And I can almost guarantee you that the developers come up with such ideas themselves and will probably start working on them eventually. They know the current situation is problematic. They know that a competitive game needs regional servers, such as the ones you mentioned. They're not stupid. But, the current focus regarding their servers is first handling the situation with the DDoS protection. Once they figure that out, your original ping, as well as everyone else's ping, will be restored to what it used to be, 100%, without the need of new servers. This problem with the DDoS attacks is holding them back in everything. I also have friends from those regions - in particular Iraq and Palestine, and they get a ping of 50 (even I keep telling them I don't believe it). I know people from Pakistan as well, and their ping is lower than 100, usually 70-80. But that doesn't mean that I don't believe you, as I said, I know how much it sucks to have such a high ping. Even 100 sucks. As soon as they find a fix for the DDoS situation, your ping will be back to normal. Then, after more technical fixes to the game, the game will be advertised again, and if there are a lot of new players coming in, the devs will surely study whether it makes sense to have servers in multiple locations. As of now, as a player, all you can do is wait, sadly. I don't know what to do about VPNs in your region.

That was not written with ChatGPT, and I am just telling you how things are. I've said many times already that I would want you to have your own server, because I know that high ping sucks, but currently it's simply not possible for the devs. No need to be rude, a forum is there to discuss such topics.

German (which has been there since the start of the project by the way), as well as Brazilian, are part of the game because Alternativa (the owners of Tanki) literally has people who work for them who know those languages, who can then take care of the corresponding communities. I'm not sure about Polish and Japanese, but Japanese seems to be fairly new anyway. So who knows, maybe they're starting to add more languages now, including Arabic eventually. Because it is simply not profitable for Tanki, due to the lack of players. Look what happened to the brazilian servers, they were literally shut down because they were not self sustaining anymore. They knew that the last few remaining brazilian players would be facing massive ping problems, but not even that was enough for them to keep those servers alive. You guys seem to forget that the developers have the numbers of how many players are logging in from where in the world, and they are obviously also aware of the current problems with the connection. And as of now at least, those numbers don't seem to be high enough to give them a reason to change the whole server infrastructure. All of this is not as easy as you may think. Towards the end of 2022, when Tanki made it impossible for us to view the current player count, it was peaking at around 8000 players online, half of those in battles, and one can only assume that those numbers got lower by now. If you split the servers in two, those could not communicate together, which means that you would only be splitting the current playerbase in two. The result? Two dead servers. As I said, the server location has not changed since 2020-2022 as OP stated. The current problems EVERYONE is having are due to necessary counter-DDoS measures (the root cause of all of this is the war you have probably heard of by now). It is a big deal for the developers to figure this out, but once they have, everyone's connection should be back to normal. Look, I am all for servers all around the globe; not only the middle east, but also NA, SA, even Oceania, because I know how much it sucks to have a high ping myself, from other games. But with all of those, the problem is also that they are simply not profitable for Alternativa.

You know, for us low ping players it's just as frustrating to play against someone who has a high ping. I also don't think the server infrastructure has changed since 2020-2022. Currently, due to DDoS attacks and all that, there are some measures in place to counter them that result in everyone having a higher ping, that is probably the issue you're facing. It will need some time until they find a proper way of solving this problem, unfortunately. But it would obviously be a great thing to have regional servers, for all parties involved. Problem here is, that it would likely not be possible to set it up in a way that the middle east servers could interact with the EU ones, meaning you couldn't see battles nor players from the EU servers. The devs have to study whether there would be enough players to make such servers worth it, since they're not cheap to run. The brazilian servers had to shut down a while ago for example, since their player count was way too low. I also know lots of players from the middle east, and none of them has a 250+ ping.

They didn't say anything about this, but in my opinion at least, the servers have been feeling noticeably better than they used to in the last few days, which is huge. Maybe it's still sort of experimental, that's why they didn't announce anything yet. Just noticed that they also skipped the patch notes for patch #786, maybe that's when they did some changes to the servers.

