Episode 139 of the V-LOG is here

I suppose they are trying to make disgruntled tankers (old and new) happy by promoting easier wins with Drugs+Overdrive. Although the health kit nerf does interfere with the old drugging strategy, being in a Drugged Wolf Pack with 2 Overdrives ready more than compensates for that. While having a unique Overdrive for each Hull sounds interesting, I can tell that the Overdrive ideas from VLOG #139 are...a bit unbalanced with each other. For instance, though the Heightened Vision Overdrive has strategic potential, looking at how current Overdrives encourage drug pack chaos, I doubt it would be used effectively enough or even be worth using. I mean sure, the Heightened Vision can help the team look out for sneaky enemies, but players' with the Heightened Vision hull end up giving up the OP Full Supplies Overdrive, which has more lasting impact in battle than mere Heightened Vision. I hope the dev's implement equally balanced and good Overdrives for each Hull, because it seems that the Overdrive ideas will only encourage players to use hulls with the most OP Overdrives, which certainly leads to staler gameplay.
  2. It took me a while, but at least I got my quota of at least 400 kills (lel). Based on your statement, you seem to make Vulcan look easy. How do you manage with current Vulcan? Is it because no one expects Vulcan? I would PM you about Vulcan, but it seems that you can't get PM's.

    Let's Discuss Viking!

To be clear, Viking isn't obsolete; it's just that longtime M3 Viking owners feel sore about M3 Hunter suddenly being more viable than before. Besides having the same amount of HP as Viking, M3 Hunter has certain advantages over M3 Viking: more power; more weight (and more stable); cheaper to buy; nice height. Compare that with M3 Viking's flat height and faster speed. As you may notice stat-wise, Hunter has 3 clear advantages over Viking while the height advantages can be debated. Then again, speed can matter more than mere stability, and coupled with supplies, Viking becomes one of the deadliest and most durable Speed demons to face.

interesting... I'm betting on Viking getting all supplies, but unlimited energy sounds nice too.

I'm sure everyone's excited over all the FIREWORKS and the UUUUNNNNLIIIMITEEED............POOOWAAAAHHHhhh that are planned for future TO. A TO, if I may, that is more of a circus of madness featuring tanks. I guess the dev's want to "spice up" regular old tanks+drugs. For many years, tanks+drugs was the fundamental TO formula... But I guess the dev's find a need to make TO more "complex, dynamic, and wild" by making these Festive Overdrives While change is necessary at times, these Festive additions will only seal TO's fate as a Carnival of Mardi Gras and Tanks.

    Patch Update #469 - Released 12th July 2017

Like I said, a bit of hope for Overdrives. As much potential these new Overdrives may have, there is also potential for even more frustrating stalemates with both teams unable to overcome the others' Overdrive boosts. Granted, only time will tell, but one thing still stands: battles are going to be full of rushes and Overdrives being thrown around... Personally, I prefer it if battles were just tanks and drugs, not circuses of Overdrive madness.

    Patch Update #469 - Released 12th July 2017

So I just watched Vlog #139...and I guess there's a bit of hope for Overdrives. Specifically, that each hull gets its own unique "ability" or "Overdrive". Besides the full drug boosts, there is one Overdrive that actually deactivates supplies of other players (putting them into cool down) and another one that summons a high-resitance dome that protects tanks within the dome from damage. So at least Viking is getting a unique trait to stand out from Hunter besides higher speed. Maybe Viking will get the standard drug boost Overdrive that we are all familiar with.
  8. Shark T-B?! R.I.P. High-rank Vulcans :( I mean, Vulcans have been having a harder time lately, and with T-B modules being given to the 2k club, Vulcans aren't catching a break.

    Patch Update #469 - Released 12th July 2017

It's been said throughout this topic, but Overdrive has been FAR from amazing. Instead, Overdrive exacerbates unbalanced battles, turning them into carnivals with players just rushing everywhere. Sure, there have always been drugger teams sweeping helpless players, rushing in and crushing the opposition. But with Overdrive now, there's even less need for tactical, thoughtful gameplay, because once you and some buddies all get Overdrive, there's nothing else that can stop this force other than an equally tenacious opposition. If anything, Overdrive just made sweeps easier to achieve, which isn't fun for either side.

    Patch Update #469 - Released 12th July 2017

I am rather fearful of how Overdrive received a permanent(?) stay in TO. Recalling the previous VLogs, I remember hearing about "popular support for the Overdrive feature." Additionally, the last time Overdrive was in the game, there was a survey asking players to rate Overdrives and stuff. Assuming that the VLogs were accurate about Overdrive's popularity, it worries me that perhaps the players who wanted Overdrive actually didn't fully think about the implications of Overdrive. I mean, sure: Overdrive is the biggest boost any player can get, and being able to share that boost sounds awesome... Thing is, though: in order to make the most of Overdrive, timing the Shift button activation is key. So far, while many players are getting Overdrive, it seems that a good number of players get cocky with Overdrive's nigh-invincibility and get killed by their own hubris. Yes, people need time to adjust to change...but so far, Overdrive has only ignited more chaos into already unbalanced regular battles.

