helpful to be able to see what everyone's ping is to be able to handle such situations. Lots of competitive games do this already. Even in Minecraft you can roughly see how good each player's connection is.

You know, what many don't realize, is that this is not purely the game's fault. If you host game servers for example in the center of Europe, and allow people to connect to those from I don't know, North and South America, eastern Asia - it is physically impossible for the data of those players to travel to the servers fast enough for them to have a low ping, which results in you getting hit behind cover (in your POV, not theirs) by them. No matter how good or bad servers are, this is not only happening to you, it's happening to everyone, in every game. When you shoot people you also hit them while they're behind cover by the way, just the way they hit you as well. Solutions to this are either regional servers, for example some servers in America, some in Europe etc., or an actual technological breakthrough, that makes data travel faster. And regarding the video thing, if you tell me your Railgun doesn't have vertical auto-aim, I simply cannot believe it, because my Railgun does have vertical auto-aim. So without evidence (a video) of this happening for you, everyone will tend to tell you it's a skill issue. Especially nowadays: if you have an Nvidia desktop GPU that has been released within the last 12 years, you can record a clip anywhere from 15 seconds to 1 minute by just pressing two keys on your keyboard, upload it to YouTube without any editing, and post it here on the forum. All of this takes you less than 5 minutes, you guys are just lazy.

Would also be nice to have an input field where you can type the name of a paint to find it. But eh, takes too much effort probably, too much cost without giving anything back ? -
I'm glad it did, lol. I guess we found a fix for this problem, in case people encounter it in near future. ?

I can't guarantee whether this works, but try this: go to where you have Tanki installed. You should be able to get there by right-clicking your Tanki Online shortcut and then select "open file location". If you land in some folder that contains multiple different programs, do that again, and you should land where you have Tanki installed. The second folder there should be named "resources". In the resources folder, there's a file named "tankionline.json". If you open that, you should see a link after something called "loadURL". At the end of the link, it says "resources=https..." whatever. Replace everything after the "resources=" with the corresponding part of the link Opex provided that does it for you. Would be funny if this works ? I tried doing this myself: cleared my cache, replaced the link, and at least my client is still launching without any problems.

I think you got the idea of mouse controls wrong. It's not about your turret, it's about controlling your camera which then controls your turret on its own. Usually, you find a sensitivity that feels comfortable for you, and can then simply use it for every turret. You just drag your mouse somewhere and wait for your turret to follow. That the camera is not locked to your turret is what makes mouse cool.

Your best bet is to contact the Tanki support, I guess. Sadly, fixing such issues in Tanki on your own is not really possible, I doubt there are known solutions that are guaranteed to work. If you have a VPN, try connecting to the game using it, to see whether that works. Otherwise, contacting the Tanki support is the only thing I can think of.
-
Can't do much I think. Tanki doesn't store some necessary files locally, they're hosted on one of the game's servers as far as I know, and I assume that that error message appears when you can't connect to those servers to load those files or whatever. Just keep refreshing I guess, or try to connect from other devices to see whether the issue persists. You could also consider reinstalling the official client, as sometimes some people are playing with an older version that doesn't auto update. Maybe that helps, who knows. Regarding lag spikes (very unstable Ping, everyone jumps around instead of driving), sometimes it actually seems to be because of the battle you're in. In such situations, VPNs help me out a lot.

What would you change/add to the game, if you were the boss for 1 day?
Son_Goku replied to Son_Goku in Game Discussion
I agree, the pixels on LC skins are straight up horrible. If I were them, I'd consider making a poll asking which version of the LC skins us players actually want. But knowing our fellow tankers, that poll would be insanely botted, lol. And honestly, I really like that dead tanks stay around for ages. Since they stay around for so long, it actually adds cool strategic value to where you die. What bothers me however, is that dead tanks are pretty glitchy, as you can simply drive through them more often than not. Today I found out that the word "moscow" is censored, which is pretty crazy. ? -
What would you change/add to the game, if you were the boss for 1 day?
Son_Goku replied to Son_Goku in Game Discussion
I just asked this out of interest to see what players would like to change to the game immediately. As I said, I'd like to imagine that I'd do all of this myself in less than 3 hours. Free of charge. I'd get fired afterwards again. And come on, some of the stuff I mentioned is easily a one liner in the code... and I doubt those would have a negative effect. The result? Maybe it prevents one more player from leaving, who knows. Isn't that something devs should also look into, rather than cash only? -