Look, I've talked about this may times already, but this is what aimbot is doing: I took this screenshot from some YouTube video. As you can see, the player running the aimbot doesn't have to aim at all, their shot just bends to the targeted player on its own. Now, if you are the player who is getting hit by this, and you happen to be going around a corner at the same time, the shot will appear to be going through your cover in your POV. In the hacker's POV however, you didn't go around the corner yet, which is due to normal lag/desync. So yeah, shots going through walls are just server-sided miscalculations in the end, which are caused by a combination of lag, desync and in most cases also by aimbot. But you all don't seem to understand what the actual problem is. The actual problem with the aimbot is that people hit shots they wouldn't be hitting otherwise, that often even surpass human capabilities. That is the frustrating part. Doesn't matter that we "get hit through walls". I have to add that in the screenshot, it's obviously scripts. Compared to normal aiming, where your turret scans for players in a pretty much straight line in front of you, aimbots give your turret a sort of cone, with a horizontal range in which your turret scans for something to hit. With the mobile, as well as gamepad aimbot, you get a range of 3-5 degrees, whereas with scripts, it goes up to 20 degrees. 360 degrees actually, but when above 20 degrees the anti cheat kicks in, which makes you deal 0 damage then. Which means that in parkour, where there is no anti cheat, you can hit people behind your tank with it.
-
This hasn't been an issue ever since the DDoS attacks or whatever measures they introduced to counter them. Actual aimbot videos and scripts started circulating after that, and ever since then, shooting through walls like shown has become a problem. Ever since gamepad controls with their built-in aimbot were introduced, I've experimented with them with friends of mine. They had never shot me through walls before, but with the gamepad's aimbot, they did. Now you tell me whether that's just a coincidence. Also, if it's lag, it wouldn't be always the same players doing it, literally everyone would be shooting through walls the whole time, which is not the case.
-
If it happens over and over, it's lag exposing someone's aimbot. In their POV, you're not in cover yet.

