    Freeze was nerfed! Finally.

Anark_God was complaining that changing the rules to make a profit was a result of the developers having the "Soviet Union in their blood" - where they are actually acting just the way most companies do when they have control - so more capitalist than communist.

    What Tank are You?

Hornet/Railgun - which is what I use. Nicely put together!

    must read this!

Before we even get to "post ideas in Feedback" - Why would Tanki want to make it easier for players to get Crystals in such large quantities with no skill or effort involved? All it would do is devalue the efforts of players that earn crystals by fighting, and encourage less people to buy crystals with real money, and we'd have more players drugging at the ranks where 10,000 crystals doesn't actually buy very much in terms of hulls, paints or weapons. You couldn't even make it "pay crystals for a spin" as that would violate a lot of on-line gambling laws in different countries....

    Freeze was nerfed! Finally.

Seems to me like they are just embracing capitalism to its fullest extent as opposed to going back to Soviet strategies. You might want to read up on Rockefeller and Standard Oil for example, as they things you suggest are right out of his playbook. Or Apple's for that matter in terms of walled gardens and non-standard cables. Soviet strategy was always to have lots and lots and lots of identical, cheap weapons (think T-34s or Mig-21s) and win through weight of numbers as opposed to over-priced and over-engineered solutions.
  5. If you went from the number of people who speak each language, you'd have Mandarin Chinese (1,120 million), English (480 million), Spanish (320 million), Russian (285 million), French (265 million), Hindi (250 million) and then Arabic (221 million); German is 13th place (109 million) - so on that basis Arabic does make more sense than German, but Spanish or French make more sense than both. Interesting.

Why is everyone complaining? Freeze is still op

Indeed. If everyone stopped getting "butthurt" the forum would be a happier place. So far I've seen people suggest that *every* weapon is either overpowered or underpowered at different levels, usually based on dubious statistics like "damage per second" or "head-to-head" point-and-fire combat.
  7. This has already been discussed quite a lot of times....

    Isida's!

I'd say that the Railgun is closer to current tank weapons in terms of effect than any other gun in Tanki, to be honest, based on things like rate of fire and consequences of an impact. It certainly favours real tank tactics like fire-and-move, hull down positions and so on. It is also based on real technology (check out the Youtube videos of the US Navy's railgun test firing) and as soon as they can get pack the power requirements into a tank hull you can bet your bottom dollar we'll see railgun tanks out there. By contrast, the idea of actively repairing tanks while under fire is fiction, and will remain so.

    Winning and losing the battle

Some people clearly choose to play in CTF mode for XP, not victory. You can kind of understand why - defensive/reactive playing in any game/sport is simply far, far easier than being offensive/proactive, and CTF is the only mode where you can play defensively in this way. I often join CTF games on the losing side and try to turn things around, but when the team turns out to be losing because they lack aggression and the desire to win I tend to bail pretty fast.

We should get rid of vote's on the forum!

Voting/Liking is problematic on sites that allow you to edit posts indefinitely; the post can be changed after votes are cast. Some sites allow a time window for edits, after which the post is "locked", which avoid this issue.

There is something wrong in Smokey Vs Thunder

Damage per second is all well and good, but Smokey and Thunder deliver their damage in a "lumpy" fashion, unlike Firebird/Freeze/Isida. Given the variable nature of both weapons (and the critical hit) it is a probability problem (and a bit of a complex one at that) The math suggests a 21.3% chance the Smokey player wins - which translates into "don't go head-to-head against a Thunder - attack from behind/flank and with cover to go under..."

    smoky ! between m2 and m3 !

Similar - but different! The key thing with Smokey is usually that you need to get a critical plus a few other hits to get a kill; how many "a few" is depends on those two numbers; just a few HP can be the difference between a kill at (say) the third shot, or the forth, depending on hull and paint. And that in turn may allow the enemy to kill you...
  13. KiwiZaphod

Smoky cannot be equal in power.

