And a password strength checker to go with the good advice : http://www.passwordmeter.com/

One of the most important things I have learned is to "Seek first to understand, then be understood" - that's not a religious quote (look it up) but it is one of the keys to being successful in all aspects of life. - Respect to Tanki for listening to someone who was upset and offended, and taking action which in practice has NO impact on anyone else at all. - Some respect for those who complained and stood up for what they believed in; next time, however, I would suggest a polite private message would achieve the same outcome. - No respect at all to those who equate all Muslims and all Arabs. There are millions of non-Arab Muslims (in Indonesia, Pakistan and Iran for example) and millions of non-Muslim Arabs (such as a the Arabic Christians) in the world.

Two players battling with Thunder the same - as Thunder has variable damage, not a constant damage per shot; all the variable damage weapons have an element of luck involved.
-
Personally I never play Moon Silence - tried it; hated it - but as with all maps - like the endless Polygon DMs when I started playing; when faced with battles I don't want to join I either go to another server or start my own. Try and pick a map that you haven't seen for a while, and look at which games get a lot of players and which ones don't to set the "game rules"
-
So - remove the variable damage for all weapons also? And the random supplies/crystals drops? And the random start spawn locations? And the daily bonus? True skill is winning despite bad luck...

From Tanki's point of view, the goal of the sale is to stimulate people into spending real money to get a "bargain" - typically this would need to be an M2 upgrade. So - in their position I'd run a scan over the membership statistics, and have a "trigger point" for a sale at which a key number of users are will be put within reach of the M2 upgrade if they spend US$10. You'd tie this into the stats for how many people are using M1 as a primary weapon, as well as the sales figure for the M2 version, to avoid alienating those who have saved up for it. That way, you'd maximise the dollars you get from each sale, without getting to a point where people *only* spend on sales.

Yay - another OP weapon post, followed as usual by a higher-or-equal rank player pointing out that skills, hulls, paints, tactics, buying choices and maps all matter. If you think a weapon is OP, buy it and try it out - might not be as easy as you think. If you have a weapon you thing is OP, congratulations - keep it quiet and rule the battlefield. But remember - as you change rank, you will be exposed to different weapons, hulls and paints at different levels, and the skill of your opposition will only increase.

Aren't there enough "Its not fair, XXXX is under/overpowered compared to YYYY" threads already without bringing one back from the dead?
-
The critical hits are key to Smokey's success; its not about "damage per second" but the probability that you will kill the enemy before they kill you - a few points of damage and an increased critical hit percentage shifts the odds a lot.
-
Not an M2 Hornet, its more like 3 shots ;) But the point I was making is that all these "XX is Overpowered" threads it is strange that if that turret is sooooooo overpowered, that the original poster hasn't simply started to use the "superweapon" in question. I suspect in practice they have levelled, and gone from being a big fish in a small pond to finding themselves swimming with sharks again - we've all been there - and suddenly the weapon they were using to dominate isn't so good anymore - especially as Smokey levels up way before Thunder.
-
Think tactically about where you are, and what might happen: - try and keep a wall or the edge of the map to one side of you, to limit the directions threats can come from - use cover! a longer route with less open ground is safer than the direct one - cross open areas fast, and only if you have to, ideally in groups in team matches - keep moving, especially in DM games; stand in one place and you are toast - use the turret, especially to peak round corners as the camera shifts - use page-up and page-down to see over and round obsticles - cease fire if there is no target - it tells people *exactly* where you are - beware of mines if you are chasing a high ranked player - aim to attack opponents from behind or from the flank, and use those precious seconds before they can turn to get shots on target - proactive, aggressive play gets more points than reactive, defensive play
-
If Smokey is so overpowered you could just not tell anyone and buy a Smokey for yourself. Then you would be king of the battlefield! More importantly, only Smokey users would ever win battles, and the rest of us would run in fear. :D
-
So you play at WO1 level, right? That's sort of where tactics start to pay off for those that have the skills, and the others are stuck on a long slow march up to WO5. However - just because you are playing with low skilled players doesn't mean that Shaft is OP; now the ranks in battles have been expanded you might find some more serious opposition coming your way....
-
Shaft has an yellow/orange impact "splash" where it his, which can show you which direction the shot came from when you are hit, and if its at a high angle whether it was above you or not. Its not as obvious as the railgun, but it is there. You don't always see it - but then they hit you in the back(!) - as the camera pans back for respawn you often get a chance to check on the location. If you are playing on a large map use shaft protection paint, and don't cross "open ground" alone (go in groups!) without an armour or speed power-up.