Why I want to take a break from Tanki
Son_Goku replied to Son_Goku in Why I want to take a break from Tanki Game Discussion
I've been playing Tanki for over 13 years by now, and I've witnessed lots of, let's say disappointments in that time - but currently, the game is just at the lowest point it's ever been. In this topic, I want to rant about a couple things that are making me "quit". It's mostly about Pro Battles and Railgun Master. 1) is aimbot, or aim assist, or whatever you may want to call it. Be it the mobile aimbot, or the gamepad one, or straight up scripts; playing against such tankers is INCREDIBLY annoying. There is still nothing that shows us on what platform someone is playing, and still nothing to make us avoid playing against such players. Meanwhile, they just keep doing this to their heart's content: I know, I've made lots of topics about this already, but still. It's by far one of the biggest problems that Tanki has currently, and when Hazel said to Taspens that there is no hacking problem in that one interview, it felt like a shot to the foot. You can literally find those hacks in minutes and start using them yourself. The exploit that gets you gamepad aimbot on normal keyboard controls has also not been fixed yet, it's been around for months, and people are still abusing it. How to fix all this? Give us an option to disable aimbot for everyone when creating Pro Battles, give us something that shows us on what platform people are playing, and look into fixing the mentioned exploit. 2) is that critical bugs are not getting fixed, and more are being introduced. I've already mentioned the gamepad aimbot exploit. By far one of the most annoying things that can happen is when you line up two people for a shot, but it hits only one. Look at this, for example: They are clearly lined up, and the shot should be hitting both players, instead of just one. But no, the shot goes straight to the moon after hitting the first player. This has been a thing for years already. In Flash, like 9/10 or even 10/10 of doubles would have hit, in HTML5 however, it's completely random. The game simply doesn't register the second player you should be hitting too. It's game winning and game losing at the same time, something that should have been fixed years ago already. Then there's also this bug. You get self destructed by the anti cheat whenever you hit the hitbox of any object on the map, in a specific way: Yeah, the video is old. Yeah, I did use it for a bug report, right after I made it. And yes, the bug is still not fixed, you can still get self destructed by doing it. You don't even need the setup I showed in the video, sometimes by just driving next to those objects, you can also get self destructed. Last, but not least: ever since they changed the turning speed of Wasp recently, it's not guaranteed that you can unflip yourself when half flipped. Sometimes, you can unflip normally: But sometimes... ...you just get stuck in the map kinda, and can't unflip. As mentioned, this has been an issue ever since they changed the rotation speed and all that of light hulls, some updates ago. Still not fixed. 3) is that there is nothing for us to kick players out of our battles. Some tankers have only one mission, which is nothing but ruining your day. We don't want to have to rely on battle moderators to kick them. We want to do it ourselves. You could go one step further and give us blacklists when creating Pro Battles, to prevent those players from joining, but I get that that could be a bit controversial. 4) is the final one, which is the lack of quality of life features one could consider common sense. Why are there no battle presets we can create, edit or delete, that allow us to create battles with set options in just one click? Why do I see the supplies bar etc. in battles that have supplies turned off? Why can I not see who returned the flag? Why does the engine of tanks keep revving up, even when you switch between driving forwards and backwards? Why can't I switch between Hornet and Wasp in Railgun Master, without leaving the battle? Why isn't there a confirmation message when you close the client, that asks whether you're sure you want to close it? Why can't I see everyone's ping in real-time? Why is hopper still allowed in Railgun Master ? The list could go on and on. All of this should be part of Tanki already. And all of this not being part of Tanki is something that contributes to low player numbers. It's not the lack of paints, it's the lack of quality of life features. There are a couple more things that are also incredibly frustrating, but which are not main contributors that make me take a break - such as Hornet surviving 2 shots occasionally in Railgun Master, which adds a random factor to the game that no one needs and is game changing, then there's that you can't get around playing against high ping players, of course the poor server performance as well (but you can't really blame the devs on this, because keyword "special military operation"). That you can pause the game to delay your spawns sucks, that you can self destruct to gain an advantage also sucks. And lastly, the current competitive scene. Esports is a shadow of its former self, it just looks like random matchmaking. The old Esports formats, especially the Light format, were A LOT better, as they required way more skillful players. Railgun Master is literally the perfect game mode for Esports, but well. Some players who reach the Top 8 in current Esports and have the Star paint literally drive around like toddlers, it's crazy. What's annoying is that like 90% of the things I mentioned are fixed just like that, but they're never being fixed, and slowly, I'm getting tired of waiting. Current Tanki is nothing but a pointless, endless cycle of desync after desync and getting destroyed by hackers or aimbotters over and over again. And that there is no attention to details by the devs, is just the cherry on top. So yeah, I'm gonna take a break and hope things will get better. I really don't want to fully quit Tanki since, as sad as it may sound, I've actually grown up while playing this game. But the aimbot especially, is simply making it pointless to play right now.- 19 replies

In case you didn't log out of the forum yet, please don't do so. It takes some time for the support to come back to you, they're probably going to try to verify that it is indeed your account, and then its password will get changed.