Son_Goku replied to Son_Goku in What would you change/add to the game, if you were the boss for 1 day? Game Discussion
Currently, I can't find a job, and I often joke about applying as a developer for Alternativa, saying "I can fix the game in not even 3 hours". So I've actually really started thinking about what I'd like to change/add to the game immediately, if I became a developer for just 1 day. Here's a list in the spoiler. I would obviously not be able to do all of this within 3 hours, but let's imagine I could: If you read all of this, you'd see that it's mostly quality of life stuff, and you know why? Because that's what the game needs in my opinion. I'm not really mentioning the balance of turrets/hulls, since I'm not experienced enough in that regard to provide useful input. There is actually more stuff I'd like to do, but it may be a bit too fancy to be mentioned here. So, question is: if YOU were the boss for one day, what would you do to the game? (besides getting rid of it or firing everyone?) -
Will we get the Unity client on PC too eventually? I remember that client being mentioned in some recent Vlog, but haven't heard much of it after.

valid Add tutorial Sandbox Remaster to map selection
Son_Goku replied to ftp in Ideas and Suggestions
Honestly, I really wonder what they do the whole day. There are so many small ideas that are pretty much guaranteed to improve the game in their own unique way, that just never get implemented. It's a shame, really. Tanki also isn't the kind of game that is so big, that makes communication between devs and players impossible. It's just... wasted opportunities, I don't know. -
Brutus isn't supposed to not use supplies at all, it's using 1 upon activation. Drones that boost a specific stat further, for example Booster, uses 5 double damage upon activation since it's boosting damage further, but only 1 of the others. What drones do is boost the efficiency of supplies. If you have a drone equipped that is not upgraded at all, double damage isn't actually doubling your damage, it's giving you only a 50% increase (same for the others, double armor is increasing armor only by 50%). The further you upgrade any drone, the more % you will gain, totalling out at 100% efficiency eventually. Brutus is the simplest and cheapest drone, which only gets you to 100% efficiency for each supply. Other drones however, like Booster, give you +100% for every supply besides the one they boost further. In Booster's case it's damage, so it actually gives you +125% damage, but for that you waste 5 supplies whenever you activate double damage, instead of 1.
-
Well then... I think deactivating being able to queue supplies, until you see your tank respawning, would honestly be the best solution. You can't know what supply you will need while flying to your next respawn anyway.

Look, theoretically you are right, practically you're not. Players in XPBP are more competitive because MM is designed in a way that there is no intention for you to be competitive, you can do whatever and still achieve things. Saying XPBP is the same as that is simply not correct, as you would lose and lose and lose, gain nothing from it and just become hated by the whole XPBP community for ruining battles. That's what I meant by it's fine to lose in MM. How would you get carried by your teammates... if there are none? ? What makes XPBP great is that often you can only rely on yourself, as in many cases there are no teammates. And of course you can have bad movement and bad aiming in MM as well, and lose because of it, but still, you don't get punished for it as much as you do in XPBP, which makes XPBP more difficult to play, more skill-based, more competitive. Theoretically MM can have a high skill ceiling, practically it doesn't. That's what matters, not "what could be". In XPBP, you can also join matches with Mk1 at high ranks and have weaker equipment than the others who are likely to have Mk7, making the game more difficult for you. But that's not the point. The point is that you have an even playing field, and that playing around that simply requires more skill. You could compare this to shooters like CS, where in the end everyone runs around with the same gun, and only the best player stays alive. In MM however, you have too many random possible combinations to make it even, someone always has an advantage. Again, theoretically you're right here, practically you're not. You can have an even playing field in MM, but you don't. Sandbox being a simple map makes the playing field even more even, so brutally outskilling opponents like you could in Parma as you mentioned, isn't guaranteed to work as easily. Which means, it requires more outplaying since weaker opponents have more chances, perhaps even more thinking. If a map is simple, doesn't mean it's easy. If you say that communication matters more in Esports than it does in XPBP, you simply are not experienced. Any XPBP tournament you play without being in a voice chat with your team is automatically lost, just like in Esports. It's not that I "love" or "like" XPBP more than MM. But having played both, I don't see how MM is supposed to be as competitive as XPBP is. MM is significantly different to what you see in Esports, it needs to be closer to that to be considered competitive. I'm not saying MM is not competitive AT ALL, but ok, in my opinion, it's at least less competitive. And not only because of how the players think.