That's the key issue, right? If the scores are tied on zero-zero flags is the reward fund *supposed* to be split on the basis of which individual scored the most points? Or which team scored the most? Or some other method? And is the same method used if the teams are tied but with a score, as opposed to a "score-less draw?" The OP thinks that it should be based on points - and hence sees a glitch - but unless we know how the points are supposed to be split up, we can't be sure if its a bug or not. As I commented, I hope that it *isn't* supposed to be split on the basis of which individual scores the most points, as to me that undermines the whole ethos of the CTF team game.
-
Experienced players know most of the "camping grounds" where you can take cover with a Shaft. Once they get hit the first time they know *exactly* where you are. They will then stalk you, and take you out - singularly or in pairs. Railguns tend to be the preferred "counter-sniper" weapon, and again at higher skill levels players have the accuracy to make this count. Once they have "blown" you from a camping ground, they will then aim to prevent you getting back there at all costs. Its harder if the snipers work in pairs or have Isiada back-up - but that increases the fun of the hunt!
-
I disagree it is irrelevant. The victory condition for the game is how many flags the team has captured, not how many kills or points an individual on that team has obtained. Reverting to TDM (or, just old fashioned DM) rules for reward allocation in the event of a draw actively rewards players for taking a passive/defensive role and punishes those who put the team's goal first, and played proactively/aggressively to capture the flag. If you want a criteria for settling a draw, then you'd be better off with a secondary score based on ("flags picked up" + "flags returned by a player to base") - "flags dropped" - at least that would incentivise the team outcome not personal achievement.
-
Sure - but that's limited to places where you can do it. While it *is* a challenge to stalk down a repeated self-destruct fanatic and trap them in places where they can't bail out, given an instant "Its my ball and if I can't win I'm going home and taking it with me button" would kill this game stone dead - unless there was a fixed number of self-destructs imposed, or it only became live if you hadn't press a key for (say) 15 seconds.

As long as that detects that I'm coming in from New Zealand (where its Winter) then I'd be in favour. Probably change my tune in December though, when it would be a silly idea. :D Viva the Southern Hemisphere!

... clicked on a button to enter the Forum that says I'm over 16 so I can post about people breaking the rules, without seeing any irony in my own actions.

That's the problem with buying rank - or ranking up by buying drugs - you don't develop the skills that should go with the rank. You find yourself in battles where you have to drug all the time to stay alive, never mind win any crystals. Once you get over WO3 or thereabouts its starts to become really tough if you haven't developed the skills to *win* (not just stay alive) without drugs. Don't blame the cost of weapons and hulls - a lot of players at mid ranks still use M0 and M1 weapons...
-
There's a %age chance any give shot will be a critical, which you can't control. Smokey is excellent if you have excellent skills...
-
Um - people that aren't actually mad? "You don't have to be mad to play in madness, but it helps" :-)
-
Hornet and Railgun because its just fun to play. Bit more stability and durability than a Wasp, same kind of mad dashing about the arena and a nice big stick for hitting people with even at close range. You get killed a moderate amount - okay, quite a bit - but for sheer mad heroics in the death-or-glory approach and outright aggressive play its good fun and gives you spectacular mid-air death scenes!
-
Lowering prices would immediately devalue all of the money and time that have been invested by all the other players up until this point, unless they were fully refunded. If they were fully refunded, they would be able to buy the highest possible turrets, hulls and paints and the same imbalance you are dealing with now would still exist; Tanki would also need to create new ranks and garage items at higher prices to keep those players interested - at which point, you'd complain about the prices, and round we go again. Skill plays a big part in Tanki as well - an experience player on a low ranked account with M0 kit is still fearsome...