under review Change how you report someone's gameplay while in a battle
Son_Goku replied to Son_Goku in Ideas and Suggestions
You could also just remove the /vote command and only work on expanding the functionality of the report button, that would probably make things easier. I'm not saying that this is the solution to everything, but I'm pretty sure that this can lower the amount of false reports, and improve battle moderation in general. -
under review Change how you report someone's gameplay while in a battle
Son_Goku replied to Son_Goku in Ideas and Suggestions
They post that message once they're done. I've seen it lots of times that they start talking to the player who sent the report and also start arguing. What's funny is that everyone else can also read the chat, which is honestly also a privacy concern, since 1) everyone gets to know who sent the vote and 2) everyone gets to know who got voted eventually and what the vote is about. I don't think that this is what battle moderation should be like. It's just outdated. -
under review Change how you report someone's gameplay while in a battle
Son_Goku replied to Son_Goku in Ideas and Suggestions
Well, Minecraft is full of 9 year olds who have no idea what they're doing, so I can imagine them having lots of false reports. If you look at any other of the big games - be it Valorant, League of Legends, Counter Strike or also World of Tanks, you would see that they all require a player to provide a reason to why they are voting someone. Those games are the games Tanki should take inspiration of anyway, and not Minecraft, as its gameplay is completely different. I really doubt this would happen, and if a player reported someone's gameplay just to insult the battle moderators, they should obviously get banned. Such players deserve it anyway. I see the point, but this could also be an advantage. Reporting someone should be something serious, and by making it more complicated, if you can even count this as more complicated, you could get rid of lots of potentially false votes, since you have to put in a bit more effort then, compared to having to just click one button without really thinking about it. Interpreting yes, some people don't have the best writing. But occasionally, battle moderators join your battle and literally ask you why you voted the other player, so if you could at least tick a box to make them know what the vote is about, having to explain it to them in a battle would be less common. I don't see how the workload would be higher. I've seen it happen multiple times that the voted player suddenly started playing as soon as they saw a spectator in the chat, and that player didn't get kicked then. They also waste time arguing with players about the purpose of the vote and by spectating false ones, which would occur less times if the voting were more serious. It could be misleading I guess, but currently they have to figure out themselves what's wrong, which is also not ideal. The difficulty with implementing this is probably saving the information a player provided, as that functionality does not exist currently - but still, I doubt it would be problematic. With the vote command it would be just adding one more argument to it. The spaces between all of the words could be a problem initially, but if that is an actual hurdle for Alternativa, Tanki's future is anything but bright. I kind of agree with the privacy concerns, but I also think that it would not be too bad to be able to categorize why players were voted, to be able to better judge their karma or whatever as a moderator. But yeah, in my opinion at least, the current voting system is completely outdated and also ineffective, as the battle moderators simply don't see things sometimes. I don't see how having to provide a reason why you are reporting a player would be worse than the current system. -
under review Change how you report someone's gameplay while in a battle
Son_Goku replied to Son_Goku in Change how you report someone's gameplay while in a battle Ideas and Suggestions
Sometimes, when you vote a player and a battle mod joins the battle to spectate, I feel like they're pretty lost. That is partly because you can't provide enough information when voting. If players had to provide a reason to why they are voting someone, it could help the mods out a bit. So, the format could be changed from just /vote [nickname] to something like /vote [nickname] [reason]. For example, when a player is afk for too long and keeps resetting the afk timer so they don't get kicked, you would write /vote [player] afk. With this, the battle mod would know what to look for immediately, which could result in better battle moderation. You could of course go more into detail, explain that they keep resetting the afk timer etc. There could also be a small window that pops up whenever you click on "Report the gameplay", where you have a few boxes you can tick to make it clear why you are reporting someone, there could be for example one box for inactivity, one for sabotage and one for cheating. A textbox would also be nice, where players can explain the reason themselves. It's a small change, but I'm sure that it would be a nice quality of life improvement for battle moderation. -
But honestly, at least a confirmation message whether you're sure you want to reload the client, or also close it, wouldn't be too bad. Playing mouse controls, I've accidentally closed the client many times already, by clicking the X at the top right when viewing the tab menu.

But please in a decent quality, not that pixelated mess we have currently...