    Patch Update #469 - Released 12th July 2017

All I wish to do is offer feedback w/o going into MENTal RAGe mode. Maybe my feedback in this topic can be interpreted as emotionally driven, but regardless, I generally prefer the supply changes over the permanent addition of Overdrive.

    Patch Update #469 - Released 12th July 2017

    1. Overdrive: I also find it a bit unnecessary for a permanent game feature; I get that it's supposed to reward attentive teamwork, but I just find that it offsets gameplay a little bit too much; basically, players can now be penalized for being on teams who don't use Overdrive effectively and be rewarded for being on teams who do. 2. Repair Kit: Indeed, RK's have been nerfed. More specifically, the new RK gives you an instant 1000 HP dose plus 1000 additional HP per second (3 seconds tops). The 1000 HP can still save lives, BUT RK won't be saving the lives of druggers who used RK's old UNSTOPPABLE HEALZ to survive against three or so firing tanks. RIP Rambos and Lone Wolfs; team-coordinated actions are more viable now. 3. Supplies cooldown: Comparing the new cool down times with the old, basically one can have a full set of active supplies much sooner and be able to get stuff done much easier; however, after the active supplies wear off, it would take longer to activate them once again. I believe this is meant to check the destructiveness of rampant druggers. First, because once their supplies wear off, the victims of the drug-induced rampage can retaliate easier (because they can get their supplies active sooner too). 4. Spawn time: I agree that the old respawn was better for blocking enemy tanks with corpses...I guess the dev's don't want that (lol)? I'm sure there's an argument saying, "Oh but blocking tanks with corpses is too annoying for allies and enemies." But hey: at least you get a birds' eye view before respawning much sooner than before.

    Patch Update #469 - Released 12th July 2017

Less powerful? Yes. But to clarify, you gain 1000 HP instantly upon activating the repair kit, and you gain 1000 HP per second after that for 3 seconds total. However, the 1000 HP per second healing can be interrupted by enemy fire. You'll still get the 1000 instant health bonus, however. In other words, Repair Kits are still useful (the instant 1000 HP gained can still save lives). However, since UNINTERRUPTED HEALZ is now gone, players can no longer charge in and survive against three firing tanks

But hey, it's up to them to accept change and move on at their own pace (whether it be leaving or staying in Tanki). They can't always change according to someone else's expectations.

    Patch Update #469 - Released 12th July 2017

I feel as if Overdrive was a bit unneccessary. Sure, everyone gets an Overdrive, but only the most objective-minded folks will reap the most out of Overdrive. While the supplies nerf is a step towards encouraging good gameplay independent of drugs, the "gift" of Overdrive has ultimately negated such a possibility.

    Patch Update #469 - Released 12th July 2017

Y'know, battle outcomes have always been randomized, especially in higher ranks. There's always been lopsided team battles with all the saboteurs, AFKs, clueless folks, folks with weaker equipment, human errors, etc. With that said, I'd be interested how the game would work if they removed the ability to give nearby teammates Overdrive boosts; it seems many people don't want to be terrorized by Wolf Packs, suggesting that Unbalanced Battles are still an issue.
  18. Welcome to the minority, fellow brother. Shall we move forward in spite of the incoming hate?

What to buy? Which is better?

Hi all. So I'm planning on having 3 M3 turrets. I am currently saving for Paladin (I've got 307k now), a generally well-received kit, but I want another M3 turret to complement my Smoky and Isida. I don't plan on getting a 3rd M3 hull, however. While I can upgrade my M2 Shaft to M3, I'm itching for a different turret. Generally, these are the maps in my general rotation: What say you?

    Let's Discuss Isida!

Perhaps the opposition against Isida is fueled by (im)balance issues regarding turrets in-battle. One of the major issues, I believe, is that one team ends up having more Isidas than the other, creating undesired imbalance in terms of healing ability. I'm sure most of us are aware of how essential healing is in any game. However, there are certainly those who abide by soloist gameplay, wielding their turret and getting crucial kills for the battle objective. For them, going Rambo is the most satisfactory high to be feeling. So it is no wonder that Rambos rage when they are squashed by a stronger opposition that is sometimes supported by Isidas. Perhaps some hate Isida because of this potential of slanting battles towards one team. I would suggest maybe reworking the system of Public battles to guarantee Isidas on both teams, but that would be too complicated. If anyone is angry at Isidas, I would also invite them to look at the current system of Public battles (which is terribly hit-or-miss). Below is a dramatic and totally inaccurate reenactment of one who dislikes Isida:

    Complaint Book

Personally, I don't rely too much on in-battle chat. These days, it gets littered with unpleasant, sometimes obnoxious toxicity that hardly does anything but ruin everyone else's day/fuel more toxicity. Typically, I focus more on the battlefield rather than on some winners' bragging rights. Of course, I am aware of at least one of the root causes of this toxicity: dissatisfaction within TO community right now. I would call for more satisfactory updates from the dev's that would make TO's core gameplay more fun and less aggravating, but I don't know...seeing the release of controversial updates like the Paint Separation update makes me skeptical. Oh and btw: nice straw man of the EN folks. Surely you captured the essence of players such as I. ^_^