This is not the topic for such an argument, but come on. Thing is, in XPBP you don't want to lose, compared to Matchmaking, where it's just fine to lose. So the mentality alone is already way more competitive. Go and miss every 2nd shot in XPBP and see what happens. In Matchmaking? You just spray and pray, and can still do fine. If you don't position yourself right in XPBP, you risk your opponent to just win without even having to shoot. In Matchmaking? You just do whatever and have a ton of teammates to cover you in those overfilled maps. How is everyone having the same equipment and the same odds not in favour of XPBP? You have no excuses, it's clearly more skill-based. The fact that you can make it harder or easier for yourself in Matchmaking already makes it way less competitive. You're struggling? Just equip the right 50% protection 4 times and become invincible. Yep, lots of skill involved. Can you do that in XPBP? No. You're worse, you lose. Clearly more competitive. In XPBP tournaments, communication is at least as important as in current Esports. You clearly have no experience regarding this. Even in normal XPBP battles, you see people constantly communicate about the game in team chat. It's as important as in Esports. Go and play XPBP as casually as you play Matchmaking, you'll figure out that you'll get hated by many very quickly. You wouldn't be the first.

That is simply not true. There's bots, there's people who can't turn their turrets, maps are overfilled, totally random what you play with and what you play against, and there is no balance between the equipment, as one tank can be clearly stronger than the other. You also don't have to play the objective. All the protection you can get is also pretty stupid. In XPBP however, every shot matters, positioning matters, you have to play the objective, and everyone has the same tank, which means equipment is balanced across every player. You miss one shot or position yourself badly, and risk the entire game to be turned around. How is Matchmaking supposed to be as competitive as this? Sports is pretty much the same as XPBP, besides not every tank being the same. And a single shot matters less, I guess.

Honestly, all it needed was just a clear seperation with the auto aim only in Railgun Master and Sports, because people were abusing it to get a competitive advantage in those game modes. But Matchmaking... I don't know, seemed more or less perfectly fine to me. On PC, those 0.x aim assists are arguably still usable. But on Gamepad or Mobile? In Matchmaking, I think I would have left the old aim assist. Maybe nerfed it slightly, but definitely keep it the same across all modifications. I don't really see how Railgun is usable right now on Mobile, with 0.2 degree aim assist, unless you're a god gamer or something. Was pretty obviuos that you all would get severely limited in the equipment you could use.

I've noticed that I'm trying to activate a repair kit pretty often immediately after dying (I want to use it before dying). Which means, that since I'm dead, the repair kit does obviously not trigger, so it queues up for auto activation. Which I forget 9/10 times. So, I respawn eventually and see there, the repair kit activates immediately, even though I don't need it to be activated. It's pretty much wasted. I know, this is a player error, but hear me out: Every time you die, the supply activation queue should be reset. That means that no matter what supply you have queued up, if you die, it's gone, and you have to reselect which one is going to activate. Maybe add a small delay to it or whatever, after dying. Or reset it the second you actually respawn... I think you get my idea. Personally, I have wasted A LOT of repair kits due to auto activation immediately after respawn, which I forgot to cancel. That's why I think this would be a nice quality of life adjustment.