The gamepad's horizontal aim-assist is a huge problem and NO ONE REALIZES IT
Son_Goku replied to Son_Goku in Archive
This is actually pretty sad, because so many of Tanki's current problems are things you could fix just like that. I really, really doubt that it is difficult to implement something that makes us PC users not face any legit aimbot, there is NO way that such a toggle when creating PRO battles takes a lot of effort. The problem is that the developers don't seem to think about such little things. And well, those little things pile up eventually, and result in the massive fire. But since they are little things, a water gun is all it takes to fix them, honestly. It's just that they lack the effort to pick up a water gun ? -
The gamepad's horizontal aim-assist is a huge problem and NO ONE REALIZES IT
Son_Goku replied to Son_Goku in Archive
Here's a little showcase to show you all how stupid even Tanki's legit aim assist is. Look at these two screenshots: As you can see, this would actually be quite the challenging shot, since the opponent is showing only a little bit of his tank. You need to put in effort to actually hit. But with the aimbot, however... you just aim at the wall roughly and automatically hit, without having to do anything, not even caring about on which side the opponent is showing. This completely removes any competitive aspect in Tanki, and it's not only a big problem in Railgun Master, but also in E-Sports. In matchmaking as well of course, but there it matters less. And this is just an aimbot of 3-5 degrees. With scripts, it goes up to 20 degrees. Not only horizontal, but also vertical. -
The gamepad's horizontal aim-assist is a huge problem and NO ONE REALIZES IT
Son_Goku replied to Son_Goku in Archive
I don't know since when this is, but something appears to have changed, as you can now use Tanki's legit aimbot on keyboard controls; something you could have achieved only with scripts before. All you need to do is either plug in a controller and turn it on, or just download a virtual controller, to make your PC believe you have an actual controller. Then, once the gamepad's aimbot triggers, you have it even on the normal keyboard controls. It doesn't work with mouse, however. This is, obviously, another significant issue, and people will abuse it to gain an unfair advantage. As long as you can't disable Tanki's aimbot in PRO battles, there is literally no point in playing them. It really is disappointing how the devs are handling the aimbot, without thinking about possible consequences. -
What's funny is, in the video they mentioned that Tanki Classic won't have the Legend rank. They added Legend November 9th, 2016, so it shouldn't be any version after that. They also said that paints and protection will be separated, and that update happened July 13th, 2016, so it shouldn't be anything before that. Unless they're adding whatever feature they consider classic, this could mean that Tanki Classic will be some version of Tanki from between July 13th to November 9th, 2016.

It is not difficult. You download OBS to record and maybe watch a short video on how to set it up. Should take not more than 5-10 minutes. Then, it's just one click to start or to stop recording. Once finished, OBS automatically saves what you recorded where you want it to be saved, and you just upload it unlisted to YouTube. You need to "pass it through a specific program" only when you want to edit your footage, but you don't have to edit it. Overall, recording and uploading is a pretty easy process nowadays. But yeah, we can't really help you figure out your problem without a video about this.

I want to buy a new laptop. Does anyone know if a 200-300 dollar laptop can handle Tanki Online?
Son_Goku replied to demon09 in Archive
I'd get either the one AntiStatic posted, or the laptop with the Intel Core 5 120U, the one I ranked 2nd. The Intel one is likely to perform slightly better in CPU related tasks, but you have to figure out yourself whether that's worth the increased price. Regardless, both will run Tanki smoothly. It's just which laptop looks better to you, honestly. You're doing yourself a favour by increasing your budget to at least this, either of those laptops should last you for a while. -

Son_Goku replied to demon09 in Archive
SSD is a storage device, RAM is something like your computer's short term memory. As long as it says SSD or NVMe as the storage type instead of eMMC or HDD, you're fine. But from what you suggested, ranked from what I think is best to worst: https://www.netonnet.se/art/gaming/gamingdator/barbar-gamingdator/msi-thin-15-b13uc-2464neu/1035157.12916/ With the RTX 3050, this laptop is by far the best one for gaming. But it will also make the laptop run louder and hotter, and will drain the battery faster. Could be overkill for only Tanki. https://www.webhallen.com/se/product/373296-MSI-Modern-15-F1MG-15-6-Intel-Graphics-Urban-Silver From what I see online, the Core 5 120U processor is basically a newer version of the i5 1235U. This one also has double the storage, which you would like. https://www.elgiganten.se/product/datorer-kontor/datorer/laptop/hp-240-g9i5-1235u1625614/796922 It has less storage than 2nd, and an older gen CPU. Same integrated graphics as 2nd, but should still perform slightly worse. https://www.webhallen.com/se/product/373469-Aspire-Go-14-AG14-21P-R41N-14-WUXGA-AMD-Ryzen-5-7520U-16GB-512GB-UMA There is a huge gap between the Ryzen 5 7520U and the Ryzen 5 7530U, which I suggested in the previous posts. Both the Ryzen 5 5500U and Ryzen 5 7530U should perform similar, or in some cases better than 2nd and 3rd place, if you find any. 2nd to 4th place all have integrated graphics, which lower gaming performance significantly compared to the 1st place, but 2nd and 3rd should still provide smooth gameplay in Tanki. I don't think I would recommend 4th place, it should perform noticeably worse than the other 3. Would be nice if others could confirm, all the data I have is just from lots of benchmarks I've seen online, not personal experience.