You can make a probabilistic model of any two gun/hull/paint combinations and say what the %age chance of each winning is - its not exactly trivial to do but you can do it - there's an example in the Thunder/Smokey thread. ===== The thing is - I play this game for fun; so I pick hulls and weapons I find fun to use, and play in battles I enjoy. Sometimes the "win" is a single flag capture against all the odds, or taking down an overpower enemy, just once - or even watching a very talented player give me a sharp lesson in tactics with a particular hull/weapon, and I'll have to figure out what to do. ==== That means I'm less bothered about which gun or hull is "best" or "overpowered", and more about what I enjoy playing with. And no matter what the odds say, an expert with the right paint and hull to back up a given weapon, on the right battlefield, will dominate, especially when operating in an effective team.

    refund for freeze users

Buy a car for a few months and sell it back to the garage? Loose a lot more than 4% of the value....

    [Guide] Railgun

I'd add the "visible signature" of the Railgun as a Con - it limits the use of the Railgun for sniper attacks, compared to say Shaft or Smokey, as once you have fired, everyone knows your position. ============ In terms of overall Strategies for the Railgun "fire and move" is the key (due to the long recharge time and high visual signature) especially as you cannot rely on a "one shot kill"; this makes the Hornet+Railgun pairing useful as you can fire, maneuver rapidly into cover/concealment and then fire again, ideally from a different position. ===== You should aim to attack from the flank or rear, as this allows you a good chance of being under cover before the enemy has rotated to your position - for example fire from one corner of a building. and then immediately circle behind the building to the other corner for the second shot. =============== The Railgun is also good for enfilade and defilade fire positions, as these increase the chance for multiple hits and multiple shots on target; on light hulls the Railgun can be very effective in this way when used to infiltrate behind an enemy position as this nullifies the impact of the visual signature. ============ It is important to get comfortable with the firing delay, but this can allow the luxury of "fire, then aim" - pressing fire while in concealment and then "popping out" to aim in one movement. Use of "scouting" round corners with the turret and the page-up/down buttons to "look over" obstacles can make this very effective as a tactic, allowing you to get multiple shots on a mid-to-far range target without loss. ========== Above all else, accuracy is the key, with the first shot; probability of survival if the first shot misses is low with most light/medium hulls against even a moderately skilled opponent.

    Goodbye, Tanki Online Community!

Some people might think Tiger of Malaya would be a pretty inappropriate name - I must admit I glanced at your old handle twice as I misread it the first time I saw it.

    Who wants their crystals back?

Post rebalance I made good choices that I don't regret. Before the rebalance my whole "Tier1" spend was totally wasted. As with any purchase - chose wisely and do your research!

Lets talk about our fav books

If you are serious try Broken Angels or Woken Furies By Richard Morgan and Great North Road by Peter Hamilton - both not for kids, BTW. Funny how putting the word "adult" in front of almost anything makes it seem *wrong" - don't see too many kids reading Newsweek or Time :D
  19. It is very difficult for anyone to improve at what they do without getting feedback of some sort. Not all feedback is positive, and when you are dealing with the general public, not everyone will be skilled in how to make their feedback positive and constructive all of the time. That's not saying people should put up with insults or discussions that undermine their position or authority - but it is suggesting that being able to patiently listen/read badly expressed negative criticism and extract from it a opportunity for positive improvement is the key.
  20. Um - unless of course they are also on an island in the Pacific Ocean (its not exactly in the middle though - more like the bottom left corner) which is just where I am right now. And its lovely. In the spirit of which, player below me is skiing down Mount Ruapehu (our local skifield/volcano) when it erupts, and they are swept to their doom by a lahar..
  21. As part of a complex insurance scam run by an organised crime syndicate linked with Ikea, the well had been filled with Swedish soft furnishings that were hidden there while the insurance inspectors checked a supposedly full warehouse that had burned down "accidently"; I have a lovely soft landing. Unlike the player below, how has been cornered by the criminals (Swedish House Mafia?) in a moodily-lit cornfield. They have baseball bats, and they have dug a shallow grave, and they think you are the rat...

    Make Rewards More Democratic!

If you are playing the game for fun, then play for fun, not for crystals or rank. Enjoy! However, Tankl is a competitive sport - if you are playing for glory, rank and crystals, then play to win. There are plenty of co-operative, non-competitive games on the net you can play - but Tanki is not one of them. As with many things in life, simply turning up and trying hard is not enough to get rewarded. You need to be successful too.
  24. Whip out my Firebird -MMMmmmmmmm Bacon! Tons of It! TPBM slips and falls in the shower, cracking their head on the way down.

Is it really worth being a Generalissimo.

Status and rank matter not, if fun you don't have. Mammoth and Twins? Drugging and OP Paints? That is the Dark Side.
